[Q] hd2 flex cable - HD2 General

Hello , my volume buttons have stopped working , i have opened it and seen that i need a new flex cable , my hd2 version is tmous 1024mb , on ebay i only have seen T8585 flex cable.
It will be good for my model? because i havent seen different flex for my model anywhere and i think it will be good. Just need to be sure. Sorry for my bad english

i think they use same cables but i'm not sure.just google it

Found nothing on google. Anyone can help with this. i think i will order it , because i cannot found flex for tmous.

Wait! They don't use the same flex cables, the Euro and Tmous versions have different motherboards, cases and flex cables! I work on them ALL THE TIME.

They USE THE SAME flexes!!! I have both Tmo and EU versions, all cables are compatible (bottom buttons, main flex cable, LCM), I've tested all of them. Yes, MoBo of TMo is a little bigger and wont fit in an EU housing, but all connectors are absolutely the same in both phones.

Anyone else please comment, because I need new flex for t-mobile version.
so flex is the same between 2 versions?
Second, anyone have any good tips on how to separate lcd and digitizer without breaking lcd?
because everytime I try to separate lcd from digitizer from touch pro2 they break!!
is the hd2 the same? glue together?

OMG! He doesn't believe me!
These cables have the same contacts and more of that, the same P/N: 50H10116-01M.
I changed one broken in T-mobile model with one from EU HD2 version and it works as needed, camera, BT, WIFI, all as with the original cable.
Other alternative is to solder broken connections if you have eagle eyes

Did you heated LCM to 60*C before separating them? And YES, in EU version digitizer and LCD also are sticked together with double-sided scotch-like adhesive which looses most of it's stickiness at 60-63*C and digitizer may be separated with thin plastic sheet, I use a half of credit card (they can be very easily separated in two thin sheets).

The connectors are the same but there are two different part numbers. I always replace with the correct one so I suppose maybe they are the same size. However many times there can be small changes involved the people are not aware of. A manufacturer I deal with on these has 2 different numbers and has strict writing of which one to use with which phone. So for me, it wasn't worth using a Euro flex on a Tmous HD2 when they are similar in price.

Can you give me a link where to buy usa hd2 flex cable?

You did not understand, I did not checked only connectors, I've installed in a TMo HD2 main flex from European version, works perfect, just as the original one. If You want, you can replace only "correct one" but I wrote in my post for those who can buy main flex only for EU version because of shipping limitations or for about 20$ less in price (I didn't found main flex for TMo less than 64$ and for EU version price is 42-43$).
Just for knowledge, It can be repaired if you are able to handle an soldering iron with micro-tip and have a 20x magnifying glass. It will loose it's shining look, of course, but who will see it without opening the phone

How fragile is the Flex cable for the bottom buttons? I've got a HD2 with a broken digitizer that I replaced but the bottom buttons don't work anymore and neither do the lights on it, it was working before I took it apart and I have been careful with it. Same thing happened on another HD2 I tried to fix.
Also the ribbon cable for the LCD screen is very hard to connect again because of the tight angle it bends and goes in and the tab on the connector that locks the cable doesnt seem to lock it properly and the colur looks slightly faded unless I put pressure on it which makes it work normally.
Any ideas?

the connector is pretty fragile and there is a high wire density on that small flex cable tip. I were in your situation yesterday, managed to get the buttons working after some 8 tries at reconnecting that flex cable to the motherboard. Try to insert it as deep as you can get it and try to secure it tightly.
The display connector is fairly easy to connect, i make my connections while keeping the display tilted at about 90 degrees from the mainboard.
Don't worry about that, it isn't the baddest situation you can get (try doing the same thing on a htc herald or some older querty keyboard eten's .. that's a real hell)
ontopic.. ah yes, the flex cables are 100% compatible, one of my tmous hd2's has an eu flex cable. It's working just fine. Electronically speaking.. they contain 100% same components.

Right.
LCD screens are different bu you can change them only if you change as an assembly of digitizer-lcd.
housing, chasis and mother boards are different, the rest can be exchanged.

