Very bad wireless with Arc - Xperia Arc General

All wireless are bad.
I often lose my wifi connection in my home. And often I even need to restart wifi.
The Bluetooth connection is bad with my car. I need to find the good position to have correct sound on the speakers.
My gprs data connection is often bad. And even if I have good phone connection.
I compare with my old HTC hd
I am really hesitating to send it back to my operator.

I dont have any of these problems, its batter to get it back and take another one since its still under warranty.

Does anyone else have issues with low wireless signal and constant dropping wireless connections?
I have a friend here are work in the same area, he has an Iphone 4 and has no issues.
LT15a arc

To be honest I never had such issues.

no problem here either - only issue I've got is Green Power free doesn't always open up the wireless connections properly when I unlock the phone and I have to stop GPF to make it work.. but the phone itself is as good as my x10 was and better then my wifes HTC legend..

Yeah my wifi is rubbish. Disconnects each time i try to download something that is a little "big" from the marked or read web pages. It's annoying as hell but it seems like the next update from SE will have a new baseband. Hoping that will fix it else it's going back!

Yeah, hopefully the next update does fix this issue. It is more stable on my home network, but still drops out occasionally.

Yes, I just this Rogers phone today. I have the same problem or even worse. as soon as I open something that's a little big from any online apps or webpage, it disconnects wifi. but it still shows wifi connection on the top. Worse thing is, it seems to crash my router as well then disconnect my whole home network. I have been using my router for more than two years and it never had any problems. (I game and p2p a lot on my ps3 and pc). I have iphone4 wireless hooked up with my router as well and it works flawelessly when open up the same webpage which causes wifi disconnect on my arc.
I am thinking about returning this phone and get nexus s if they can't get it fixed soon....

I used to have problems with the WIFI untill I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it, now its perfect. But it depends if you decide to take the risk or not.

i had no problem with home wi-fi but come to broardband data simcard its terrible slow, assume telco matter but put that sim to OS6 device its run ok

The speed and connection of my arc is quite well.
The only problem of my arc is the time it takes until connection is established.
When i release the screenlock it sometimes takes up to 30 seconds until the WiFi symbol appears and the connection is established

download from market app wi-fi keep alive, it will solve your problems for sure, i had this issue too

wifi weaker than x1 (and to think that x1 wifi were pathetic), data on gprs/3g a lot better but it's Android thingy. most errors come from carrier in my experience.

[Q] Verizon 3G vs. WiFi (problem)

On my Xoom, Verizon 3G kicks WiFi butt. This shouldn't be.
I thought maybe it's the WiFi network(s) I have been connecting to, but I have sampled a variety of networks including my home network with a very strong signal.
Quite a few 'time outs'. Symptom really seems to be if the connect is idle for any length of time, it disconnects. I quite regularly have to do something ''twice', including in 3 different browsers, to push through to a new connection.
Any similar from other users, possible diagnosis's or solutions?
Thanks in Advance.
I think there might be issues with some access points and different tablets. I've heard of similar things with laptops and ipads as well.
The general consensus here however is that the xoom has the fastest wifi out of any tablet device. I don't have the link but I believe one of the review sites tested this.

Thanks for the reply. Further reseach shows its apparently a known issue and is being looked at, for example:

And likely root cause:

A temporary partial work around is to change the WiFi disconnect policy to the "When screen turns off" setting. you will get a delay of about 5 seconds when first connecting to the internet after unlock, but apparently the memory leak is cleared when you reconnect this way. Continual long term browsing will eventually choke up.
No can't say as I have had any wireless issues, other than not being able to tether to my phone, but that's the phone's problem, not my Xoom, stupid Samsung.

I have had the browser FC on me after long wifi browsing. So this bug may have leaked out without getting fixed. i have tried the 3g that much but i will tonight and see what happens.

Yes, that is one of the symptoms of the memory leak. We should see a fix eventually.

Love the eventuall lol. Yeah its not that big of a deal. Its worth it to be a first 3.0 user.
I've definitely experienced this as well. Wi-Fi disconnects and won't reconnect unless I reboot or manually turn off/on. Question, if I use the temp fix to change the Wi-Fi disconnect policy, doesn't that mean my 3G will be used and therefore my allotment of 1Gb / month will be eaten when not using the device due to background sync? Is there a way to turn off 3G as well?

Just turn 3g off... which is what I do, I will only have it on for road trips, ect.
Plus it will only use 3g if WiFi is not available.
Same issue
I had the same issue on my Xoom. Everything after long video streaming, the problem started and the video start to lag and eventually freezed.
If i try the turn off the wifi, it wil stuck at "turning off.........." forever untill i reboot it.

