I'm using Soti pocket controller pro, and I'd like to send the sound to the host PC. I currently connect via the USB cable, but I may switch to using WiFi as it'll be faster video.
Is there anyway the sound can be sent from the pocketpc to the host pc?

you can get a cable that connects from your exec to your line in socket on your pc's sound card, that's the only way it will work.
You can try a widcom BT stack on yr host PC...and set it as Handsfree...all your sounds will b transferred to PC...even calls u can listen and answer.
I have been using the mini usb audio adapter with my Hero since I purchased it. I use it to charge and to run audio simultaneously through my stereo. Since the 2.1 updates (both Damage and Fresh) the audio no longer works and the sound quality through the top headphone jack is mediocre. I am aware of equalizer apps but I cant stand having something plugged in to the top and bottom of my phone, it makes it horribly annoying to use the phone. I am willing to test anything and i am willing to bet this is an easy fix that probably got overlooked while building the roms.

It happened with the g1 when 1.5 came out. Would love it if someone else with a multifunction adapter and 2.1 could test to see if they have the same problem.
I thought phones with 3.5mm jacks wouldn't route audio thru the mini usb jack? When i first got my hero i tried plugging in an old HTC wired headset that connected via usb and when i plugged it in an error popped up that said something to the extent of "usb headset no longer works with phone equipped with headset jack" So i assumed it was because it seems pointless to have audio running thru usb and rca at the same time.

I suppose it seems redundant but for docks and convenience it makes sense. being able to charge and run audio through the bottom was a big selling point for me.
I have used both damage and fresh, and get audio out using the adaptor that came with my htc touch pro.

huh, that's the exact adapter I'm using...
note-if I plug in the adapter while sound is going the headphone icon comes up and it plays for a second then stops.

I'm running the latest DC ROM and audio from the mini USB works ok for me with no problems with a multifunction adapter.

I agree as well that the audio output from the headphone jack is pretty lousy.
I hope I am not misunderstanding but I just plugged in the USB adapter from my Diamond and was able to get audio from the 3.5mm jack on the adapter and charge at the same time. Im running Fresh 2.0D.

Same here, I have my multi adapter from my Touch pro and mogul, as well as the wired headsets from those. Both adapters work just fine, but only the wired headset with the slider volume bar works on the hero for some reason, the touch pro wired headset does not.
Works fine for me.
Thanks for everyones help, i just got back from a sprint store where i tested my adapter on other phones and they gave me a brand new one and it still doesnt work. If you move it around a bit it will catch the headphone contacts so it has to be the port on my phone, just happened to be when i upgraded to 2.1.
They recommended i take it to one of their service stores, does anyone have any advice on these places? ie- do i need to restore to stock and unroot, is it expensive... I do not have the insurance because i baby my phones and have never damaged one... of course i have it on my wifes though... grrr...
and yes the sound quality is MUCH better through the mini usb port.

Your phone is still under warranty. Unless you obviously broke it somehow, it won't cost anything. They'll take your phone, probably clean out the connector and check its connections, then give it back to you within an hour or so. If they can't fix it, they'll hook you up with a refurb.
I do recommend restoring to stock. A nandroid backup of stock is definitely best, as they won't check to see if you've installed a recovery ROM, and you won't have to re-root to put your custom backup back on. Otherwise, just run the RUU and restore to full stock before you bring it in.
So for those of you who do use an adapter for various reasons, are you able to answer a call without removing the adapter? Specifically, if you're using the adapter with a pair of headphones or speakers, but no external microphone, can you answer the call using the internal microphone without removing the adapter?

The difference between both is only the MIC and GRND position in the TRRS male. They are switched. By mistake I switched and now I have 2 useful adapters.

