[Q] Urgent --- Stable + Fast Android , is that possible ? - Touch HD General

Hi guys,
I have to install Android on a customer's blackstone..
I want to install him a Stable (everything working : Wifi, Camera, GPS, GSM network, speaker, ..), and almost fast ROM under Android 2.2 or 2.3
Tried every available ROM. Some are not working for me, some are unstable (Froyo X Camera : I can't get the camera working / FRX06 : I can't get wifi working : many errors / Blazn won't boot / .. ).
I saw there are many modules and zImage available, and other files..
Could someone send me, please, a full packaging of a completely working ROM ?
Or just explain me/ Tell me how to install a working order rom ?
Thank you VERY much !

Read other threads / search forums

I searched for 3 days.. Just nothing stable
I found that some people were using Froyo X Camera with camera app working, but I'm unable to do it, even following the tutorial.. They don't explain more..

Wait for Nand or buy a 2G-no class µSD card as many issues are caused by µSD cards.
Any way, any stable Android you could find 'd not last more than 12h so I'wd'nt propose that to a customer...

Hi dear compatriot
I have to bring his phone back tomorrow, then I have to do a rapid choice..
I succeed with FroyoXRed, seems faster & more stable with some files I found randomly on the web (rootfs, ..) , now with Camera..
But if somebody has a "fast/stable" complete android ROM, please upload it

As I have now an Android device, any XDAndroid related files have been trashed and I'm waiting patiently for NAND.
Can't help you no more than givin you Tiad8 and Rootfs

Just my opinion after much persuasion HTC Android for the adoption of its system
Neither the assembly does not work well, it's only for playing and testing. The problem is battery malfunction components (cam, bt, usb,...), restarts, etc.
Perhaps NAND see how it will be a solution orig Android.
Good luck and patience during installation, I have not yet surrendered.
sorry my english

The problem is: there is yet no android ROM. It will come soon, check tiad8's site as jeanfrederic said. He is working on it.

i have used GBX0A for two weeks,or so...and i had no problems with it,everything worked fine, even 2D and 3D...and i had not even one SOD (sleep of death)
you can find it @ xdandroid.com in their repository

Sorry... I don't understand this... you HAVE to?
Simply explain that Blackstone is NOT Android specced phone, and that maybe even TIANDROID (Tiad8's NAND Android) will not bring it to full stability/speed/usability.

Tell the customer his a .... (you can decide) the Touch HD / Blackstone is a Windows Mobile Device ! Android wont run, Well to a point, but it not stable enough to be used as a day to day system, As many features dont work, Like
Camera, GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth,
If your " Customer " wants Android tell him to either get the HD2 / Leo or a dedicated Android Phone,
The List
- HTC
- Samsung
- Motorola
- ZTL / ZTE ?
- Orange
Is Endluss......

Why are you sending people AWAY from xda-devs? XDAndroid is hands down the best Android build(s). tiad8 got banned from xda-devs for a good reason! Don't direct people to his site, shame on you!
Edit - just read the OP in detail, what do you mean a 'customers phone'? I wouldn't install this on someone else's phone unless they are well aware that this is not stable or ready for primetime yet.

Many reasons. Main one being warez. Other reasons being kanging, and creating puppies. I'm not a mod tho, I didn't ban him...

ooh interesting I didn't know that, also what is kanging and creating puppies?

Uhm, I care. Devs care. Anyone who cares about the actual developers should care... they're the ones doing the hard work/heavy lifting.
Also, XDAndroid already runs on the Blackstone... I guess I need to create some threads over here to remind everyone? I can do that.

Hoping it will be one day, but it won't be because of tiad8 lol. He has admitted at least once that he is not working on Blackstone NAND.

Android on htc HD2??

Hello everyone!
I had a question to ask ...
Some time ago I saw the dualboot windows-android htc available for some.
is also available on HD2?
thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792
i think you can install the dual.root but there is no version of android itself to run on htc hd 2, as i assume.

if they mange to port it yes, ideally it would have a dual boot where you can chose what you want too boot when you turn on the phone.. that would be really nice

Yes, what he said. You can READ about the progress they have made, but please no posts like:
'Can't you just use the Android from Nexus One?'... The Developers are smart people. So to be honest, there is probably NOTHING you can teach them. Just let them to their job. It is harder then you guys think, so this could take a while.
Enjoy your HD2 as it is. The main reason I want Android is for the appstore. But probably tomorrow the Marketplace will get an update, that allows you to switch regions, install on SD card, and makes it easier for Developers to make apps. Let's hope the Marketplace start getting better within the next months!
there is no android version for htc hd2 i have tried other versions installing on my device but it did not work..... i think people are working on it hopefully sooner or later we will get it.....
Maybe never !!!
thank you guys and sorry.

