GO Launcher EX.. Works great, no lagging no problems

I have just started playing around with GO Launcher and loving it, playing around with the fling speed and transition has given it a whole lot more finished feel

I am using the Go Launcher too but i think that after the new minor update it lags on boot. No other lags after that.

I prefer GO Launcher

Zeam for me.
It has all the features I want (custom dock, home screen gestures) and is so incredibly fast.

I was using GO Launcher Ex and loved it but the new Stockwells B160 Rom includes Launcher Pro so I am giving it a run. Frankly I think I prefer GO. there's not really a lot of difference so far as both are very customizable. I think I'll probably go back to GO as I miss the extra option of swipe upwards. I used this as the camera shortcut - if I haven't got glasses on it's not always easy to find the camera shortcut icon when I need it in a hurry. It worked great. It's a shame to waste memory space on a launcher sitting in the rom unused.

You can easily change the Launcher included in the ROM by booting your phone into recovery mode (holding volume + and - keys and power-button) then connect it to a pc and find the launcherpro.apk in /system/app and replace it with the launcher you want to use. I found it more responsive by doing this way then installing a new Launcher-app on the custom one included in the ROM.
This way you can modify the ROM's to use apps that you wan't to use, example other browsers, email- and contact - apps...

Thanks. I had read that in a post here but it didn't sink in.
So is there a particular reason for embedding these apk's in the ROM?

I've experienced a more responsive launcher doing this way
I also got a laggy launcher pro when i updated 0.8.5 -> 0.8.6 through market. When i replaced it in /system/app it worked great again.
It's also good to know if you wan't to remove stock apps you never use..

[Q] First time using EB01 SC 2.4 and have some questions

Just flashed SC 2.4 voodoo rom and have some questions about it.
1. how do you delete the home screen? (I have 7 home screens now.. which is too many for me)
2. When I turn on Camera, it says update firmware. do I have to update firmware?
3. how can you customize shortcut on the bottom (a grey box that have call, app list, browser icon)? sry its kinda similar question as #1.
4. What kind of launcher does Superclean rom use? when i see task manager, icon looks like Touchwiz.. but overall interface and app list look like ADW.. but doesnt have ADW options though.. I'm confused.
I thought I had more questions but I forgot
I will edit this post if I think of more.

1,3, 4: its pretty much the stock aosp launcher, so any kind of home screen customization is out of the question unless you get something else like launcher pro/adw. Its called launcher2, I believe, taken straight from aosp source. So, if you want to change stuff, you're going to have to look at other launchers.
2. Yes.
And if you're looking for alot of customiziation options along with neat transitions built in...try launcher pro. I've been using it for years on different androids and love it.

you mean I can't even set numbers of home screen with 'launcher2'?? thats not good..
what does aosp stand for?
If I use launcher pro or adw, stock launcher will be running in background? running 2 launchers will consume more battery and RAM?
2 launchers won't affect you that much. I used to run LPro and Twiz back on DI01 and could get 24-48 hours of bat life.
From what I have read on other posts just make sure that there are no widgets running on the unused launcher, as they might sitll be using the data connection to update.
AOSP is android open source project.

Personally I recommend Lancher Pro over ADW, but I'm sure others will tell you differently. Free versions of both exists so just try em both out.
Full Battery Popup
I didn't know where to post this but I downloaded the new superclean 2.4, and despite it including a program that should have disabled it, I still got a pop-up notifying me of my full battery in the middle of the night. Does anyone know why I got this or does the full battery popup disable not work for all phones?
If you don't like having two launchers and want more customization options, install Launcher pro and uninstall Launcher ebproductions. I use nothing but LP, none of the other launchers can cut it for me.

Did you wipe prior flashing?
And launcher pro is imho the best hands down. Try the trial and if you like it pay for the full. The twitter and facebook widgets are the best of any out there...bar none.
go launcher
re jenisiz - I used rom manager and always back up previous rom and wipe data but i did not try to do it myself in cwm but now that you mention it I will give it a shot
re triple486 - Launchers make all the difference. I have tried just about everything I could find and I personally liked Go Launcher. Launcher Pro is cool but i would say it is 100 times better for the pay version. You can resize widgets to your liking and there is a lot of support for theming the Launcher Pro widgets. Overall, any launcher seems like it offers more flexibility and features than the stock or aosp launcher. Try the free versions and see what you like.
Battery pop up still there
I cleared all data and the cache twice but the full battery popup is still there.
I did not mention this but i installed the Revolution theme over superclean 2.4. Will that prevent the battery popup from being disabled?

