Sprint Premier Silver members, you still get your 1yr upgrade. - EVO 4G General

I just had a conversation with Sprint Customer Support about my upgrade.
I am considered a Sprint Premier Silver customer, 7 years service and the 1500 minute shared everything plan.
My upgrade for 1 yr on the previous premier set up came in February but I had bought an EVO off contract when my Hero died trying to save my upgrade for the new phones of the summer.
Obviously with the premier change I got borked, or at least I thought I was.
All Sprint Premier Silver customers are eligible for a one time override due to the change of plans. You do have to call into customer service and ask for it, she called it a Tier One Override and said it is a relatively new change to their policy.
I am now throwing down $50 to pre-order the EVO 3D.

It depends on who you talk to. The guts at my local sprint store gave us the new upgrade price on one of my lines. Not sure if I can get it on the other line. Looks like the wife gets the evo 3d lol.

No, they didn't give me the $75 off, they gave me the full upgrade of $150.
Thats why I posted it for people who would be getting their upgrade if it wasnt for the policy change, they WILL let you have your full upgrade. You simply have to request it.
The customer service rep said she couldn't do anything, I asked for a supervisor. A few moments later she came back on and apologized saying there was a new policy that allowed it. Never even spoke to the supervisor. She said my account was immediately reset for an upgrade.
I have since gone to the sprint store by my house, asked them to verify, and placed a pre-order down.

I got my full $150 upgrade back as of July 1st. Does this mean I get $150 off the retail price? Also, does the 2 year upgrade reset my contract from the time I get the new phone or is it stacked on top of the year I have left?

You are signing a new 2 year agreement, it doesn't stack on top of any time remaining on your previous contract. That isn't how their early upgrade has ever worked.

Got my Sprint rebate today...pleasantly surprised!

So I'm pretty sure Sprint owed me a $100 rebate...I bought my Evo for $300 plus tax ($45), and Sprint granted me a $70 renewal credit for reupping my previous SERO line for another 2 years (afterwards I switched plans when I bought the Evo).
So I get my rebate check in the mail today, and instead of the $100 my check was for $250!
I remember reading that Sprint has done this before, sent people $250 instead of the $100, but I sure as hell am not complaining. My net payment for the phone is $25!
Dang, my rebate came today also, but it was only $100.
bought my phone the day of the release but barely sent me rebate in last week.. damn i should have just took care of it that same day.. guess ill continue to wait

It's one thing to commit some kind of fraud but keeping money they send you is not sticking it to them, it's letting them stick it to themselves..

I have no qualms taking the money. The alternative? Talking to customer service for hours, potentially waiting weeks for another rebate...
This is not the first I've heard of sprint doing this, even my friend received two rebates for the same submission before. Either they're not paid enough to do their jobs right, or they're downright incompetent. To be honest, sprints random incompetence in this case and their ability to still provide great service despite this keeps me as a customer, believer it or not.
When I first signed up for sprint I was supposed to get $100 in referrals...i didn't get them but enjoyed my service from sprint anyways...and still referred people.
The mistake is not my fault, I don't know anyone who would take the headache if trying to correct it over cashing the check
Last year when I was working for sprint I upgraded my phone to the blackberry tour and sent in my rebate. I paid 300 for the device and renewed my contract. I got my rebate a month later and it was for 300 dollars. I got my phone for free and my coworker who did the same upgrade got his rebate for 100.
I checked with someone at sprint since I worked there and they told me to keep it. So right now I'm waiting for my next rebate right now and I am interested to see if I get another cool MIR. The last one helped me buy my laptop and if the do it again the next one will help me pay for my wedding.

Ha, it's actually funny you call me a thief for this.
I called Sprint yesterday to report a gameloft game that was mistakenly charged to my account 6 times, instead of once. The charge looked like a single $29.94 charge and I told them $4.99 of it was legit but they took the whole $30 off anyways.. Then they offered me a $70 rebate to reset my contract to begin yesterday, and I was VERY clear about maintaining my Dec first upgrade
THEN they ship a free airrave for a line on my account thats used in a rural area, and waive the mir for it AND removed the spending limit on my account..
Despite all that: Yes, I would let Sprint mistakenly send me money and keep it, especially when (as nhutpham mentioned) the alternative is likely spending another hour or two of my life on the phone with Sprint's courteous but incompetent CS.

