You need to enable "unknown sources" option in the phone, the description is "allow installation of non-Market applications"
Go to Settings -> Application settings and it should be the first option, check the box and try again.

Thanks!
Works perfect on Evo 3D

Market alternative

Hello everyone, I'm happy to say that I'm hosting a 'market' specifically for Sprint Hero root users. If anyone is interested in this, you can install it on your phone in a few steps.
First, download the market program and install it on your phone. It's at http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/dl/Aptoide.apk
Once you install it, launch it and press no to add their default repository. Then, press menu>Manage repo>menu>New repository. The url to the repository should be EXACTLY:
http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/repo/files/
After that, go back and you should be able to see the applications. If you're a developer and have a application you'd like to add, or have a question, feel free to email me: [email protected].
Yes, I know there aren't many applications in it right now.

Depends: A pretty way? No. A basic way? Yes.
http://app2.bikcmp.com/repo/files/ has a directory listing of the apk's, and you can download them from there too.

See attached file. But it is in ZIP format. No idea how to install it.
Maybe you can use MarketEnabler, choose T-Mobile-US and then you can install it from Android market.
Or you get it from here with a barcode scanner
thanks for info.

And Thanks a lot you took time to find out this app for me. Really appreciated.

Is there anyway you (or anyone) can pull the updated .apk file and post it? For whatever reason, I can't upgrade it, either. When I open the app, it tells me off the bat that there is an updated version available. However, why I tap "OK" to update it, nothing would happen. I tried to reboot the phone, and I got this error when I tried the update:
Download failed. -1java.io.FileNotFoundException: /fs:/shared/csitest.tar (No such file or directory)
If someone can post the .apk file so I can do it manually, I would totally give you a cyber high-five.

Doesn't appear to be the new version. Installs fine, but when launched it says an upgrade is available.... Clicking on Update crashes the app, then gives error-"Download failed.-1java.io.filenotfoundexception: /fs:/shared/csitest.tar (No such file or directory).
Also tried to drop in system/app folder with rootexplorer, but got same error...
Hmm that's weird pulled it directly from my phone. O well I guess ignore the upload

This is not the one. I'm talking about the Nexus One's default wallpaper, which will be available in LG P500's stock froyo ROM also. I think it will be available in the first set of apks you provided. But I'm facing the issue of installing.
Anyway thanks for your help mate. I'll try to install those apks somehow.
Try Nexus Revamped Pro on Market.
And what about Microbes live wallpaper from Nexus? It has been ported to SGS, so is it possible to have this in OO?

Unfortunately Sprint has said point blank there won't be an official ICS for it thanks to Touchwiz. The phone can run ICS just fine (IE the very snappy CM9b1 I'm running right now) but the ICS+Touchwiz combo is too heavy for it, according to them, and they aren't willing to put out an update to ICS without Touchwiz.
So if anyone did anything to your cereal.. it's them. (It irritates me more than a little bit too)
Maybe the modem has enhancements.

It is Samsung that said that and it is due to their BML partition. Thrte is no room for the ICS OS in there. That is why our DEVs put it on MTD. Samsung won't attempt a partition and file system change for all the Epic owners via OTA...that is tech support suicide.

So true about the hellish nightmare that would be sprint support if they did attempt to roll out an OTA MTD switch.. god my head hurts just thinking about it.. it's sad that Samsung has to be different and not use MTD like several other manufacturers.
ICS for epic touch stock with tw is in the ballpark of like 350 MB.

Make sure you accept the notification to "Download" the update. Right after its done, it will again notify you if you would like to "Install" the update. DECLINE it, and try checking the cache again.
