htc legend freezing on startup on htc logo - Legend General

hi,
I have my phone rooted. and today i tried to root a new rom ([ROM][Alpha6][27.04.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1).
which is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987251
but when flashing was finished, my phone didn't start up and it stucked on htc logo...
when i go to recovery mode. a "!" appears on the phone, and after that the menu has the following items:
reboot system now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
i have tried Wipe data/factory reset, but still having the same problem.
and when i try to Apply sdcard:update.zip, an error comes up that :
E: signature verification failed Installation aborted.
some one help me please!!!
tnx!

I don't know how to make the ROM work, only how to replace it with a new one. So you need to replace it with a new one. You need to put the new ROM onto your SD Card. A good ROM could be Blay0's or CyanogenMod.
First of all, download a file called "R4 Legend Root" (you might need to Google this as I'm not allowed to post links) and extract it to "C:\R4-Legend-Root\"
Then connect your phone to your computer and boot into "Recovery Mode" where you should still have an exclamation mark on your screen.
If you use Windows (I hope you do because I only know the method for Windows ) Open up Command Prompt and then type in:
cd C:\R4-Legend-Root\
recovery-windows.bat
This should launch your phone into the Recovery area.
Look through the menu's and wipe your cache, Dalvik cache and files from your phone if needed.
Then go into the updater (something along the lines of this... It lets you install new ROM's...) and highlight the ROM from the SD Card.
Hope this helps,
Mafuzzer

Yes, i would try Blay0s ROM, the new Gingerbread ROM is only for experienced users.
If you get a question how to flash it, or how to overclock, only ask, and i will explain it you.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App

Just to know - whenever you get the exclamation mark trying to get to recovery mode just hold volume up an push power button . This will get you to the recovery . Chose " Apply sdcard : update.zip " from the menu and you are done
But you have to put a proper update.zip on the root of your card ( this you can do with your PC ) . My suggestion : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969076
EDIT
All this can be done even if you are on the go , no comp. needed ( just to search the update.zip (or any ROM) and to put it in your sdcard if you can't do it by mobile )

Hi guys. That's really good forum! I've found a lot of very useful info here. Maybe because of it have problems now
3tr, I've had exactly the same problem. The solution was found in the step1-windows.bat flashing. Even though the step2 couldn't have been done. But at least standard 2.1 O/S is running.
Afterwords there were problems with drivers - htcDIAG particulary. It was installed.
But it wasn't the end of my problems. Now SD card cannot be found in the device , HTC sync cannot see the phone as well. During the recovery mode, phone is not detected by recovery-windows.bat and there's a message in the Win 7 tray - "USB device is not recognised".
cd C:\R4-Legend-Root\
recovery-windows.bat
gives error: device not found.
Please, I'd really appreciate if somebody gave me any useful advise.
I need to make my phone to be able to see the SD card (currently it says, that the card was taken out)
Thanks!

Guys, please, help me with the problem ((( really stuck here

Sounds like an USB Brick, look here

something's wrong with the image file you're trying to install. From the looks of it, the files aren't signed, so the phone won't install it.
I'm assuming you're looking for the official 1.6 image and you have a regular g1, not a ADP1 so...
look around the forums here, someone reuploaded those files since htc pulled them down from their website.
Be aware that if you just install the official 1.6 image, the recovery menu is gonna be gone. Or at least it was for me when i did. You're gonna have to reinstall the recovery menu if you use just the official image, without any other roms like CM.
Do I need to install this Dream 1.6 image first or fix SPL since I can't get to bootloader? How can I flash Radio and SPL if I can't get to bootloader mode?

did you ever find a fix?? i'm having the same problem
Your Home key isn't stuck is it? If you only press Back while you're in recovery, does the phone reboot, or do you HAVE to press Home + Back? It's a longshot, but that would be an epic facepalm if I may say so myself.
Im pretty much having this same problem, i cant even get into shell via adb, I get a "exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2)" error. another error that i am getting is the E:Can't read MISC: (no space on device) in the recovery console, and i read that the MISC partition contains boot information. i would really like to find a solution to this as i have been looking for a few months now.

Just use this^
The downgrading part should restore you back to stock 1.0
My belief is that if you screw up restore to stock 1.0 and redo everything
If you gave us a bit more detail though we might find a easier method for you
Thanks, my friend got the phone with a broken screen and all it does its boot to the screen with the exclamation point on it.
Followed the guide in your link to downgrade the firware. We get stuck on the step to boot into bootloader. Holding camera and power just gets us to recovery (screen with exclamation) not into bootloader. After messing around a bit I found that if I hold "home" and "back" and then press power it SOMETIMES goes into bootloader. When I do get into bootloader nothing works to flash the .nbh file. By nothing works i mean no buttons work at all to flash or to cancel.

