Maybe a few days...

If you are talking about ideas for accessories I would love to see an extended battery that plugs into the docking port and piggybacks on the backside of the device. Even better if it had a build in SD card reader (or at the very least micro sd card storage), maybe a second usb slot thats recessed into the design so we don't have to worry about snapping off thumb drives that stick up in the air, and even cooler could be a plastic horn molded into the attachment to reflect sound from the rear emitting speakers towards your ears! Oh yeah, and it could have a rotating kickstand!

how about a real docking station? with USB ports normal hdmi connection, etc etc

I want a nice car dock that will allow a passenger to sit in the passenger seat.

You mean a dock like the one for Gtablet? USB,HDMI and LAN. That's a little difficult...At least the mold fee will not be cheap. But a cable integrated HDMI and USB2.0 is easy...

Something that will mount to the front of my dash rather than sit in the passenger seat. Kind of like what police cars have!

Finally an HDMI DOCK for Evo

Yes. You heard right and its made through sprint here's the link with the full details

EVO Sweetness!
I checked it out in store placed my device in dock wasn't to impressed
HDMI & USB connectors made me nervous seeing how there's very little back support on dock thus weight of device pulls on them.
$40, and doesn't work even Sprint's own extended batery or cases...
Yeah, I think I'll just make by own by using the kickstand, and a $10 cable from eBay.
Speaking of this... has anyone tried to pair the evo hdmi via an adaptor for the older DCI input on LCD tvs?
This is pointless without full hdmi

HDMI Cable
So, I bought an HDMI Cable a couple of days ago, when I plug it in to my TV it freezes my phone!!! so i need to do a battery Pull... is there a fix to this or is it the cable?
O wow, thats what I did, I saw it on Engadget this morning and ran to the Sprint store to get it.
I bought it, I like it, looks nice on my desk, nothing special though... I wish someone could mod my HTC CR G300 Dock to fit my EVO...thats one sexy dock
Edit: I also await that great day when someone gets us full HDMI support on the Evo
Wait, it holds the device veritcally?

Xoom Charger

Does anyone know what kind of charger the xoom uses? Is it the micro USB like the droids? I hope so. Thanks.

its not unfortunately. its more like a laptop charger but much much more thin.
No. Unfortunately, it's a proprietary charger with a huge freakin' wall wart.
Watch the XOOM Unboxing vid here to see it.
The video says the USB gives a trickle charge, but that's wrong. The user manual explicitly states NOT to try to charge via USB as it may damage the device. I wonder how many morons will try that and fry their XOOMs.
Confirmed.
keith_4g (Motorola Engineer):
"The USB port is not capable of doing any sort of charging. Any power drawn from a USB charger is leakage current and not necessarily good for the device."
Does anybody know if / where extra chargers can be purchased? I want one for work and home.

Stopping USB charge
How would one prevent a USB connection from attempting to charge the Xoom? Yell at the electrons to stop?
The port just doesn't support charging, just data. The batteries draw too much to charge over USB.

Like most barrel type connectors, it does "click" into place. I'm more worried about the connector breaking off in the receptacle; the male plug is only 1.5mm diameter.
Unfortunately charging through USB is likely to be uncommon with tablets given standard USB's 500 mA limitation. The iPad charges through the USB, but it does not charge when the device is on.
to answer the question about the charger and how it fits. Yes is does slip out of the charging port rather easily especially when using the portfolio case which for me is the biggest design flaw of the xoom. I overcome this by using the docking cradle and sitting the xoom in my lap. Works well for me.
I wonder how true is this? It claims to be a car charger with a micro USB tip.

charger is a disappointment, but not a deal breaker. Another device another cord, just when I thought micro USB was just getting some steam. But on the bright side no orientation issues. I suspect I will get the dock and the charger will not matter.

Its not gonna charge. That charger is designed for a phone. They're just bundling it together like they do for every device lol. Its pretty well documented the Xoom won't even trickle charge over USB.
it is a 12volt power supply. That is why it is so small not to be confused with the 5v mini USB. The Xoom needs 12 volts to charge
I'm sure that someone like iGo will come out with a tip for it. I have already e-mailed them about it. I have two tips for it for different devices that store on the cord so you don't loose them. The will be solutions for most of the issues if we are just a little patient.

Connecting a RCA cable?

