Market alternative

Hello everyone, I'm happy to say that I'm hosting a 'market' specifically for Sprint Hero root users. If anyone is interested in this, you can install it on your phone in a few steps.
First, download the market program and install it on your phone. It's at http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/dl/Aptoide.apk
Once you install it, launch it and press no to add their default repository. Then, press menu>Manage repo>menu>New repository. The url to the repository should be EXACTLY:
http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/repo/files/
After that, go back and you should be able to see the applications. If you're a developer and have a application you'd like to add, or have a question, feel free to email me: [email protected].
Yes, I know there aren't many applications in it right now.

Depends: A pretty way? No. A basic way? Yes.
http://app2.bikcmp.com/repo/files/ has a directory listing of the apk's, and you can download them from there too.

I got it from US market
See attached file. But it is in ZIP format. No idea how to install it.
Maybe you can use MarketEnabler, choose T-Mobile-US and then you can install it from Android market.
Or you get it from here with a barcode scanner
thanks for info.

Well thanks for the upload. but i installed it before you uploaded the apk.
Last night i installed the app "My Market" which enables you to download the apps from other regions. I don't know how it works but that things doesn't require root phone. Now i can access the any region market.
And Thanks a lot you took time to find out this app for me. Really appreciated.

Looking for PayPal 2.2 apk..

Does anyone have this file? I cant get it on the market for some reason.
PayPal 2.2 please
Thanks!
Try this workaround to allow the downloading of copy protected applications (Paypal) from the Market.

How is this protected? Is that why it doesnt show up on the market at all?

Exactly. Any applications which the developer is using Google's copy protected DRM will not show up on the market. Only Google approved ROMs can download copy protected applications (So for the Epic 4G, this means only the official ROMs are currently approved; any Froyo beta ROM's would not be approved without some sort of workaround such as the link in post #2).
You can look it up to see if an app is copy protected:
Example Paypal.

And nothing else (at the moment) will help you either, since all whisper-systems apps have been pulled by the DHS, since it wouldn't allow "the firm" (aka Twitter) to spy on people's conversations. In their opinion, normal people should not be able to speak privately, just like under Lenin/CCCP/SS!
Good luck finding it! If you do, spread some copies around!
Can anyone tell me if this is legit?

Can't post the stupid link, so just google it. There's a number of apps, I hear ASTRO works for that.
I would very much like an updated version of this app.

Thanks for the .apk but it didn't work on my current ROM when I flashed it. I ended up switching ROMs and got it back with that ROMs built in GAPPS. Thanks again...
