Time Tracker for Android
I had pretty cool app for WM6.
Here is source code for Visual Studio 2008:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1228109/TimeControl.rar
Writen by covr from 4pda.ru
He has not much time.
Can you port it to Android?
His description:
Wrote program that keeps track of time spent by pressing a single button - Start / Stop.
The task's name, then it will remain in the standard calendar PocketOutlook with the category "Completed tasks".
Duration of the task is reflected in the calendar, and equal to the period between pressing the "Start" and "Stop".
The program remembers the time you press the "Start", so you can safely close and even soft-reset to make devices. The next time you start the program automatically remembers the last start time. The program is free.

How about an app that intercepts the GPS data being passed through to another app and replaces it with pre-configured data.

There are a growing number of apps that use your GPS to work out whether or not you can use their service. ITV Player for example doesn't work outside the UK, based on your last known/current GPS location.
I know there are a number of apps that can spoof your location, these require "Allow Mock Location" to be enabled and again some apps do not work if this is enabled.

Combine:
- EmoTrac
- T2 Mood Tracker
- SleepBot (integrate with)
- weight, blood pressure, medication, exercise etc. etc. tracking apps
Stir until well combined, and bake at 325 for 45 minutes.
In other words, a fully customizable tracking app:
- Ratings (0-n rating or this-vs-that, # of steps defined by user)
- Values (e.g. weight, blood pressure, miles run, hours slept)
- Check boxes (e.g. took medication, did task X)
- Yes/No variant (must record some response)
- Note field(s)
- CSV output for Excel, et al.
- Graphs optional.

OneHand Applauncher

Hey guys,
over the last few days I've gotten so annoyed that I can't use my phone (Vario II) with only one hand so I decided to do something about it. Therefore I started to go nuts in Photoshop and Visual Studio and have so far managed to get this far:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The buttons work and the time is correct but I haven't done the appointments bit yet (any hints on how to do this in VB.net?). If anyone is interested I might release this when I get everything to work, for example the paths to the apps are currently hardcoded, I want OneHand to load them from a xml-file so they can easily be changed later on.
The icons are Crystal Clear btw, included in most Linux distros and released under the LGPL license so they are free to distribute.
Any ideas/suggestions?
EDIT: Oh, and the idea is to add submenus with large icons etc to some buttons such as messaging, settings, web, games, music. Eg so you tap Messaging, then you can chose to write a new text/mms/email and check the inbox of each. Sort of like Spb Mobile Shell but hopefully a bit more configurable..
It is very nice. Something to different to look at that is not aye-Fone-ish.
Although I like the appointment part very much, probably you might not want to go on the appointment section first, as it seems for most people it is not a priority (for me, I use Pocket Breeze, for Task+App up to 7 days ahead). From what it seems, others are looking for things like .. battery, signal strength, number of missed call/sms/voice-mail. You may want to check the ayeFone launcher for users comments as well as methods they used to get into some of the inforamtion.
For other ideas, try looking at the 'Prada' phone interface. Do a search at YouTube to see how the Prada phone interface behave.
For much interesting interface, try YouTubing for 'Neonode' as well.
The Prada phone interface looks very inteesting. Might try to emulate some of those functions. Currently I find the Windows Mobile interface to be pretty much unusable for a phone. Everything is way too small and cluttered. Ill fire up Photoshop and see what I can come up with
BTW, almost forgot about this. Take a look at this program "rlToday". Go to its official website, look at all the possible 'skin' people are using. From what it seems, it can produce the interface you've shown above (big buttons to launch apps) and clock (without the appointment part) BUT, it also ables to show how many missed call, SMS, etc.
Thought you might want to know this to avoid making duplicated efforts. Happy coding.

of course it is like every big browser. we've got a free internetbrowser and they our internet behavior^^
no jk.. maybe^^
its a very good one i prefer it to opera.
technically it's not freeware, it's a "concept version" It will expire at some point..
One day I hope theyll release the proper thing so that those of us who bought the last one can get an upgrade with everything working..
Over gprs in "simple mode" browsing things like this forum is perfect, strips out all the uneeded stuff and makes it very fast.
Not sure if anyone can help. I've been using the NetFront 3.5 Concept browser for a while but I have an issue with it.
For some reason when I am typing text into a webpage using it, be it into google or any other page, the text I am typing doesn't display until I move off the text entry box (tab, or press the right cursor key).
I've been living with it for the last few releases but would really like to get it sorted. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help.
Typing in usernames / google searches / facebook replies blind is fairly tricky. If I am writing anything other than a few words I tend to drop to notes or Word and then copy and paste.
Apologies if this is the wrong section to post in, but I thought it was somewhere to start.
I'm using a TyTn II branded as an XDA Stella.
Thanks