WiFi Issue

Just got my Arc today. Connect up via wifi to various diff sources, same issue. After approx 2 mins, signal bars for wifi remain static, never move and connection issues occur. This happens on anything from market, web, gmail etc.
Repeatable on various diff routers, only way to recover is turn off wifi and reactivate it, then it will last another 2 mins.
Checked and running latest firmware. Faulty device?
Maybe, my wifi works fine.
Yeah starting to think that. Both my galaxy s, and iphone 4 stay connected all the time at decent rates. Watching the router stats the mac for the ARC just drops down to 1, then dies. Also noticing bad range, like anything more than 3m away from router and no signal.
Hi there. yes i have the same problem with my arc.... but not allways, yesterday when i was on market, downloading its stops at 40% and thats it, i must turn off wifi and turn back on, that will help..but after few minutes (downloading, browsing, facebook) it again stops, and again the same. But its not allways after 2 mins... one time is working fine without problems even one day is ok ,and sometimes is doing this. yesterday i get a error from arc something like that " error parsing packets" . And what i have noticed on 3G is doing the same, i tried to download yesterday the same file with 3G conection and it stops again. So i think this is not only wifi problem...i dont know.any clues?sugestions? sorry for my english xd
im at work atm.
The WiFi is pretty well known already, it happens also to me and quite a few other owners of the Arc. From my experience it is related to Youtube application or video playing/flash pages because most often it occurs when using them.
Sometimes I would be able to use the WiFi connection for more than a day without issue, while other times it stops working twice in 5 minutes. Pretty weird behavior, but I'm guessing it is a combination of a software issue and the newer support for draft n wireless connection.
Joy, its kind of a deal breaker for me
No WIFI issue whatsoever with my ARC
Software issue.

Poor wifi reception and signal drop

Hi every one
My ideos was working fine but for some time i am getting wifi issue
Before i was getting good wifi reception and no signal bar up or down
But now its very bad wifi signal

I have the Ideos X5 too. The wifi drops out or at least the signal becomes worse when i cover the top side of my phone (for example when i'm typing and i want bigger letters) It is also not very good at finding wifi connections. My laptop always finds internet upstairs (3rd floor) but the phone does not... it drops out from time to time and does not recover. When i open the door and walk to the stairs (not even going down) it finds it again an the problem is solved, but still it's irritating, especially because searching for wifi eats my battery...
don't know how to solve it though... Doubt you can solve it.
What rom are you guys running?
B135 for me
I have to say though, if i'm on the second floor (modem is on the first floor) i don't have any problems. Although of cours the signal becomes less when i cover the top side, but i'll still have a connection. So it's more of a distance problem for me.
I m running oxygen r3 with franco latest
But it happens with every rom i tested

Possible Solution to WiFi Issues
Erratic wifi reliability, frequent drop outs and wifi spontaneously disabling itself (usually in the middle of app downloads) has been a "feature" of my X5 ever since I've owned it, about six months now. Rooted or unrooted makes no difference. I always use my home wifi and no other device I own has any issues with it - Dell and Apple laptops (running a mix of Mac OS X, Win 7, Ubuntu Linux and Win XP) and an iMac desktop, plus an iPad and iPod touch, they're all rock solid with my router.
Then the other day I was at my sister's place and attempted to connect to her wifi router. I got a message that I'd not seen before when connecting my X5 at home - it complained that the SSID was hidden and that "Android is unreliable" (or words to that effect) with hidden SSIDs, it recommended using an exposed SSID for the router instead with a "secure" password. I'm not sure if this was an Android message or from WFi Manager which I use, but it sure came as a surprise to me. Of course my SSID at home is hidden too.
I've changed my SSID at home to exposed and so far things seem better, a couple of app downloads and no wifi dropouts so far. I can't be sure yet but this may be the solution to my months of wifi frustration!
Of course why Android can't reliably handle a basic security feature of a long-established tech like wifi is another matter...
Hidden ssid isnt a security fearure... the ssid is still broadcasted with every data package, so one only have to wait for one of your devices to connect (also there more ways but not that easy)
Have a bit the same problem. Most of the time all is working fine.
Sometimes when the phone is locked and unlocked Wifi is not working.
Policiy for Wifi Sleep is allways on.
Sometime Wifi icon disapears wil working with it.
When is stop WiFi and start it all is fine.
My HTC Desire is working fine so it's a problem with the phone.
use with Android Stock not yet flash a mod.

A500 Disconnects from Hotspot connection every 12 mins

Hi, I'm having this problem with internet connection using the portable Wi-Fi hotspot on my Galaxy Nexus. My A500 connects without a hitch to the Nexus but after 12 mins (this happens after each connection),it disconnects then waits for about 20secs before establishing connection again. This can be annoying especially when streaming videos on the A500 which tends to result in starting the videos all over again ie after each disconnection.
What can i do to resolve this issue?
I'm on Stock Honeycomb 3.2.1 and not rooted. Thanks

are you sure it's not from the nexus the problem ?
I connect my tablet to my liquid metal I got disconnected only when the 3G goes down... but never the wifi.
check maybe setting wifi policy etc... maybe.
check your phone as well.
try another device I mean tablet to another device, another device to nexus...

