[Q] Slacker issues - Atrix 4G General

I was using Slacker a lot until latest update. Now it doesn't play on my Atrix. On the rare occasion music plays, it only lasts about 1 min. I contacted support and they said:
"At this time, this is a known issue with your model of phone due changes made to your phone by your phone carrier. We are currently working with them to repair this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
Notice no ETA on fix. Anybody have a fix or have any info?
Edit: Version 3.0.515 fixed the issue

What version number are you using?

Find an older version and install it with Astro.
Also for future FYI, I highly recommend not updating apps until you read the comments of what the last update did. (if anything)
So many times people update just to update, and then get stuck with a broken version or the new version is filled with ads. If it ain't broke then...

Oh that reminds me, (on a side note) for those that haven't heard of "appmonster" get familiar with it.
This (free) program allows you to save your apps to the SD, and you can reinstall older versions whenever you want. Perfect for future "Oh **** I shouldn't have updated that" moments.
So if you are the type that likes to "update all" and see what happens, you can uninstall the program and pull the older saved version using appmonster. Check it out, IMO it's a must have app!...

I am using version 3.0.505. I did the update because there were actually some interesting new features. Appmonster sounds interesting. I will get it but any idea where I can find an older version of Slacker?

Currently running the latest version of slacker on my 1.8.3 box and have no problems with it at all over 3g/4g or wifi.
Not sure if it is just with your device when you updated or something but my atrix is a-ok.

Best bet is to Google the older version #.
Before coming across Appmonster, I used to do the same thing. It's a PITA but it worked...
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

I'm running 505 as well and it has been running flawlessly for me. I had a ton of issues with the 3 previous versions. I am running 1.8.3 w/ gingerblur 4 and the 1.87 radio.

Have problems with the latest version if I run it in High Quality mode, but it will run in Low just fine. Same 505 version, issue happens on Wifi or "4g".
There's posts on the Slacker forums about it too-- http://forums.slacker.com/atrix-4g-problems-t9097.html

Slacker released an update last evening-- v .515 - totally fixed it! Yeah!!!!

Confirmed. 3.0.515 did the trick. Whoop.

People w/ Froyo(HACK) and bugs

Just curiosity: Are people that are reporting "bugs" (though to me it sounds like apps that need to be updated for full compatibility with Froyo) running the OTA updated 2.2, or manually updated 2.2?
Edit: Changed name to Froyo(HACK) as recommended by someone since no one seems to be running a genuine OTA updated Froyo
Manually-updated using the official signed update from Google, for me. I don't have most of the bugs that have been reported here; the only one I'm currently aware of is that two applications I updated via the market this morning are no longer shown in the "Downloads" list, although they are labeled as "installed" when I search for them in the market. Other than that, no problems here.

No one on the entirety of XDA has upgraded via the OTA update. Everyone hacked.
(The OTA was press-only for people who attended Google I/O.)

I understand what you're saying.
However Google have released an OTA update to the MEDIA!
They'll grab this with both hands and show how the NEW messiah has fallen over again and how we should have all bought iPhones.....
I do believe this Froyo is HIGHLY unpolished and very dissapointing. It should have been released when it was fully ready.
I'm desperately trying to get back to CM but it seems to have screwed my phone and I'm stuck........

Good thing that people around here are chasing up all the last minute bugs for Google though. I am sure they would prefer to see them now rather than after releasing it to the general public.

good point lol
I'm waiting for the official Google too
Yeah I updated with Paul's version and I would have stayed on froyo but having annoying camera bugs.
I dont think Google meant this as an actual release since you Market isn't allowing protected apps etc with the froyo fingerprint. etc.
So i'm back on Cyan and all is well with the world.
I did however keep the newer radio to test it out.
It would be great if someone around here could change EVERY thread title that mentions this version to FROYOHACK so that once the real official one is released, we dont have to wade through all this pre-release BS. I know it is not possible but just thought.
What were your camera bugs?
I did Paul's too and mine worked 100%. Still have the new radio and according to speed tests it is doing better than the old one

I've posted it in the general forum. QIK app didn't work and if you use the stock camera app and slide to the camcorder then BACK to the camera, N1 would crash.
I posted the logcat and it appears there are some incompatibilities somewhere deep. I tried every kind of wipe and 'band-aid' that I could to get it working and failed miserably.
But I figured since i'm on an AT&T N1 that this release wasn't intended for me and there must be some kind of subtle differences.
*shrug* we'll see.

