I had my Nexus One since last march, and apart from the 2second bug, I had no problems with it at all. I've never rooted it as it is a company phone.
Yesterday, when idle, it rebooted into the bootloader and wasn't responding to anything. I tried to take out the battery at least two dozen times without success until it finally rebooted properly.
The battery wasn't drained (it was at 76% when I managed to reboot) - anyone had similar experience? This is a bit worrying, I don't want to replace my Nexus One for at least two years (or until I fall in love with a phone like I did with this one, and the Nokia N95 before that) I've only had 4 phones since 1999.
- sorry I've posted in the wrong forum, I meant to post this to the Q&A section of the Nexus One forum, I hope a mod can transfer this
any water damage or u dropped your phone by accident¿

Hey guys a friend of mine got this phone about 3 weeks ago and is having some serious battery drain. Like from fully charged to the red in about 3 hours with minimal use. I told her to take it back and get another one. What I would like to know is if this is normal for this phone or just luck of the draw and got a defect. Thanks and apologize if this was already posted or is in the wrong place.

You can go under settings>about phone>battery>what's using battery and see what the highest percentage of use is. That may narrow it down to an app or android process causing the drain. Is the phone rooted or unrooted?
Unrooted completely stock and the screen eats about 97%of the battery. I dropped the brightness to its lowest level disabled wifi and everything else I could think of but the battery life really had no improvement

So im pretty new with the Galaxy S3 and android in general. After having this device for a few weeks, it has really messed up my schedule, mainly cause I use it way too much.
So heres my problem. Before I go to bed I use the phone to browse and play for a good 3 hours. Checking XDA, flashing roms, youtube, facebook and a google reader. I end up going to bed at 1 or 1:30 AM. Then I wake up at 8am too late to go to the gym and workout so instead I browse Google Reader (for my morning news) and next thing you know im reeeaaallyy late for work.
So im asking for your help. Is there an app that can disable most functionality or certain apps based on certain times? I know this is a bizzare thing to ask for, but knowing that the Android can do so many things after rooted Im sure its possible. I would be incredibly happy if this phone just would disable itself until I get to work or stop all apps besides phone and sms after like 10:00PM. Kind of like some hardcore parental controls.
I have even started setting alarms to remind me to sleep but even that is not working for me. Self control is hard when it becomes an addiction. Its been 3 weeks I feel like I need my life back. I had no problem going to sleep when all I had was a lousy BlackBerry.

This.... Is.... A... Joke right??? The best solution I can come up with is to take a long look at your life and determine what is more important to u..?? Or set an alarm for a specific time. Once it sounds just turn the brilliance that is the incomparable Galaxy SIII on it's face then if you feel an urge to glance at it more than sleep just think this specific thought. "Perrywinkle needs to tinkle, and Mrs. Claus married Christian Kringle." Idk why but it puts me to sleep and gives me good dreams!!

Stay away from drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.
With an addictive personality like yours the above three things will have you homeless in 3 days.
On a serious note, there is a great function already built in to the phones for this particular problem and its called the power button, best used in conjunction with some self control.
This genuinely sounds like a cry for help, but the thing is, you are asking to be saved from an inanimate object...

I guess its meant to be a joke.
I am addicted to Diablo 3 instead of S3 though
Im giving tasker a try today. Its not a joke and youre all right, i can simply shut off the device. Im not trolling either but sorry if my question is a waste of your time. But ok, perhaps this is the wrong forum to ask this sort of question. I think i may already have found my solution through tasker. Thanks everyone.

Sounds more like you smoked your phone.
Seems like everyone that has done this exact thing has had the same issue. You will need to call Google support and see if they can help you out. As it stands your phone is toast.

People stop overclocking it. We had like a dozen of reports in here of the phone dying after that.

Agreed. This phone is fast enough. Why push it?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I'm not sure why someone would over clock this phone. Phones are made for everyday usage not for cool high numbers on a benchmark app. If anything this phone could be underclocked to save some battery and it still be extremely usable for everyday life. I hope you can somehow get Google to help you out. If you fried it don't tell them that just tell them you woke up and it was on the charger dead. I've done it before years back in my early days of not reading enough and trying to mod my phone. If you fried it they will probably never know. Just my 2 cents

Hi guys,
This is my first post but I have been reading the posts about getting the most out of your battery and wondered if you if thought Google might offer a larger battery for the Nexus 4 like Samsung is doing for the S3.
Thanks

It is removable but its not as easy.
Highly doubt it. Even if you were able to (successfully) remove the battery and replace it with a custom larger one, you wouldn't be able to keep the OEM back (unless the custom battery came with a back). And it'd be thicker. And there'd be no shininess. Therefore, no.

Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda premium
well you could replace the screen. or just take it back & get a replacement device. within 14 days verizon would give you a new one. not sure about other carriers.
I'm from belguim.there is no verizon here ^^

If it's red it would then be a stuck pixel? There are some ways to potentially fix those (flashing images of different colours very quickly), but being brand new I would replace the phone.

Try playing this video (don't directly stare at it):

Keep it going for a while.
There's an 8-hour version if you're willing to try that overnight before returning it.

If only one pixel out of 2073600 pixels is stuck or dead and it doesn't affect you much, then keep it.
But if it bothers you, you are fully entitled to exchange your new phone.
Same problem here, bought a S4 this morning with one dead or stuck pixel (green dot on black background).
Already exchanged at the store with no problem.

These things never does. I have had a lot of devices with stuck/death pixels - always seems to be a 1st batch issue. And always we find these "fix" recommendations but they NEVER work Swap it.
I had a red stuck pixel on my Galaxy S2, I removed it by simply rubbing the screen on the dead pixel while applying pressure.
It disappeared and never came back
I'd be devastated rather take it back.
