Market Workaround - Acer Iconia A500

I noticed I got the little popup window that basically says you're SoL when I tried to install Kindle via the market the other day. If instead of clicking OK, you click the tablet's back button, it leaves you on that apps page and you can install the app anyway.

Cannot download in Market after rooting?

I just rooted a MT3G Fender and now I cannot download in the Market. Market loads, lets me search, I can tap the app, tap install, it says, "Starting Download" but it just stays on that. Anyone have any ideas?

I had same problem today with mytouch i think its the market
I occasionally have that problem with the market, do you use a task manager app? It might be stopping your market app from running every now and then. Try redownloading the app you're trying to get, but make sure you stay on a screen where you can see its progress.

Peggle @ Amazon Appstore

It's all over XDA but not here in our Iconia area yet. So I thought that I would post it here. If you try to get the app from the A500 it will give you an incompatible error. What you have to do is goto your pc and get the app from the Amazon Appstore then goto your "My Apps" in the Amazon app on your tablet. Find the app and click install. It may give you the error a few times but eventually it will download and install. Just keep trying.
At least it worked for me. Hope you guys have as much luck.
Actually what I did is this, I have a Android Phone which also has the Amazon App store installed with my same amazon account login (Plant's VS Zombies on both devices = WIN! ) So I installed it on my phone first, then on the tablet I hit menu and navigated to my apps, and then tapped install from my list of all apps and it downloaded and installed and WORKS without a hitch. I don't quite understand why this game was said to not work for tablets when it seems just as tablet friendly than Plants VS Zombies. They both don't multitask well as they always need to load back up the minute you do something else, even if its tapping on a notification in the bar. Even if you don't navigate to what the notification was showing you, the game loads back up. Ah well, hopefully they will continue to make these more Android friendly.

Your observation about the PlayStore has been made by digixmax recently. I don't have a solution for that one. I still get a lot of (sometimes useless) apps on a search. You can use a computer to access the Store and have the app sent to your device.
I can confirm that both the Amazon App Store and the Kindle app are broken. You can still read local content with the Kindle app.
You can also get apps from direct-download sources and side load them.

It's remotely possible someone may tinker with the apps but unlikely. You might as well remove the Amazon App Store. If you have local .mobile content the Kindle app could still be useful.
Edit: Could you try something with Search Market? I did a search on "Kindle" and got 250 hits today. Use the menu "button" to access Settings and see if your app filter is too restrictive. I have mine set for all apps, but that does tend to give a lot of junk after the initial near hits. Maybe that's why people are getting so few hits?

Yes. When you start Search Market you get a keyboard and a blank search field. The menu button does nothing there. Directly to the left of the search field is a "button" that takes you to a more typical Market screen where, among other things you can look at "My Apps" for your NST. It's on this screen that the menu button wiil bring up Settings.
I don't know that I ever changed the restrictions on what kinds of apps to display but it occurred to me recently that this might be the issue you and others have been seeing. It's worth a shot, anyway.

When I do this, what I get (at the screen bottom) are "Search", "Downloads", and "Help", but no "Settings".
I am using the SearchMarket version you attached to your post here, so perhaps this behavior disparity has to do with my NST running on 1.2.1 as opposed to 1.1.2?

I have always run FW 1.21.
This whole thing just gets curiouser. I went back for a closer look and that "button" I mentioned actually calls the Market app (AFAICS) and it's there that I get a "settings" option along with the others you mention. There is a filter in the settings for what kinds of apps to display but I don't know to what extent the apps interact (if at all), and in any case, changing the filter setting seemed to have no effect. I still got many, many results from a search using Search Market.
So I went back to the original GApps post to see if the package had been updated since I did my install. Certainly the file name is the same and the size seems to be the same. There is some talk there about changing the way you sign into the Market, etc., but it's not clear to me when that changed and I rooted my NST with NookManager so long ago (or so it seems to me) that I just can't remember. I do still have the original zip of the Gapps Attack file, FWIW.
My "Market" app is 4.03 MB on the NST but there's no obvious version number anywhere I can see. However replacing that one seems risky since the whole sign-in thing with Google is so tricky.
I'm stumped. As clunky as the Search Market app is, it has been useful to me because it only displays apps that have the potential to run under Android 2.1. I went through many, many apps when I was looking for a sound recording app that would work well and create mp3 files. Using Search Market shortened what was already a tedious process.

tracker.tpc.re floating ad?

