Mytouch 4g slide and G2 owners - G2 and Desire Z General

So, who here will consider jumping ship when the mt4g slider comes out? Screen specs I think are the same as the g2, but its dual core 1.2ghz, 768ram, 8mp cam are the biggest changes I can remember off the top of my head.
I would consider the change if the battery is bigger, and the slide keyboard is stronger than the G2. What about you?
Nonsense!

Maybe if it has decent design. And not too many qc issues like mytouch 4g.
And if I have the money of course..

I sure aint the g2 is one of the first phones i ever had that was so well rounded. Gonna stick with this one for awhile cause the chances i will like every aspect of another phone are slim.

If performance is anything like the G2x then yes. That thing is soo insanely fast.
I would like a bigger screen though. So we'll see when its anounced.

Think I'm gonna trade for the sensation. That is and amazing piece of hardware.

It's got to have a hardware keyboard for me though. While the MT4GS is tempting, I'd rather not pay full price for one of these phones; I'll just wait til October for the 1 year upgrade and see what's available then personally.

I'm going to wait a while also. the g2 is a very nice phone, goood camera, excellent radios. if and when LTE services come to tmobile, I may upgrade. I will not buy into the 4G marketing fluff.

If it looked like the G2 had WiMax and a FFC, I'd sell my EVO and pay the difference. As is I'd only consider it if I was up for a upgrade.

That is debatable, personally I think ill pass on this one.

It improves its biggest weaknesses - its GPU, its 3-4x better. CPU is also better but I don't think you'd notice it, maybe a little lower power consumption. Besides that, no.

AFAIK no official specs have been released but it's rumored to have a 800MHz CPU, which could be just as fast as the EVO if it is a newer version with a better GPU like people are thinking. It has been reported that it has a larger battery which, combined with a more power efficient processor, should improve battery life quite a bit. It has a smaller screen, I've seen separate reports stating 3.8" and 3.9". And it has a physical keyboard. As for the aesthetics, it has a chrome rim around the front of the phone, similar to the Touch Pro, which I don't really care for. Also, I believe, it is lacking a front camera, not that I use mine much anyway. From everything I've read, I can't really say that it's better or worse, just different.

I had looked into the shift and decided the Evo was the right upgrade for me - coming from the Hero. I'm not a fan of keyboards and love the larger screen on the Evo.
How long do you think it will take to implement 4G in the hacked roms for this phone? Or the Epic for that matter?

why would you want a nexus s 4g?

i dont understand why people would want to switch to the nexus s 4g from the evo. It may be a little more up to date but its just AOSP. Evo can be rooted to AOSP too and many other types. I went over to the nexus s forum for t-mobile and all it is is aosp roms and it looks boring. I know it has a very nice screen and i like keeping up with the latest phones but i feel like thats not a big enough reason to switch, i see everyone drooling over this thing and i dont know why
Im board with the EVO
They convinced themselves it's better than a evo3d. And it's smaller so it fits in their purses/manbags better
I got two upgrades so I'm getting both, and yea it'll fit perfectly in my "European shoulder bag".

We don't know if it is or not. Shouldn't make assumptions.
only reason id get 1 is cause the updates come straight from google.
Look on the bright side, it'll get me out of the evo forums.
1. Why do you care so much?
2. The Nexus S has had a fully working 2.3 ROM since December. CM7 is still not as stable, and just recently ironed out some major basic bugs. This will be the case for pretty much every major Android release.

I was going to get one, but I can't justify the money for a marginal upgrade. I'll wait for at least the EVO 3D before I decide. I'm content with the EVO until then.

The reason I would like a Nexus S 4g is because it's AOSP and it gets updates straight from google. I love my Evo 4g but I'd like fully working AOSP. No waiting for updates from a manufacturer. That is worth it in my view.

Attention those thinking about HTC SENSATION - dont do it!

So I got the sesnation yesterday for 24 hours on TMOB. Took it back today. What a dissapointment.
Once again my Atrix has trumped a device IMHO. First the Inspire then the SGS2 and now the Sensation
. I always thought I preferred Sense but after Atrix plus launcherPro, Sense feels so heavy! PLUS Atrix runs video so much more smoothly than the sensation. Also sound on the sensation was really low, especially the spealerphone. Whites are better and I think images clearer and brighter on the Atrix. Camera is marginally better on Sensation. Battery much worse on Sensation. GPS about the same. Internal memory is worse with same apps on Sensation. I don't know why. Screen size difference is marginal.
Forget what quadrant says, when I ran the same apps on both the load up time was practically the same.
I has the SGS2 for a couple of weeks and I think that's better than the Sensation but I think the Atrix, with its HDMI out, and peripherals (hacked!) Beats them both.
This device is a workhorse. It can take everything I have thrown at it.
In glad I stuck with the Atrix.

oh wow.. thanks for this info. this is very sad. yeah i dont really use hdmi out but its there.. haha. i love my camera though ;D and with the pentile display on the atrix we have alot more advantages. i honestly dont care about the pixelation on the notrification bar and SOME icons. it DOESNT happen on normal pictures. so.. i am kinda glad i stuck with the atrix, think of our atrix with unlocked bootloader and custom ROMs. this device would own all out there (besides camera wise). and looks. lol, sensation looks amazazaaaaaing.

