Key navigation for CWM - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Q NC Ver 1.2; I finally created a boot CWM mSD and got the critter to boot!! I wanted to try some menu which would not change anything, so I tried Keytest. Unfortunately I couldn't exit, every key and key combo returned a code. Finally I tried holding the power button and one of the volume buttons for about 6 sec, and it exited. Is there a list of navigation instructions for CWM? I was about to pull the battery when I stumbled across the right combo!

Good little overview of CWM

On the Nook Color, volume up/down controls the cursor. Power button is back. N button selects.

It is different for each device. On my Optimus One it is volume up/down and menu to select. I have no idea on your device. Experiment. There are only a few possibilities.

Key mapping alternate power button

Curious as to whether anyone has attempted to remap one of the 4 buttons on the Shift as an alternate to the power button on the top of the phone.
Personally I can live w/o the "search" button, and if it's remapped to act as a second power on/on toggle, that'd.....be.....awesome.
I think the power button has to be a physical non-capacitive button. The 4 bottom buttons are just part of the screen and so will not respond to a touch if the screen is off.

Good point, I didn't even think of that. You're right.
Thanks!
Now if someone could get it to turn on after you did a double tap on the volume up button or something. That would be bad-ass.

This is a GREAT idea.
I'd like it if while in the camera app the volume keys worked as camera buttons.

I know what you mean, like some sort of 'profile' based key mappings.

Downloaded and re-mapped the Volume Down button to work as an alternate Power button (since i just use toggle widgets and settings for volume anyway), and remapped Power button to open Camera. Great app!

Button layout

Hey guys,
I don't have a Note, thus I ask it to you all
Are there buttons beside the Home, Power and Volume keys?
Yes the capacitive ones like on SGS2, to the left there is the menu button and to the right there is the back button.
Search button is missing (long press on menu button instead).

No You have power on the right side, Vol on the leftside down in the middle the home button and 2 softkeys for "back" and "Options" ... nothing more.
I love my Cam Button at the Streak, cause for selfshooting with the main Cam this is nearly required..

Cyanogenmod 7 home button on the bottom screen missing?

Hey guys I recently download Cyanogenmod7 for my Kindle Fire but whenever I load it up all I can see is the back button and some things and no Home Button. I have to hold the Home Button to go to the settings and hit the Home button. I know this seems to be a stupid question but am I the only one who seems to be having this problem. o_o

[Q] Remapping button keys?

My power button stopped working sadly and the only way to unlock my phone is through the ticker *which comes in very handy* but I was wondering if anyone knows how to remap keys for the Continuum so I can unlock from volume buttons or something due to broken power button. >.<

tb modded softkeys, not sure how he editted the .kl files havent tried but it may involve smali
pwr butt fix
i editted the key layout to wake with volumes and camera.
easiest way is to dowmload attachment, and use TB101 instant themer/decompiler/cwm-maker/cant wait for v6... and put it with the rest of softkey layouts (folder is labeled) and drag your frameworks in and mod. it will spit out a cwm you can push and reboot recovery.
this is easiest cause i dont know what framework your on.
if you cant do themer post ur framework-res.apk or send me link.

Actually for some odd reason whenever I remove the battery and put it back on it goes it cwm when I hold only the volume buttons. No power button. Weird, but lucky. So I have that. plus the new 14 toggles give me another easy way to get in cwm. So no worries there either.

It kind of sucks. Solution with holding multitasking button was better, because now you have to press button in the right moment and it takes a while to learn it.

I agree it sucks, I have an otter box on my Galaxy Nexus and its practically impossible to press it in the right spot... Google aggregates me by changing the UI for no reason, the press-and-hold power and tap the screenshot option seemed much easier to me.
Is there a way to change this without a third-party app?
it maybe different with nexus, but I was looking for the same option with my Xperia (have a custom Rom, but standard 4.2 system)
I bypassed the power + volume option, by going to settings/system/power menu, and ticked 'screenshot'
hopefully you have this option in settings too
