New GTalk - Desire Themes and Apps

Gtalk with Voice calling and Video chat is out for Nexus S....Any chance of seeing it on Desire??

It's part of a new build of gingerbread and it's already been released for AOSP. Dev's are probably working on it now. Oxygen's dev, AdamG says to expect his updated ROM soon...though I don't know how to video chatting would work without a front-facing camera.

Video chat is trouble some. I've tried it via fringe. It uses the back camera hence u need to stand in front of mirror lolzz. Trust me that's wat I did.

Its pretty awesome that video calling even works

Yup it works flawless. Try it out with fring

InsertCoin v15 have the new GTalk. I find a problem - other people can't call me, only I can. I think this is because Android version is 2.3.3 and probably there are some changes in Android 2.3.4 to integrate voice and video chat.

Was having a play around with it last night and it works really well. Even better it works over mobile networks as well.

Get bloo from here. The one on the market is outdated. This one is a leaked beta which works just fine and includes chat as well
Edit: Yes, you can view the notifications in the app.

For me it has, qik is a piece of ish, on all the cm7's I've had nothing but bad luck it might not be gingerbread compatible yet(it only worked on sense for me). Try tango its better and it just works. This is the only video chat app that I use. I've heard success with the yahoo video chat but never tried it.

Check out this thread....you'll be happy to know that it no longer FCs on CM7 or any gingerbread rom for that matter!
The Front-Facing Camera is pretty much broken for everything except the stock camera app in CM 7.0.

Tango is working.
I was doing a tango chat with my friend last night on CM7. worked fine.

I was video chatting on QIK last night with my cousin and the front facing camera works just fine. I don't know if you've try CM7 but I wouldn't go on an issue that was reported in mid February....Cyanogen updates regularly and although there's bugs still to be fix, is way better then the sense roms running around here.....just my personal opinion!
Within the last 2 days someone posted a compatable version for CM7.
Here you go from my dropbox.

Doesn't work. Once you install and run on an Evo, it forces an update to the Qik version from the market and that one is broken (FFC sends upside-down video).

whats the best video chat app qik, tango, fring or oovoo

So after using Cyanogen 6 & 7 here's a little review on what video chat apps work on froyo CM6 and Gingerbread CM7. I figured this would save some of you some time
Qik - works great on CM6 but it force closes on CM7. Video quality is good and audio is ok good enough to do the job
Tango - works great on CM7 with a mod where you can use front and back cameras. But on CM6 it only detects the back camera. Video quality is good but audio not so good
Fring - works on CM7 with out any mods but the video and audio quality is not so good. On CM6 it only detects the back camera.
Oovoo - is the new kid on the block working great both audio and video on CM6. I didn't test it on CM7 so if someone does let me know this app and Qik is the reason why I went back to CM6 from CM7.
I've tried them all too but unfortunately the battery drain from the apps is really poor... I just uninstalled and will reinstall when a friend wants to video chat.

Battery life on cm6 is really good even with the video chat apps
Tango is still upside down for me on FFC using CM7. Changing manufacturer to Samsung in build.prop didn't fix it . Image is right side up using the back camera.
What about Yahoo? It's apparently the only one that works from phone to PC. Can anyone confirm on our devices?

I have used Qik and Tango and Tango has worked best for me.

Oovoo dose too I have tried with my girlfriend and it's of good quality. But I'm not sure if it works with any of the cm mods

bump..i would like to find out too since i video chat with my girlfriend who's on a computer..
where do u get the oovoo app? didnt see it in the market and the website says your device is not supported..
Tango works great for my girl and I using the older version. The updated version has us looking at each other upside down. So if anyone having that problem just revert back to the older version.
Qik I have not tried since I flashed cm. I heard its working on the latest nightly build but have not tried it. I never liked the quality when I used to use it on the stock rom anyways.
Yahoo video chat still gotta be the best though. Video and sound quality are best. Better than qik and tango. And it does not work only from pc to device, it also works from device to device.

the Gingerbread ROMs are the only ones with goofy FFC working with Applications. All FroYo based ROMs should work fairly well. The app developers have no upped their apps to work with Ext4 style ROMs. It has nothing to do with the developers of the ROMs, but has everything to do with the App Developers.

Yes you're right. Is my bad I should've specified that. I meant in general yahoo is best when it comes to video calling. But is the reason I use tango now, because nothing else works properly.

Help!! Video Calling using Yahoo Messenger

I'm from Asia and we uses yahoo messenger here a lot. I received this phone locked to tmo with the default rom. All is working fine with the preinstalled YM app as far as video calling is concern.
Here's the problem, after upgrading the rom to cm's/royal's/etc.... I noticed that when I use the Yahoo Messenger's video calling feature it always uses the main camera. Voice calling is working fine but can't find a way on how I can use the front camera during the call.
Question: is the a way/tweak on how to fix this problem? or perhaps an alternative app that will allow me to sign in to my yahoo messengers account with video calling feature. Thanks a lot!!!! This phone rocks!!!

DITTO... I have the same question... and I'm using CM7 7.0.2 and have the same problem. Since it is the only way to call to my moms pc I need to know how to fix this.
No fix if you are using 2.3 ROMs..
choose a 2.2 ROM, Royal Glacier works fine..
note that the new google talk will be implementing voice/video chat..this will solve the issue if you want to stay on 2.3 ROMs..

[Q] OOVOO without Device Check?

OOVOO is a very popular video chatting service. The only problem is that on android, they don't keep the app's device check updated with the latest phones. I just bought a Sensation 4g and it isn't compatible. At the same time, it will say the same thing on my Mytouch 4g when I switch to certain roms other than stock. The Mytouch 4g is a supported phone by the way. This is why I believe that if someone can remove the device check, it will work on a lot more phones. Is someone able to do this?
Download the app outside of the Market, it'll work.
Can anyone post the apk of oovoo without device check I can't find it all