I got my rebate last week from Sprint for $100. A few days before that, I got my $100 Visa Gift card from Bluefish (corporate discount package deal). So my total true cost for the EVO was only $99. Well worth it!

Doubtful as Best Buy cannot do anything with your bill. They might be willing to take 35 dollars off the price of the thing, but very doubtful
Is this true? If so I just jizzed in my pants. My family calls me a Costco Evangelist. I was all worried that I would have to return this tablet every 14 days at Best Buy until a wifi-only version came out.
With Costco I might keep it, or just return it once when the wifi-only version comes out. Costco is awesome, beyond their EPIC return window, they also have an almost unlimited return policy for things that stop working. I have returned things 12 months later with no problem.
Were you seriously going to return and repurchase a xoom every 14 days just so you can say you have the thing first?
I'm not sure that that's something you should openly admit to, just seems sad.

Sad, nah. Exploitive, yes. The problem is that I want a wifi-only version, but I need a tablet now. I have been needing one for a few months now, but was unhappy with all the options available. If they would do the wise thing and release the wifi-only version first or simultaneously, I wouldn't have to play games. Or if they didnt mark it up 250$

Take this with a grain of salt but I spoke with one of the phone guys at costco on the 15th and he said they expected to have it for about $100 less than best buy and verizon just like they currently do on the galaxy tab. I tend to believe that considering marking a $500 item down to $400 is a lot bigger of a cut than knocking an $800 item down to $700 is.
I talked to my buddy at the costco (yea i work there myself). The email said they will get the live demo starting on the 22nd. It also said starting the 24th they would get the actually product. It didn't say the price though. You WILL be required to get a month of service. The rumor is about $100 less just like the samsung tab. If i get anymore info, i'll keep this updated. I'm also waiting to get it myself.
Now how about the Wifi version $100 less at $500!!! Oh, what joy that would bring!
I really want this soon, price is my only concern. They better announce the Wifi version next week and say it's coming in no more than 1-2 weeks, I've waited far too long...I can't stand it...

Went to sprint today

Went to sprint today to check on getting a mini 10 (1012) netbook, while I'm eligible to add a line I thought this could be a good idea, but I don't want to pay the additional $60 a month, so I'm going to pass on that, but heres where it gets good, well for me.
I asked my sales associate about what is going on with the premier deal, I explained everything going on with the changes, her nor the other associates had a clue about this, meaning they have never heard of the gold/ silver ordeal, not even their manager, they can only surmise that whatever changes took place are for corporate.
So I asked about my upcoming upgrade that I had originally, she said from where she stood looking at the screen, I was still eligible come june for the $150 off, even though sprint has me shown as silver now online.
Evo 3D, here I come baby.
So I feel better about my visit this morrow, but how can corporate stores be clueless on these changes?

Sounds pretty lame if they are unaware. Also have you verified that Sprint pulled your upgrade, prior to this visit ? What does your eligibility say online? Or text the word "upgrade" no commas, to 1311. You may have been one of the lucky few that never got it removed?

Online it shows I'm eligible, but only at silver, but that would mean if anything I'd only get $75 off, yet she said I'd get $150 off, maybe il check the texting and see what that says.

$75 for the one year upgrade is a drop in the bucket, might as well pay full price and wait two years ($150 + ~$100-200 instant savings + $50-$75 extension credit).
I just checked mine at it said I was eligible for a $75 upgrade on 6/1/11 with a 2 year contract...where as before (like a month ago) it said I had a $150 upgrade. I remember seeing a number somewhere for spring customer service or something that you could call and they would roll it back to your previous upgrade amount? I mean yea $75 is better than nothing but still, they jewed me on my original upgrade. And I'm supposedly a gold member.

