Factory Reset 3.1 update - Xoom General

Been trying for the past 3 days with no luck and just did a factory reset today 5/13 and about 5 mins after setup got the update. Can't be sure it was the factor reset but it worked for me.

I'd put dollars to donuts they are purely coincidental.
/edit
Ok, just to clarify -- I'm seeing a lot of desperate people on this board wanting the update. Phased rollouts are just that -- phased rollouts.
There is no chance of "missing your place in the update line".
All Xooms with internet connectivity will be updated.
So folks, don't reset your device -- all it will result in is having to reconfigure it.

If I were home from work already I would give it a shot myself to try and help confirm if that works or if it was just the coincidence of a life time. Anyone else still waiting for the update that could give this a go?

i havent gotten it either. in NY. im not gonna try any methods. When it comes, it comes.

That's what she said.

very tempted to try this but would hate having to reconfigure my screens and download all my app and game data again, hopefully it'll pop up tonight

I'm almost positive this won't work.
Here's why:
Doing a factory reset in no way comminicates with Google's servers and forces your Xoom on the current update list.
But this is just my educated guess.

Worked for me. Was setting up xoom with gmail account and said update available.

I wonder how many people have wiped their zooms in the last 45 minutes..
Anyone else have luck with this?

Been tempted to try this but I don't want to have to reload all my apps

I have a XOOM that was restored to stock from Tiamat 1.4.1. If this worked, I would have gotten the update right after it was restored, because restoring to stock is essentially a factory reset.
However just to be sure I did a second factory reset 5 minutes ago and it did not work. No update unfortunately.

also tested this, was fully stock never rooted, just factory reset and no update for me either
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App

Nope Didn't work for me either. Ohio

Didn't work here either. I did this yesterday when I cleaned up my xoom. Only updated to 3.0.1 -- Ohio as well.

I've heard that, if you sacrifice an iPad 2, at the stroke of midnight, on a full moon, while chanting the word Android backwards, you will get the update!

I don't know the reasons behind that, but it's worked for me, fantastic! Thank you.

Market Issues

I'm having a serious issue with the market and I have not been able to find any solutions. No matter what I do, applications will not download. I've wiped cache, dalvik cache, even a factory reset or three and nothing. So I odined back to stock di18 and it still won't download anything. Anyone have any ideas?
Lol - we made threads within a minute.
I've got issues too downloading.

I tried wifi and still a no-go.
Same problem here. Tried downloading an update, and says "Download Unsuccessful" in the notification bar.
I have 2 friends that have the epic 4g and are having the same issue! I rooted the phone for them using the one click root 2.4 and upgrade both to froyo 4.2 beta! I cant say if they had this issue before or not, but they definitly have it now.
Problem: open market try to download any app, it will say that it will download shortly and show briefly in the notification window but then just goes away and never downloads.
I have try connected and disconnected from wifi. Problem still exsist.

Haha I was concerned it was something I did so I explored all my options! But I've got backups for a reason . Anyway as was said in the other post it's working now so no issues anymore! haha

just being curious

i dont think that the EB13 update that was posted by samsung on the website is the real thing....to be honest i think that is just another test release from the looks of it because they are pushing an update out via OTA that you have to wait for......i mean i messing with the one that samsung posted up and all of the things that it was suppose to fix is not fixed.......im going to wait for the OTA
I think it's already been confirmed in the OTA status thread that it's the same thing from Samsung's website...
EDIT: I guess it has not been confirmed yet. Anybody with an OTA update care to confirm or deny?
Suite yourself, killer, but you're the only person I've seen who's expressed that opinion ever since Samsung got the correct EB13 files up. Yes, at first they had some EB01 files listed, as well as had some misnamed as KB13, but for ~15 hours now they've had EB13 posted, and many people on XDA, including experienced developers, have downloaded, flashed, and started digging into EB13. I feel pretty sure it's the real deal.
I think that the majority of people's issues are coming from bad upgrades/flashes, and they need to A) clear cache (including Dalvik if they're using CWM) and B) if the issues persist they should do a clean wipe/flash.

Clearing the cache is stuff you do when you don't have the official stuff....you shouldn't have to go through all that trouble if it was the official release.....idk.....im going to wait for the OTA and see if there is any difference.....just to be sure

just get it off Samsung's site. it works perfect took 2 minutes to install and have no issues whatsoever
Have anyone even gotten the update via OTA
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
im waiting for the OTA , and not received it yet. im a very patient person
If it's not official, then GalaxySSupport shouldn't be tweeting that it is.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Its the official. The ota is pushed from sprint. Thats the only difference. We may receive small patches and things for other bugs but this is the official froyo for our phones.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I got the ota and I'm having issues no camera,no pics in gallery but they are still on my sd card, no music player I got a player from the market and it works so my music is on my sd card. The music icon is pink also not sure if it is supose to be.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
i know the Syndicate development team is waiting for the OTA version before they dig in and do their thing. it might just be a precaution, i really don't know myself. i'm waiting on the OTA so i can send it to them, but if anyone has it, they could do that first. of course once you install it i think it might be too late.
It has been confirmed in multiple threads, there is just 200 pages to sort through since it's release. The files are the EXACT same.

Yea there appears to be an issue with eb14 reading media files. Apparently formatting you memory card then reloading your files resolves that.