So,
Yesterday I got this banner ad towards the bottom of the screen. It has an "opt out" tab at the bottom right. You click on this and it loads a web page that prompts you to install an app, use it then delete the app. Obviously didn't download the app.
Anyone else having this? Here's a pic.
This will be coming from an app you have installed. Check the apps you recently installed, it will be one of them.
Yeah, problem is I've been quite busy installing lately!
I've installed adguard and I think it may have worked. Ad popped up, but not filled in, then disappeared.
Score!
Try installing AirPush Detector. This can uually detect which apps are pushing out ads.
Well, airpush stops halfway through. Sent a report log to the developer. Maybe they can figure out.
Try Addons Detector. This also helps to find apps that are pushing ads.
Just press scan. After the scan, select 'Addons' and choose "Push Notifications" from the drop down (though I believe it is selected by dault)
Thank you. I've never had this problem, so I've never looked into these types of apps.
solved on my wife's samsung galaxy A5 2016
i clicked on one of the ads and a web page for the advertiser opened in a built-in in-app browser. i then pressed the application switcher button and it showed that the page had opened in an app called file manager.
i uninstalled file manager and then wiped application cache (turn phone off; then turn on by holding in power button + home button + volume up, when phone vibrates release power key but keep volume up and home key depressed).
note that adds ons detector nor airpush detector yielded positive results.
note that my wife is fairly (she says 99% sure) she did not install the file manager app - it most likely updated (theory). we both suspect the app came pre-installed on the phone. i was using the file manager app to browse her files and it seemed fairly legit as an app - it worked as one expects a file manager app to work.
note her phone is not rooted.
solved

I had the same problem...... tried everything but didn't get any results. I uninstalled "Bluetooth app sender" and everything was back to normal. No more floating ads.

Unable to install Google Account and Google Play Store on new Fire 10HD(2017)

Device: Fire HD10(2017)
OS: Fire OS 5.6.0.0
I followed instructions from a youtube video to and am not able to install Google account manager and Google Play Store, 'Install' button gray. I was able to get Google Services and Google Play services installed. Found this thread: [HOW-TO] Install Google Play Store (Fire OS 5.X) (No Root/PC/ADB) and thinking I installed out of order, video had order of 'Services Framework, 'Play Servcies', 'Account Manager' and 'Play Store'. I'm thinking I installed in wrong order OR fire os 5.6 is stopping the install of account manager and play store.
Any ideas?
you can install as in order or as you did with the code. my problem is the same as yours. after the update to the 5.6 the install is gray out. So the solution i found is to set the BLUE SHADE on and then step by step do the following:
download the file and click open then the INSTALL still gray out. DUN CLOSE the window.
Just download other such as play services or account manager n repeat the same click open n leave it.
then you can switch between the screen where there is INSTALL gray out. for some reason after switching back n forth you can click on INSTALL.
Hope that help
An even easier work around is to just use to power button to put the tablet to sleep then wake it and unlock, the install button will become active.

Why the hell is Amazon doing this with that latest update? I know, they want their customers to be stuck on the Amazon platform, but still... It really sucks to be forced to search tricks in order to be able to install apks... I'm planning to buy a Fire HD 10 because I know some tricks allow the installation of the Play Store. If it really becomes impossible, I won't buy...

I followed these steps and got the software installed.... too bad I didn't think it through and just put the tablet to sleep. But either way, thanks for your help!
Can anyone check and see if these methods still work? Because I just tried and I can't seem to get it done.
Guys hello,
I am trying to follow these steps to install google on the child's profile of my fire 8 hd 2017.
But when i launch the apk the install is greyed out.
If hit the sleep button, when it wakes up i get the kids main interface and as it has no square button, i can not choose the window i had open before the sleep button.
Am i doing something wrong?
Thanks for any help you can provide
Iam

I just got the HD 10 on Black Friday and can not install the google stuff no way, no how. I've tried all of the published tricks and still have grayed out buttons. Aholes! Mine is going back in the box. It is a shame because it looks to be a nice tablet.
So using the square window button (like you're going to switch to a new app) works like a charm to get the install button to where is not greyed out but you have to scroll all the way down on the permissions/install page first.
But has anyone figured out how to get it to work in the freetime/child profile yet? Still can't find a way to get it to stop being greyed out. The power button/sleep then unlock does not appear to work for this.

Having the same problem as this. Any luck with a workaround?
works for me as of Dec 1st 2017
I had the same problem with the install button not responding/being greyed out after initially turning on the device and trying to install the apks. I just powered the device down and back up and downloaded the apk again, then scrolled all the way down to the point where the next button turns into the install button, then hit the install button and it worked fine.
Grey install issue solved
Go to settings, apps & games, on collect app ussage data turn it off. Install button should be enabled.