According to the store today when I visited, they said I'll still get the $150 come june, but I guess we'll see when I go in, I'd still think I would only get $75 though.

You're only gonna get $75 off retail bro. Unless you get the right rep on the phone to change it. Better off buying on craigslist/eBay and 10mos from then, you'll be full upgrade eligible.
I made a thread about Silver Premier Override, check it out. It might work for you, but not technically supposed to. Or you can jump to the $89mo plan and be Gold eligible in 3mos, then switch back to your old plan after upgrading.

Again I'll find out when I go back in June, not really a big deal to me, but if they claim I'm eligible, and still at $150, then great, if not $150, but $75, then again great, either way I'm happy, cause everything I've seen or have talked to says I can upgrade, what is at question is how much off though.

Sprint Premier Customers can get the 3D now

....and Sprint will waive the upgrade fee.
According to the email, it appears to be available through their website only. HOWEVER, I'm sure it can be haggled in their stores on the 24th.
If Best Buy agrees to honor their promo, I'm sold. The Buyback Program basically gives away the 3D for free (or @ a great discount if you didn't sign up for it @ the time and just trade in your phone w/ them for an $80 in-store credit).
Either way, this sounds promising...

No.
This is only for premier customers that have an eligible upgrade. It's a pre-order for premier customers only.

Yes that is true, the upgrade fee and shipping is waived, so it's only the $199 fee.

Huh? it's ONLY with an eligible upgrade, so he wouldn't be able to upgrade for the $199 since he used his upgrade in Jan and still have 17 months before he's eligible for a full upgrade.

17 mo? It's a 12mo wait if he's a Premier customer w/ 10 yrs + as a customer (or w/ a sufficient amount of gripes on his account).
And, just to reiterate, I called Sprint Cust Svc. and yes, us Shifters can get the 3D for $199, regardless of eligibility status. I spent no more than 10 min on the phone venting about poor 3G service, and was advised that they'd honor the advertised price to keep my business (12 yr customer, 9 mo until upgrade anniversary).
Footnotes: Shifters. Gripe. Get. 3D. $199. Minimal. Hassle.

I should have been more specific, I apologize.
Fees waived. Upgrade eligibilty still technically being required. Complaining removes the requirement lol.

Thanks, gonna have to give it some thought. My wife is getting one on Fri and if I really like it I may take a shot at trying to get myself one. I am a little hesitant to reset my upgrade eligibility to June since Tegra 3 devices are supposed to be coming out at the beginning of 12

So as long as that offer is good for retail stores(dont see online only anyware so I assume so) Anyone who bought from bestbuy is entitled to $50 back from their 30 day price match guarantee.
If you want to see just goto Radioshacks site it's on the main page and if you click into a S3 it will say $149.99
Edit: I can now confirm personally that it works... 2 phones $175 back on price match #winning!

Sometimes a few of the best buy's won't price match online prices. The picture I posted was from the Walmart in Farmington Missouri. I know best buy will price match a brick and mortar store.

I got my S3 for 149.99$ because i bought the Evo 4g LTE and then exchanged phones, so the giftcard was applied to my evo's 199$ price... could i go back and have them price match to save another 50$?
Well I had some little snooty B**** not price match because none of the Radio Shacks around here have the actual phone in stock. I'm going to be calling them daily and as soon as I find one in stock, I'm running back to BB and hopefully getting the price match.
I may also try another BB or two before then, just in case they are more easy to work with.
My best buy said it's only the price for new customers and because I as an upgrade they couldn't honor the price

I would try a different one, the webpage I printed out even says with Contract extension which is how most of us upgraded.

BestBuy in Westbury NY just issued me my refund. As i walked in I saw the MGR of the mobile department on the phone with a customers phone. He gave it back to them and customer walked out. I asked him about the radio shack promo and he said he was just on the phone with the radio shack down the block and that the promo was only for new subscribers. After i showed him the print out from the net that clearly states new line/contract or contract extention, he went on the web himself, verified and issued my refund of $54.32.
If you were that guy in the hat and a cast on your hand that left BB in Westbury, go back and claim your refund.
