[Q] Cyanogenmod 7 Swiftdroid - No 3G connection - GT540 Optimus General

Hello everybody.
I have installed Swiftdroid 2.0 M4 on my GT540, everything works well excepted the 3G connection.
I tried to add my APN manually but it does not work. My provider is ORANGE France.
Does somebody have a solution ?
(Sorry for my bad english)
Mat11

try extracting the apn settings from joe's rom and adb push it into M4 then goto the apn and reset the settings that might work because i have no problems with 3g

Thanks for your quick answer.
Can you explain me how to extract apn settings from Joe's ROM. I need to install it ?

Sorry but in fact there is no problem.
When I was in 2.1 ROM I used to have a 3G icon in the status bar, but now there is a "H", so I have a 3G connection isn't it ?

if i haue time to night ill make a update.zip for you. And i think H icon is better than 3g
Sent from my GT540 using XDA Premium App

yes H - HSPA is faster mode

I would welcome such an update. About two days before I left the US for Belfast, the 3G icon disappeared. Now all I see in Belfast is an "R" above the 3-4 bars, which I assume is "roaming?" I had an AT&T SIM while in the US, and a Vodafone one in now - no change. I was using Mur4ik's M4 ROM, then reflashed through Fastboot to Joe Stone's 2.3.2 clean gingerbread. No difference noted. Suggestions?

Welcome to Belfast mate even though its raining as usual i will make the update.zip tomorrow for you

Automatic APN Setup
Hi ..
Have you try "Joestone's tools for Automatic APN Setup"
I've been using the tools for 2.1 and 2.3.4 ROM and it works fine, never have any problem.
APN Set

Thanks! That did the trick!

3G network

First, as you can assume, i have the HTC Hero...since i was not satisfied with the 1.5 version ( android ) i updated it to 2.1 ( Eclair version )..now the problem is that when i add the APN settings, it starts the 3G network and i don't have any option to "close" it...on the 1.5 version i had a the Wifi, Bluetooth and i think Data connection, but now only the Wifi, Bluetooth... so in a summary, i can open and close the wifi and bluetooth but i can't regulate the 3G network, when i set it, it starts and there is no way to turn it off...
So does anyone has an idea how to solve this?
Thanks in advance
How about when you hold the power button, do you get the "Mobile Network" option to select there?

No, just the silent option, airplane, reboot or turn off...
The irony is that when i turn Wifi on, the 3G also turns on...but when i close the wifi the 3G still works...
It seems i have the Nexus One software on my Hero, i received a mail from google, welcome to the world of Nexus one... OMG...

Maybe ask in that thread.
Or flash a diff ROM and see if you still have the same issue.

Im using MCR3.2. (Link in my signature). Fast and stable,... No issues whatsoever. But it is still only an Android 1.5 ROM. I'm planning on adding the 768mhz overclock kernal to it tonight, hopefully will fly like a Legend then.
Ooops,... Sorry
You not the only one with this puzzling problem wkulen! Same rom as you, and it seems I can't close 3g even with that APNdroid is set to be off! It looks like it still using data from 3g - hope not otherwise it could be a costly mistake!
i've got the opposite problem...
ROM: current official...
My 3g or data internet connection sometimes doesn't turn on when I switch off the wifi. But it happens most of the time, but not all the time. What I normally do everytime is to go to Settings/Wireless controls/Mobile network settings/Network operators - and I "select automatically". Then my network data kicks back in. It's a hassle but I don't know what else to do.

Mytouch 4g HSPA+ Not working anymore?

So I've been running CM7 for a while now and I have lost my 4g connection..pretty much permanently. I've tried reflashing cm7 after a FULL WIPE through Clockwork Recov but to no avail. Please help me!

let's start with what makes you think you "lost your 4g connection"?
I feel like i am having the same problem, when i first flashed CM7 i would get the occasional H signal but for the past week or so i have only seen the 3g signal. There was a brief moment where i noticed the H for a few minutes. Does this mean anything?
I'm running the royalthunder rom and I've noticed the same thing. I don't really see the h that much anymore. I live in phoenix.

Slower internet, and a lot more time using EDGE and 3G
Check your preferred network settings.
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone info
Scroll down to prefer network
I have better luck with GSM auto (PRL)
[via XDA app]
I have noticed the same thing. I made a backup of my original rom and settings, then flashed to cm7 just to check it out. I wasnt satisfied with it, so I switched back to my backup rom. I have noticed that my data latency and speed has been far worse than when I was unrooted and on the stock rom. Will changing the preffered network help this? Any idea what I inadvertantly modified while switching between roms? I thought the nandroid backup backed EVERYTHING up???

Although I'm still on 3g this has improved my speed noticeably. Now it feels like its more just a visual thing and not actually a network problem.