Same issue but a little more twisted
I tried flashing my G1 and it bricked(Soft Brick).
Somehow by luck I flashed the DREAIMG.nbh and have a stock phone now.
But the problem is I cant pass the Stratup screen because I get no network.
Unable to connect to the internet as well.
I tried the orange DREAIMG.nbh which bypasses the startup screen, even thought i come to the Home screen i get no network.
It gives an Error while trying to search for a Network.
When i try to flash any update.zip files it gives an error
E: No Signature
E: Verification Failed
Installation aborted.
When I enter the Recovery mode i get a error line saying " E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Any run around to this??? Is this by any chance a Hardware issue?
I doubt it, what recovery do you have? Also with the spl you know have just use fastboot flash for you roms, your error rate will be down to nothing

Its a Android System recovery utility, I cant get to the home screen also becuase i have no connectivity to get past the the Google sign in screen...
I tried the Fastboot but have no idea how to go with it!!
Need some help with it...
There are plenty of fastboot how tos amoung these threads here, otherwise go straight to the sdk website and there will be plenty of options, on my phone now so I can't walk you through it well. Pretty much download the sdk package to your comp and then make sure all the proper drivers are downloaded. Either change the variables in your device manager or open a cmd in the folder where fastbooot is located. You can also just change directories to get there. Put the files you need in the same folder as fastboot. Plug in your phone with it in hboot mode and you should see fastboot usb show up. The do fastboot -w then fastboot flash for whatever rom you need. Check the toutorials it will be more help

[Q] I wanted to install DextersGalaxyA500 but now my device is not responding

I have Acer Iconia Tab A500 running on Honeycomb 3.1. I needed to replace its software. So what I did was:
1) Rooted my device with that - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228
2) downloaded and installed AcerRecoveryInstaller - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.interphaze.AcerRecoveryInstaller
3) downloaded DextersGalaxyA500-p1 and DextersGalaxyA500-p1-avi-patch from http://dext3r.komodin.org/
4) Copyed them to my internal memory, the downloaded app which allowed me to copy to SDCard and copyed to SD card.
5) started AcerRecoveryInstaller and clicked boot into recovery.
6) selected install from SD card
7) selected DextersGalaxyA500-p1.zip
8) install started
9) intall ended and boots (samsung logo) wohooo happy!
10) what the hell is this? Some noise coming from speaker, apps are not responding, device ultra slow - unusable.
11) somehow manage to open AcerRecoveryInstaller click boot into recovery - BOOM! android logo with warning sign, waits about 5 mins then reboots to OS. Thats it.
+ also when I turn of the device, hold power button+sound til the text comes to the corner i get an android logo + warning sign icon, this time its bit different icon. Waits about 5 mins then reboots to OS.
What have I done wrong and how to fix it?
Did you wipe everything, like (dalvik)cache, before installing the new ROM?
Did you check the MD5 checksum on the downloaded ROM?
Can you get into recovery and try to install a different ROM?
Try putting a stock Acer update.zip in the root folder of your micro sd card and then use standard Acer upgrade procedures to get back to stock. (i.e hold the power and vol+ button while booting).
Should that not work, I'd try to do a complete factory reset / wipe using the rotation lock method described elsewhere in this forums. (sorry I cant recall the exact order of things well enough to quote them but a quick search will find them... ).

1) No
2) No. With what should I compare it (dext3r.komodin.org didn't give out MD5 hash codes)
3) Luckyly, I found out that I can (had to hold start+volume up little bit longer)
What should I do now? Select: "wipe data/factory reset" + "wipe cache partition" + and then install from SD card again?

Pretty much, yes.. You should always do this when installing a different ROM. It's often OK for new versions of the same ROM, but between different ROMs you must wipe your device or you risk problems.