Hello knights.
My country are in such a chaos because of the manifest and I'm here mess around with technology... but I'm doing my part too xP.
Anyway, in the last days I was searching and testing a way to send the sound played in my computer, or other device, to my little android (codename Smultron).
With a 3.5mm cable (TRS or the one with 3 contacts) male to male, I plugged into the audio output of my Dell then plugged to my Mini, I started the app to record and... nothing.
Few days later, I used the app Soundabout and... nothing.
More few days later, I did the same thing BUT I don't put the cable until the end, I pulled out a bit, so the 3 contact of the cable stay full visible and... works! I was able do record the audio input of my laptop.
Also, with Soundabout, I was able to stream the audio from my computer to android calls!! For example, if you call me and I answer, if with the cable plugged I play some music on my PC the caller will clear hear what is playing in my computer.
In one more test, I used the MM cable and a splitter. With the Splitter and the cable I was able to stream audio from PC to android mic AND hear the android with a regular earphone, this test was made with a call in course, of course.
But this is only possible because in some way the PC are sending the signal with some extra power. If you try the test with a regular pc headset, without the computer this won't work.
"So why are you here if you did this you noob?" - Well I not figured out why or how the conectors are working when the stream are succesfully done. So I'm here to extend a bit this little research and ask for some help with who master this things. Also I wanna share with you all.
The keys of this are the jack conectors circuit and contacts combinations, and android audio routing using a app like Soundabout.
The main point, in other words, is how to made a DIY cable to stream audio from pc to android mic and with a splitter enable the audio output.
The reason that I'm searching for this is because initially I was looking for a way to did a DIY adapter for PC headphones with two jacks to android input, for single jack.

One more little thing, for the people that want to record a call without android modifications, you can plug the same male to male cable to PC MIC and start the sound record app of the Windows, for example.

I was wondering if one of the rings touch the microphone pin inside the jack input and the tip won't touch anything. If the contact of an output was plugged to contact the mic input we got audio from external source to phone...

It sounds like you made contact with the input pin, so you might also be contacting an output pin. I'd get a headset adapter cable, so you have an input and output 3.5mm jack.

I made a DIY adapter for PC headphones to android (at least the Xperia Mini) and a DIY adapter to send audio to android trough a male-to-male cable. Soon I will post pictures.
Is it possible in any way to play music through the usb-cable? I have a carstereo with usb in. When I connect an iPhone it plays all the system audio through the car stereo. When I connect my S4 it browses the card for music files. It seems like I can play music that is stored on the phone, but I never do that. I play music from Spotify, Google Play Music and other streaming services, so I need an aux cable in addition. Not very elegant.
Is there any way to send the system audio through usb? There is a dock-option in settings, but it doesn't seem to do anything...

Nope. Not possible To stream Spotify on USB because songs are Not properly stored on device. Best way is bluetooth or AUX.

I have an iBolt xProDock in my car, which both charges the phone and sends audio out through the phone's microusb connector. When docked, all audio is routed through the car stereo (you have to tick the checkbox under settings/my device/accessory etc).
The only issue in your case would be that the other end of the xProDock audio cable it has a standard 3.5mm plug instead of USB. If your car has AUX input, you could plug this straight in and get all audio from the phone through your car stereo.

It does have AUX as well as USB so this would work fine. I don't need the mount though, is it possible to buy just a cable like this anywere? Microusb in one end and usb/aux at the other?

Basically the cable has been made to so that when it is plugged in, the phone recognises it as a desktop dock. Thus it is a bit more than just a cable with microusb at one end and usb/aux at the other. (If you are interested in making your own cable, may want to do a search on the resistances between the usb pins that Samsung uses to identify different products plugging into the microusb).
Anyway, I haven't come across anywhere that sells just the iBolt type of cable, but to be fair I haven't really looked/enquired. You could contact iBolt and ask if they'll sell the cable, say as a replacement etc.

I think ibolt do sell the cable separately, check the ibolt thread in the Note2 accessories forum.

Hello i want to listen to my phone audio on my headphones that is connected to the PC. i used to do this with a 3.5 mm jack from the phone to the PC's line-In socket and then in sounds setting on the PC set the line in to listen to this device. is there anyway to do this with the USBC since i have a note 20 ultra now. i have used the app sound wire it has too much latency. u can also transmit the phone audio to the pc when dex is active but even that has too much latency.
maybe i need to buy a converter or something but even that has its down side that u cant charge and listen to the phone as the same time.
idk what to do.
OMG TY this is great. just tried it and i cant see any delay. i had a Bluetooth USB adapter lying around too.
btw i have also bought the 2 in 1 wire to charge and listen but its not working at all. i had bought a simple one for 6 Euros but i think you need one that comes with a DAC or something and it cost around 25 euros.