No, clearing cache is stuff you do when you want to eliminate the possibility of a preexisting mess screwing up your experience. The only time an OS upgrade will work 100% perfectly and smoothly is by doing a wipe and clean install. If you just flash overtop of what you already have, expect complications.
This is true of all OSes. A clean Ubuntu install will always be more worryproof than upgrading from, say, 9.10 to 10.10. A clean Windows 7 SP1 install will always be smoother than installing SP1 on top of an existing Windows 7 gold install.
At any rates, wipes and clean installs shouldn't be scary or 'unnecessary' to regulars on this forum. It was a whole terrifying 10 minutes of work to resync my phone and get my apps downloading.

No worries here. Root, then use Titanium Backup to save your apps and data. Flash, crash or trash your phone, but just reroot and use Titanium to restore it. And you get your Birds data back.

Also same problem here
Downgrade it then and quit your complaining
I mean't problem with that there is no avalibale update showing...
Same problem here! This afternoon I checked and there was the OTA but I gave it up because I was under 3G, so I didn't update it! When I came back home I've checked for the OTA many times under 3G and under WIFI too but it has been telling me "There are no updates available for your phone"!
Any suggestion??
When you decline it it often takes a few days to show update again even when manually checking. Had this with the Hero too.
The old trick used to be to set your date 1 month ahead (turn off set by network) then restart phone.

You've missed your chance, HTC have added your handset to a "Ban List" you won't get the update now. All you can for now is dream about Gingerbread.
Seriously, you'll get the option to upgrade soon enough, give it a day or so.
Thx man! I hope you're right! This morning yet!

As long as the website said there is newer firmware, sooner or later you will get the update, except they pull it off because flaws. (if I remember correctly there is one which is pulled off because of flaws)
Got OTA another one time some hours ago... This time I downloaded and installed it! All has been working well!

[Q] Problem Updating to Froyo (EC09) through System Updates

I think most users have by now heard that Android released the Froyo 2.2.2 update for the Continuum, I myself am super excited for this update. However, I updated this morning the first update (EB01) and then I kept trying to update to the second one which is the actual froyo (EB09) and the phone won't do anything! I clicked 'check new' under system updates and it says 'Connecting...' and then it says 'Check for System Updates under Settings > About Phone when service is available' and exits. I've had service all day, almost all my bars, (I've tried this like 50 times), and tried on wifi even and it keeps saying the same thing ! Is anyone else getting this problem? Does anyone know anything I can try? I've tried soft and hard resets, and removing the battery.
All help's greatly appreciated!

Restore your phone to DL17 via Odin. There are numerous threads around these forums to assist you in doing this. The process is very easy. I'm sure the guys who frequent IRC wouldn't mind helping you either.

I just got mine updated to .24 as well. I checked the official ASUS development thread and it was reported to be a few days out, but I guess Google approved it, didn't enforce the quality check, or ASUS just went ahead and released it. Anyway, let's see how much of this firmware is a fix to the reboot problem.
One should do a cold boot after updating. See asus Facebook thread.
Got mine right now. And I was just about to root this thing. Hope it helps out.

I downloaded the .24 firmware and went to install and got halfway thru and got droid on his back with the yellow triangle.Rebooted and when i unlocked a window popped up and said DM CLIENT has stopped.I went to settings apps ,manage apps pressed all to show all apps went to DM CLIENT cleared data then forced close and rebooted. After reboot went to settings about tablet check updates and got the .24 firmware update and pressed to install and the update went in smooth as silk.Just posting this incase anyone has this problem. Mine might have come from that i waas rooted on .17 and went back to stock for .21 because ota rootkeeper didn't work and when i cleared that and installed stock .17 and updated to stock .21 ....so hope this helps someone
Hmm..of all the things people are experiencing, Gmail crashing is the one thing not happening to me at all (on any release).
I just got .24 update and surprised , now we have faceunlock thing , It works great , not perfect , I don't see any difference here but I hope they also fix rr and sod which makes me sick

Gmail has always been fine for me too. The only real issue I have had is the RR's and only in deep sleep. Until the last patch (.21), they were always clean. Since then any RR I have gotten has resulted in a boot loop or frozen at the Asus logo. If I run WakeLock, no RR's at all. So heres hoping .24 will fix the one issue. I will add .24 did not break my root either.....applied the patch, restored root, did a cold reboot, turned off WakeLock and all is well....so far.

Well, I was starting to look for methods because I'm sick of the reboots. I was on XDA looking for a method when all of a sudden, I saw the update. Will still look for a method since this update wasn't 4.0.4.
Oh and the gmail app has never crashed for me.

I have had Gmail crash, but its really intermittent and tends to come and go in ways I cannot explain. Sometimes any email I open will make the app freeze, but most of the time it works fine. So far, no Gmail crashes on .24 for me.... yet.

It's a hardware revision problem. Some people experience force closes in applications like GMail due to (I suspect) a memleak in the GPU driver. Lots are effected by it but don't notice it unless they do a lotta stuff in gmail. Others have no issue.

Hi guys, does this update fix the problem where you can't wake the TF101 with the keyboard dock's keypress (with the power saving feature disabled)? Since ICS was released up till the last update, this feature has been broken and it was working very well in HC but broken since ICS was out for the TF101 - is it working now (or has it been working before for anyone in ICS for TF101)?
