[DEV]Boot and shutdown animations - Optimus One, P500, V Themes and Apps

Hi all. Just discovered something that i want to share with you.
You know when you turn on your phone and that grey LG logo pop up? You can change it by editing the initlogo.rle(if i remember correctly) in the boot.img file. Though,be sure to encode it CORRECTLY in rle format.
Also, you know that other LG logo animation that appears after the grey LG logo? You can edit that animation(or maybe remove it) by editing or deleting rle files in "bootimages" folder.
You know also, when you turn off phone, you see another LG logo animation? That images,in .pro format, are stored in Poweroff.apk. You can delete them for avoid the LG logo shutdown anim.

-.-"
I saw this post WAY to late!
But thnx!

Bytecode, this question is for you. I tried following your way to figure out how to work on my rom that im running, to change to boot up splash and shutdown splash, but when i use root explorer i cant find the bootup.rle file or any .rle file for that matter. If you can take a look at the rom im running maybe you can help me. Im still new here so im not even sure if my rom can do it or whatever. But the rom i have is AOKP 4.0.4 ics based. i had to change the boot anim. didnt like that i had a unicorn on my screen like that lol. If you can take a look at it and find a solution for me to change to .rle file to it. I found out my screen res so i found a pic with that res i liked and turn it into a .rle from png. i just need a path and/or solution to it thanks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613712
the above site is the link to the rom i have...4th post to download from mediafire.
Thank you for your help and if anybody knows the answer to my question Id greatly appreciate the advice. thanks a lot everyone.

boot.img is present in rom zip file you downloaded.
I think you can use dsixda's Android Kitchen(option 20) to unpack the contents of boot.img

[Q] MIUI SMS Background

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my MIUI.
I can't change the SMS background , I have a few themes which include new sms conversation background but it does not change. It's always white. Even with my WP7 theme where my background should be dark . Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Hey,
Found some info over the weekend on 1 of the miui website threads about this...
they've changed the name of the sms backgrounds in the latest version, I'm on my phone at the mo' so to save writing an essay il post my sms mtz file.
I think you only need to change the conversation list bg to window_background_texture.png
but I changed all 3 (see inside file for comparison)
i see what you mean but how do i use it now?
edit: I just renamed it like you said and it worked Thanks man!!

hey,
open your theme.mtz or backup.mtz from the miui folder (change file extension to .zip)
look for com.android.mms in the zip
this file has no extension you need to add .zip to open it (com.android.mms.zip)
look inside \res\drawable-hdpi and change the following .png names:
conversation_list_titled_bg.png > window_background_texture.png
conversation_list_titled_bg1.png > window_background_texture1.png
then put everything back in its orignal state/ format and apply via theme manager.

Btw, when I try to change some app notification tone (for example: Whatsapp),
and I choose from Theme, it's empty, there used to be the theme's tone list,
is it have to do with the change too ? is there a way to fix it ?
Thanks again !

This will break the background in the conversation list screen.
Make a copy of the conversation_list_titled_bg.png file, rename it to window_background_texture.png, then add this to the archive.
Make sure you have both conversation_list_titled_bg.png and window_background_texture.png files in the archive.

Hi Srinukota, welcome to the forum.
This thread is six years old, and probably for an earlier version of miui.
What device do you have? Rooted? What version of MIUI?
The more info you give, the more chance someone might know the answer.

SystemUI.apk problem

So, as posted on the lenovo community forums, now that we have obtained root we can change the system bar icons (ie back, home, apps) back to stock by swapping out some png files.
I've successfully pulled the file and changed the files using winrar on my pc but the problem I have is putting the SystemUI.apk back into the /system/app folder where it belongs... it gives an error saying not enough free space for the move.
I'm not knowledgeable with adb to know how to use the commands to push and mount the system folder, so I've tried Root Explorer and ES File Manager both with the same problem.
In both File Managers I've had root access and mounted the folder as read/write. I also deleted a bunch of lenovo apps out of there that were much larger than the SystemUI.apk that I've been trying to replace so I don't know what else to do.
Any suggestions?
I've had similar strange problem and I only made some space by deleting so you can try to push Lenovo apps on data partitions that's several times bigger that system one.
We had managed to replace the stock status bar with the default honeycomb one on the K1:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13407-al...-120109-build/page__view__findpost__p__333904
**just realized that the link to the statusbar uses megaupload, will try to reupload later.
I just did this mod my tablet, no issue with the size at all.
Hey,
just messed up with my systemui.apk and now my taskbar is completely gone. I tried to backup with titanium but nothing changed -> always a forceclose message appears.
I also tried to copy and paste the file from the titanium folder manually into system/apps but still the same.
does anyone know what to do? looking forward to some answers.

some suggest to hide the taskbar (e.g. honeyhide etc) but i would rather like to get rid of the wheel only.

