Does this have anything similar to the software in the Transformer where you can access your desktop ?
The Transformers software is just a version of Splashtop Remote, which you can buy from the Market quite cheaply anyway.
Similar products include Wyse PocketCloud, for which there is a free and Pro version.

Teamviewer is pretty good, but I don't see how it is "much, much" better than Splashtop Remote, when Splashtop will allow you to play good quality audio and video on your PC streamed to your tablet, and Teamviewer does not.

I just use VNC
Teamviewer works great, simple to use and setup.
Splashtop is cheaper in the amazon app market.

Splashtop is not free, and VNC is for old nerds who wont let it go. I've used Teamviewer now for quite a few months. Installs on remote PC easily and is simple as hell to set up, free on Android, and has the most intuitive viewer of any Android remote access app I've used yet. The free version allows LAN connections too, which is great when I am laying on my couch and just use my Acer as a remote control for my HTPC.
Logmein
Try Logmein, there is even a new Honeycomb compliant app.
They have a free Windows / Mac version that works just fine. The Android app is a little pricey but it works. I have aout ten remote PCs running this software. Logmein has saved me from having to go to peoples offices to fix their PCs.
i just switched from pocketcloud to Splashtop HD, splashtop can stream i was playing SC2 from my tablet =)

been trying to get this to work for a while. m.playon.tv works from the browser when connecting to my lan via wifi but the vids don't play. They only work on iCrap. I even tried dolphin browser with iPhone user agent and no luck. hopefully soon. I want that and/or netflix and I will be happy. give me both without being restricted to my lan and i'll be ecstatic!
I'd be surprised if we don't see support for android on both fronts by the end of the year. I'm glad I'm not the only one that sees the potential for this setup.
I know theres remote access apps but will they work when im not on wifi will they work on 3g?

Yup. I use PhoneMyPC. Works perfect.
I use the free version of pocket cloud, and it's phenomenal. The mouse tool I'd great.

I use Logmein. I've been using it for years with windows mobile. Works great.
I second Logmein. Use it to service over 30 computers and works perfect on the phone.

I've been using PhoneMyPC since I had my Hero. It's also a third of the price of LogMeIn.
i third logmein. sure it's a little pricey, but it WORKS. i've never had to configure firewalls, ports, etc to get it working. just install a client and go. plus the phone-side interface is SLICK.

Logmein has treated me real good. Hundreds of dollars though to continue doing what I want to do and that is, helping my PC tech support business' customers no matter where I am.
At least i think it will be. My free trial of pro isn't over yet. So I dont really know what they are going to take away from me.
I'll definitely check out phonemypc also though.
I normally use Windows' Remote Desktop from my PC to access our managed server. I found an Android RDP app but haven't tried it yet (not free). How do these programs mentioned in this thread compare to/differ from Remote Desktop?

Hulu doesn't allow any mobile device to play their video, except for devices supported by Hulu+ (which I think is only iOS devices at this point).
I've been using PlayOn TV for both Netflix and Hulu on my Xoom, and it works well enough. Needs a Windows PC to stream the video, and it costs a bit of money, but actually still works out less than Hulu+ so it's a bit of a wash at this point.
Use the included My Desktop feature to watch Hulu.

I agree, but be thankful that you can take your Android device out of a box and start using it - with iOs, you are forced to use a computer to "activate" the device. What a PITA!
agreed i had a iphone 4 it was jailbroken. well anyways i tryed to do a master reset so i could sell it and low and behold it forced me to update to the latest software and firmware. it sure was a pain to sell it after that, now i have HTC inspire and much more happy
Actually, there is a flash player mod that hex edits the lib file to trick hulu into thinking your a windows PC. It works great on the incredible aand the xoom (I'm told) :,but whether that will work with transformer is another story.
Also, to the best of my knowledge, it requires root.

dont mean to bring up an old thread but in case anyone is wondering .. using the hacked flash apk, i was able to stream through hulu.com .. works good and although its not in HD, the quality is very good!

Just got my A500 via Staples mail order. Using the stock browser, I tried to catch up on my Falling Skies via XfinityTV with no success. Instead of a show, I got a message to install Microsoft Silverlight plug-in.
One of the reasons I got a tab is to be able to watch shows online when I'm stuck waiting for family at rehearsals, etc. I already have an e-reader and a video player, so this is the gap I need to cover.
Is this possible? Do I need a different browser? Or am I outta luck?

UPDATE: In case anybody else is interested in this, Comcast "thinks" that the Xfinity android app will be updated to allow actual tv episode watching in a couple of months. Apple took precedence and they will eventually finish working on it for Android. Meanwhile, their app is good for controlling your DVR remotely, which is useless for me, which is why I tried to watch through the browser. Which is why I ended up posting here.
As far as I know there isn't any silverlight support for android yet. There was a project called moonlight that was supposedly going to bring silverlight to android but I did not hear anything new about it for the past 6 months, so I assume it is dead.

To whom? It's hardly Acers or Google's fault that these sites decided to use a Windows only technology for their media streaming.
HBOGo on A500 works.
And given that HBOGo app streams video in H.264, the stream from the website is higher quality.

How did you get to work HBO Go when launch says not supported on your device, is there tab ver of it because I'm using the one installed on my phone which works fine there.

Just use the stock browser (or others), go to hbogo.com and sign in. It works that easy.

Almost. If you're on honeycomb 3.1, you need to go into your browser's settings and set the viewing mode to "desktop." If you're still on 3.0, you will need to set your browser to debug mode to enable desktop UA string.
Though really, you will want to watch on 3.1 because supposedly it gets better video performance with Flash.
And if some of the online shows require real player how do you watch that since
the extension is .smil and android real player can't open that to play.
Trying to run hbogo on stock browser along with dolphin opera and Firefox all a nogo has laggy video audio is great but picture very slow running 3.2 stock rom but these sites only run when in desktop mode tablet mode not an option any have a working apk version to install and see if we can get it working or some good setting for the browser

For everyone who wants another way to control their ouya, I recommend giving Droidmote a try! Play Store is going to be required I think because it is a paid app. I got this app for my mk802, originally. And I am happy to say it works well on the ouya now too. it has mouse pad, standard android controls(back, home, menu), keyboard, d-pad, and also media controls like pause/skip/volume. It really does it all!
Try it out and share what you think, or if someone has a better solution let's hear it.
