[Q] Wifi-Mobile Network Connectivity - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever since the new leak of 2.3.3, the Wi-Fi connection randomly drops.
But I discovered it was because of Mobile Network on. If I turn Mobile Network off, the Wi-Fi connection is immensely stable. Is there a work around this? I would love my Mobile Network & Wi-Fi to be working at the same time.

I'm having the same problems. Thank OP.

Not only do I get this but my gps doesnt even come close to working like it won't even show that its on in the notification bar. Any one know a fix?

Wifi network connection issues

I'm still having wifi (not 3G) network connection issues and hoping someone can help.
I tried enabling wifi on the phone to stay active all the time (never sleep), enabled static setting and I always end up have to manually reconnect to the my wifi router. I've even tried some stay alive wifi apps and nothing seems to work. Nothing always me to stay connected and re-connect automatically to my wifi router. It's very frustrating.
I sometimes loose wifi when phone comes out of sleep or when I go out of range and then re-enter my wifi coverage area, it's won't automatically reconnect to wifi.
Any ideas/solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Don't know if the 'fixmywifi' app can help.. hope it can!

I'm trying an app called 'auto wifi re-enabler', seems to be working so far. What's with the X10 and this issue :/

He thx for the suggestion, but I'm not referring to the 3G network (such as it is!), but rather local wifi. BTW: I do have the 3G setting entered on my phone
Well still not within 100%. Man what's with this X10 and wifi.
I had a look for that fixmywifi app Mobzter recommended and can't find it.

Probably a stupid question, but when you go to:
Settings -> Wireless settings -> Wifi Settings -> Advanced (Menu button to access this) -> Wifi Sleep Policy
Does it still say "Never" like you want it to or has it reverted back to a different option?
I've tried never, and other setting, and as a matter of fact seems to work better in a sleep setting. Maybe it's my wireless router, but I believe this is a common issue with the X10.

I never had issues with wifi on my x10... until I did a hard reset on my router. I started to have problems connecting to my router. I figured out that if my router has WEP protection on, my x10 would have a hard time connecting. If I switch to WEP2, everything went fine. I dont see how switching from WEP to WEP2 solved my problem, but give it a try
If your still looking for Fix My Wifi it's Here along with other apps that you could try.
Interesting, I'm actually using WPA2, not WEP at all.
What router setting are others using?

Both WiFi and data icons in statusbar

Hey,
After update to Gingerbread (no root, stock HTC) both of icons remain in the statusbar: WiFi and data. And data shows traffic (white arrows). Haven't had this before so: is this normal?

Sorry dude. Never met anyone on stock....

Mine occasionally would do this on 1.72 but hasn't happened (yet) on 2.3.
A restart or turning mobile data off and on normally sorted it though. Never figured out why but it would usually happen when coming into range of a remembered WiFi link and mobile data simply wouldn't go away. Either that or when an MMS was involved whilst on WiFi, that invokes mobile data whilst WiFi is connected, if the APN's are set up right.
Hey there.
I have an Inspire, so I realize there are some differences between that and DHD, other than the fact that I was on stock Froyo before moving to Inspired Ace, but I am quite familiar with this behavior. The mobile data connection will show traffic when connected to WiFi when using Market or other apps that require location or cell data info, AFAIK. I spent several days trying to track this problem down then learned that the connection disables if you force stop Market. There are some other apps that cause this connection, but they were all user-installed.
Hope that helps!

No mobile data network when connected on 2g

Niall, here's one for you Samsung masters, updated to mango, via zoom. Used the force method by disconnecting WiFi. My problem is now I no longer can use my mobile data connection. On edge or 3g. Only hspda, which is a bit crap as most of the time I have a 3g connection. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks

Hmm.. There is a reg hack to show a 3G data toggle in Settings which you could do and then disable 3G data that way. It is in the Samsung Tools app I think.

Cheers for the help man, but disabling 3g connection won't help as 2g data connection doesn't work either. Phones just keeps sayinglost mobile data connection. Truly stumped on this one! Cheers again though

Are you connected to wifi have notice even with mine that when wifi is on it keeps trying to seek a wifi connection and would not go through the 3G even if it could not get the connection turned off wifi then it was working fine again, but was having some other issues so I went ahead and did what I stated in another post and got the update the regular and have had no problems.

ICS Wifi connection possible fix

I've seen this possible fix in another local forum's SGS2 thread. I tried and it seems to work fine so far. I had no problem with wifi connection at office but at home I could barely even stay connected to internet even though it shows connected to wifi. I couldn't even connect to wifi at home before and after doing this my connection is stable now. Please share your own experience after trying this.
Possible fix:
Open phone app and dial *#*#526#*#*
This will load wifi test drivers
Just leave with home button
Turn on wifi
and please let us know if this works for you too

[Q] to anyone with 3g nexus 7

i got my 3g nexus 7 a week ago and its been fantastic. thee is, however, a minor annoyance that im curious if anyone else has experienced
i usually cut the mobile data off when using it on wifi, and ive noticed after long periods of inactivity, the mobile data will turn itself back on.
is this a known issue? im running completely stock at this point.
Just put it on airplane mode than turn on WiFi.... That way you're sure that mobile connectivity is disabled.

I do the same thing. You'll see the WiFi icon and the airplane icon both on the status bar. Without airplane mode, the cellular modem will still be on and connected to the cellular network all the time. If you have WiFi available, you're wasting battery power on the unused cellular connection. Also if the WiFi turns off to conserve power, it may start using the cellular data. That is not good if you have a limited data plan.
I've posted a question before asking if anyone knew how to create a widget to toggle the cellular radio on and off and received no response.
I generally do use airplane mode when on WiFi, but it was one of those little quirks I noticed and was wondering if it was happening to anyone else
As for a toggle widget for the 3g, I use power toggles. It seems to work, but I've wondered I'd that is actually the culprit. I could get rid of it and see, but it's such a minor issue ATM