Yeah, the only cool thing about the stock AOSP launcher is the 3D app drawer, LauncherPro does this as well but it's not quite as good.
Once LauncherPro/ADW is installed and running, you can use the task manager to kill the other launcher so it's not running in the background.
Press your home key and set the default to LauncherPro/ADW and it will use these by default from then on and the other launchers will not run.
I personally use Launcher Pro on all my android devices and I always recommend it over ADW but they're both good and its just a matter of personal preference, you can install both and try them - it wont hurt anything and they hardly take up any space.
If you set one as a default and want to change the default again go to settings > applications > manage applications - find the launcher you set as a default, and click "Clear Defaults".

[DL] Stock Play Gingerbread Launcher (w/ landscape mode)

Want the stock gingerbread look for your Play? Want a landscape supported launcher? Don't have a Verizon Xperia Play?
Ripped from the R800x system. Download and set as your default launcher. If you have root, you can freeze/delete the SE Home launcher to free up space.
Supports landscape mode when you slide down the control pad, and you can use the gamepad to navigate between home screens, open apps, etc. You'll probably want to turn off the auto launch 'get more games' app though (use menu key, settings, disable auto-start on slide)

thanks axiomjunglist, nice post, pushed it to /system/ and works well, i'm sticking with Launcher pro plus though, but its nice to have
Now the question is how do we make it fully stock? I tried the dialer but seems to not work well. I got the settings(black), calculator, keyboard and messaging app all to work by installing the apk form the Verizon system dump. Besides getting the dailer to work, is there anything more to make it stock?

So far so good, some I pushed to /system/app/ and some I had to install like any other apk. Just about everything works except 2 things. The dialer/phone app the ui was messed up so I had to go back to the SE version and 2nd the settings does work but some options force closes on you. ie. brightness and volume. Besides that everything else works.
I have no idea if this works for people who are not rooted. If anybody can test that would be cool...

Hmm... good to know. I had recently switched over to the free Google Music player and that has its own widget so I didn't notice SE's music player widget gone. Unfreezing/restoring SE Home brings it back. It seems like they tied the widget into the launcher unfortunately...

I'm 99% positive it will work for a non-root user. Just download and install. When you hit the home key it will ask what you want to use for as a launcher, just pick the new launcher and check 'use by default' if you don't want that message every time you hit home. If you don't like it just go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Launcher -> Uninstall. It will default back to the old SE Home launcher next time you hit the home key. You can't screw it up because as a non-root user you cannot delete SE Home launcher.

Launcher probably vs go launcher

I've become pretty accustomed to launcher pro since i used to use it on my mt4g and now again since it was included with g-lite on my G2 but i have always been curious about go launcher... it looks like it has more customization options and features than launcher pro but i'm not sure and i don't necessarily feel like re doing all my launcher settings and stuff if go launcher sucks.
So does anyone use go launcher? Is it any better or different from launcher pro? Does it consume any more or less resources than launcher pro would probably be the biggest thing...
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA Premium App
theyre both pretty much the same now, launcher pro is still a bit ahead cause the widgets are kinda cooler
if you want less resources consumed and no lags at all use the stock launcher, it doesnt have customizations tho
You won't have to redo your Launcher Pro configuration/settings if you try Go Launcher. You can try/install as many launchers as you want. If you want to switch back to another launcher, you just need to clear defaults in Settings>Applications>Manage applications>(current launcher). Then press home, and pick the launcher that you want to switch to, and it will still be setup how you left it. Or use an app like Home Switcher for Foryo (works for Gingerbread, too). to make switching a bit faster.
It's can be use and all the same. With g-lite ROM i'm using GoLauncher, when i want i use Launcher7 - winphone7 launcher - with no problem

[Touchwiz] Best screen responsiveness from touchwiz?

Is it just me or does touchwiz have better screen responsiveness than go launcher/other launchers?

Touchwizz is much snappier / more lagfree then GoLauncher. It's even faster underclocked to 800 MHz then stock 1,2 GHz with GoLauncher.

