[CM7][4G Signal Bars Fix/Hack] - Thunderbolt Android Development

Let me start by saying I am by no means a Dev. or close to it. I consider myself an advanced Crack Flasher and thats it. I came across this by accident. Noticed it worked and decided to post it in case it could help the actual Devs pinpoint the Bug.
1.Make sure you in 4G area and that your on CDMA+LTE/EvDo Auto. Then make a phone call. Doesn't matter to whom.

}
2.As soon as it connects while still on the call hit Home>Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications go to the "All" tab then find dialer
3. Force Stop the dialer app, confirm that you want to end it and it should end the call and cause you to lose your signal completely
4.Home>Menu>Settings>Mobile Networks>Network Mode>CDMA/EvDo Auto
5.It should jump to 3G pretty quick and wait for it to connect to google services (Turn Green)
6.Home>Menu>Settings>Mobile Networks>Network Mode>CDMA+LTE/EvDO
7.May take a minute for 4G to show up then it will connect to Google Services (turn green)
Thats how you get the Signal Bar to work. Unfortunately if you receive a call or make a call it messes up the Hack and your back to square one. I have OCD so im happy to be able to see the bars. No more dumb people asking why I dont have service and trying to explain it.

I tried this and when my 4G FINALLY came back (after toggling it again) I have green bars!! So I can verify it works.
On a side note: This is the first time I noticed that the bars are green when in a call (before I did the fix).

I'm curious as to how you found this out haha. Thanks though!

Wow this is cool....finally hope it gets fix

Very cool. I'll have to try that out
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

I received a call playing cut the rope that for whatever reason force closed dialer. The i was like WHAAAAA! Green Bars!!! Then i made a call and lost it. I tried re doing the force close with cut the rope but failed until i tried the manual force stop!!!!

My force close on dialer won't end the call.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

Maybe I'm missing something but if you make or receive a call after getting the bars what exactly is the point of doing all this? lol

It's a start for a fix !)

Today I feel like throwing my HD2 from the top of a very high building

I'm losing my patience with my HD2 today. First of all there's the media player (see my other thread). Then it's 'died' on me again, this time when I hung up after a call. I know it's been said it's a notification issue, but I have no agendas set in the calendar, no alarms or anything, so why is it still happening?
Then I've took2 calls and listened to one answerphone message today and the reception has been nothing short of appaling, why is this?
And the phone's stuttering quite a lot, sometimes while scrolling, sometimes when opening apps. Also the weather animation has started stuttering quite badly. What's wrong with my phone??? I've done a soft reset

It sounds faulty to me. Have you complained to your supplier about it?
Please make sure you upgraded your phone to latest ROM version available from HTC. 1.66 or 1.48 depending on where you are from. You can get it from htc.com.
Should this fail to solve your issue, please inform the kind users of XDA from which building, in what direction, and at which time you will be throwing said device off of said building, so one lucky XDA user might be able to catch it and walk away with a free HD2.

Prevent 4g from sleeping?

Yea. Did some googling and found a way to edit wimax through that ##3284# code. But the 4g seems to sleep faster than before? Can anyone tell me how to do this effectively? I use my epic for my home network and its a pain. Just want it to stay on like the wifi sleep policy. Btw i tried setting it to 300 100 and 60. Anyone know what that number means in terms of time?
Thnxnadvnc!

Bump!!! Someone here's gotta know something. ..

What rom/modem are you using?
4g seems to sleep more after I flashed DK05 or DK28, didn't seem to do it much in DI18

Those are idle times, in seconds, I believe. Meaning... when the device is not actively using 4g, it will time out (sleep) after so many seconds. I think 10 seconds is the default before the 4g sleeps.. Increasing that number should prevent your device from sleeping for a longer period of time.
I did some googling, according to this page, the number is in minutes.
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/mobile/prevent-phone-4g-wireless-connection-sleeping/
I have not tried this myself to see if it helps, need to get back home first where I have 4G coverage.
Anyone else have any luck with this setting?
--------------------
Edit: It looks like the parameter is in seconds according to this post on the EVO forum, which makes more sense
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8266721&postcount=79
Yea its actually working for me. If theres nothing using bandwidth 4g will shut off. But if I have pda running 4g will stay on even when the phone sleeps. before it would shut off after a few minutes into sleep mode. Works like a charm. if you dont mind the sprint rep questioning as to why you want that number lol.
How did you access the Wimax settings? This is what I see:

You'll access the data programming area on your phone by entering ##3282# on your phone number pad. The OP mistakenly typed in ##3284#.
You'll need your MSL to explore or change the settings. If you google, you can find ways to get that MSL number without calling Sprint.. You'll just enter some commands in a terminal app.... I'm not sure where I found it.. but it's out there.

Is there a fool-proof way to ensure data is not turned on?

My data charges depend on the usage and it's very expensive. Sometimes, somehow my data is accidentally turned on. Is there a fool-proof way to ensure that that never happens? Is there an app that ask me to confirm if I am sure that I want to turn on data?
Go on settings
Press "more"
Go on "mobile networks"
And if data enabled is unmarked that means its off

I don't want to always go through those steps to see if it's off.
And, it doesn't really ensures that it never gets turned on.
Is there another way?

I can just press data enabled and it toggles on/off
Also next time post in the q&a section

But if you really really want to make sure pop out your sim and that should work trololol but seriously those widgets work! I used them before

Airplane mode... haha that will be sure you wont have data charges!!! lol
I'm guessing you could make a null APN and simply select it, that way your device shouldn't be able to use data until you choose the right APN.
^^ This will definately work.

Quick settings by dragging the top nav bar down.
And just press the mobile data icon if it is on to turn it off.

When you start any process, it's in the cache.
The purpose is different, I just show the secret_code, it can be anything.
For the TestSettings page, its too simple, and its not necessary to install any extra app.
I use lteoffon to get into the phone menu of the testing menu

Yes, same configuration.
No, I'm afraid a logcat can't help me help you.
Gps test: 16 in view, 9 in use after just a few seconds. No problem with the rom. Try to just reflash it. If that doesn't work, full wipe and clean install.

already tried and didn't help
@temasek can you give a look to this logcat?
I would recommend GPS Status from the app store. There goto menu, tools, manage agps and Reset. Close the app and start it up again. Give some seconds and you should hopefully be able to see some satellites in view (but not locked). Give it time. After a minute or two (the first time) you should be able to have some sat locks.
I also recommend checking the /etc/gps.conf file and editing the corresponding time server line to the zone you live (like Europe or us, etc).
Once updated you will have to reboot to have the changes reflected.
Good luck.
