Apps to SDcard - Continuum General

I tried to partition my sdcard to allow apps to be installed to it but that was a total failure lol i had to get rid of the sdcard it was beyond repair lol. But my question is has a anyone got this to work

On another note though, were you the one who made that param.lfs for me a while ago? Lol I don't remember xP

Froyo does allow this, but will not recognize a partitioned card. It shouldn't be too long until we have Froyo.

Am I te only one still using rfs?

The only thing keeping me from flashing all these new roms is the ext4 requirement -_-
Why doesn't anyonebuild a rom with rfs? I can't wait for schizopunk to get EE updated to eb13. I think he's the only dev that still supports rfs. Luckily his roms are always stable
I wish I knew how to write/alter code

I'm still using RFS.
Running Daemon's dodex, Stock EB13 ROM. Installed Genocide kernel 0.3a to fix the camera issues. Custom boot and custom battery icon.
If you cared to know what I had anyway. Personally, I prefer the piecemeal method of putting my phone together instead of simply installing a new ROM. I wish we had a kitchen like joeykrim created for the Moment.

Also running RFS. I'm running stock except for the camera fix kernel. Tried Genocide but didn't like it. Syndicaterom looks interesting but it's not clear whether it will run on RFS.
EXT 4 is sooo much faster. it adds 400+ in quadrant on top of any rom you are using. thats if you are a numbers guy. but you will feel how much faster ext 4 does everything. the frozen rom is AMAZING 2400+ quadrant. the phone is done booting before the boot ani is done thats how much faster this phone is with those mods.

ext 4 is what is supported by google. thats why the devs felt the need to change it. also the cm3 is the gingerbread recovery. so which also tells you that the newer phones have that file system. also if you did mess uo something then you just odin and it only flashes the stock file system. in my previous comment when i was saying quadrant numbers i said thats if your a numbers guy. but you will feel in actual use of how much faster ext 4 is. there is a reason that only ext 4 is being supported by the devs. and ee really that guy is gay. this frozen rom is AMAZING none the less. read the rom thread you will see why.

Help me keep my Epic!

I've had my Epic for about a few days now and I'm starting to feel like I made the wrong choice. I chose mostly on the hardware, than the software. The battery drains like the phone has a hole in it, the TW UI is just bad and I can't use the regular launcher. I'm sure this phone would be better with pure android. So what should I do? ROMs, Kernals, etc. Thanks in advance!

There's definitely a nice selection of Kernels and ROM's available, take a look at the development section, read through some of the features of the different ones available, and see if you find one you'd like to try.
In the end, whether you keep the phone or return it for a Nexus, is all up to you... none of us can really answer this for you, because we all have different wants and needs in our phones.
And fwiw, software side of this phone can be easily modified/customized, so if you're happy with the hardware, then perhaps you should look into the software customization.

A good tip to remember...if you do go the custom ROM route, some have no journaling. If you choose one of those, make sure you power down phone completely and don't let battery die or you will get force closes out the arse. If this my be an issue for you, get a ROM with journal on or flash the journal on mod after flashing the ROM.

Probably a dumb question, but can I root and install a rom w/o going on a computer?

Syndicate Rom. It's absolutely awesome and very few bugs with almost all features working that I have noticed. Turns the Epic into the EPIC!!!!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Go with SyndicateROM Frozen. The 1.1 version needs updating ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091680 ) on the ClockworkMod. The 1.2 version ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131544 ) requires the latest ClockworkMod ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115999 ). You need to flash modem to EC05 with Odin.
What I did was flashing modem to EC05, put the first CWM on the phone, then installed SynROM Frozen 1.1. After that, I updated the CWM, then updated to 1.2. I think the 1.2 is not full package (?) and upgrade from the 1.1 (?). Rodderik will update the 1.2 version with latest CWM. You can either wait for that update or continue with the steps that I did toward the 1.2 version.
Edit - SynROM Frozen 1.1 comes with ClockworkMod included. When you get it installed, just update the ClockworkMod (what I did was using the flash method with Odin) then upgrade to 1.2 version.

You had it partially right. Hardware is paramount simply because you can replace the software with better software but you can't replace what drives it. Root your phone with the new purple CWM and then give the Syndicate rom a try. What kernel you choose for it depends on your phone since they each take to certain kernels differently. I am personally using the second to last version of the Genocide kernel and voltage control with great results.
Think of the rom as a car's body that you can choose to option and the kernel as its engine.
I prefer Go Launcher over Launcher Pro and Handcent over all the others available.
If you want incredible battery life download an app called DataSwitch by TomatoX.
Make sure to enable journaling too.

