[Q] Offcial car mount vs otterbox - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've been wondering if defy in otterbox will fit in the official motorola car mount, has anyone tried that?

The official car mount or the Defy Fit just perfectly. So I don't think you can use any case with this car mount. Even without case it's sometimes hard to pick up the phone out of the mount.
you'll need a case that didn't cover the angle and that's very thin on the back to expect using it on the official car mount

Yeah, heard similar answer from two sellers So I need to look for something adjustable

Window suction cup or dash mount?

anyone seens a window suction cup or dash mount for the tilt? i wish to mount this like a gps in my car.
I would avoid the suction cup type due to vibration. I drive a stock VW Jetta and it made my devices (8125 & 8925) bounce on relatively falt roads. There are a few that are mopre sturdy, but the goose neck tyoe will anoy you (it did it to me) Try Semsons or there is another that makes a mount just for the Tilt (custom made and swivels) but I found a universal mount attached to my dash board worked best. (I used a blank panel insert and did a nice custom job, well worth it, but it does not swivel. hope this helps
I bought a cheap car mount off of ebay that came with both mounts, and I much prefer the dash mount to the windows mount. It clips onto the vent and stays there very firmly.

Car mount options for Seidio Rubberized case

I've been going nuts trying to find a car mount option for my Seidio encased Tilt. Has anyone tried one of the universal grip mount options? For example:
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=21890
Thanks....Any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated!
Rich
I use the Herbert Richter GRIPPER 1 universal mount, which looks EXACTLY the same as the one in your link. It works perfectly for me with the Seidio case.
So how do you like it?
any problems with it? I've heard these are generally very good.

GPS Car Mount For Tilt

Hey guys,
I'm looking to purchase a GPS mount for my car so I can use Garmin Mobile XT easily while driving.
Does anyone know of any good GPS mounts that are available?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks.

Samad
www.proclipusa.com (which sells Brodit mounts) - IMO, very well worth the money.
I use the swivel mount on an center vent mount - perfectly situated in my line of sight, within easy finger-reach and with a convienent line down to a power-outlet for the car charger. Since the back speaker is open and unobstructed, voice nav comes through load and clear.
I'd like to purchase that, but my car is a 2008 Altima, so I have rounded vents.
I really would like to have a vent mount, but here is what my interior looks like:
http://www.automedia.com/NewCarBuye...san/Altima/Sedan/2007_Nissan_Altima_int_6.jpg
Based off of that, do you guys have any suggestions?
I ordered one of these over the weekend:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BFLFHQ
It has 3 different mounting options so I figure I should be able to find out which on I like best. I'll let you know what it's like when it comes in.

After looking at a whole bunch of options, I just ended up stopping by BB and getting this one....http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7695023&st=windshield+mount&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1138084373352
Since it's Universal, I won't have to replace it when I get me next device and because of it's design, it's easy to release my Tilt with one hand as opposed to the specially fitted mounts.
It's not as sexy as a fitted mount, but I think it works better.

Hmm that's a nice one. I may pick that up.
However, does anyone know if they make the mounts for Rounded vents like my car has?

So, I finally got this and I really like it. I'm using the suction cup attachment method and it works perfectly. Hasn't fallen off at all and the adjustment arm is very stiff, so my Tilt doesn't shake much. Placing it in the mount is easy too, easy enough to do with one hand, and releasing it from the mount is just as easy. Just push the button and the phone is released. Has padded clamps so nothing gets scratched. Best of all, it was very inexpensive.

looking for a different type of car mount

I am looking for a car mount that I can clip on to something in my car that will hold my phone for road trips, and can basically be quickly moved to another car if I need to. The only requirements are something that can clamp onto the dashboard, and something that will let me hook my car charger in as well.
The reason I was thinking about getting a clamp mount instead of a suction cup mount for my car, is that there have been so many GPS related car thefts in my area I know I am looking for trouble if I leave a suction mount in my car while I am gone. Basically the thefts are because people leave there suction cup mounts in the car the thieves see them, they smash a window, rummage for a GPS and take off with it.
In my case the GPS would be my phone but the crook wouldn't know that, so I might just end up with a broken window for no reason. This is why I want a clamp type of mount that will be less of a hassle to remove then the windshield mount, then I could hide it somewhere so it can't be seen.
The only problem is every time I search google for a clamp mount I get mounts that clamp onto the phone, but still suction onto the window, Does anyone know of a product like what I am describing? or some type of stealth alternative?
mount
I found this one it says it has a Vent mounting clip dunno if thats what your looking for. http://www.boxwave.com/products/mobilemountingkit/index.htm

Herbert Richter holder and mounts?

Does anyone use, or have experience/testing with, the Herbert Richter range of holders and mounts?
http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=172053 for the Touch Pro specific holder and http://www.expansys.com.au/c.aspx?t=cat&m=1057&c=115 for the full range of mounts (suction, vent, handlebar, etc) to attach the holder too.
http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=172309 is the specific mount I am looking at (for a motorcycle) to use with the above holder.
Thanks.
Oh wow these look good and affordable. Better then the universal mount I was going to get, turns out they also make the same universal mount.
Well, I have Herbert Richter holder and mount for HTC Universal (which is a big and heavy phone) and I can say that it holds my UNI firmly and steady for a year or more... today I'm going to post office to get holder and tower arm for Touch PRO (I could use the same arm I already have and buy only a holder but we have two cars at home, so two arms are needed). I'll report this evening are they still as good as they were.
I have the HR for the Pro. But for a motorcycle i prefer a otterbox or a Ram Aquabox 3.
Photo HR Pro
I have the HR mount for the pro - plus a goose neck windscreen mount (which is great) and a vent mount (which is total cack and has broken my vents!)....

Does the phone sit in the HR mount horizontally or vertically, and is the keyboard opened or closed?
I'll answer my own question since I bought this holder. It holds the phone in a landscape mode, although most of the mounts should allow it to swivel.
Keyboard can't open.
One thing I don't like about this holder is when inserting the phone into the holder you have to drag the phone across a plastic holding clip that will likely scratch the phone.

I hold the clip open as I slide the Pro in it.
Herbert Richter Mount
I want something similar. Looks like a good idea. I wanna use mine along with Gmeter to do performance testing on my bike. I think i will zip tie it to the clip though, seeing as the launches are kinda violent.
Let me know if you get that mount. I want to know what you think of it.