Anyone have any experience developing ROMs for specific devices?

No way!? HC or ICS?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but ICS would be significantly harder to implement at this point due to no drivers etc and you'd have to port everything essentially, right?

[MOD] Windows 8 Store RTM URL trick?

And with a bit of URL trickery, we were able to gain access to the RTM version of Windows Store

[Q] How to change the Bootscreen/Motorola Logo on startup?

I know that the Bootscreen is stored on /dev/block/mmcblk1p10
I also made an cool Bootscreen inspired by the actual Motorola Bootscreens but I dont know the exact steps to get it on the phone
On the cm7 zip there was a custom '' logo.img '' I think that was the bootscreen(?)
For the Milestone1 I found a tutourial but this method doens't seem to work on the Milestone2

Well this is an interesting topic. While having a look at it i found out that for everyone who wishes to change the animated bootlogo from the cyanogen logo to a different one the file is called bootanimation.zip and its located at /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Some awesome bootanimations can be found at droidboots under downloads/boot-animations/
Edit:
Okay after a little bit more investigation about your case it seems i found the way to edit the bootlogo gonna try it first and then tell if it works.
So this is how i did it.
First i downloaded MilestoneBootLogo.zip from this Post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16836960&postcount=1
I used one of the Logos given in that post but you can use any logo with the size of 480x182 px.
If you have a custom image it has to be in 24 bit BMP format. Open it with the MilestoneBootLogo Program and save it as bin File.
Now put the bin file on you sdcard.
After that install Splash Tools and AndExplorer via the Play Store.
Open Splash Tools and browse for the Bootlogo on your sdcard. Press ok then Apply et voila your ready to Reboot and the Bootlogo should be replaced.

Jep i know already posted the solution for the boot splashscreen it was just cause i stumbled above the animation while searching for it ^^

Found out how to change boot animations.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get my own custom MP4 Files to work, and I'm not entirely sure why as of yet. I'm sure if I had a day off of work I'd be able to figure it out sooner, but with having to rebuild an entire Image file every-time I want to re-try anything, It is time consuming. I apologize for this release not being exactly what we hoped for, but I'll get there eventually.
I've found a few boots posted online do work, and I've just got to find out why. I've found these boot animations to be functional, so whoever wants to try these is welcome to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-university/guide-set-video-bootanimationtesters-t2915445
STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1.)
Visit this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-university/guide-set-video-bootanimationtesters-t2915445 and download the boot animation file. (Honestly I'm unsure how necessary this file is, if at all. However using this file, I did find a few boot animations successful both with and without it.
2.)
Follow Ekkoria's tutorial on modifying IMG files until the IMG file is mounted and ready to be edited.
3.)
Replace the bootanimation file within the bin folder, with the file you downloaded. (If chosen to do so, I believe it is not necessary.)
4.)
Take your copy of your bootanimation.zip file and replace the bootanimation.zip file in the Media folder. (Make sure you make a backup of the original.)
5.)
Use Ekkoria's tutorial to learn how to close and recompile the IMG file.
6.)
Flash your phone with the Mofo tool, and your new IMG file.

Keeps everything together.
I've ran into some difficulties. I believe I know what the problem is. I'm trying to get this done and juggle some personal stuff as well. I believe it's just the particular codec I am trying to use with my custom video. Basically you follow the guide that @Ekkoria posted, and replace the .mp4 files with your own file. I've already successfully replaced them, and my phone has already booted with the new animation. However now I'm trying my own files I've created, and I'm not sure why, but it keeps skipping over my own boot animation. I'm guessing it's a wrong codec.

I watch the video and that boot animation is sweet. The audio went well with it.
Just flashed one of them called COLORFUL HEXAGON and damn does it look pretty. Although it doesn't go full screen since the ColorfulHEXAGON has a different color backsplash
