[Q] HELP! Internet Explorer Mobile 6 won't reflow text anymore?! - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I don't understand why this is happening. I have one device running Windows Mobile 6.5.0 BONE STOCK with no manufacturer enhancements or modifications (HP Glisten) and the version of Internet Explorer Mobile 6 included on that device DOES reflow text to fit the page automatically whenever I zoom in or out. Great.
I have another device running WinMo 6.5.3 (Sony Ericsson Aspen - newer) and the version of IE Mobile included on it does NOT reflow text upon zooming in or out. Why would this be? Why would a newer, more recent edition of IE Mobile 6 not have a feature that an only slightly older version does include?
Does anyone know if there's a registry setting or something that can enable this feature in IE Mobile 6? I just can't understand why it wouldn't do it when the Glisten does, and it's running the older WM 6.5.
Can anyone help? Please..?

What's the Difference Between Opera Mini and Mobile?

I see that Mini is free and Mobile isn't...and Mini seems to have iPhone browser-type capabilities (well, at least the new beta)...
So why shouldn't I just get Mini? Am I missing something? Please help, anyone.
Thanks.
And if you have a link to the .cab files, please post 'em.
Opera mini is light version
Con:
Can't download files
Pro:
Fast browsing.Ie all files are processed at server and transferferd mobile version page(light weight) to mobile.
Opera mobile.
Opposite to above.
PS:I have listed major diffrence.there are more differences than listed above. I don't want want make porffesional documnet on this
You shouldn't forget:
Opera Mini is a JAVA application, while Opera Mobile is not.
I used Opera Mini first, and it just looked terrible on my HTC S620, so I switched to Opera Mobile, which is much better.
But you can and probably should try both and then decide.
an java apps are generaly slower then real wm apps
non of them support skinning though which is a shame
because i dont care much for the opera icons

Windows Mobile 6.1.4 - new Internet Explorer
Windows Mobile 6.5 - new UI for finger-based navigation and new looks, Skymarket (Windows Mobile application store)
Windows Mobile 7 - multitouch, Zune software integrated
Damn, 6.5 that is sweet, so when is this out?
nicee, finally a new look. I hope it will get released soon!
please use the search function before posting, this information is already out and has several threads on xda
ahh this is not Wm6.5 it is 6.1 AKU 1.4 or 6.1.4 like MS calls it, the emulator image build is 20757.1.4.0 so there are a lot newer builds than this on the site

New PIE

Anyone looking into pulling the new PIE out of the new WM 6.1 emulator images that were just released as well as getting the Messenger files out of it? I miss having actual Live Messenger after getting the most current Live for Mobile version.

what do you mean windows messanger.. ? you can download the newest version from microsoft at all times.
the pie sucks and is not anything to want.
the only difference it has is java 7.5 support in desktop mode. Its slow. and microsoft is gay about it and says a phone like the diamond and touch pro isnt good enough for this browser. so **** it. use opera mobile 8.65 opera mini or skyfire over ie.
IE is old and gay. untill PIE7 or PIE 6.5 comes out .. theres no need for it.

you cannot download the mobile version of messenger, and all current versions of live for mobile don't include it.

Pinch-to-zoom in Internet Explorer

Hi,
I saw a demo-unit of a HD Mini running Internet Explorer with real pinch to zoom:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LamsRF53KS4#t=3m24s (just press play and it will bring you to the right fragment).
The HD Mini is running a 23101 Windows Mobile build (as can be seen at an earlier time in the video).
I was wondering if it's possible to get this on the HD2 with the current "building blocks"
What we have at this moment is a test rom of the Mini:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5800696&postcount=13093 (WM 6.5, build 216xx)
and some 2310x builds
I played with these building blocks a little but I can't find how it is activated. Don't even know if I have the right building blocks, because I don't know if this was already implemented on the mini test rom.
Anyway, i'm looking for some suggestions as to where to look for this kind of functionality on the above given building blocks.
I'm interested too !
Running Miri Extralight, "pinch to zoom" is the only missing component in IE for me...
I have never tried as I don't use IE but have you tried adding it to the pinchtozoom whitelist in registry?

Yes, but that doesn't do the job. I even replaced the TouchGL driver, but that didn't work either. As you can see in the video IE is supporting native pinch to zoom and not a virtual desktop pinch to zoom. (There is definitely some reflowing of the text). I think we have to wait for a updated IE version.
There were pre-release ROM versions for the HD2 where it worked...

Opera Mini 5.1 Released

Found this out when going thru the HD2 Q&A sub-forum. Opera released OMini 5.1 the other day. Enjoy.
Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile is here!
The long-awaited Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Phone 6.5, Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 5, and Windows Mobile 2003 based handsets has finally arrived. We have worked days and nights to improve on every aspect of the browser and make it integrate even better with the Windows Mobile platform. Some highlights include default browser functionality and a completely rewritten IME solution that taps directly into the device's own input method. A big thanks to all our users on Windows Mobile who have waited so patiently for this release.
NEW FEATURES
- Ability to set Opera Mini as default browser on the device.
- Support for g-sensor screen rotation on HTC and Samsung devices.
- Support for predictive input if the device supports it natively.
- Improved page layout on high-resolution screens.
- Improved kinetic scrolling.
- Use HQVGA skin for devices with less than QVGA resolution.
- Installer is now signed with VeriSign so Opera Mini will be a trusted application on your handset.
- Alternative installer that works on Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC devices.
- Advanced configuration in registry for power-users (see here for more information).
BUG FIXES
- Multitap input is working on 'classic' keypad devices.
- Input is working on qwerty keypad devices by Samsung and Amoi.
- Keypad shortcuts working on more devices.
- Ability to download files to memory card.
- Clock in Opera Mini is correct in all time zones now.
- Spanish locale is correctly detected.
- URLs and downloaded files can be passed to other applications as a platform request.
- Many bug fixes in Opera Mini browser core for stability and rendering accuracy.
NOTES
- Opera Mini 5.1 will be installed in parallel with Opera Mini 5.0 beta if the latter is already installed on your device.
- Opera Mini 5.1 will not import existing user data from Opera Mini 5.0 beta. Please consider using Opera Link to bring over bookmarks and speed dials to the new version.
- When set as default browser, Opera Mini 5.1 will not be the default viewer application for html files or other web page related files that may exist locally on your device.

i have always used mini in mobile view but iirc when a page is zoomed out it'll auto zoom to wherever you tap on the page. i don't think there is pinch to zoom.

I like it because it's faster & I just like it a lot better. Give it a try & see how you like it.
can you tell a big difference between mini 5.1 and mobile 9.7
BSBtweaks has a tweak where you can enable pinch to zoom on just about any program.
