[Q] - SDHC 32GB Problem with EXT - HD2 General

Hi!
I bought a 32GB CLASS 6 Kingston SDHC. It works fine with 1 fat 32 partition.
The problem is when i make a EXT partition for android!
When i try do install any application, the phone restart!
If i go to Format SD-EXT in CWM, i get a error:
Could not acces SD-EXT partition.
Skipping
Somebody know why?

At a rough guess - you have failed to follow the cheofs instructions to the letter
Or as has been reported before the phone does not like your 32 gb card 16's have no issue at all some 32's do search around

[Q] [JAN 17] [HELP] [REQUEST] NAND Android w/ EXT4 support does not support 16GB SDHC

I have tried several builds but the result is disappointing. None of them can boot when I want to use EXT4 partition for data on it with my large SDHC card (16GB)
My 8GB Class 6 microSDHC runs fine but when I want to use Class 10 16GB card, the system crashes on boot...
I think 15GB FAT32 partition (I created 1GB EXT4 partition at the end of the card) is too large to be seen during Android boot or what?
Do you think it will work when I create only 7GB FAT32 and 9GB EXT4 it will work? Or should I switch the order of partitions (EXT4 first?) (it is not good solution but good for test)
Can someone from cooks help here? Thank you very much.
Firstly, this is the wrong section. There is a Q&A section explicitly for questions like this.
Secondly, I have a 16GB card with exactly this setup (15+1) and it works perfectly. Your card is possibly defective. Grab this little program and test it.
I use a 16GB CLASS 6 SD CARD for a long time.
maybe is something wrong with ur 16GB
and never create a partition bigger than 1.5g for your EXT4
I still guess the problem is your 16gb card..
I am also using a 16GB class 6 micro SDHC with no issues so far.
My partitioning is 14+2 (FAT32+EXT4) and runs like a charm.
I agree with the others, there must be something wrong with your card.
Thank you. I will test it using the program...
THe card otherwise works correctly...no bad clusters, missing files....perhaps the Class 10 is only a advertisement and the card is too slow? (because I heard that if the card is too slow then the system may boot too long and also become unresponsive (force close or wait for main android process etc.)
SO to give a public anti-advert I will reveal that my microSDHC card is KINGSTON CLASS 10
I have the same card kingston 16Go C10 and no pb !
My advice, make your partition (after full format fat32) with CWR (swap 0)
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

I've been trying everything to get a NAND install using a (brand new) Kingston 16gb class but have had no luck. The same process works on my sandisk 2gb card. I posted the question earlier today for any advice.
I got same problems with my 16 gb class 10 card (adaTA).
The card is 100% error free and on winmo work superfast. Unfortunately when i try to make ext partition on this than is going to work so sloow and with errors.
I have also PQI 8gb class 6, sandisk 8gb class 2 and samsung 16gb class 2 and I have to say that ext partitioned roms work fastest on slowest sandisk!!!
What is going on?
SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC. no problems with it.
i used gparted livedisc to format 1gb ext4 partition. works great
32 GB ok but what class?

Camera issue on RAFDROID HD 3.2.2

Everything on the ROM works great , however I'm having an issue getting the camera to work it keeps saying no sd card found ......
I'm not sure what the setup is suppose to be on the SD card,
I've tried fat32 primary then ext 3
then fat32 prim them fat 32 again
anyone help me out
Had a similar problem with another build which worked well but it couldn't find the SD where it(self) was installed.
I have tried 3.2.2 and the camera works fine so probably it is better to just reinstall the OS.
I don't understand why you had an ext3 partition I did use just a fat32 and it worked fine.
Paolo
it's my understanding that you should start with a nice clean format so format the whole sd card.
then get a partition program of your choice that can do what is needed.
move resize the first primary fat32 so that you have unallocated space of 1024. that space then needs to be assigned primary ext3. then format and that's what i did with my card and all seems fine.
then format and all should be good at least that's what i did with the partition program.
maybe your sd card isn't reading right i also read some cards were hit or miss on rafdroid.
I've tried different cards from different manu's still nothing tried formtaing differently same result, not sure what I'm missing
Not sure if you solved your problem. I had the same issue with SD RAFDROID 4.2 on a 16GB class4 SanDisk microSD card.
original partitions were:
FAT32 - 64K block size - primary
ext3
linuxswap
RAFDROID didn't detect an SD card when it came to camera and other operations that were SD dependant.
I used minitool and changed the partitions to a single FAT32 partition, with 32K bloxk size and set to primary and it worked like a charm ... this build is really good!
You may wanna backup the folders on your SD to your pc.