I second this
Go launcher is laggy. Launcher Pro on the other hand is as fast as touchwiz
Go Launcher was laggy on my first installation but snappy on my second installation. I don't know what changed between the two but it was as quick as LP
I noticed this when I tried GO launcher, almost as if when you swipe between screens there is an ever so slight delay, which is not major, can get a little annoying.
TW is slick and super fast compared

The one on the desktop is minimalist text (for when i swipe the notification bar off).
The one on the notification bar I added using the kitchen app from the market which is for use with the Revolution Rom.
In the kitchen app you just chose a theme/feature, click ok, it downloads, installs and reboots, plus it has many other features in the app like BLN and EDT, kernel change, boot ani change, battery sound on/off, slide glow on/off etc. etc. etc. and kitchen is always being updated.
A great rom and the kitchen app sets it apart

So why do you prefer the Go launcher over TW?
Things I found I didn't like with GO, the calendar widget on TW especially the month view one I prefer, also mini paper although it works with GO, when you click the plus to add another widget note, it opens TW to tries and add it to one of those screens instead of the Go screen, I use mini paper a lot, best postit note type widget that actually works from the home screens quickly.

I use the memo thing that came with TW the one with the cork background it is really nice.
One of the other nice things about Go ex is that the dock keys can be swiped to give second user defined function, eg open file manager, plus they can be drag and dropped replaced!
Also customisation, icons can be renamed and/or swapped with other icons from other download themes.
I have used both adw ex and LP plus for quite some time, but I really can't see me changing. Even the Go keyboard shocked me with how good it looks and how fast it is, and it has (at a swipe) a T9 keyboard or an arrows keyboard... (iphone theme keys

TW4.0 is mostly HW accelerated, it runs smoother and consumes less cpu cycles compared to other launchers.
Hmm it seems Launcher Pro is just as responsive as touchwiz. Is there any way to change dock icons for touchwiz? Also is it possible to set the app drawer icon in the middle as opposed to on the right side?

Like the phone so far but ..... need help with a hidden menu

Hi,
In every other android based phone I've owned I've always had an option to hide apps I don't use allot so you just drag an app up to the top and there are usually two options: Uninstall and Remove which places it in a vault for safe keeping. This doesn't seep to be present on this phone and I HATE cluttered desktops so I'm a bit bummed about this so I thought I'd reach out and see if I'm not figuring this out.
I am now aware of the right swipe that brings me to some other settings but there is no app vault there for hiding apps I don't use.
Also is there a way to uninstall allot of the bloat ware this phone came with? I use Google apps for most of my needs and Opera as my main browser so having these other apps on board isn't much to my liking and again without a vault of some kind to take them off of hte desktop...... no fun!
I do know about the combining apps into "folders" and renaming them but I'd just like the apps GONE that I don't and never will use.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
You could just download another launcher with the option to vault apps and about the bloatware you can follow this tutorial right here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/how-to/remove-redmi-note-7-bloatware-root-t3925049
Can you recommend a launcher that's stable and good? I've tried a few on my tablets but ended up going back to the default as they were mostly unstable... I'm sure it's going to be different on a phone but it was a bit disheartening to try about 4 launchers on my Lenovo tablet and just didn't like them at all.
Thanks for the quick reply!
Nova Launcher is pretty good
Give a try to poco launcher.
Very stable.
I use Evie Launcher, lightweight amd simple to use

You can try CPL (Customized Pixel Launcher) from playstore. I guess CPL is the best in term of stability, optimizations and LOTs of customization, you wont find in any launcher IMO
No need for Nova launcher or Poco ,new system launcher alfa version ,have new options , swipe up to app drawer..
Hmmm, but if there is an App Drawer in a newer version of the launcher that ships with this phone I wasn't aware of that but the main thing for me, besides the drawer or vault or what ever it's called (too many strange labels to understand what I'm trying to say ) I really need that bit when I'm dragging up to allow me to remove the app from the desktop. In the default there is that weird option that seems to replace the "remove" option.... called "Dual apps" which I have NO IDEA what that's all about and really don't care.
I'm using Poco and it's nice enough. I love the dark theme option but one thing I am missing is when one gets new phone calls or texts the icons in the lower bar area usually changes to indicate how many there are waiting. With the Poco set up there doesn't seem to be any indicators like that... or perhaps it's because I changed the icon set out?? Not sure what's caused that to stop working.... Weird.
Thanks for all the suggestions good people!