Sorry, while I respect what you are trying to do, we are not close to a proper stable release where things are working even remotely properly. Basics like making calls etc are still not possible and have no ETA on when that will be fixed. So why are you asking people to flash their phones, boot up a mini-winmo rom and then boot android and they won't be able to use even the basic features? They'll need to re-flash again to a normal Windows Rom just to get those features back. Why not please wait for awhile. When they get stuff like PM. GSM, Audio etc working properly first before causing more headaches for people.

I also agree with TonyCubed. As long as you cannot call anyone, there's not much use to flash your device with it?
It can just be a nice test to see how the build performs when booting from internal memory instead of SD card...

(THINKTANK)MIUI Port for the HD2 (9/22/2010)

Hey all. I'm new to the HD2 but not to android. I'm sure you've all seen the MIUI rom for desire and nexus. (if you haven't go here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded
To clarify :"It appears that the ROM has been mostly custom built using only the base from Android 2.2 and then building an exceptional interface on top that could beat anything else that currently exists.
From full FM radio support to completely customizable home screens, dedicated buttons on the lock screen that take you to the SMS app and the phone dialer."
Since its fore the desire/nexus, It should be an easy port to the HD2, I just need halp
I'm sure most of us would love to see this implemented on the HD2. I thought I could do it myself, but I've tried and failed. Below are two links. One for the full rom and the other is a link to the system.ext2 image I made from the /system folder of the ROM. I've tried a couple of different kernel combinations and still can't get it to boot (replaced the system.ext2 in shubcraft with the one I made and it just reboots). I don't yet know enough about android on the hd2 to get this working myself. So I figured I'd start a thread and see where we can get.

UPDATE: 9-24-2010 : We do have a working test build that is being given out to a few folks. No ETA on a alpha or beta release. Hopefully this weekend. Nice to hear that ! We always lack people like you, however the few Hd2 build developers have magic hands.
Maybe you already know that, but I suggest you to contact them directly for this great project because Hd2 is a very popular phone, so this forum is 99.9% populated by end-users. At the begining kernel developers tried to work into xda forums, but deserted for the Htc-linux Irc because of noise.

Big news for HD lovers as me and greats chance for our dear developers ... thanks to all developers for continuos support ...
Camera ?
NAND ?
That is a good news.
Now waiting.
Theoretically it should be not much more than finding the references to the HD camera sensor (S5K3H1GX) and make sure that the HD2 sensor (s5k3e2fx) is referenced there. The source for the HD2 sensor is available in the published kernel source. Now we only need a cook to do it.
first want to see that they have published whole kernel and not everything except the camera ( i know they are watching us ) and ofcourse they dont like it if we finish the build .
waiting patiently for the devs and hope they fix it soon

ok, a noob question, but with this release can developers now make a ROM that can replace windows mobile on the device memory or does this just fix minor glitches like the camera? if this relese does NOT do this wht will it take for us to have a rom that no longer has to be used from the memory card? thanks in advance.

No, this will not enable the NAND procedure. Actually, what gain do you expect from that except faster booting? The current SD version is a bit slower on startup but changing and upgrading is a breeze compared to NAND and you can have multiple versions installed and even the option to boot WM if you really feel the urge. With a fast SD card I doubt that Android will run much faster in flash mem.
So if you really prefer Android in firmware you will have to wait until the chefs are ready cooking this version (which probably should happen in the next month or so)

I do not fully understand what is the difference between NAND and SD boot. Is it really the case that after the boot system is sitting in the NAND... or maybe simpler Yes/No question:
After the NAND boot system is in THE SAME STATE as after the SD boot. The ONLY difference is that I have Android folder on SD card? (YES/NO)