[Q] SD Card Partition

I just bought 32GB sandisk sd and I tried every known way to create ext partition but every time I got the same, ıt creates an "OTHER" partition.
Please donot suggest these options.
UBUNTU 10.10 (I have dual boot on PC)
Mni Partition tool
Easeus Partition tool
CMW
I guess it is hardware (SD CARD) problem. do you know any sollition
Also I searched in forum, there is no same problem :S
am I only one who has THE problem??!!
no body? :/
Try partitioning your SD card through CWM. Keep in mind that doing this WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR SD CARD!!
Go to CWM, choose advanced, partition SD card.
First choices are for EXT partition, choose 1024MB, 0 for Swap.
Once completed, mount usb storage, throw a backup or install your new rom.
I tryed that to but its no longer a problem I just broke it to 4-5 parts
Maybe try GParted, I partitioned my 8GB card with it.
I want that 32 gb card. T-T Sad... xD
Sorry about you having to waste your money on something that didn't work though. ._.
Well a 16 gb card will work.
experiencing the same problem - i have a 32GB card and when partitioned it is read as "OTHER" have no idea why 2GB, 4GB and 8GB will work but 32GB cant be partitioned to a2SD
need help fixing this problem

[Q] Problems to get my ext partition seen...

Hi all,
One question:
Can it be, that with some SD-cards the creation of an ext partition is not possible?
I've got a sandisc 32GB card in my HTC HD2.
I formatted it in an external reader under XP using 'card formatter' in fat32.
Then I used partition manager to create one big fat32 partition, cluster size 4096 an a small, 1GB ext4 partition, same cluster size. Both are set to primary, first is fat, second is ext.
It doesn't matter, if I choose ext2, 3 or 4, as soon as I insert the card in my phone, the ext partition is not seen by it...
Using Titanium Backup, the ext partition should show up...
Under XP, in partition manager, everything works out smooth and both partitions show up fine.
Thank you for your suggestions!

what do you mean when you say ext partition is not seen by phone?
When you open titanium backup, in the lower part of the window, it shows:
System-ROM: 'size(free)'
Intern: 'size(free)'
SD-card: 'size(free)'
and then there should be ext?: 'size(free)'
but it doesn't show up...

Format the SD-card using CWR (P.s. everything gets deleted on the SD-card)
in CWR, the card gets formattedd, but no ext partition comes up
I tried several times, but checking in my cardreader, there is no ext partition
I read and tried already so many tutorials and howtos from xda and other forums, that for now, I'm a bit confused...
Some of them say, the ext partition has to be the first, and others say, it has to be the second...
But all point out, both have to be primary and clustersize should be 4k...
So I start to think, maybe its because the card is too big?
All reports refer to cards smaller than 32GB...
what rom are you using ?
[OCT16] AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7 | bk2sdext [KERNEL:ACA823]
thats an SD build isnt it? i dont think the ext partition works on sd builds but i could be wrong
an ext partitoin is used on nand builds, what exactly are you needing the ext partion for?
no, its a NAND-build, runs on clk...
I was running it from SD for over half a year and switched to NAND-version mid september...
From that time on I tried to get the ext stuff running, by reading and trying, but now I decided to ask
Weird.. I stick my SD-card in a computer and remove all partitions leaving it blank. Then CWR-partition it. Has worked for me all the time..
Can you try with a smaller card??
For me its weird too, I briefly followed every tutorial I've seen so far, moving the ext partition from the beginning to the end, trying different cluster sizes...
Thats why I ask if it might be the size of the card, everything else is working fine.
I've got a 2GB card lying around somewhere I'll try to find it and see if that one works.
One thing, thats making it a pain in the a.. to try again and again is, that in the meantime I've got about 16GB of music on my card, which is taking some time to copy everything back
Ok, just to end this:
I managed, to get it to work.
I didn't change anything in my setup, but after downloading Link2SD from the market, my ext4 partition is recognised and working
It's still not recognised by TB or other skripts, but thats ok for me, as long as I can use it...
