Built in Screen Capture! - Galaxy S II General

My appoligies if this has been posted already, i did search.
I just discovered that if you press 'home' and 'power' together the phone takes an instant screen capture like the iPhone does. No need for root or 3rd party apps!
Hope this helps someone

yes i did discover this too another little semi-easter egg lol!

Double tap the home button and Vlingo voice search pops up, great for use in cars!

Great. Thanks for the heads-up. I didn't know that before.

check out the "Motion" option in settings, some fun stuff in there too

we've got some good stuff going here! i might turn this thread into an 'easter eggs' and tricks & tips thread!

check out the features thread laying around here. You all will find something out new.

The thread is called " Feature discoveries " it's 13 pages long

Brightness quick change tip! (No app/settings menu needed)

I found that sliding your finger across the notification bar from right to left allows you to change the brightness setting.
I'm not sure if many people are aware of it so it's just a quick tip!
Thanks didn't know about it, nice tip

And there is a menu setting needed, you have to go to display and turn off Auto-Brightness.

Oh cool. Didn't know that auto-brightness being off was the reason.

Sorry, I checked the sticky thread before posting this to see if it was there and didn't see it. I must've skimmed it though because I see it now. I guess we can delete this thread then?
That's pretty cool n easy thanks for the short cut ..

I slide from left to right, so i can bring it up to MAX, and it does work.
but
when i goto menu settings for brightness its not all the way up. it seems like just a few short from MAX.
anyone else?

tried on the xda App for android, with the search "galaxy s screen shot" nothing helpful.
maybe you could link the post (if its so easy to find) rather then putting a very un-friendly/helpful post.

Why say this? He is not asking how, just if anyone else uses it?

Right, hold the back key then press the home button.

The search capacitive key

....is possibly the most useless button ever. I don't think I have ever used it since owning the Vibrant..
tis true.

How about pressing it within an app to easily launch that app's search feature ...?
Did you know you can do that ...?

I never use it on the home screen.
I use it all the time in Market.
I always remap it to camera. I use an app called button remapper from market.

I use it all the time. It's the quickest way to pull up a contact or even an app.
(I've turned off the web search so it's fast)
I know you can "dial" a contact name in the dialer, but it doesn't tell you which number is mobile, work, etc so it's pointless.
I also use this TONS! It allows me to remove the google search widget, and I use it for voice search all the time.

This. I use it in apps quite a bit, and it has solved many arguments with a touch of extra urgency.

It says my phone is not supported! No Gingerbread support?
does anyone know if you can make it a toggle for autorotate?
Yes only works on froyo.

Like Alex pointed out, you can remap it...
that said, I am going to argue if you don't use it, you just are doing it wrong... the search button saves me a lot of time. There is a reason it's the 4th button, of 4 though.
Samsung got the 4 buttons in the right order, in my opinion.
I am right handed though.

No matter what order it was in, you'd get used to it now or later...
I basically use the search for in-app searches like in the market etc.

All silent widget?

I need a widget which is capable of:
Makes everything silent just in one touch
Turns settings back to previous after touching it again
because when I'm in classes I'm really afraid sometimes that some music might play, or some game might turn on and it'll give sound and that has happened
So if somebody could help me out here it'll be great or if a developer sees this, then i hope i gave him/her a good idea

Is there a way for the volume button to wake the tablet just like the power button?

I have fix the power button twice , and I know that is about to give up on me. don't have warranty and i am out of the sates so sending it to asus is not an option this time.
Is there a way I can wake the tablet by long pressing the volume button ? I do have some coding skills if there is a how to, maybe I can work on this.
found this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 searching i will give it a try.

Hi, thank you very much for sharing those two apps. However, I can't seem to figure out how to use the free one. I activate it but once my tablet goes off I can't turn it back on with the volume keys. I've searched for a help file or instructions but the app doesn't even have a GUI. I'm unrooted and on stock ROM.

There is no GUI for the free app. just a pop up indicating that's been activated . some times you have to press twice the volume to turn it on.
I am rooted and still in CleanRom 4.1 .
.
Ok. I'll try when I get home. The power button on this tablet is pretty badly designed. :/