[Q] HSDPA issues on Android

hello everyone!
i'm having issues in the 3G HSDPA network conection...
i mean slow internet conectivity and dissconection...
i have talked to my Cell Operator the say that thier network is fine at my area and i think they are right cause i get full signal and the HSDPA uplink icon
but while using the conection i'm having these issues.
my question is:
can it be ROM/Kernal related? i'm using HyperDroid CM7 2.1.0 r10
if so what can i do?
will the internet will be more stabe on WM6.5?
cause idc what OS i'm using i know how to use them all and all of them are quite comftable to me the reason i use Android is for Whatsapp only since it's not available to WM6.5/WP7...
thanks in advance,

just to inform you that, they said that to me. the signal is good in my house, even looked up online 3g coverage for my area and says excellent, but i only get mobile internet in my house, but when am out and about or even at work i get constant HSDPA (Starts from when i take 2 steps away from front door), which it doesn't bother me considering i use wifi at home, so that might be the same issue your having, IGNORE what your operator says all they can really do is give you apn settings and hope for the best then it goes down the your handset, the only thing that can really stop you also is the radio you have and going by your signature you have latest one, so go the shop or somthing and test it to see if it improves...
I had the same issues for ages signal dropping out all the time and slow speeds I tried all the different radios and roms and everything, I can't confirm because I'm no dev but I think it was down to the kernal I only use the tytung r10 latest with 2.15 radio

is there a 3g survey on the market for your area? because apparently its meant to be very accurate the one i use is UK 3g Survey and tells you precisely how much 3g connection your getting say like 3g 30% 2g 70% / 3g 80% 2g 20% you get me point anyways... look it up

but if it's kernal related then we will never know cause they all use the same kernal version....
BTW can it be Bootloader related? i mean cLK/MAGDLR?

Do you have a MVNO?

Do you see the roamming icon (R) in the coverage bars?
Check your apn settings in mobile networks. Google the values but the only thing you should change is the mms port and proxy to 8080 and 216.155.165.50 respectively

[Q] Defy+ with Custom ROM loses network

Hi recently bought a Motorola Defy+ 2.3.6, of course which has Motoblur I want to get rid of. I tried a number of custom ROMs (CM7.2 & WhiteRabbitEdition), I could get them to install and run fine. The problem is that after a few minutes (or hours), the phone seems to lose connection to the mobile network. The phone still shows 2 or 3 bars of coverage, but cannot make a call or send SMS. Reboot fixes the problem, but only for a while. I am on the Telstra 850/2100 network in Australia, baseband was set using baseband switcher. Wifi seems to be working fine.
I have tried:
- cm72-20120429-NIGHTLY-Defy+.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618904.
- an earlier Epsylon3 build
- WhiteRabbitEdition v1.5.1 & v1.3.1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510063.
No such problem occurs when I revert to standard Motorola build.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Is anyone else successfully using custom ROM on Telstra?
Leigh.
Have you tired changing your baseband to your country. it is some where in CYANOMODGEN settings.
Yes, I changed the baseband to Australia -> Telstra (850/2100).
On boot after h or 3g connects quickly switch to 2g only for a min then back fixes it for me have a try I use euro skank roms quick and stablest
Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
Thanks for the suggestion, it does seem to fix the problem, providing I leave it on 2G only. If I switch back to 3G, the problem re-occurs, albeit seems to take a bit longer to happen. 2G is fine for calls and SMS, but if I want to use high speed data, this is a bit of a pain. Also Telstra has broader coverage on 3G rather than 2G.
I also noticed that once it has "gone deaf" to the network, the "Search networks" never finds any mobile networks either. Also, I cannot change the "Use only 2G networks" setting any more.
My Defy+ model number is MB526.

Just tried update-cm-7.2-20120507-Defy+-signed.05072012-0137 from http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/gigglebread/?id=jordan_plus, but sill no good . this one seemed to last quite a bit longer before the problem occurred, not sure if that was statistically significant though.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help,

Yes, tried setting to 2G only prior to reboot. After the reboot, if I switch off 2G only, it again loses connection after a while.
I have not changed roaming options, that is all fine. The SIM works perfectly in another phone, and also with Motorola standard ROM.
My next plan is to try CM9, see if that makes any difference.

[Solved] Data Reception with WinMo but not Android

Hey mates,
at the moment i'm in a corner of New Zealand ( ) where i thought that there would be no data reception. I can make only phone calls. But Data is working i know that cause i used it on other places like Auckland. The interesting thing is following:
After some time (tyween ROM) my HD2 started making random restarts, so i decided to reflash my HD2 from the beginning. So if flashed back to the original Stock ROM to make a clean flash for the tytung ROM afterwards. Suddeny i had good 3g Data reception. Then i flashed the tytung ROM and again i had no data reception
So it seems there must be something with Anroid ?!
Any ideas or solutions? Anybody recognised the same
check teh apns, , i always have non working data when i install any android rom, , it seems teh defaults mess with each other. I have to delete all but two (one data one mms) and tweak the mms one to get full data/mms functionality. Ive never yet had an android rom that works out of the box for mms, and most dont work for data either (though some do, , but data only, they NEVER work for mms)
Just checked the APN settings, deleted them and configured them new as shown here under the point internet. But also before i deleted them they were correct.
It is still not working. It would also amaze me if this would help.
Cause as i said before. For example in Auckland or other cities i had no problem.
Also no in Germany. Now i am in a rural area. Never had any problems like this before.
Maybe i should try another Radio Rom??!

unlikely to help.
i came across this
The 2 Degrees network is new to New Zealand. To get national coverage, 2 Degrees have a roaming coverage with Vodafone, which means you use the 2 Degrees mobile towers in the main cities, and then your USB modem (or 2 Degrees phone) roams to Vodafone and uses the Vodafone network if there are no 2 Degrees towers in your area.