I have a recording studio on my computer, and have just got a cable in which to connect from my Transformer's 3.5mm audio out to my computer's RCA input. It works fine connecting to my Galaxy S's headphone slot, can record perfectly, but the bigger screen on my Transformer is what I am after.
Can anyone help me at all? Thank you.
Um well... Whats the issue? 3.5mm -> rca adapter, plug 3.5mm end into the TF, plug red/white RCA into the PC, profit?
Hmm, think it might be the cable. I've read about issues with the Transformer audio port, but the cable just about works about halfway in.

Well I just tried for fun, using the same cable as you (3.5mm -> rca) to hook the TF up to my stereo. It worked as expected - flawless.
So its not that the TF isnt working with such a cable (which wouldnt make any sense anyway).
So yea, start with trying another cable. If that doesnt work, try a headset or something on the TF and check if that works.
I think the cable is a bit lose, every other cable works fine with my transformer. I might try claiming a refund, the left and right sides are labelled the wrong way round, but the quality is high once plugged in. But yes, another cable needed.

[Q] so what do we all reckon the pogo pins are for?

looking at some of the pics from the various brief reviews around the web, it seems this device has four pogo pins vs the SGN's three.
so what do we reckon they are for?
i would personally love to see a landscape dock with HDMI & USB host, just like the Advent Vega/ Viewpad 10S had. such a nice feature for a mobile office, also great for playing games on the big screen!
place your bets here the closest guess wins a Nexus 7
(no not really, but wouldnt that be cool?)
there are POGO pins for the dock

Same here. Epic sat nav... especially with the offline maps coming.
Betting keyboard like the lapdock
by me, for me and I love you
My money is on a desk dock similar to that released for the GNex, first, followed perhaps by a vehicle dock. I'm not seeing much chance for a keyboard dock; the 7" form factor is too narrow, I feel, and it doesn't mesh well with Google's apparent intention for this to be an almost exclusive consumption device.

being four pins... is it too much to ask for MHL? I can live with a BT keyboard but MHL is somewhat of a deal breaker for me.... especially as the $300 tennis ball isn't avaliable in the UK (and likely wont be for some time!)

MHL needs 3 pins (Differential pair + control) + power + ground So it can't be MHL.
I'd say it's more likely to be something simple like stereo audio+power+ground

Uhhhh... if mhl needs 3 pins and this has 4, how is that a problem again...?? Can they just NOT use one pin for mhl... and use the extra pin for some other accessory...??

MHL need 3 pins for _signal_ you would also need power and ground, for a minimum of 5 pins
Probably the same as the Nexus and just a lame $90 desk dock that only has a head phone jack.
My best hope is you will get an audio dock (with speakers) that should be great for watching movies. 4 pins is not enough for much else - and Asus has talked about an audio dock.
Audio dock is on the way for sure. Possibly no keyboard, though.

You are correct.
"Those hoping for a docking keyboard, as found on the company's Transformer range of tablets, should expect to be disappointed however. Asus has told Pocket-lint there were no plans for one telling and that the device needs to be 10-inches or more for it to work effectively."

hopefully its for an awesome, dual analog, 4 face button, 4 shoulder button, slim game controller dock that comes with an easy to us GUI touch map software and full tegra support. PS Vita watch out!
but in reality its for the stereo speaker dock, that will probably cost halve the amount the actual tab costs and sound like a deaf person singing...

Currently a work in progress but I have soldered a usb hub to the ouya and it works, I am building a custom case with acrylic plastic. I will post more progress as I go.

for anyone else who wants to give it a go these are the soldering points on the back. I am by no means a soldering pro. I was told because I am soldering on the bottom on the board the actual USB port should not be used because it can short circuit the board.. I am not 100% certain about this but for the time being I will stick to using the other 4.
current state. but all 4 ports are working.

Jealous!! I haven't tried it yet but I was hoping to use a standard USB splitter, will that not work?
This is basically just splitting the port like a hub. It uses the same leads as the existing. There should be some extra room on the case. Perhaps get a female USB and dremel a hole. Motherboards typically come with extra USB ports that have loose ends and have screw fasteners that attach to a slot vent or case opening. FYI in case someone is thinking about doing this.
I'd say you could just cut a whole and screw in a new port. Probably look halfway professional.
Do Hubs not work? I'm pretty good with a soldering iron, might give this a go just to have my HDD and a Wireless Air mouse connected.

Hubs do work. I am looking to build it all into one housing, I have a kickstarter edition Ouya so I am doing what i can to keep the original case intact. :silly: I have attached a micro sd USB adapter to the hub and it works aswell so i hope to cram that into the case.
That's pretty awesome!! Looking to see the final case setup
