Received E-mail from HTC regarding...

I sent an e-mail to HTC to inquire whether or not the EVO is going to get HTC Sense and/or Gingerbread update, here is their response:

Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support. I’m excited about the release of Gingerbread, myself. So far, we don’t have any information about when our phones are getting the update to 2.3.
I don’t have any information about when the Evo is getting updates to HTC Sense that’ll let it access HTCSense.com. Right now, the website is still in beta and only the European Desire HD and Desire Z can take advantage of it.

OP: just a friendly FYI - customer service emails of this particular type are not trusted sources of information. They typically start receiving training only shortly before any releases. Remember all the new iPhone hype earlier this year? Customer service didn't know anything, or were at the very least prohibited from admitting to anything before the 'official' announcement.
Sorry man, that email isn't useful to us at all.

Cyanogenmod 7 - WIMAX WORKS!

Just flashed the nightly cm_supersonic_full-8.zip along with gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip. The 4G, GPS, and it everthing else is are so far working fine.
It is still considered an alpha build, but it might be interesting to look into.

Wimax has been working for a while now.

Love My Epic D700 but, Dan Hesse Letter! (Idea's, Rants and or General Suggestions!)

I remeber back in my crackberry mod days,
We made ways for sprint to push updates and take us seriously about our phones by writing letters to Sprint's CEO! We were the new jacks from Nextel so we had a force like non-other... You bring a city hood chirp to the smartphone world and ain't making us happy?

This thread is about email bombing, sprint CEO dan hesse! Let's gather some ideas for those who like to write and let their presence be known as an idividual and unique type of smartphone users! We got " Galaxy S, Gen1 " devices with keyboards! What's up with either a new Similar product, with a Keyboard? Idc where the factory is that makes it but, give me an upgrade! Let there be a phone like this but better on a different network, y'all gonna lose my 1000 dollars a year! I'll give them 1500 dollars next 2 yrs for a bigger screen with keyboard!

Emails are easy to block and ignore... the primary reason physical letters are effective in large enough numbers, is because the post office is obligated to deliver every single letter - and thousands of physical envelopes stuffed with letters will take up a -lot- of space in the office... emails, not so much...

I9020A got OTA! (and how to got it now)

I have a i9020A of Canada Fido and I got the 4.0.4 OTA just now! From my 2.3.6 all stock, no root no unlock nexus s.
the package is 128.6M and I am still downloading it. Here is the method to help you to get it NOW!
Manage APPs -> ALL->Google services Framwork: clear data ->dial *#*#2432546#*#* (*#*#checkin#*#*)->GOT IT!

PS: It has been one day and many people posted that they received the OTA. It's NOT a April joke.... However, I know many people's nexus s don't work. As the OTA file is availiable already, you can easily manual flash it using stock recovery. I did the method above for half a day and finally got it (The method was originally from a Chinese forum http://bbs.gfan.com/viewthread.php?tid=3941961&extra=page%3D1%26amp%3B%20sortid%3D and http://bbs.gfan.com/android-3941883-1-1.html They got the OTA at 12:05pm, 31/3, Canada Eastern Time )

maybe but that jives with a few other reports from yesterday, which would be a bit early for that. Now if one of the i9020A users from the great white north can capture the URL, the AT&T crowd can get there factory update on.

Have you tried requesting it here yet? If not, try to. Also, I have talked to a forum mod, and he has also posted in another thread in this section that the US models will be at least getting their own Development section. They are trying to see if they need a full section for the US GS3's.

No problem, maybe closer to launch date they will make a decision and hopefully it's to give the US it's own dedicated forum and not just a section under the international one. Hopefully we can get a whole section and then split it up kinda like the Galaxy Nexus page. Either way, I am more worried at the moment of picking up one of these bad boys on release date from Costco!
