Android Marketplace Blocked - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Greetings,
Question. Is there any way to get around the country restriction in Android Marketplace?
Just installed my first Android ROM on my HD2. Was super excited to hit the marketplace, only to find out that all the good apps are restricted in my country (UAE) can't even get Angry Birds FFS!
Thanks in advance...

Hi,
Are you able to go to Android Market on your laptop/PC?

Is the app 'Market Enabler' available in the UAE?
If so, you could install it and fake a different market region.

Market enabler doesn't always work. hasn't ever worked for me :/
Here are some workarounds:
some sites offer direct app downloads, angry birds for example is available on Opera app store, that's how I got it, you can download opera mobile to your PC and install it on the device, then use opera to enter their app store. a lot of apps there are free.
There are plenty of other sites offering free downloads as well.
Another solution (which is a bit hard) is installing the Android SDK and run android on your PC, and use a proxy to download apps to your PC then copy them to your phone. I heard it worked but haven't tried it myself.

Cannot purchase/upgrade applications through the Market

Hi,
I Cannot purchase/upgrade applications through the Market.
I have no problem downloading & installing apps however when I want to purchase/upgrade from trial to full, I am getting message like this:
No search results.
There are no matches in Android Market for the search:
pname:com.vscorp.android.alphamixr
This happened to me with all apps that I wanted to purchase their full version.
Can someone assist?
Thanks
Hi,
You're probably not in a Google supported region..
Try searching the forums for market enabler app. You do have to root the phone to be able to use the app, but if you really want to purchase apps from Android market, then that's probably the only thing to do until Google starts supporting your region.
Other option is to start using some optional app providers such as SlideMe.org's SAM application (http://slideme.org/).
Not even sure if there are others...

Sadly, These are built in by the developer of the application so they make some money on it.
There are some adfree applications but they usually cost money.
Its a "problem" with most Current Gen mobile OS.
The good thing is, this way we don't need to pay for some very useful applications.
Adfree from market works well on the desire. Tried to install it on the buzz....cannot even find the app in the market
Not sure if it has anything to do with rooting first.

[Q] Apps in Market missing?

Hi people,
I can't find some apps in Market.
Such as Traffic Rush and others.
I am in Hong Kong (non-paid country) but I do have a vodafone UK sim card.
so is this normal?
thanks!
It's because of Wildfires 320x240 (qVGA) Resolution.
You can try to download your Application manually (Traffic+Rush_1.3.apk i guess?) and see if it will run.
The exact answer why we can't see all applications in the market is also already around here in the forums somewhere.

I try install some app copy from a G3 friend, some report error when install, some installed but button can not display normal(part / all out of edge).
most of this is games.
more than half is OK.
more over, some app have a QVGA version. like UCWEB,a web browser.
screen is the weakness, just think it may save battery, make you feels better.
maybe we should just wait how things evolve when froyo update is here
Also guys,
Install Appbrain market place and Fast web install from the market.
Use it with Appbrain.com and you can install all applications on the phone(that are free on the market).
Appbrain does not fix the problem. It show all apps, but if they're not available in your standard Market app, you won't be able to download them!!!!
If have a Wildfire since last week. I bought it in France without any career and I use it with a Vodafone spain simcard.
When I was in France, with my spain career I was able to see/download almost all apps... But since I'm back to spain, a lots of apps disappeared from the market.
If you use the fast installer and install from the site it works fine for me.
I downloaded Mixzing this way.
Payed apps like I said are excluded because of Google Checkout.
I downloaded Fast Web Installer and it said it integrated well with AppBrain ... however it still can't download some apps i find in AppBrain. "Element not found"
or do i have to install through appbrain website?!
got it to work ... install through website ... great find!!!
Is the Wildfire rootable yet?
If so, you can install a patched version of the Marketplace app that'll show all the apps that normally get hidden.
This works fine on my QVGA X10mini
see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742608
(FYI, App developers have to specifically say what screen sizes their apps support. QVGA wasn't available in Android 1.5 or earlier, so old apps that haven't been updated won't show up. Likewise lazy authors won't think to test on other screensizes. We need to make sure authors know that there are lots of QVGA devices out there and we want to use their apps!)

does it work only on rooted?
and will the app run normally?
thanks for the help!
I've been using appbrain to get the apps that don't appear in the market and I've found it works really well. All the ones I've downloaded so far have fit the screen perfectly as well, I don't see any reason why they couldn't be made available on the market

I've only tried on a rooted device (since I removed the original vending.apk and replaced it with the patched one)
If you follow my link through to the original HTC Tattoo thread, you'll find the links for the patched apk's so you can try installing it normally and see what happens

[Q] Andriod Market problem

i live in Syria where android market isn't working . i tried TransProxy program to change the proxy , also the market doesn't work!!!
is there any idea or method to enable me to access Android market in Syria??!!
thx
There are a couple of alternative markets available for Android. They have less apps than the official one, but it's probably still gonna be less of a headache than trying to get the official one to work.
The only one I can recall right now is SlideME, but I'm pretty sure there are others too. Download the apk from their websites.
yeah
Am having the same problem with market in syria, and yeah my friend there is no solution yet, slidme is fine but its not like google market, there is a program called appbrain market, its awsome but as usual, blocked in syria too
That's because appbrain isn't a market, it just sort of indexes the google market.

[Q] Latest Youtube apk

Hello,
For some strange reason, I can't find the Youtube application on the market, whichever ROM I try. I used to get it fine on my HTC Magic but nothing on my HTC HD2.
I can't find Vocal Search either but that one can be found in CM's gapps.zip. No Youtube in that pack unfortunately...
So is there an address or thread that keeps an up-to-date .apk of the Youtube app ?
Thank you very much !
Install market enabler. Then launch market enabler, go to setting list, long press either us t-mobile or us-verizon. A menu will appear, press fake this provider now.
Now you'll be able to find the youtube app on market.
I know about that but I don't really want to install an app to get another app. I wouldn't use market enabler for anything else...
Check your PM.

If you're from Belgium and go to the android market website on your computer, you'll see you won't be able to install youtube.apk because it's not allowed in our country. Market enabler is an old well-known solution, but I recall Google having removed the separation between market-regio's so Market enabler was no longer required. So why suddenly is there some country-based restrictions again on some apps :/ Even youtube.. I mean I can easily open a brower on my computer in Belgium and just access youtube so I don't understand why it would be forbidden to open it from a smartphone.