[Q] Done to death but still one last time -Which NAND would be the best for HD2

hi ,
I am pretty sure that your guys are tried of topics like these already but i dont know where else to go . Can you guys please help me figure out which NAND android Rom would be the best suitable for me?
this is what i need my phone to do :
*use it as an everyday rom so has to be pretty stable.
* need normal phone operations working e.g - GPS, Bluetooth, texting,dialing,speaker phone, wifi,camera,video camera,flash
*want flash, swype ,app2sd,internet tethering with usb and wifi hotspot and of course the android market app.
*A somewhat fast rom , and need to be able install and use apps from the sd card. live wallpapers would be cool but not a necessity.
Again in advance I am really sorry if i came across as smug or needy or ignorant or not willing to use the search feature. That was not my intention , read a lot of posts here and there forums and all different kind of roms are only confusing me further.Thats why i registered and decided to write this post.I'll post this at XDA as well hope i get some help .
again thats in advance and sorry if my post was annoying, just trying to learn.
hi.
probably hundreds to choose from ,but the one in my sig works well for me and pretty much covers the things you're after
Look no further

depends whether you want with or without "sense"
core droid has sense
tytung does not
Most of the things you outlined like GPS etc. work on every ROM now.

Why not read one of the existing threads about which build is best and base your decision from that? Just so you know, there is no right and wrong answer. Just because I like Hispanic chicks, with fat #$%$# doesn't mean you have to like Hispanic chicks with fat #$^#$.
Really??? What I do is read the entire build thread usually there are one to four pages about each build on each indivisual ROM. This is where you are going to obtain information about the ROM itself. Then download one, hell download 10 try them out. I am personally a fan of the Desire ROM's.

I HAVE and do read the entire build thread on the ones I am interested in, doing so is a good idea. Again this is where you get the information about the build. It is only going to take 5-10 minutes to read through an entire developers first post (1-4 pages max) So lets see, if you read through 12 builds at 5 minutes you have only invested an hour of time and gained a lot of knowledge. Most builds take about 30 minutes to download so while you are downloading ONE build you can educate yourself on at least 5 other builds you might be interested in. Some builds I start reading turn me off right away, those I dont bother going back too. Also if you are too lazy to read through a build then you are probably going to install it wrong and spend double the amount of time it should of taken. I AM JUST SAYING!
TO THE OP:
I like desire builds:
Currently using this build

I'm not saying i have read every single thread in relation to a certain build that i may have flashed on my phone but ive read a lot on here and have flashed a lot, no interest in WINMO anymore although i used to especially like the NRG ROM's also Laurentius but as regards Android until such time a stable Honeycomb build comes about ill stick with Sergio Coredroid it is IMO the best there is, i must give a mention to previous builds ive had which were excellent like Darkstones NAND SUPERAM,exceptionally fast but discontinued, also MDJ, Xboarder and Rafpigna but Sergio's is for me no 1.
I used what is called ...."most stable" froyo 2.2 . GPS dont work.

I've read the first, and last five pages of almost every NAND build thread. He needs to do what we did, and install different builds until he finds one that suits his needs. Like it's been said a thousand times, just because I like hispanic chicks doesn't mean he's going to like Hispanic chicks.
Plus, he could have opened one of the numerous, "what rom is best?" threads and gotten the same answer he would have gotten here.
It also makes me laugh that you're calling buddy a liar. If you're so concerned with the OP getting a solid build, then why don't you toss the SD version, install all of the NAND builds, and turn in an essay about which build is best?

No problem bro. LOL @ the guy calling you a liar. Some people amaze me.
seriously guys , my intention was not to create a problem.I am not lazy either, i have done my fair share of reading but you have to understand for a guy who has no idea about linux or android ( except that its a kickass software for phones) all the information out there could be a little overwhelming.I didn't read quiet a few" which rom is the best " and they all confused me even more .The most prevalent answers those pots got was a lot a bashing with some " every rom is different , pick one that suits your needs" . Thats why when i started my thread i specifically mentions what i "desired" from the rom.I am really confused about the phone now. Some people on other forums are saying that since HD2 wasn't made for Android you would't get a stable rom for everyday use it is sure to mess up.Its posts like these that are confusing me even more and i am actually thinking about returning the phone and take the easy route of getting a samsung Vibrant.
again thanks for all the guys who mentioned their roms and the ones thats tried to help .honestly just because someone is asking a question doest mean that they were lazy and didnt read anything . If i didn't read anything then i would't have known about NAND .
PS: i love hispanic chicks with huge @%%^ too. Infact i love them all with huge )*##*#