Hah, as OP, I changed it. I didn't realize (though I had read it somewhere else) that the only people who got the OTA update were press/developers who went to I/O.
FOR THOSE JUST READING NOW: According to Paul (and where ever else I read online), anyone else with Froyo updated manually, so take current issues with a grain of salt.

The FM radio stuff was never announced OFFICIALLY. I do remember it being something rumored, but I don't ever remember Google saying it was an addition to Froyo. AND, even if it was announced, read my reiteration above about no normal consumers having the Official OTA update to Froyo.

Sort of ironic now, that people will avoid this thread in favour of ones without HACK in the title, as they will not want to accept that they have a hacked version on their device You cant win I guess.

[Q] Swype Beta

After numerous months, my Swype Beta invite has finally been accepted, however, I am currently using the hacked Swype v.2.4.44.10912. Other than getting the latest Swype version & possible future versions, what is the advantage of me using the new swype beta instead of using the version I already have and am satisified with?
Well...it's legal?
Otherwise any benefits of the new updates.
Rarely do updates make an app worse so...I don't see the negative in updating.

Yes, but it still works and I like it as-is. I appreciate your reply though.
I'm pretty sure one of the biggest updates in this version is speech to text. Don't quote me on that but I'm in the same boat as you. I have a theme mod on my swype so im not updating but I'm still in the beta. If anyone wants a swype beta let me know. Im not using it.

I hear ya...lol...I've waited months for my invite to be accepted and in the meantime, I've used several betas that were found online but have since expired and then I found my current hacked version that will not expire and I'm satisfied with it as-is. My primary keyboard is still Smart Keyboard Pro. I don't care about using text-to-speech. Heck, if I'm going to talk, I might as well call the person I want to talk to...lol. Anyway, I appreciate your reply. Thank you.
I also received an invite from swype and upgraded to the newest version. Will this beta version ever expire?

I would prepare for it to expire at some point like the ones before it, however, being that your invite was approved, you would more than likely be allowed to upgrade to the next beta, if there is another one.
Received my invite and dumped my hacked version. Haven't regretted it yet. hacked version even had mic for speech 2 text but I like the looks, feel and speed differences of the legal beta client over the hack.
I've had problems with the beta "locking" on me where I have to reboot for it to allow me to Swype again. (tap typing worked, but it's Swype!)
This happening to anyone else?

When that happens, I usually select to the default keyboard and then back to Swype. That fixes it. No rebooting

Mine has suddenly started saying "this version of Swype was not designed for this model phone" and then won't Swype. (I'm in the official beta). I uninstalled/reinstalled and it worked for one word and threw the same error. I tried switching to another keyboard and back and still nothing. It worked fine for the first few days.
Anyone know if the new update will kill root?

Market v3 and application updates

Hello all,
Did anyone else notice that the v3 of Android Market is quite buggy when it comes to updating apps?
It's been twice in a few days that I had the same issue: when I go to "my applications", see that one can be updated (because in spite of having checked the "check for update" button, it rarely indicates me that updates are available, at least not after a few days), click on it and select "update", it just keeps on showing "charging" on the screen, without network error and without getting to the page where I can accept the update (I am not talking about downloading the app itself, but just charging the final page where I can accept the download).
I did manage a few days ago, after having wiped clear the Market cache and data, to update one of my app (titanium backup). But today, when trying to update "text edit", I found that the problem re-appeared (it has kept on "charging" for 5 minutes without giving me the page where I can accept the update).
It seems to behave well if I try to add new apps, it just completely bugs when I try to update my apps.
I also didn't like the new market. I get notification that there are updates available but when i click i don't see the updates.
Restoring apps with titanium backup doesn't make the app show up in my apps so i dont get update notification. But when i search the app it shows installed and that there is a update.

