[Q] Convert a black defy to a white one? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Hello
I just bought a Defy, i love it... except, that i wanted to buy a white one, and in they do not sell that model for some reason here..
Anyone knows where to buy the part of a Defy, which is white? (I've already voided my warranty by rooting it, so i dont really care about guarantee.)
Is somewhere a "Mobile phone parts" shop in the net?

Do they sell full working white defys too?

I searched www.taobao.com again,
It seems that there's no total white module on sale.
Only middle housing is on sale.

Front housing and battery cover is still black.
Taobao market is a Chinese online market,maybe there's no English version.

Even the white DEFYs on the market have only the middle housing in white. Would be perfect if they had a white battery cover
I don´t think its a good idea to disassamble an water resistant phone just to change the color... :/

you could just put one of the white hard rubber cases on off ebay for a couple of £$£$, ive seen the black one on a friends defy and they seem greeat value.

One of the things making the Motorola Defy slightly waterproof is the very very tight screws connecting the defy. a reassembling of the defy by an unprofessional could be just like throwing the main feature of the defy in the trash (the waterproofness and dustproof)

Keep in mind that if you unroot your phone the warranty comes back, but if you take the screws out the warranty is really gone.

The online store that sold my defy had a fully black one and a black/white one. I wanted the black one, but since the there was no difference in the price with the contract and the white one had 2GB instead of 128MB internal memory, I went for the white one. The black one was also cheaper without a contract. Form follows function in this case.
What? Black ones have 2GB of internal storage too. Are there other Defy versions?

I think that Defy+ will be in full white so you could take all the parts off it or just buy the phone
The middile phone should be new Motorola Domino+
It would be a pathetic idea to change the rock hard cover. You might lose the advantage of owning a Defy.

Don't think there are original case. You try to search for Magician Case in this forum. There are other sellers selling the case and some of them seems to be good.

If you happen to visit Bangkok or have a friend there, you could get housings for the Mini from MBK. The shops there sell the full housing for 1000 Baht (about US$26). Don't thik they are original, but looks pretty good. I changed mine 3 weeks ago to a black and it looks cool. So its now a "Limited Edition O2 Mini Black"

Click to collapse Check out Ebay, especially the ones for Vodafone branded equivalent of Uni, I believe they have the lightest silver of the lot. Next one is HTC, then JasJar with O2 being black. I personally prefer black O2 cover with blue key lights to my dark silver JasJar with red keylights, so I changed the housing and the keys The complete housing sell for around $45 USD with hinge sold separately.
Vodafone V1640, even. Someone on here was selling his and posted pics, so you can see the color of the housing, if you find the thread, that is.

Not so fussed about my own designed cover, quite happy to purchase a ready made one for now, but has anybody found anywhere else that is selling these? So far I have only seen them on the HTC site.
you could try designing a blank one by picking the same colours for back and front i.e all white or all black.

I have the Blue one on O2 in the UK.
I have the Blue one - I'm from Denmark.
The blue one has only been shipped in small numbers to a select few stores, it should become available somewhere in the middle of May. The Gold one is not available yet and should see deliveries near the end of May.

They probably shipped a few of those to select markets as well, then. I don't actually have direct insight into the shipment files, I just go by what I know from providers and a few big companies.
I've had the blue one for a week now (O2 UK) I pre-ordered the day before the Black & white ones were being released as I got a good deal. I'm not sure why there was a delay cos as far as i can tell the only difference between the black & blue one is the back cover i.e. nothing else is blue on the phone. Ok the box has a blue bit on it. the first thing I did was to put the phone in a Spigen Neo Hybrid case (which is really cool) so I can see any of the blue anyhow...

I have seen a blue one in Cyprus.. At a Cytamobile-Vodafone shop.. I own a black one tho.. but its true only the back battery cover is different between the two.. So if i get a blue battery cover i will have both.. LOL