You're right. When intalling a new ROM, the first boot is longer because the new one is building a new Dalvik cache and so on... depending of the release.
Be patient a bit more, then report ...

if you can get into your phone into hboot/recovery/fastboot then your phone is not a brick!
the problems with white htc screen is called a bootloop. like the user above suggested use a full wipe. easiest way is connect phone to PC and go into fastboot from your options when in the bootloader
type in fastboot erase system -w this will erase all system and userdata
then disconnect phone from PC when that is complete and navigate to your recovery option. select the recovery option and then mount back to USB cable and select USB toggle option so you can data transfer to SD card.
put new rom you wish to use or redownload one you wanted. then try again
It's actually a splash loop, a boot loop is the boot animation. But you get the idea

the only option i get when i get into fastboot from the phone is bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader and power down. if i chose any of the above then they all go back Hboot menu. cannot get into menu to type in fastboot erase sytem -w. can u advise me on where is the menu?. or i'm i doing something wrong..
thanks.

Can you describe what was happening?
Are you able to access the bootloader??
1. Pull out battery
2. Put in battery
3. Hold power + Volume Down buttons until inside bootloader UI
4. Use volume keys to navigate to the "Recovery" option then press the power key.
5. Once recovery has booted, use volume keys to navigate to the "Factory reset & wipe data" option, then press power key.
6. Reboot.
Results?

Got part with fastboot but where am I supposed to write -w? I'm not that good in this that is why I ask here for help. But thanx anyway. And I tried wipe everything using recovery and when I wipe system writes error all the time.
I also tried all the above method but to no avail. Then a friend of mine bought the dhd so i made a goldcard from his phone loaded a pd98img.zip and flashed.. my dhd is back in action... i think this is your only solution, find somebody with the same phone. If u cant let me no i'll send you a gold card.
If it could help me than upload it somewhere And tell me how to use it. I heard about it but not sure.
You can remove your sd card then you will be able to choose the recovery option instead of it constantly going to hboot. The hboot looks for a file and asks you to instal or not install and then tells you to power of. Remove you sd card and you wont get this option so you can go into recovery and reflash a rom (you can re insert your sd card once in recovery and chose the mount option)

Looping Boot (Advanced Hack Kit)

Hi all,
Ok, so after attempting to root my device with the "Advanced Hack Kit / Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259821), I managed to do something wrong in the process.
While rooting, I managed to drop my phone so I restarted itself. It went directly to the HTC logo. Now when powering up the phone it gets stuck at the logo and won't go any further.
What I have tried:
- Recovery (VOL.DOWN+POWER): Nothing really happens here, except that it directs me to an red exclamation mark with a triangle around it.
- Android System Recovery(3e): Tried all the choices available, none of them worked. However, in the menu I see an error message saying: E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command. When trying "Apply sdcard;updatezip" it just get's the same error message + "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted.
Other info:
- Phone: HTC Desire HD
- Rooting Tool: Advanced Hack Kit
- Radio: S-OFF (26.03.02.23M)

I'm really no expert, but it seems like I'm left without a ROM or ClockWork Recovery.
If anyone got some good tips on what I can do,please help me
Thanks in advance!
You have S-Off, it's good, that means, that AAHK have done the main part of job. You can continue it yourself. Put that in the root of sdcard, and reboot into bootloader (Volume Down + PWR). It will ask to update or not, agree with VOL Up. Then wait, it will install ClockWorkMod Recovery. When you have done, install any ROM you like.

[Q] HTC HD2 Full Reset Help!

Can someone please explain in full detail with steps on how to reset my HTC HD2 and my SD card in it. Also, could someone then explain how to perfectly install PixelDroid_AOKP (Or another really good one) onto my phone. I'm having trouble resetting my phone and sd card and then formatting it to the correct thing. Then after that, I have problems using the correct choices to install as there are so many different ones and I do not know what to choose. Anyone know the answer?
Reboot your phone and keep pushing volume down, when you are in 4 colors (bootlader) use Task29 to format your device from PC, Connect HD2 to pc let windows install drivers, then execute task29, when you reach 99% kepp pushing volume down to boot again in bootlader (4colors). After Task29 instal MAGLRD, when it is installed reboot your phone and whenyou see go, go, go appear keep pushing on/off botton to boot in MAGLRD, go to flahsable mode and install Recovery CMW or 4EXT, whatever, before that open flash.cfg file with note and set up the file like the developers asking on they roms, (Partition 200mb, Cahe 2mb exc) when you installed recovery put the rom zip file which you like to sd, format your sd from pc before, then boot in MAGLRD, when you are there boot in recovery and select flash from zip in installation, done, enjoy the rom. After installation reboot your phone 3 times. Flash in this way how many time you like and if you have problems do not ask me.
Hit 10 times thanks botton.
I forgot one of the most important part, before do all from my first post you have to install first HSPL and after that a Radio, I think v2.12.50.02_2 it's good enough.
Hit Thanx.