The hotspot connection on GNexus seem to be active each time the internet connection on the A500 goes down. I've checked the wifi sleep policy on both devices. They are both set to "never (when on battery)". May be software on GNexus need to be updated in order for this issue to be resolved. I used to have an HTC Desire as a mobile hotspot device which worked though once A500 is inactive, the connection on the HTC ends.

im not sure exactly what one would be your best bet.. But on the phone. try d/loading a wifi/3g data usage and analyzer app. Something that can watch the data services and give a report on what is happening.
SORRY I cant give you a app name to try but i have not had any wifi/3g issues so not used one..
Good luck..
I have similar problem on my a500 . When I connect to my AP I usually get 4/5 bars but after some time without moving anywhere my signal drops slowly to 0 bars, tablet disconnects and reconnect after 1 sec with 4 bars. And so on... No idea how to fix that bug.

That problem you speak about was an old HC bug...
the wifi drop
I got it, but on the version 3.2 that was resolved, and ACER released a kind of... patch about this year ago.
- Wifi work then when connect drop down to 0 and disconnect then try to reconnect... that was a problem from a file supplicant things. needed to be deleted.
nasimdejai
I bet it's your phone software got a problem something like that. did you try to connect the tablet to another wifi and see how long stay connected...
my tablet is connected on a hotpot 24/7 nearly and got rarely disconnected.

The problem is,the connection on the phone is stable and everything that requires internet access on the GNexus seem to gain access to it. Also, when the tablet is connected to my home Wi-Fi, it never disconnects or drop signals. So, it seems the issue is between the A500 and the GNexus. Probably a software bug btw the hotspot on GNexus and the connection to A500 or the connections btw the two devices are incompatible due to one being on honeycomb and the other on ICS. Just my opinion anyway

Sounds like a nexus issue or setting.
I conenct to 3g/4g stable without any disconnects at all (GIngerbread debloated) on Droid CHarge via unlimited verizon LTE.
able to play onlive gaming flawless.

You might be right about the GNEXUS cos when I was using an HTC Desire as a hotspot, there weren't any issues with connections. Probably, the next ics update for the GNEXUS might resolve the issue. Its a shame that I've already sold the HTC Desire.

Got simlar problem:
i use GNex hotspot to connect a tablet to internet (it's the tablet part of the Erisin EA779A car stereo) and after few minutes the tab gets disconnected.
i've tried to connect it to my old Nexus S usinf hotspot wifi and the connection seems to be stable
Both Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S have cyano9 nightly
I was wondering if the issue is just caused by a switch from 2,4ghz signal to 5ghz...
i have to try with another device connected to the phone to see if it drops

WiFi connection drops, have to reboot - Virgin hotspot

My Nexus 7 had no problem with wifi connections since I bought in right after they were first released. Last week, I bought a Virgin Broadband Mobile Hotspot to use while doing some traveling. (In some areas, it works a lot better than I expected.) The problem is that fairly frequently, the connection drops and I can't reconnect. When reselecting the device (or any other network) in the list of available wifi networks, I get an error message that reads "failed to connect to network." My only recourse is to reboot. A fast reboot is good enough, but I've done plenty of those and complete reboots.
Then, I can reconnect. That new connection may last ten minutes or many hours. But at some point, the connection will drop and I'll have to reboot to get another one.
I figured this must be related to the Virgin hardware, but when I got home yesterday, I discovered that this happened again with my router. In the 5 months I've had the Nexus 7, I've never had a problem connecting to my home router. So I "forgot" my remembered wifi networks and reestablished them. There are only two, my home router and the Virgin device. Didn't help. Right now, I don't have the Virgin device turned on, so maybe this will temporarily solve the problem. I'm not sure, yet.
One thing that seemed to help was that when driving and using the Google Navigation app, this seemed to be less of an issue. It's even possible that we never dropped a connection while navigation was active. When nav is active, the device doesn't sleep. So there may be some relation there. But plenty of connections were dropped while nav was off and the device was awake. In fact, most drops occur when I'm stationary, i.e., not in a moving car or walking around.
Another piece of info — our other Nexus 7, which also came along on the trip, doesn't seem to have this problem, but it didn't get used that much, so it may be that it would be there, we just didn't have the opportunity to see it happen.
Anyone seen anything like this and/or have any ideas about what to do about it? Why would I need to reboot to renew a connection?
I had a similar issue,it would see connections not connect automaticly and when trying to manually connect it would disappear.I shut off the autoscan for networks off and it works much better.
Hope this helps

Thanks. I'll play with that and see what happens.
The nexus 7 that I purchased for my wife last week is experiencing the similar issue. I can see many network in range but any connect I try to connect will return a message "failed to connect to network".
I found some submitted issues on the Android project thread, but none of them offered any solution.

I'll try this at some other places to make sure the problem persists and will probably return it.
