Folders - Acer Iconia A500

Anyone with any apps that can do folders.. google forgot that part of the story...
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App

search the market for the following:
astro file
es file

File manager HD

you mean all those apps can create a folder on my desktop to put my apps in them??

Try Simi Folder, from the Market. I haven't tried it on the tablet yet but it works great on my phone. It may be just what you're looking for, considering there's no means to do it inherently.

Can you please explain yourself in a bit more detail? Maybe explain exactly what you want to achieve or what you're comparing this functionality to? Then members can probably help you a bit better.
I too thought you just wanted to manipulate files on your tablet. I have no idea what you mean by "create a folder on my desktop to put my apps in them".

I am talking about creating a folders on my main screen so that I can put my games in one folder just like how we do it normally on our Android devices. So that i can have a shortcut on my main screen for my games. Hope i was clear enough??

Ok, you mean the Home Screens. Sorry, I thought you meant the desktop of a computer OS like Windows 7 or OSX. In which case I was stumped.
There's no option for that on the A500 it seems. Not sure if that's due to Acer or Google. But you can put your games in the Game Zone if you wish, I use that as a replacement for Home Screen folders. Just go into your app drawer and look for the Games shortcut. It also links to Multimedia, ebooks and social so you can throw those kind of apps into those areas as well and switch through quickly.
Hope this helps.

simi folder is good and free.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/simi-folder-widget/com.th.android.widget.SiMiFolder
not sure how it looks and performs on the tab...
or folder organizer
http://www.appbrain.com/app/folder-organizer/com.abcOrganizer
theres also a free lite version
both are actual widgets which then are used as "folders"
nor real folders with drag and drog

Folder organizer is fine, powerfull.

Thanks guys...

Sonos Controller for Android

The official Sonos Controller is now in the Android App Market. Unfortunately, there's no Honeycomb support. Can't seems to find the apk on my phone once it was downloaded. Would like to side load it onto my Xoom to see if it works.
Let me know if anyone can point this out.
Install ES File Explorer, open it then click Menu, Manager, App Manager. Long press on the app and press Backup, it will then backup the apk to backups\apps on the sdcard.
Excellent!
Very accurate instructions. I'm very thankful.
No problem

I was able to get it running on my XOOM. But it was definitely built for the phone devices. Its small and vertical. Come on Sonos!

Can you post the apk somewhere ?
I only have one android device, its a tablet... I'd like to try the sonos app.
Thanks

Install Spare Parts from the Market and disable compatability mode, that will stretch the app out for you.

Any registry cleaner apps available?

Yo.. any registry cleaner apps available? Or any apps that clean up empty folders that was left behind from uninstalling an app?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
Registry cleaner? Only Windows keeps a registry. If your rooted try Cache Cleaner from the market.
Does it remove empty folders left behind from uninstalled apps?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
Probably not, I wouldn't worry about those.
Lol. So we have to remove them manully then. Thanks man.

Actually some apps leave huge folders behind, especially on the SD card (particularly games). In my opinion it is a major flaw in the uninstall process.
I agree.. its such a clutter. Does in it effect the overall smoothness of the phone?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Files left on the SD card wont effect performance of the operating system. It may effect the seek speed of your SD card slightly, resulting in slower file opening but not in a way that would be sufficient to cause the problem you are trying to describe.
SD Maid is the only app I have seen anywhere like this. Wouldn't mind finding a free simple app for this function of getting rid of folders from uninstalled apps too.

It's not a major flow in the uninstall process. It's a major flow in Android developers. Android SDK is perfectly capable of removing app specific data from SD card (/sdcard/Android/data/xyz folder) if app is uninstalled. Developers don't use it, or don't know that it exists, and create the folders as they see fit.

This is the answer. Android OS will allow an app developer to do practically anything, barring allowing its own SU request.

You may have spotted a niche in the market. How are your coding skills?

Have no coding skills. Was hoping someone can cook up something like that. How about you?

It's not an easy task to do since there is no deterministic way to know which folder belongs to which app. Only fuzzy matching which is not 100% correct and can be dangerous, or have a list of apps and their folders inside the app which is cumbersome to keep uptodate and would increase the size of the app.
Yeah. Right now viewing my SD card through file manager gives me headaches.

Creating App Folders

Is there a way to organize the apps in folders either on the home screen or in the App screen? Thank you.
I use an app called Folder Organizer
Sent from Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Simi Folder is the best app organizer imo. Try that.

Werd, Folder Organizer 4 life
+1 for Folder Organizer.
Folder organizer is a very good app! Thanks! Now I have so many PDF magazines, but all of them have the same PDF properties and when I try to import them to Aldiko I get a message that I have already imported them in the bookshelf. Any idea about a PDF property editor app? I have good PDF viewers, but I would prefer to have them visible on a shelf.
Thanks again!

Just to clarify the above poster, get a file browser app if you already don't have one installed (I use EsFileExplorer).
1. Navigate to the folder where you have all your audiobooks stored
2. Tap the menu button > New > File
3. Rename the file ".nomedia" (no quotes)
You don't need to put anything in the file and now all the files in that folder will not show up in your gallery.
Thanks u guys rock!

[Q] Screen mirroring without using an app? Or phone setting?

A couple days ago I shattered the screen on my s4, as well as the touchscreen, so it's useless. There are some pictures on there I need to recover but I can't get to them because they were hidden (no, not what you think lol). I cant download any apps to my phone nor enable the screen mirroring setting so I was wondering if there any way to find them in the filing system via my laptop or a program I can download to emulate my phone on my laptop. Thanks in advance.
(Tried searching for a .hide folder, n0 results.)
Bump.

why not use an USB? to get your pictures out of your phone?
Perhaps my post wasn't clear. On the Galaxy s4 you have the option to "hide" pictures, which puts them, for all intents and purposes, in a second, hidden gallery. This moves them to a .hide folder somewhere in the file system. I've tried to find them via USB but I cannot find the .hide folder.

Sounds like your best option is the order a new screen & LCD online and replace them.
I hope not. I really don't want to pay a hundred plus dollars seeing as I've already replaced the phone. There's got to be a way to do it.

Quick Google search got me here http://inside-galaxy.blogspot.com/2014/05/samsung-galaxy-s4-how-to-fix-cant-find_30.html?m=1
Says there should be a '.hide' folder in the internal storage, then for some reason an 'island' folder where the images are (with a warning that 'island' may be different for you).
