Does the S II compass provide 99%+ accuracy? I've never had a phone (iOS or Android) with an accurate compass.

Quadrant Schmadrant.... take a few graphic heavy sites and download them...compare to your previous phone
I.also have it on ATT...trying for a week.
Speed test is 2500 avg-, Quadrant is 3200+, real world performance (site download times) is just OK. Ping times are relatively slow for some reason.

Thats odd I am getting over 6000 on speedtest here in austin. Is yours not connecting to 4g?

It takes a long time to charge. Kind of reminds of my nexus s. I wonder if its a samsung thing?

Data speed on the vibrant :)

Hey, im not sure if any of you noticed but i had a nexus one which was a great phone! but it seems the vibrant is much fast when loading pages and pulling in data on edge and 3g. It's hard to explain what i mean but it's just a little more powerful. anyone else notice this? when you download apps, especially on 3g.. it's like #pow! and installed... very zippy!
just wanted some opinions. I can't wait until a real rom is generated for this phone and they create a 3200 mah battery for this. IM BUYING IT lol
Also yall should try Skyfire browser from the market and set your browser to open as Desktop rather than android or iPhone. Even on edge, the pages open so fast!
check it out!
yea, the data seems quite zippy on the phone, even if the speed readings are a bit inconsistent. I did hit 5 Mbps in pasadena yesterday tho.

I too came from a n1 and yes this beats it in speeds. Even on edge with no bars is faster than my n1 with 2 bars... I just wish the signal bars wasn't wacky. Its throwing my thinking off...lol

I'm lucky if I get .5 Mbps here in vegas.. And we supposedly have that high speed network here. I went to california not long ago and edge there completely blew away the 3g in vegas. That is very sad.

then the next day, saw 1.9 - someone on another forum said when he had spotty svc at home, he complained and Tmo sent a tech out to his tower, and a week later his was smoking with 4 bars constant

I was blown away. There had been reports of 4g signals in Queens, but I just found out that we were getting a signal here in Brooklyn early this morning on a fluke. I tested around 4mbps indoors near a window. And the pic is the result from outside. On stability I'd rate it a 6.5. Signal did drop a few times intermittently. But pretty good overall.

This is good ol' Brooklyn, USA. Lefferts Gardens-Prospect Park area to be exact. The 3G service around here is actually pretty darn good. I average about 1.5 to 2.2 most times, so I'm not even that pressed about 4G, but I'm damn sure glad to see it is available if the occasion ever arises that I need it! Where To Buy An "Employee" N1?

I already own an N1 that I bought at release, but I've always wanted to pick up an Employee version of the phone...as I've heard it has a significantly higher overclock capability, plus I love the back cover
Anybody know if these are possible to pick up, and if so, where?
Ebay.......
Sometimes I see one on ebay. But really, all I want is the fancy battery cover.
Is there actually a difference in cpu? How have I never heard of this lol
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Source for this? I have no idea how it would be more overclockable than any other nexus...faik it's just a fancy cover.
Employee copies were "BETA" devices, for testing purposes. I have heard from several developers that they had a higher overclock capability..

lol. It's the modified kernel that allows an overclock, not the rom. It's not even worth OCing imho. All that risk for 113-119 mHz...And no noticeable difference (outside of benchmarks, which don't matter anyways).
With CM6 final and wildmonk kernel I overclock to 1228mhz with no problem. Now having it over clock to 1. 4 gh will be impressive

I've never seen the point in risking a $500+ phone to squeeze better benchmarks out of it. To each his own, I guess.
Again, the rom you use has no affect on overclock capabilities. It's all the kernel and SetCPU.
Nice post count btw! lol
I like to max out the phone much as I can. It not line it runs at max all time only when its on. It will reduce the life of the phone. But do ever use the phone over a year or two. Nope. Its all a preference. Also you feel the difference on speed with oc.
And what about my post count? I am no dev. I am a phone enthusiast. I come here to get info and share my experience with the mods. Sorry if my post count is not to your liking.

I was surprised the GPS couldn't get a speed lock, though- there were some 10 good satellites in view. Either it needs an internet connection (which I didn't think it would for speed, vs. mapping) or the logic figures you shouldn't be going > 99MPH and filters it out as a bad datapoint).
Somehow, I knew this was going to be about altitude.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of "throw out this data point if it's an outlier" (i.e., too high or even negative, due to errors in the received GPS data) for better reliability.
But since installing the Pro version, I see there's a setting for "Max Speed" which has an option for "Airplane" (600MPH), so it was apparently the GPS Test application just not working over 100MPH.
I'll try it again on my flight back home from work this week; stay tuned!
This is the way back to work tonight; I guess that's a pretty decent speed for a 737:

According to the Dev's docs, yeah- but I also wonder if some of that is due to the limitation of either the calculations or of even the GPS chip itself (the speed of the updates). But you're right- I think even a balls-out 747 is capable of only Mach .92 (~615 MPH) so I'm pretty sure we're gonna stay under that limit (unless we're on a long-haul craft trying to beat weather!)
Blah blah blah. All I wanna know is how you were still high after getting thru security.

You must have the paid GPS Test (or another GPS app); in the first picture I had 10 sats being used for fixes (all "green bars") but the for-free app itself didn't support speeds > 100MPH (by design).
Didn't get speeds in-flight 'till I'd upgraded; that's what's being shown in the 2nd pic.
I loved this post. I had to show my friends this one and then let them read the details. Very good hook to get people to read.

Is a Build.prop.edit a bad thing? If that's the case I think I'm just going to go ahead and root and see if I can use EI20. The problem is once I put EI20 on my phone, I won't be able to update anymore right? It will be nice to have my phone Bingless though.

Quadrant is a bit bunk I agree with that, but I noticed that on Galaxy S phones running 2.3.4 and higher that the Quadrant scores have been reading anywhere from the low 1400s to the low 1700s. I just wanted to know what they changed in Gingerbread that made the phones a bit more responsive.
That said bro, /beg would be nice to see some screenies.
I'm really wondering how EH03 matches up against EI20 on the generic sch-i500(Showcase) or how it matches up to EH09 on the Mesmerize.

This sounds like a bit of fail on Verizon's end.
Too bad none of the leaks are stable...nothing but problems with force closings, random loud static while on calls and other various problems. I think Verizon is actually swapping them for totally different devices if you call and complain...

From what I heard, the leak is pretty good, everyone says the phone has really sped up with this Gingerbread build, not only that, but for once when you hit the search button it goes directly to Google search, no more Bing crap. That said, Bing is still on the phone, but much less prevalent.
What kind of Quadrant scores are you getting with Galaxy S Epic 4G Gingerbread official release?