I thought the same thing when I first started using tw... If your taking about the launcher I won't argue. But the rest of tw is pretty good. Built in task manager that clears ram, the dialer is dope. Contacts list is very functional, U can swype right on a name to call our left to txt. Also easy to navigate if u have alot of contacts. Hold your finger on the right in portrait mode to jump through letters, than if, lets say you know alot of T's when u get to T, slide your finger to the left and you can sort by the second letter (feel free to say thanks). If your in to facebook the buddies now and whatever other things are built in to the tw launcher (though if u change launchers you lose those widgets) activities in contacts links your fb friends, the... Does... And u can... With... And so on and so on and so on... theres alot to learn that u wrong in a few days... I've had mine since release day and I just found out... Yesterday... long story short, u only get one chance to trade ur phone in. Use the whole 30 days before u decide
P.s. u can change your screen brightness by long pressing the notification bar and sliding left to right. But u gotta have auto brightness turned off (thanks ↓)

BML vs MTD. Too soon to change for daily driver?

I'm still on bml because its more reliable and every thing works the way it's supposed to. I tried the cm7 rom and I lasted about 2 days and quickly realized that it was very limited in flexibility and function.
Granted, it was very smooth. I know it's the future but its still very beta. Just read all the mtd threads, and you'll see how some basic things are buggy or not working.
I'm a little disappointed that some of the devs are abandoning all ei22 bml support. Especially since official gingerbread isn't even fully mature yet.
I am happy that at least TW will be supported in MTD, that's a major plus for me.
What are your thoughts?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I totally agree with you on this. I am trying to keep up on the MTD TW threads to see where the future is going but will remain probably on Legendary 2.1 with Shadowkernel for the immediate future because my phone is so freaking awesome right now!
As soon as Bbelos puts up 1.04 you guys should grab it! It will be phenomenal! All the speed you are used to and great voodoo color defaults (most will not need voodoo control app).
Well I happen to be the one that always says you'll come back. I have since moved to cm7 because earthbound put out the cm7 kernel I missed the first time I moved. I do have a few bugs I'm dealing with atm but nothing to hard to workaround. To be honest I don't see much improvment from mtd to bml or than the space and file system. As of now its just not too different however once the devs start to tear it apart and see how stuff works is when things will start to pick up. However they must be getting somewhere since there has been multiple updates on cm7 since to mtd move compared to bml.

Im running tortel1210's TWMTD rom and its amazing with Samurai3.3.1MTD and Ii really can see somewhat of a difference. On BML my phone was not able to run certain programs like chainfire correctly. Games like Trainz,SHADOWGUN, and GTA 3 would not play. After switching to MTD these games run smooth as ever and I have seen change in the behavior of many apps I have downloaded. MTD in my opinion will save the Epic from discontinuation of development on it. Mabye ports like working sense can finally be achieved from this new propietary system

Challenge accepted! Lol Cupcake on the Evo. Wonder how that would run being that the Evo specs are well above what's needed. I'm assuming, if someone is actually able to get it to boot cupcake, that it would run about as well as running Windows 95 on one of today's typical PC specs.

Challenge accepted! Lol Cupcake on the Evo. Wonder how that would run being that the Evo specs are well above what's needed. I'm assuming, if someone is actually able to get it to boot cupcake, that it would run about as well as running Windows 95 on one of today's typical PC specs.
In regards to the toolbox and apps. Would the flash 11.x work on GB as well? I thought flash stopped at 10.x for GB and 11.x was for 4.x.x (ICS and up).

I think it does run on GB. When I flash a rom I flash this group of app along with it. It shows up in my apps when I boot up but I am not sure of the last time I used any flash on my phone. I usually use my pc for the Internet.
Op has some more info. I will be working on it more over the next few days. This will have apps, tweaks, and tricks. The apps are one part of the toolbox that will start showing up in our roms. They will also be included in a flashable zip for those who are not using our roms. The second part of the toolbox will be exclusive to our roms. It consists of modifications to the installer script that will put a copy of your recovery log into a folder on your sdcard. It will also do a md5sum of the rom you are installing and put that in the folder also.
Remember this is a work in progress so don't expect it to be finished over night.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness
