If there was any question about EF02 4G speeds... - Epic 4G General

Even though the WiMax baseband radio is still DH24 on the Epic, I believe the rest of the newer RIL code makes a dfference. My best 4G speed test I've ever gotten was around 7Mbps at Arrowhead Stadium, which I believe has its own dedicated WiMax MBSS. I decided to do a test in Overland Park with full 4G signal. Here is the result, and multiple tests were in the same ballpark:

As you can notice, Sprint STILL hasn't raised the upload cap to 1.5 Mbps. ****ers

They have... He just didn't hit it as you notice he hit 1.1 its raised before max was 1 so its raised.

Uh, no, I posted that. It is definitely throttled at 1 Mbps. While it says 1.10, it says that because their QOS implementation has to normalize the throughput until it is steadily at 1 Mbps. Since this is a cellular technology, their base station can compensate for signal quality variations by changing modulation and symbols per second to achieve the desired throughput.

Maybe not for u but the other day I got 1.32 upload. Never capped above 1.08 or so prior to this release... besides like I tell my verizon friends who tout about there phone getting close to 20mbs per second.... what server do u know that's going to give u downlod speeds above 2 or maybe 3mbs...
And what r u uploading that the extra 500 kbs is gonna. Make or break it

Well, I should hope Overland Parks gets some great 4G performance, otherwise how fail would it be for Sprint to have a **** signal where their headquarters is? I'm just jealous because I'm forced to still rock 3G except when I go down to Arrowhead 8-9 times a year.

lol your argument was "those ****ers" hadnt raised the cap, they have. now lets let this pointless thread die

This was the best speed i've ever seen on 4g here in Irvine, CA. i only had 2 bars of 4g service. I'm running Simply ASOP v3.1.1 (Froyo 2.2.1 Build) with the EF02 modem.
In other areas around OC, i'm seeing upwards of 1.9M download on 3g with full signal. Much higher than i've seen before. I'm not sure what the baseline is though, for 3g speeds.

I want lte on my atrix!!!!

The Verizon LTE service is supposed to be the fastest out there.
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/5923/holysh1tlte.jpg
BUT...
It looks like now that people have actually started to use LTE, the speeds have gone Way, Way down.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma88UIRt1S0&feature=player_embedded#t=442s
Is anyone else beating this "4"g with hspa+?!
i dont know. the download was slow, around 2Mbps. but holy crap did you see the upload hitting 22Mbps!
Still beats the pants off my Atrix and AT&T.

Download????? only 2.97? WTF
Man LTE is sooooo amazing. But the uploading being 22 is f**king awesome!
just thought I would clear this up, The high uploads are due to the speedtest app not being able to measure LTE uploading correctly.
These scores are completely inaccurate.
It might as well say 99999999.9999999mbps upload.

Oh that makes sense. But I get those download speeds on my Moto Atrix!
Is anyone else having a problem with their atrix switching to Edge? I'll try to run a speed test or watch a video and it will just randomly switch to edge, then no signal, then back to H. What's the deal?
That was the point of this post. Most atrixes (Atrices?) are faster than this. Mine gets 5 down
Intersting results - mine were much different in Phoenix AZ.
I think in general the speedtest app is broken. When doing it on the webpage I was getting more consistantly between 15-20 MBps download and 5 MB upload.
I am actually giving back my atrix tomorrow. Best phone I have ever had, but the network is not even 3g speed out here (even with a microcell in my house I still can not get over 1.5 MB download and we all know about the stellar upload speed)

try going to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest and running it through your browser. curious to see what you'd get there.
So if the Atrix only shows H+ than why does my Atrix switch a 3g symbol everyonce in awhile for a few seconds. I dont understand it.

LTE uses a single channel(SC)-FDMA while WiMax still uses OFDMA for their respective uplink signaling. OFDMA is what 3G uses, hence why you can still get an accurate reading on the Evo.

I myself left Sprint and an Epic 4G for the Atrix and I have not looked back. My experience to date is that the data is consistently better with AT&T than with Sprint. My house is not covered by the very spotty Sprint 4g coverage and AT&T's 3g was a lot faster compared to my Sprint 3g.
I do drop more calls with AT&T though. My phone cycles in and out of signal more often, but not excessively.
You guys are lucky. My area won't be getting actual 4G any time soon.

Look, if you're stuck with a monopoly.. never mind, let me just give you an analogy
If a hitman beats you with a club every day, and you get badly injured you're sad.
Then he upgrades his backfist and decides to beat you up instead. It sucks, but it's better.
Would you rather be beat with a club, or a fist?

Anyone seeing improved 3G speeds?

With the start of Sprint's "Network Vision" multi-modal cell site build out, I, like many others are hoping that means faster 3G speeds.
I understand coverage will improve, theoretically speed should too. It's still very early on in the new development, but has anyone seen faster speeds?
I haven't seen any improvement. I don't think many are. Check out the boards on sprint's website. Nothing but negative vibes.

Nope, still maxing out at 150kbps here.
After seeing this i figured i'd unplug my airave. Before i would only get 2bars @ about 200kbps. Now i have 5 bars and 1.4mbps. Set to sprint only with the latest radio files. This data increase is new

Me too but I'm in the middle of nowhere sharing a tower with about 20 houses in its range after 1am til about 5am I can get over 3mbps. We just had an infrastructure upgrade and a new tower in the last week cuz some dumbass truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and smashed thru the tower. Last night I had 2.2mbps upload and 4.1 down while tethering according to my network monitor
Edit: and I was on 3g cuz we don't have 4g yet, apparently they put the hardware in while replacing the tower but have not activated it for use yet. Although on a few occasions I have been able to connect to 4g in the last week probably while Sprint had it powered for "testing"

I am in Metro Detroit and my speed used to be 20-25 at my home , last week its been 14-15 constantly. Does anybody else see the decrease or is it just me because of the new sim card?

That's still pretty quick. Speed varies on the time of day. If too many people are using the network, it'll get clogged and users will see their speeds lowered. If you're far from the cell tower/antenna your speed will be lower. Having a new sim card simply doesn't affect network speeds.
When I'm at home I don't even get half the speed you get! Because there's this tall apartment building next to my house!

I had t-mobile's prepaid before I switched to a contract last year. And speeds are the same whether or not it's on a contract or not. So yeah, like I said perhaps their network is filled with people using it so you will see lower speeds. Also, during peak hours lowers the speed you normally get as well. Orrrr T-Mobile is trolling you. Hmmmm....

I guess something is going on with their network, perhaps LTE preparation. Look what I get now
Definitely. At work I used to get 18-19Mbps down, now I get 8-9.
Best not to think about it and just use it. No need to stress it out. Lol.

Yeah, I've also been getting the INSANE upload speeds, but I can only imagine it's a bug.

****, i barely get fast upload speeds from Comcast at home. Came back from Hong Kong and had 2gb worth of video from concert i saw there...took a while to upload all that onto BOX account...
I get 2 bars at home...9mbps. I dont even get HSPA +15 outside rarely...only say that in Hong Kong 100% of the time.
You're complaining about slow speeds when you're getting well over 10Mbps!!
In downtown Chicago I get 10-19Mbps depending on the time of day. At home (about 25 minutes from downtown Chicago) I get 2-5Mbps

lol I am not complaining, I am trying to figure out whats the deal. I am sure the difference I have is not because of congestion. At my home speed differs only 1-3mbs during busy hours compare to lets say 2am. It has been steady 20-25mbs. I literally have been running speedtest every day during last month and a half to see if they gonna throttle me or if I use too much data and just testing out speeds
Heh... And you still complain? I'm in front of a TMO signal tower and it's been getting worse since 3 days ago.

My network type shows HSPAP, what is it? Why no HSPA+42

The Testing application (*#*#4636#*#*) will show HSPAP, the phone status in the settings application should show HSPA+:15 or HSPAP:15. HSPAP is HSPA+. The status won't show HSPA+ 42, because the number indicates connection type and not speed.
I feel your pain as well.
That usually my average all the time with this damn phone even in parts of NYC!!
I just dont understand it.

I've been getting blazing speeds lately. Even in places where my old verizon had no service. It's a given that i need to be outside to get 30+ mbps but i'm happy getting 15 mbps inside a bunch of concrete. The uploads have been pretty good as well.
Definitely slower for me. I used to get 20 down, 15 up, now I get 10 down .12 up on HSPA+. When I go into town and I get LTE though, I get around 30 down 12 up
