Best Music Settings for Metal - Desire HD General

Hi .. Experimenting for so long I think I have finally hit upon the perfect settings for listening to metal and rock (I dont listen to the new metal .. I am talking about old stuff .. ledzep, deep purple, dio, acdc etc)
If you are on CM7 ... in dsp manager - this is the combination i use from left to right - +3 +2 +6 +2.5 +4 . There can be a variation of +/-.3
If you are on sense download this app - volume + .. headset settings, enable speaker modifications, eq type select rock, choose the maximum volume level, bass enhancing is set to 0, and enable stero widening. In the sense music app select equalizer and choose Bass Booster.
EDIT: Sorry forgot to add that if you are using sense you need to use the eq type bass boost in the stock music player
If you have a setting that sounds better than this, please share here.

As long as it's loud I don't really care \mm/ \mm/

It can never be really loud enough can it?? hehehe ...

It depends on the earphones. What are you using?

Headphones: I use JVC Marshmallows, and the stock music player, set to SRS enhancement.
In Car: Stock music player, with EQ set to ROCK...
EQ on my Kenwood CD player in car is set (Treble -2, Mid -2, Bass +3)
*This is all being driven to 4 MA Audio 6x8 250w each speakers, and 4 MA Audio tweeters.
Want GREAT metal and bass together for testing? Youtube search "Michael Johnson Transmission" (This is not me, just REALLY good "basement made" metal.)

You are a genius. Tested with Walk by Pantera and it's about as perfect as it can be (on this phone / headphones).
Cheers.

I am just using the stock headphones .. and these settings give me the best result on stock headphones

Headphone Music Increase (It's too quiet as an MP3 player)

Hi, Just got my HTC HD2 after a break from HTC handsets.
I've noticed when listening to music, even when turned up max, the music is quite quiet.
I've tried the audio booster but that seems to just do bass, vocal etc. not the overall volume.
On my old Omnia I had the same issue, but you could run SoundTester.exe and manually increase the db's.
But I don't seem to have that on the HD2.
Any ideas how to make the music louder? I mean walking past traffic & the music is easily drowned out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
searh for srs wow in the apps section of this xda hd2 forum.
and if you are a junglist check out ukbreakbeat.com
Maybe its the headphones? I have a set of fontopia headphones and on full volume it is properly painful.
Yeah my sennies get hilariously loud on full whack, suggest noise isolating as opposed to simple in ear. Once I got the correct sized ear adapter on em, even the tube cant intrude on my tunes
I'll check out srs wow thanks.
I'm using a set of Sony MDR-XD200 headphones at the moment, as I wasn't a fan of the standard HTC ones. They've been ok with other handsets & MP3 players (Except the omnia which had this problem too).

what was that...?
lol, no it was definetly quiet, alot more than it should be.
Do you remember on some of the old custom roms (I had one on my p3600) the audio broke and was really quiet, that is what this seems like.
But the SRS WOW has just about done the job, thanks
You know on normal windows mobile you can click on the speaker at the top and adjust ringing volume & device volume, I can't do that on the HD2, I can use the volume keys on the side, but that just does 1 generic volume, I was wondering if the device volume was set low, but I can't check it.

I'd say he needs some better headphones with higher impedence. I have Sennheisers and they are very very loud but then they are 70 Ohms
The only problem I have with my HTC HD2 as a music player is probably going to sound pretty minor. I have a set of Sennheisser in ear buds that I love and used to use on an iPod Touch. At it's loudest, the volume is a bit much for me usually, but the bar just below it I find isn't loud enough. Picky, I know, but it just seems like a big leap between volume levels. Is there any way of helping this?

Yep I have some too, dug them out last night to give them ago, no better really.
So I've tried Sennheiser Eco Ear Canal, Sony MDR-XD200 & the standard HTC ones packaged with the HD2.
All are too quiet, it's not my hearing, tried them all on the Omnia & they are deafening, also with the HD2 I can hear other stuff going on around me, cars, walking on gravel etc. Very strange others are not having this issue.

Thanks! Yeah, unfortunately they were both on 100%
I have akg 321 in-ear buds, before that akg 315 normal style, I haven't experienced any volume problems with music.