Multitasking the Android Way

My apologies if this is a repost but I came across this yesterday and thought people here might be interested. Anyone that has ever been confused by the way Android multitasks (let's be honest, we all have) should read this.
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/04/multitasking-android-way.html
Interesting. And the author certainly has a cool last name.
Definitely a good read. Thanks.
I'm still TOTALLY confused between what a process vs service is and how everything works together. what's the difference between an app I just sent to the background vs its associated service or process? are they one and the same?

A process is any task that the CPU has to perform. For example, say you open a text file. That's a process. Once the file is opened, the process is done.
A service is a long-running task, often launched by a process. More specifically, services are A) for tasks need to run in the background, B) usually for long-periods of time (or indefinitely), and C) most importantly, independent of user-input. Instead, services usually respond to changes in the system (ie Battery Indicator, see below), or periodically checking the internet for something.
- For example, the Battery Indicator app, which puts the battery percentage in the status bar (see picture below). Whenever the battery changes in the system, the Battery Indicator service is alerted, and the percentage in the status bar is changed.
- Another example is the Google Talk service, which is running whether or not you launched the app. That's because it needs to stay open in case someone messages you.
Without services, nothing could run in the background for long periods of time. For example, without the Google Talk service, if you wanted to receive a message, you'd have to have the app open and in the foreground 24/7. Once you opened another app, you'd go offline. (coughiPhonecoughcough )
You can view your services in Settings -> Applications (on Sense UI anyway).

Very informative, thanks for that.
Excellent blog post! Thanks!
This would definitely seem to support the "No task killer" philosophy.
Good stuff to see...thanks

[Tutorial] Internal Testing of Phone

The easiest way to check a phone about its various functions or failure of such function is to use its own embedded testing .apk
How to access them is not normally Known to many
All you have to do is
1) Long Press your Desktop
2) Touch shortcuts
3) Touch Activities
4) And you can select activity of any application on your phone ( which has its own pulled down menu to chose from)
By selecting one you will have a shortcut of it placed in your desktop
so all you have to do is now touch that shortcut and its appropriate menu will open for you to test or select from
see screen-shots below
Assuming you have problems with USB connections, Blue tooth, WIFI, Network settings, whatever your phone is supposed to do, can be checked this way including running a ping test etc
This post is linked to Pit Stop

If you are using XDA App or Tapatalk, long press on the post and select :good: Thanks Its easier to give "Feedback" in this manner than make an additional post.
Direct shortcuts to activities can be quite useful. One of my main uses is to get access to the fullscreen feeds and updates widget (there is also an activity that allows you to select a few themes for it).
You do however need a launcher such as Launcherpro or Apex launcher installed to get this in the shortcut menu.
Thankyou so much for this insight, I spent 2 years wondering what this option was for and it never crossed my mind to actually try it

Notification Settings (FIX)

For some bizarre reason they have decided to omit Notification Settings in the Settings Menu. If you have an Android Wear watch and you want to change Notification Priorities for certain apps, this is a must, as well as many of the other Notification Settings.
Anyway the short term fix is to install an app called QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store, then open it, search for com.android.settings.Settings$NotificationSettingsActivity and create a Shortcut for it.
There are others shortcuts that may be useful, another post has mentioned it to get rid of the 2nd sim icon. If I find any others, I'll let you know, and if anyone else finds other useful ones, please post.

Is that any solution to change Notification fonts and colour as I it's unusable to read Gmail Notification ?
Nope, only way to improve that is to play around with the Themes - try changing them using the app that is included called Themes.

I use honor 7 and the problem appeared notifications do not work, but I know half the solution, when you click on the box in the bottom of the screen Close all programs from the bottom up, do not close every program alone
many other things you can get with "QuickShortcutMaker" at your Honor 7 you will find here:

This is very confusing for typical android users, as this phone tries to save battery by closing all apps, which is a good thing for battery, but not for notifications, so it is very important for the apps that you want to receive notifications, you must protect them - go to Settings, Protected Apps, and turn on the ones you want to protect and stay alive.
