How to "BREAK" a T-Mobile-Branded HTC HD2 - GERMAN TMO - HD2 General

Hi fellows,
I searched a while but could not find a solution for my problem...
I am using a HTC HD2 branded and "locked" by T-Mobile Germany.
Using my S/N I can not download original HTC-ROMs.
So my only option is using TMO-Roms from their website... :-/
I want to install NAND-Version of Android because WinMo is so embarassing. Especially the "Marketplace" is really NOT good... -.-
I tried to follow the manuals on your pages, but I can not find a hint for my problem...
Do I have to "break" anything to get any other Rom running?
I found sth. called "GoldCard" but... oh my god... Very complicated!
I hope you guys can help me.
It would be awesome.
Thanks a lot!

Hspl4, choose 2.08.hspl
can now flash anything, but use USB, not SD.
you will want to change radio first as things needed for android require high version radios. Go for 2.15.50.x radio.
If your current winmo rom is version 3.14 you wont need to change radio.

I've the same phone:
HD2 HTC with german t-mobile software, but it is not branded on the cover.
Also it says it has 512mb of rom and 448 of ram
SO I think it should be the EU HTC, and i should use rom and guides for the EU version
Can someone pleas confirm me it is the european version?
I don't want to brick my phone the first time i change the rom ahhaah

search the hd2 nand android forums and there should be a sticky for it

ROM Upgrade for HTC HD2 Vodafone Branding

Hello everybody,
I have bought my new HTC HD2 from Vodafone Germany. I live in Germany and ,as all windows devices, my HTC is localized to Germany and the windows mobile 6.5 comes with the German language and I wanted to change it to English. I tried to download the ROM upgrade to "English-Arabic support" from HTC website but when I put the serial number of my device it says that this version is not suitable for your device and I have found another version "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe" and when I tried to install it I got an error says "INVALID Vendor ID" or something like this.
Finally I have bought a 3ed party software just to be enabled to read arabic but the language is still German
So please if anybody knows how to solve this problem and help me I will be thankful.
Best Regards,
Amer
install hspl then instal whichever run you like via usb.
i had the same probs here with vodaphone uk...
as above, install hspl, the sticky of this can be found in the leo roms section of this site and it will guide you, but the installation process is really straight forward.. then you are able to install any of the ROMS, be they official OR custom cooked roms..
My personal favourite is the ENERGY series of roms.. but have a good look about, im sure you will find many that offer the practicality and versatility your after!

Hi Ell_H,
Thank you very much for your reply and I have read about HSPL and it sounds amazing tool but another question about restoring the old system. How can I get the original ROM and restore the system to its old state after changing it?
Thanks in advanced.

You need to find the original rom for your phone, both region AND provider(if you were getting invalid serial on teh htc website then your phone is provider locked, so for example you would need to look for the german t mobile rom, if you got your phone from t mobile germany)
Once you have your original rom you can then use sd card method to remove hspl and restore to factory rom. You can only do this with your original shipped rom.
Problem upgradind German Vodafone ROM
Hi,
I have the same problem upgrading the Vodafone ROM. I would like to load the generic ROM or any other ROM that works with Vodafone. It can be English as well. If I try to load the generic through HTC site it checks the SN and doesn't allow the ROM upgrade.
What to do to load another up to date ROM without running into the same issue as Amer? There are so many ROM version out there and I don't want to risk trying the wrong ROM.
Thanks for help!

You need to obtain the rom from vodafone, or use HSPL / Gold Card to flash another ROM.
Thx for answer. I read about HSPL and will figure that out. I read there are requirements concerning the radio. My radio is 2.04.50.22_2 and ssems pretty old. Does someone know where to find the best guide how to do the HSPL install?
There are many ROMS out there and I want to make sure I will not run into trouble using it with Vada. What ROM to take is the question?
Danke!

HTC Hd2 from HK

Good morning,
I'm here in HK for a long period and I'd like to buy a HTC HD2 here that is cheaper than in Italy.
My only concern is that if I can flash it without problem in order to use a new cooked ROM in italian .
What does it mean WWE ? I read WWE in some ROM but I don't known what it means
Thanks
Hi friend, WWE stands for world wide English....I also bought my HD2 from Hongkong, and the original ROM installed is also the WWE version, means everything is in English, not in Hongkong's native language...Flashing to another ROM is not a problem, just make sure you follow the procedure correctly (HSPL, etc..etc...)
Thanks...but can you tell me about correct procedure to flash ? I want to avoid any kind of serious problem
all in the stickies at the top of this forum, with videos
OK thanks...but the right steps are : flash with new spl or hpsl and then fals new rom (if I want to use Artemis rom wich SPL/HSPL flash have I to use ?
Thanks
Soon, I would be in Uk too. Which is the carrier who offers the mobile at a lower price -and which is the lower price-??Many thanks!!

How to install the new 1.66 ROM. a lot of help needed. Please.................

