Permanent Sliding Lock Screen - Bravo General

I was able to finally get my phone upgraded to 2.2.1 FroYo, but now (this happened one day when I woke up and checked my phone) I've lost the ability to check the option to "allow app installations from unknown sources" as well as I now have a 'permanent' sliding lock screen that I cannot remove/fix no matter what I do. I've tried playing around with all of the "Location & Security" settings to see if that would remove the sliding lock screen, but the only thing I found I could do was add an additional lock (pattern, pass code, password). I also tried wiping the different cache's available via bandroid's Recovery app and the Android Recovery, but neither worked. I tried resetting the phone entirely and that didn't work either. I tried re-flashing 2.2 via RSD Lite as well as applying the update via the Recovery screen, but neither of those worked either.
I noticed that when I'm at the Android Recovery screen, I still receive errors, which are:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/caller
I was thinking that one or both of these had something to do with my problem(s), but I haven't been able to find those files(?) or how to fix this.
Any additional help would be awesome.
EDIT: I now have found that neither bandroid's Overclock nor Bootstrap apps work anymore. When I first installed them, they worked fine, but now I'm getting errors with both. With the Overclock, it keeps telling me the "module didn't open" or something and with the Boostrap, it says it was "successful," but it happens almost instantaneously (which didn't happen before) and I'm unable to use the "Reboot" button.

you need to re-root. just run super one click, then reboot, then my apps will work again.
then you can use my app if you want to enable unknown sources: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bandroidx.nmaenabler
or there are free ways to do it (well kinda, they require more expensive apps) that are in the forums here.

If you search my posts, there may be an answer to your problem. If you have a corporate email account, i've seen where removing and re- adding that may help...
I'm trying to get the pattern without the screen lock screen, but haven't figured that out yet

That's apparently a feature, not a bug ( even though my phone doesn't work like the Motorola rep says.)

oh thanks, sorry i mis understood OP.
yeah that might be a requirement in froyo on phones. There is a tablet tweak in CM7 that allows you to disable the sliding lockscreen but idk if that is portable to the bravo or not.

Oh, okay. Well, that's a let down. When I first updated the lock screen wasn't there. It all of a sudden appeared a couple of days ago after the update.
Would there be a way to disable or change that via the bootloader or a mod? It is pretty annoying having to slide to unlock every time now.

I will look into it, i think its there to avoid accidently pressing the screen like crazy, all you would have to do is bump the power button in your pocket and you would be dialing and txting everyone lol

Have you tried "No Lock"? It turns it off for me.
Bandroid - I believe line 61 in com.motorola.android.providers.settings turns it on/off
(If you're looking into the lock screens, I would love a way to turn that off, but keep the pattern-unlock)

Before the update I could turn off all of the lock screens and the only button that turned the screen back on was the lock/power button, bandroid. It even worked for a couple days after the 2.2 update and then it changed one morning when I checked my phone.
I'm also now missing the "unknown sources" option in the applications settings. I'm not sure where it went, but I was able to root my phone again and enable third party apps via super one click.
I tried clicking the "disable" option for the lock screen, but that didn't remove the "sliding" lock screen.

Awesome. That "no lock" app worked nicely. The only thing is that now the volume rocker buttons turn the screen on, but that's not really a big deal to me.
Thanks for that.