I had this issue. If you go to the volume screen that appears when you press the side volume buttons you can adjust the system volume by touching the bars to get gradual and precise volume increase/decrease. Using the toggle buttons makes it jump too much, stupid design imo.
Also the music player should have it's OWN volume control, instead it adjusts the entire system volume, again a ridiculous design flaw IMO also the volume graphic in the music player dissapears sometimes in rom 1.44, can't comment on other roms. I've had 2 HD2's and both have done the same thing.
Getting back to Junglist: I think you have a hardware issue mate, the full volume on this unit is very loud and even louder when used with audio booster. No one else has this problem. I use the sennheiser (spelling!) cx300's awesome headphones, and cheap
Talking of Audio booster again, in conjunction with the music player it is excellent, it handles the frequencies very well compared to say coreplayers eq that end up distorting the headphones with even minor bass frequency boosting. Using coreplayers pre amp is pointless also, complete distortion and hard to control, not very finger friendly.
It's such a shame about the Audio Booster switching itself off when jumping tracks even when it is left running in the background, it's only use therefore, is listening to long mixes. Too much of a pain to keep switching it back on after individual tracks You also have to switch it back on if you pause music and navigate away for a bit.
I hope HTC are aware of this and fix it in the next firmware update

25. Allow Audio Booster to Stay On.
Notice how after every song Audio Booster turns off again? A very simple solution is to press the Home button and not the "Done" softkey. This keeps Audio Booster running.
58. Keep Audio Booster Running After Each Song
Another way to keep Audio Booster running while playing music is to use the following reg tweak:
HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config\enter_su spend and change 1 to 0
Although I have left the booster off and the volume no higher than 85% as with my Sennheiser HD-25 professional monitoring/DJ headphones on its too loud above these settings. With other headphones I have tried I agree its a bit quiet but not too bad. Maybe you have deafened yourself by having your music too loud

Thanks mate but i know about them. The tweaks don't work
even when audiobooster is still in the background (and dutty's task manager says so) it still doesn't work. Sometimes it does though, it's a bit random.
It certainly doesn't work if you pause the music and come back to it
Tried Nitrogen? I downloaded the other day but its still sat on my sd card

help finding the best equalizer

hi everyone
i have just recently bought this app and cant believe i had not found it any earlier!
it has the best user experience a music player could give to you
i have been scouring the web for the different equalizer settings hoping i would find one that suits me best but so far no luck!
when ever i try a equalizer its either too bassy or the treble is not right then i hear the crackling sound! (on over ear headphones)
on the stock player i fared quite well with a equalizer but when i tried copying it on the poweramp equalizer it was over empowering
i listen to alot of hip hop, r&b, uk grime, bass driven tracks
i listen for bass and lyrics so how would i go about adjusting my equalizer to meet my requirements?
what is you equalizer like?
kind regards
eventually you will end up turning the equaliser off and getting a good set of headphones - you might hate the concept now - but if you want clear music with bass that doesnt distort then a flat eq is "best" for that. if you want to fiddle with an equaliser - dont make it go above 0 - always start from 0 and cut the sound away to get the sound eq curve you want - adding sound by increasing an eq curve above 0 causes distortion.
look up "mixget" and the instructions on how to use it - you can add volume with this - but its unlimited - you could damage your hearing BADLY with this program - do NOT set it to full and then plug in your ears and hit play - it could damage your hearing with the volume.... (and blow up your house and rape your dog and steal your car etc etc etc etc etc) seriously - this program can cause hearing DAMAGE - it unlocks the volume limiter on the internal headphone amp and can blow your ears out of your head.... take care with this one - but when its setup.
also look up "voodoo sound" by supercurio - mixget is based off his work
you will end up being very happy with lots of bass on your headphones from the galaxy phone - its a very high quality sound system
have fun and do lots of research
and dont listen to mp3's get flac files - if you want to know why - get your favorite track as an mp3 - then get it as a flac - tell me afterwards what you think of the flac bass response compared to the mp3 response
i am wiping my mp3 collection and replacing it with flac as i can find the tracks takes up more space but its worth it
the best thing you can do for listening to music tho
find a quiet place with no background noise..... its amazing how much sound you miss due to the quietest background noise.
i loves my sgs and my grado headphones