Q:HD2 stop working lcd after crash

Hello, can somebody help me ?, One day my hd2 fall on the floor and my digitizer crash, after that phone works well i had only few cracks on the sreen, 2 months later my phone fall second time but only from low-altitude on the floor. and my lcd stop work phone only vibrate and boot sound works but the lcd is black.do you think is somethink wrong with lcd or with motherboard ??? thanks a lot
It is the LCD, it has stopped working. Your digitizer may have stopped working too but you have no way of knowing this though as the LCD is not working. You can get a replacemeant digitizer and LCD that are already connected to repaiar it with. Do a search or have a good look through the threads in the back pages here and you will find a good bit of threads on people that have done this and go to Youtube and have a search there as it is some great DIY videos on doing this on there.

Yeah ebay will probably be the best place to get replacement components. And just a tip the Euroupean HD2 and T-Mobile HD2 replacement digitzer and LCD combos will fitt in either version of the HD2. But the T-Mobile ones do not have to me soldered to the main board and the Euroupean ones do have to be soldered. Now I do not know if the connector on the ribbon of the T-Mobile ones will be able to plug in to the Eroupean ones as i do not know if they have the resiprocating connector on the main board of the Eroupean models.
i have european version(non-us) P/N 60H00295-00P with ribbon wich need soldering digitizer so i look on ebay.but still i have care about motherboard:/

Not true!
T-mobile touch is connected to LCD through small connector and European version HD2 touch have to be soldered to LCD, but BOTH versions of 'LCD+touch combo' are connected to M/B through connector, no soldering is needed at all!

You may just be right my friend, it does look as if they both have the connector for the Main board. The combos come with the LCD and the digitizer already together, so yes there is no need for soldering. I was under the impression it was not his way. I will do further checking into this later as I just pulled up like 10 different sites but none show a picture that is conclusive enough for me to say for sure but good catch there pvii.

More of that, cable and connectors have the same size and pin nimber, seems that they are interchangeable (LCM+digitizer assembly of course). Motherboards have the same size and shape too, NAND is the only difference I could observe.

[Q] Broken screen

Hi,
I stepped on my HTC HD2 (European version) and now the screen is broken. Actually the glass istself is fine, it's something underneath it. First some black spots appeared, then they started spreading around the screen perimeter. (See attached images).
My question is what do I need to replace? The whole package? The glass? LCD screen? Digitaliser? Or are they all same thing?
Thank You.
LCD is cracked.
LCD & Digitizer glass are bonded together & can be separated.
Normal scenario is dead digitizer & removal of delicate LCD can be difficult, as you are saving Digitizer you should be OK ! take extreme care of all ribbon cables ...
You can buy these 2 parts already assembled or individually.
Worth also noting that the HD" EU model & USA T-Mobile screens & connector are not the same so do research before committing on parts purchase.
T-Mobile USA is easier to repair as has socket connector but EU version has solder connector.
Looking a photo you have EU version ...

So all I need is this part HTC Touch HD2 T8585 LCD?
P.S. Screen is fully responsive, just the black dots...
assuming you dismantle & assemble it without damaging any ribbon cables.
Most people seem to have issues with button/digitizer ribbon due to bad handling ...
also connector soldering is required if buying LCD part separate ...
Black/greenish oily dots are LCD fluid I expect.
Had the same problem with my old phone. After checking with a repair service, it was actually cheaper to buy a new one on ebay instead of getting it repaired.

I know. I asked official HTC service in my country, ant they said it would cost 350$ So I'm thinking of buying broken part myself and find someone, who could fix it for less money. We'll see how it goes