JF1.51 Rooted G1 Won't Lock With Red Button

Hello,
After rooting my G1... I've noticed I cannot lock the phone by pressing the red button. I can unlock the phone fine using MENU (or now the Lock 2.0) application, but I have been unable to lock by pressing the red button since I rooted/changed the firmware.
Also, I've had problems with text messages sending (sparadically) and issues with the Market downloading applications without having to reboot the phone.
I do have the most up to date Radio firmware from HTC.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff
What does it do when you press the red button?
And whats the deal with that poll? Doesn't seem related. You also missed some choices that might be more popular... i.e. 2 days, 3 days, 5 days.
My phone has been crashing sparadically, force closes. For the past two days pressing end called asked me to set a default action, for which there was only two options "Home" and "Lock 2.0 (WARNING DO NOT CHOOSE THIS) or something to that effect. When I chose home, the button did absolutely nothing, but I never chose Lock. I have not disabled lock, intentionally... But running "Backup for Root Users" wiped my contacts, e-mails, sms, all application settings, my google account, everything.
So go figure.. that somehow fixed the locking issue, but my phone is still far from stable.
I can't imagine anyone getting 24 hours of battery life without plugging it in. I have the original HTC battery and a generic battery too, no luck.
I have GPS and Wifi disabled, brightness down low. I have 3G disabled as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff
First of all do a wipe on the phone. If that does not fix it I would re-flash the rom that you are using and wipe. Hope that helps.
if your running jf 1.51 there should be a app called spare parts if you go into that app there is a section that allows you to pick wut the end call button should do whether it be go to the home screen turn the screen of or both
NYSteeler you star! I completely forgot about that option in Spare Parts!
Just installed cyanogen's latest ROM and I was having similar problems. For some reason when it was set to 'Home then Sleep' the red button does nothing. But when set to just 'sleep' it locks the phone as it should!
There's probably a conflict somewhere... but I can do without the hassle of add/removing apps one at a time to see which one it is! And I can live with having to push 'Home' then 'End'.. It's easier than waiting for the screen to timeout!
And who on earth is getting more than 24hrs out of their G1 battery!? Maybe if you leave it at home for the day...! I get about 12-13 at the most out of mine.

Haptic feedback, vibration and green trace screen lock pattern gone

I am rooted and a problem just popped up out of the blue. I received a replacement Fascinate several days ago and reinstalled Evil Fascination 3.6. The next day my text messages from the previous 24 hours were gone. Then I noticed the haptic feedback and vibration were gone. I checked the settings and all were set okay. I rebooted a couple times and then decided to go to Com Rom Ultimate Kangbang 2.0, then immediately flashed the 2.1 update thinking that would surely fix it but it didn't. Same problems. Is it the phone or should I try to flash something different? Thanks!
Thought I would follow up my own post. Still not sure what happened to the vibrate but I couldn't get any answers from the smartest people on the planet when it comes to android phones so I had to assume it was a malfunction of the device. Assurion swapped it out for me. I re-rooted, flashed comrom ultimate kangbang 2.1 and I'm back in business. Hopefully no one else has experienced this.
Oddly though, the green trace that used to follow me on the screen lock pattern still doesn't trace, but it unlocks when I swipe it appropriately so maybe that's a software update to froyo, I don't know....

There's a toggle under "Location and Security" that makes the trace visible/invisible.
Wow, thanks! I never saw that before and what's weird is when I just went to look for that toggle it wasn't there. There was only an option to show passwords as they were being typed. So I decided to change the pattern and sure enough it showed up. I really don't like it being on, after it was gone it was nice knowing anyone couldn't watch my pattern. Anyway, thanks, nice to know it's a feature.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10.1(.2 or latest nightly) - Lockscreen Problems

Dear all,
a few days ago I started again using Cyanogenmod, first latest stable (10.1.2) and today also latest nightly.
In Settings lockscreen is enabled with cLock-Widget, till now I tried normal unlock (move only), pattern, PIN and Password but in 90% of all cases, if I switch of my Nexus with Power, it is NOT locked. Pressing Power again, after a few seconds, minutes or just hours still show homescreen oder latest app which was open. Same if I do not use Power but waiting for automatic Lockscreen.
Do anyone has the same problem or just know how to fix that?

What are your settings for under Security for:
"Automatically Lock after ## after sleep" and do you have "Power button instantly locks" checked?