Hi guys,
Need some step by step help.
I believe the HD2 is locked to the O2 in the UK and it is still have the very old 1.48 rom and I would like to upgrade to the latest 1.66 but when I try to download the rom from the HTC site it said the rom is not for my phone after I enter my Serial Number.
So, any one know which SN i need in order to download the 1.66 rom in English WWE? Also, what do I need to install the rom with my O2 locked HD2? I am sure even if I have the rom the upgrade won't let me because it is locked to O2 UK. Please help!
All I want is to make my HD2 better (than the stupid Iphone)

I've already tried and downloaded it using a different serial. The updater then prevents you from flashing as it checks the serial prior to flashing.
Your best bet is to flash using a ROM in the ROM forum section.
mh....changing rom isnt very difficult..
but: i would only do, if really needed.
i'm also using 1.48 and i don't wanna change since an official rom supports landscape manila.
but if you want, do this:
choose the right S/N here and download your ROM.
when you've got it, you need to install HSPL first.
all about HSPL is written in this thread.
after installing hspl successfully, you can run the RUU.exe, which you downloaded from htc.com .
but think about it carefully...it could void your warranty
but all about that in hspl thread.
good luck.
DN41
Instal HSPL2 from the HSPL/HSPL2 thread in rom development. (It is fully reversable, your warranty is only temporarily void)
Then go to the Leo Official Roms thread in rom development, first post, first link, brings up a list of folder
1.42
1.48
1.66
etc etc
Look in the 1.66 folder for one with 'HTC' and 'WWE' in the title (world wide english and HTC unbranded)
Download it, and with your phone connected to usb, run the exe you downloaded.
THis WILL of course reset your phone completely, so be sure and back up your data first.
guys I didn't need HSPL when I updated. I was using the stock ROM, then I downloaded the official 1.66 ROM from this forum (coz my serial gave an invalid error on HTC website). I just connected with USB and ran activesync/windows mobile device manager and ran the .exe file of the update.
so your leo wasn't "branded".
where did you buy it?
DN41
oh yer of course, how n00b of me to forget that. Yer mine was bought online from handtec (official reseller).
EDIT: Sry kingdanny, just ignore my post. You may get confused otherwise.

[Q] Is it safe to flash simlocked HD2?

I want to flash my HD2 but I am not sure if the simlock will cause any problems. I did some searching but i only find discussions about unlock your phone with a flash.
(Before somebody asks, I know, that a flash and a cooked rom will not unlock your phone.)
The most useful post i found is posted in the samsung forum: klick
It only refers to Galaxy S, but this might not apply for HTC HD2.
Could you tell me please: would cause a flash of simlock phones any problems (brick etc.)? I am referring to smartphones generally and my HD2 especially .
Thank you for your time and effort!
No problem at all, you can flash what you want.
Before flashing, it could be a good idea to check which stock ROM is on your device, in case you would have to go back for service issues. I don´t know what your HD2 from "3" comes with, I think I have seen in another thread that it is the HTC stock ROM - but with simlock, as you mention.
The only thing you might miss (don´t know if this applies to you) are sometimes some operator specific apps, or some pre-settings - especially for large operators which offer many different contract options.
But: At least basic settings for most operators in each country are existing in stock and custom ROMs. In the worst case, you´d have to make some settings manually.

Thank you for your answer. My HD2 comes with following software specifications:
OS-Version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82) / WM 6.5 Pro
Manila-Version: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM-Version: 1.66.407.1 (76641) GER
ROM-Date: 01/11/10
Radio-Version: 2.07.51.22_2
Protocoll-Version: 15.32.50.07U
The HTC download should be _HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_HTC_GER_1.66.407.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
As far as I know this is the official stock rom and not branded. In my opinion there should not be any specific apps or pre-settings.
My phone is only simlock but not branded.
Yes, the ROM you mention is exactly the one you should/could flash in case you would have to send your HD2 to a service center.
I myself keep exactly this ROM as a copy on my harddisk... you never know.
Happy flashing then!
.51 ratio, no good to flash. better get a .50

I am sorry but I do not know what you mean with your post. What is . 51 ratio? Are you referring to the radion-version, which is instalt on my phone?
If yes, I have already flashed the lastest radio-rom on my phone. As far as I can remeber it's version is 2. 15.

Htc hd2 to warranty

Hi there, need you guys to confirm me something: i had Android on my Htc HD2 but i need to send it to warranty. I've installed Windows mobile from HTC site (didnt ask for serial number is it normal?), put SPL 3.03.0000 and radio 2.15.50.14 Do i need anything else? Just need confirmations so i can send it today
After reverting back to Stock - nope. Stock SPL, stock ROM. Which carrier do you use? Use the ROM and SPL that comes from that carrier
I have the normal HD2 (not the T-Mobile version). I didn't understand pretty well your answer. So what i have to do different from what it is now so it can go to warranty?

So the main thing is: Different carriers use different ROM versions. For example there might be different Sense versions. If you can find out with which Sense version your HD2 was shipped that'd be better - I think