The Cheapest Way is to fix your Cracked Displayproblem by yourself. You can use US und EU Touchscreen-Glases and LCD-Displays. HTC has two Versions: With Soldering ( the 295 Version ) and Click On without Soldering ( 300er Version 2 ). Both are Working in EU-Models perfect. I preffer the better 300er Version...
Now i´m working since a couple of days ( finished today the 1st quarter from my instuctions ) on my DO IT YOURSELF Web-Project and i will bring this forward the next few Days if i have a little Time. Here the Link:
mperlitsch.hintergrundbild.com/htc_hd2.htm
It´s complete in German ( because this is my Language and the Reason for my poor englisch here ), but i bet you can do that Step by Step when you look at my Pictures. Remember: It´s not finished yet, only 25%. I will write the whole Process to Change a complete "Touch-LCD Modul" and Parts ( Glas or LCD from 295er and 300er Version ). It´s really easy to separate the Module e.g. Glas from LCD ( i need 30 Sec. to do that without heating up only with a simple thin Guitar-Plec). The Only problem is to find the correct adhesive Sticker tape. The 3M Brands with 2mm is perfect to Tape the Glas and LCD together.
I recommend for every 1st Timer to buy a complete 300er Click On Touch/LCD Modul. It´s ready to use and a easy; fast and Cheap way. And if you destroy the Glas in 1-2 Years, you can Replace only the Glas without Soldering.
Best Regards and excuse my poor english,
Michael

Need help replacing touchscreen

Hi, got an HD2 from ebay with a broken digitizer. Last night i've opened it up and the digitizer is the solder type. I've been in ebay looking for a replacement and found the digitizer and the combo LCD+Digitizer. My dought is if is better to buy the digitizer or the combo. My soldering skills are next to zero, and i don't know how hard it is to solder the damn thing, it's so small and it has plastic all around. How is this thing soldered? With a normal soldering tool, i think this may be too thick and melt the plastic. The screen is in good condition, but there's also the chance to buy the LCD and the digitizer. Now i see two types of this combos, one with the solder and one without. If i buy the combo i'll have to assemble the two together or do they came assembled? And any type will do? I mean, it doesn't matter if the thing os soldered or not, if i buy in combo i just need to conect the flat cable to the motherboard, and that cable is all the same right??
So resuming, my questions are:
1 - Should i buy the digitizer or the LCD+Digitizer combo?
2 - If the digitizer, can someone give some pointers on how to solder it?
3 - If combo, should i buy whatever is cheaper if it comes assembled and just connect the flat to the motherboard or there are differences in both types?
Hope i could explain myself and thanks in advance for your tips.
You need to buy the lcd+touch combo version, there are two different versions: 295 soldering version, and 300 click on version. It does not matter about what version you have in your phone: if you change all the combo, you can replace it with wich version you prefer. Of course the best one is the click on version: the 300 one.
To replace the screen, just follow this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1QL7BNNL0Y from the beginning to 1.48, and you can easly replace your screen.
The combo, came preassembled and you just need to conect the flat cable to the motherboard, that cables are all the same.
300 is a better digitizer than 295 version.
Buying a 300 assenbly already with lcd/digitizer bonded as one assembly is the way to go & will give easy assembly & better finished repair.
Worth noting most 300 types will probably have T-Mobile logo but that is small price to pay for better unit & clip connector will allow for easier future dismantling if required.
i found a few china supplier with the click on/300/new lcd+digitizer combo.i'll order from the one that as the best reputation/price ratio. I'll post back here when i'm done.
Thanks guys for the help.

HTC Leo screen replacement

Recently, my son dropped my HTC HD2(Europe/Greece version). The result was a broken screen. As I found out later, only the cover glass(digitizer) was broken and the LCD was OK.It even worked over the broken glass but it was dangerous to cut yourself anytime.
I looked in ebay and found a new digitizer at about $15. I also found a guide on youtube on how to open the HD2 and replace the digitizer. I followed all this steps (difficult and tricky but possible) just to find out that the ribbon cable of the old digitizer was welded(soldered) on the LCD. I found out after that, that there are 2 types of HD2. The one like mine and the (I think) T-mobile version which is with a connector.
I had no luck trying to mannually solder the ribbon cable on the LCD. I am not so good on that.
The next is to order a preassembled LCD with a digitizer. It costs about $40-$70 on ebay. It is a litle expensive, so I 'I try to keep it safe. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Are there different types of LCD as it is for the Digitizer?
Can anyone help me on making a corect decision?
Thank you

[Q] Compatibility between D800 and D802 LCD/Digitizer and ribbon cables

I broke my D802 digitizer a while back and ended up ordering a whole new LCD/Digitizer set labelled "ePartSolution-OEM LG G2 D801 D802 LCD Display Touch Digitizer Screen Assembly Black Replacement Part" on Amazon (sorry, n00b so not allowed to post links). Now that it finally arrived, it seems that they sent me the wrong part - the top digitizer ribbon-cable's connector is larger than the socket on the flex cable board.
Does anyone know if it's possible to just replace the ribbon-cable part, eg with lg-g2-d800-charging-port-flex-cable-ribbon-with-earphone-jack per etradesupply.com rather than going through the hassle of getting a different screen all over again?
Thanks.
Had exactly same problem...