I've noticed this as well. Since around the time of the 10.1.2 release.
Basically, I've changed the default settings so there's a lock screen and it works at first, but then, seemingly randomly will stop working, ie no lock screen whatsoever. I can leave the phone for hours, and there's no security.
Seems like a pretty serious flaw to me. I've actually upgraded my CM installation, as well as done a complete reinstall, doing a factory reset, and updating to the latest nightly, ie last nights, and this issue is still there.
Basically means I can't rely on CM for keeping my phone secure. I've changed the settings back and forth, tried different security settings, reset things, reinstalled, etc. Tried everything I can think of.
Yes, all the proper settings are there, basically CM's default settings once you turn the lock screen on should work, power button instantly locks, timeout etc.
About ready to go back to an earlier version or different rom completely.
Anyone have any thoughts?

I just loaded my first rom on my Note 2 today. Getting the same thing. The quick fix is to close all the open apps, then it kicks you right back into the lock screen. I double click, then button in the top right and closes them all auto for me. I think it might be FB Messenger causing the issues but I can't say for sure. LMK if you that helps in the short term?
Am not running FB Messanger, so that's not causing it for me.
I'm using a pattern on my lock screen, not sure if this issue exists with all types of lock screens.
Hi all,
I've just installed CM 10.1.2 on my SGS2 (GT-I9100) yesterday and I had the exact same problem.
I've just figured out where the problem is:
I use Handcent SMS app, and when I receive a text, a quick reply window pop up. If I type my reply in it and hit send, it deactivate my lock screen.
Hope my answer helps!
I have the same issue. Disabled the popup function in Handcent settings and lockscreen i working.

Help! Several major issues on 4.3 (home button, SIM, lock screen)

My N4 was away to repair a broken screen. Got it back on Wednesday and it immediately updated to 4.3. All was well, except for one weird issue where hitting a notification from the pull down would take me to the app via the pattern lock. I put this down to having played with some lock screen settings in Setting Profiles app (trying to disable it in certain settings), but it might not have been.
I've done the first device restart today, and after rebooting there are a few big issues.
1. I don't appear to have any mobile network, though wifi is connected. I had a good signal before the reboot.
2. I'm not getting a lock pattern or any lock screen at all, and it's not asked for the SIM pin
3. Hitting a notification in the pull-down makes the 'lock' clicking sound as it takes me to the app
4. The home button doesn't work. I see a slight dim of the screen and it makes the lock click sound, but nothing happens. Back and multitask work fine
Help! Any ideas? Are they known issues? Can't seem to find any reference online.
I'm on stock, using Nova Launcher

Those are not any known issues or anything I have read since Andrid 4.3 came out. Try a factory reset to see if that solves the problem. If not, maybe the screen wasn´t the only thing broken on your device. Ask for warranty.
Thanks, will see how I get on this evening and try a factory reset if it doesn't fix itself.
Seems to be a weird problem related to the lock screen and when it should/shouldn't kick in...

Glad I could help.
Ok, I've done a factory reset. Not had much chance to play as it took hours to reinstall everything. But I've just had the word issue where selecting something from the notification tray (the setting profiles shortcut) took me to the lock screen to put in my pattern first, then took me to the app.
EDIT no pattern to when it does it, seems random and can be while I'm using the device, so the lock screen shouldn't kick in for any reason
Any ideas? Faulty device?

Can't get past Lollipop Tap & Go setup screen

Whenever I hit skip, it'll show a blank page with a status bar and the back navigation key and then just take me to the wifi menu. I can't skip the wifi menu (The button is disabled). I've reflashed twice (using flash-all.bat) and used the stock recovery to restore to factory settings. Any help is appreciated. I used the leaked ROM but I heard it's the same.

Same here. I flashed the factory image from the Google site. I get connected to WiFi, but the next screen has "Skip" greyed out, and it just stalls ("Checking connection..." "This can take up to a minute"). I'm rebooting now and trying again, and will report back.
Update: Same thing. I know the WiFi connection is good, but I guess I'll try again when I get home tonight.

From Lollipop, Google wants user has a working net connection to boot up.
Prob 1, Your wifi has an active firewall to prevent accessing google servers.
Prob 2, You don't have a sim card or data plan.

Probably next time you can try choose language like "Chinese"(中文简体), Cuz' here we have firewall to block Google, Probably google knows that so the connection check only last for one minute. This worked for me.