I love my x10 as well. Hell, i still use it when I go places where I know my phone has a greater chance to be damaged, like when I'm golfing or going to the beach. But there's no way that it's better than the Atrix or Sensation. Even with a custom rom, it's still massively slower compared to the newer generation of phones.

Vibrant to MT4G Worth It????

I currently have a sanding vibrant and was looking to pick up a mytouch however I wanted to ask you guys first to see if it was worth it. I've read through the general and q&a sections and have seen posts about bad screens and bad chips which made me doubt getting it. So yea what do you guys think should I get it or not
P.S. the sensation is out of the question right now as I don't have the money to buy it and need a phone to replace my vibrant
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yes, it is deff worth it! The things about the bad screen and chips were only for the first batch of mytouch's that were made, so I doubt u will get a bad screen at this time. But it is a great phone, and once again, totally worth it! Especially if u plan to root it

Well just make sure you have a good one, and if you do then this is a wonderful phone. Greatly underrated IMO.
But of course there is a "but." And that's the quality control, which sucks ass. That's why you see so many threads regarding bad screens, bad eMMC chips, off centered FFC, creaks at buttons light leakage you name it.
But like I said, if you find that good one then this is an awesome phone.

This isn't true I know people who recently got theirs and have the bad screen and chip,i got mines and may and have a good screen, but bad chip...Htc is using both chips still. Even replacement phones can have either once.if you ask me I feel you should save your money for something more recent instead, wait for next year or at least till ice cream sandwich is released, you wans get the best for your money right? The vibrant is very good and should hold you off for something better, I like my mt4g, but it's a minir upgrade for you. Both phones are pretty equal in specs, some downgrades and upgrades...mytouch has the dragon why sammy has the hummingbird, dragon has lower power, but sammy has the power vr 540 or 535 thats better for 3d apps. And it has more internal space, but crappy camera and bad plastic. Mytouch has 4g and vibrant 3g I belive, so the choice is up to you.

I don't think that's necessarily true. I bought mine a week after launch and I got a good screen and good eMMC, and there have been a lot of people who recently purchased it new from T-Mobile who are still reporting bad components. It seems to be related more to the country of manufacture (China vs Taiwan I think it was).
I bought mine last Nov in FL, good screen and chip. My brother bought his in March in NY Good screen and chip. His GF got hers in NY in April, again good screen and chip. She did need a replacement shipped from somewhere again good screen and chip. So it really is luck of the draw. I suddenly feel like playing lotto.
Well Ill probably get one this week but ill definitely be on the lookout for bad chips and screen

They might, or they might not.
If you look at the One X +, the only feature present on that device over the One X is 64gb of ram.
Lets say that they Make a One + - what could they do? Bump it to a Snapdragon 800? Sure that would be impressive, however the jump from 600 to 800 is about a 35% boost, whereas from S4pro to 600 its a 40% bump.
So, is that extra 35% really worth it, when you can wait another few months and get their latest flagship which will probably be a 70% increase over 600?
As far as I'm concerned, rather then waiting for "+" versions, it is wiser to purchase initial releases.

I think you have a typo there 64gb RAM then you got a deal! Also 800 snapdragon not only boosts the performance by 40% it also has a better GPU, better architecture, better power management, implemented ad on WIFI so it's now a/ac/ad/b/g/n and has LTE technology which has a maximum of 150mbit speed.
HTC always tends to refresh their flagships at around October-November.
Desire -> Desire HD
Sensation - Sensation.. XE? XL? I got em confused...
One X -> One X+
I think it will be the same this year.
That said, for me, buying the One is an easy decision. As usual, there are a few things I dislike that might or might not be fixed for the refresh, but isn't that always the case? I definitely don't imagine anything on the horizon beating it in terms of industrial design and sheer engineering chops.
Is it worth it? Yeah why not, just get another phone when a newer one comes out. Who wouldn't have $700 to buy a phone every month?

I wish my one x had better louder speakers and I am impressed with the Ones camera.
I love the design and the extra capacity. (16gb is not enough for me). Will definitely opt for the 64gb variant if I do get one.
With that said, I'm not going to jump the gun right away.
Must be patient... Must resist the temptation to get it day 1 of release.

This question allways comes up when a new phone comes out. But only you can answer that. The great thing about Android is the wide varieties in phones, this is great because we all prefer something else.
I got a one S and will upgrade as soon as I can. Allways been a fan of the aluminium body's, love the oneS except it's screen. So this is the perfect phone for me.
There will always come a faster and better phone. But I'm sure this device is quite future proof. Alot More so than the Sony Z. The only thing that can kick the One of this throne now is the GS4, but I really really doubt it.

If not i'll just buy the phone and get a sim only, will still be cheaper in the long run than a 24month contract. That way I wont be stuck with the same contract for 2 years..