No more automatic updates (really automatic - without my intervention)
Slow as hell, it's really FRUSTRATING, such a fast device, such slow Market
I hate it, the worst Android app ever, the least responsive.
The best way to discourage people from using the market - congratulations Google on that!
True, speed sucks with the new market. As well as prompting you for an update when there is no update. Hopefully they'll optimize it seeing it's so crappy on a device like SII, wonder how fast is it on a low spec device
How do you go back to the original market, is there an apk available?
Market has been an android embarrassment since day 1.
They need to copy apple on this one.
The leaked versions floating around all were quite buggy for me with all of them having different problems but the official one that was released actually works fine for me. Are you all using the official one that was released or the later/earlier leaked versions floating around?

I never did anything to get the new market. It just was here one day, without any notification of update (in a sense, this is quite strange for an app to be updated without even giving a notification).
My version is 3.1.3.
You can't go back, after some use, it would automatically update itself again, I too have been having issues where an app says there is an update, and I don't get the option to click on update.
Hopefully google just went with the new design with plans to optimize it as we moving along, cause it is a bit to slow and buggy right now.

+1. I have also had an issue where the new market just sits there and loads forever when trying to download or update an app.
Also timeouts when I have a steady internet connection forcing me to press the retry button.

Now app no longer installing

Focus rev. 1.3 with official Mango (7720.68).
I did a reset because the market compasses would not work. Before the reset the phone was working fine in the market and had the latest Now app....the one with the column of menus among which was settings. The one where you could select the subjects like latest tweets and such.
Now, after reset, the Now app no longer installs. It says it isn't for my device's software version. Most of the other Samsung apps will install, except for the ones relating to future phones with video calling features and such.
same thing happening to me and I tweeted @samsungsupport and they said they couldn't support a 3rd party app?!??

I found out why the Now app wasn't installing and also why my Focus was having so many market issues and other functional issues. My Focus doesn't have the Mango update meant for it. AT&T hasn't released the update for this round of AT&T devices yet, even though mine is a Rev. 1.3 version. The Mango mine had was meant for it. AT&T recommended restoring to the previous update till the next update round on the 16th or 17th of this month (Oct.) comes out.
But that is strange Samsung said what they told you.
Samsung needs to fix the "Now" app. I now have the official Mango update specifically for my Focus and the "Now" app won't update to the latest one because it says it isn't for my phone. It's funny that the "Now" app is installed on my Focus by default but says in the marketplace that it isn't for my phone.

New Market

From Androidpolice..
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...te-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/
Just downloaded apk and updated mine.
The big thing is the auto-update capability on this release. Now why hasn't Google pushed updates to the market in a while?
Market updates are really random post 2.3.x.
On one rom (this was before this current one) I got 3.0.27
on a different rom i got 3.1.3
The two roms used were 350 and 351 I believe, completely unmodified and the same device, since I was using pkg updates they also fac resetting during the process so they were both clean slates.
They were about 20 minutes apart so there's no explaining why this happened.
Depending on how it's pushed you could either already have it or it may take months before it's pushed to your device, regardless google allows even 2.2.x versions to still access the market so you'll rarely ever be stuck in a situtation where your version is too old to update itself to access the market. (even though market updates is done completely different from how apps are updated through the market)
No matter what its still slow. Still sucks

only thing I dont like is needing background data to access market..
I always have i turned off to conserve battery.
i can still use data(browser, other apps, etc.) without background data..
there should be a way to just open the market as long as you have normal packet data enabled..
Im curently using the ICS market on Streak7

Yea i agree with changes made to looked the market . Only thing I Am saying is sometimes when you combines market twice or thrice to push an app and it still doesn't that's the time when you want to freeze the market updater And uninstall new update and use old version
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using XDA App
Most of the time going into manage applications and clearing the market cache fixes download issues. Next step is to clear the data (also in manage applications). You will have to accept the terms of service again. 90% of the time one of those two things will fix market issues. More market troubleshooting tips here.
If you want the new market and it has not downloaded to your phone you can try uninstalling updates and sometimes when the update reinstall you get the latest version.