Or did you bite the bullet and order a D802 screen just because of that one connector?

I am in the situation that I have installed the D800 screen over an D802 hardware. I could not see the different size of the connectors, because it was not. But after installation the touch is not all the time responsive, and Drop Down menu is not working.
Have anyone tried to change that ribbon-cable part? Is working after that?

I'm also using the D800 screen on D802 device, but my top ribbon connector did not fit.
The screen displays everything fine with only the bottom connectors, and there is SOME touch input.
But because the top connector isn't in, touch input is not reliable. (With "Show touch" enabled in developer settings it shows the white touch area jumping all over the screen when I try to touch)
I'm currently only able to use the device with an OTG cable and a small USB wireless touchpad/keyboard.
with OTG & Mouse mine works too, but I intent to do not use it like that.
Is strange because before starting to replace the screen I compared the old connectors with the new ones and they ware matching. I was really surprised by the end when I realize that is not working. What should be different?
My screen replacement was 90 Euro, so I would spend another 30 for that Ribbon Cable Part if I would know that is the solution.

I wish I knew a solution too for the connector too, if theres is one...
Else maybe just bear with this way of interacting with the device and post a local online ad, to buy someone's bricked/non-functional D802 for cheap as long as the screen is intact. Then harvest it
This is what i'm doing, still just waiting.
Guys i have the same problem but i maybe found an solution.
The deal is the DOCK USB JACK flex cable. If you can notice on the pictures
the up side on the digitizer connector are to small on the D802 variant otherwise the
LS980 varian have the ''big'' up digitizer connector.
Now i have an issue on this flex cable of my LS980 and need an new one.
The thing here are that i also have an broken glass and the replacement for the D802 variant.
I sent the questions to a couple of Chinese sellers on ebay and lets see if
anyone have the knowledge to answer this question.
I will post any news...

Hi, I ordered a replacement lcd with touch inc. frame but my top touch/screen connector is too small for my board.
Sounds like I have what you need and you what I need. I'm in UK, if you are also and still have your replacement, swap?
Hi guys, any update about this?
Thanks !
Hello,
Any news about just replacing the flex cable ?
Thanks.
It seems that the longer flex connectors (for the digitizers) are for the LG G2 versions VS980 and LS980 which are Verizon and Sprint phones. Now remains the question if the main flex (like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Chargin...or-LG-VS980-/311384590958?hash=item487ff7ca6e )is changed will it work to place touch for VS980 in D802 phone?
I bought a D800 flex cable with a d800 screen and replaced my broken d802screen+usb flex cable.
The phone doesnt work properly after replacing those parts :/ It charges very slow ( 20% in 1 hour)
The Touchscreen doesnt really work, its just some random input when i touch it, you cant use the screen like this at all.
I guess theyre just not compatible...or perhaps my replacement screen is broken?
Lets assume its compatible, why would they go through the effort of making different screen/flex cables connector?

Hi, For all of you still in confusion lg g2 has 2 kinds of displays with different pins. d802 and D805 have different pins than every other g2. so if u have any other G2 (variszon att&t t mobile of korean) dont buy display for D802 and D805.
Hope it helps

hey. if i understood you correctly, i'm in the reverse predicament. i have an 802 and bought the LCD with the longer connector. wanna trade?
Ran into this problem with my glass only repair for the g2.
Repaired the digitizer using LOCA got everything ready to reassemble only to find out the seller sent the wrong glass digitizer for the d802 vs the d801 I have.
Was so pissed off especially after all the screen issues I had in my formal thread.
You would think I'd confirm the flex before I began...go figure lol
Small price to pay for not confirming up front.
Moral of the story... d801's screens are not compatible with d802