just cant get the volume/quality from phones auto on HD595 headphones

information might need...
PHONE :- hd2 leo
ROM :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 (v2.9 + cLK install)
HEADPHONES :- sennheiser hd595
hi all i have an issue. today my cowon d2 died on me after a few years good service, so i converted my self to using my hd2 + nand android + sennheiser hd595. i added some music "hq" stuff and started to listen using the built in music player... boy was i disappointed ....please read on for more info
1) default music player :- i found this to lack umth, i had the volume maxed and couldnt find an eq built into the player and well i listen to it for 20min and it was just poor quality, so i downloaded a volume+ app... this one
2) the volume+ app i downloaded
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.TEST.android.lvh
well i played about with this for an hour and i found its worse with it on than without it, sure it louder but even with the bass+volume maxed in android + volume+ the sound still lacked quality, id prefer the normal android sound i got before this app but with higher volume
3) so i downloaded power amp.. now this is much better, well i thought so, only problem now is im using the built in eq and the more i increase the bass the lower the volume gets, and if i increase the preamp function then its all distorted and horid YET my mp3 player before it passed away ran these head phone twice as loud with alot more bass..LOTS MORE... im not even touching half way point on the headphones output so it must me the phone amp right?
so what are my options, is their away to get better sound from this device, please help me

Sound Quality

i know this issue has been discussed for a while,
but is there any update?
sound quality is bad, and low.
is there some mod to overcome this issue?
success stories?
A favorite of mine is Volume+ (Sound Boost).
It is Gingerbread only and really does improve the audio.
Try the free version first here but the full version does have a lot more to offer.
Full Version includes:
* +8 in all settings (Free goes to +4)
* 9 EQ presets (Free has 1)
* Advanced Settings - gives you complete EQ control: you can control each EQ band independently. (NOT INCLUDED IN FREE VERSION)
Only had my GS2 for 3 days, but I love the sound quality, especially in the headphones with my custom EQ settings. Voice calls are loud enough as well.
I never have any problems with sound quality but this thread made it even better.

Would you care to broaden your opinion on the HS3000, I am interested in purchasing a set of these myself.
Sound would seem to have improved on KI3.

i found that player pro (headphones setting)+ Equalizer app pumps my denon ah-d1100's well so as my yuin pk2's
i go with anything stock will be much better i guess
btw, a new firmware is available now
I9100CEKI2
does this one also features sound improvements?
because 2.3.5 isnt official
Looking forward to the audio improvements in 2.3.5.
slight improvement, but better.

and btw 5.1 Sound in Music Player is pure bull-crap

[Q] How to boost Headset sound volume ????

Hello all,
Before my Nexus 4 I have a Galaxy Nexus, and I love to listen music in maXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX volume,
On the GN, I can find easily kernels with easy and good sound boost, in trickster mod,, just have to chose between 0 1 2 3 sound boost, and enable or disable HQ sound
And it really works well with a Goood sound
On my Nexus 4 I tryed to play with my preferd player : PowerAMP, I tryed to boost replay gain, enable/disable direct sound control, tryed to boost volume in DSP manager, boost volume wiith franco kernel headset and volume boost options...... but when I try any sound boost, rapidly the sound become stronger but with a very poor quality, and horrible crackling.....
I tryed XLOUDER on my GN and N4 but for me i'ts just a renamed DSP manager.
Somebody have a GOOD way to boost the sound with good quality please ? any app/kernel/hack ?
Because I LOVE listen music with the volume to maximum, but not with this horrible crackling ....
Thanks a lot for replies
I use the xlouder mod posted on the themes and apps section with the franco kernel app with the volume boost set to 6 and gain set somewhere to 4 to 6. It realllllllllllllllllllly helps out alot. If you want some good dsp manager settings set the compresion to minimal and bass boost to moderate and set the equalizer to be in the shape of a u with the two end values set to be the biggest but not all the way. Set it to either strong or strongest.
Also you need to have good headset because if you have a cheap one then it will crackle and sound really bad im using monster turbines and they work great without any crackling. There is a bit of hiss due to the volume gain set to be higher then normal but it really doesnt bother me.
thanks,
but if I try to change everithing in DSP manager, or with xlouder, the sound becomes crappy directly
in franco, if I push the headset gain or boost after +3 the sound become crappy....
And if I try XLOUDER, if I just set bass boost in Small (the first) all my earphones gone to explode with bass saturation... even if i try to plug my home Sony amplifier, the sound is completly saturated with bass.....
for earphones, don't worry I have Sennheiser CX 890i , never have any problem with my GN
