Android 2.1 Dialer On Hero? (The One The Droid Has)

Is there a way to get this on the hero?
I like the way it is laid out over the hero phone / dialer.

Been seeing alot of new Roms that have the AOSP Dialer in it and Aloysius 2.0.2 and another one have a version of the dialer?

It would be great it we could just ditch the HTC one and use this one, I am not that good but will look at it this weekend and see what happens. But I am guessing it will not be as easy as pulling one file over to the hero..

I was actually going to create a new dialer based on that Vanilla one. But if you can send me the Droid Phone.apk, I'll see what I can do on porting it.

Here is a link to what I think is the ROM I used on my friends Droid. But not to sure. But it is a full Droid ROM.

I was guessing it is/was a ROM. I can try to find another one latter.
But I know it is one of the two that I flashed over to my friend Rroid, but that was about a month ago so I am not to sure witch it was.

i asked the same question a few weeks back and was told that you can install the aosp dialer but when u make a call or receive a call it reverts back to the sence htc dialer

Just got home... downloaded stuff from the links. I'll be looking into it and see if I can get any successful results. If nothing else, I can always try and skin the phone to have somewhat of the same functionality.

Yeah, if someone can figure this out, that would be awesome. I'm not a big fan of the HTC Sense one as it's really slow due to all the background contact search going on..

I don't know if you guys know.. but there was a AOSP Dialer developed by another member on the forums called NubDialer (Wysie). You can find it in the market by searching NumDial. It's almost identical to the Nexus One/Droid dialer. You guys can have a look at that, while I work on this.
By the way, I've downloaded NubDial, and yes... it does work on our phones. Though, I think the Voicemail button (#1) isn't functioning correctly; I can fix that though.

ill pay $5 for the first dev to get this ported. but id like the dialer buttons to be a dark grey if possible.

I think we should also see if we can find a way to be able to delete the HTC dialer off our phones. Right now, the only way to keep the ability to dial (on any dialer) is to keep the HTC dialer.

I think that this is the best launcher replacement by far. Very smooth and light.

I love this launcher as well.
I have a stupid question however. They talk about "drawers" a lot...what is this feature?

I prefer Launcher Pro to the other apps I have tried like Helix, ADW - loving the amount of customisation you can do with it and how snappy it is as well.
As for a 'drawer' well thats the part you pull up where all your apps are found

Is that all? Why do they make it sound like such a huge feature? I have been looking for a widget or setting and found nothing.

Can someone tell me how to change the icons on the dock. I know if you hold on them you get a very specific list of things you can put on their but gmail and the calendar arent even ones you can pick. I like those on my dock. is that possible??

Just pick "Applications" from the menu that comes up when you long press an icon and it'll bring up a second menu with a list of your installed apps

it is beautiful widgets and the widget is beautiful home

I've tryed many launchers, but Launcher Pro is the fastest one. Helix1 is a little slower.

WEATHER WIDGET DONATE. i think that skin was black swirls or swirly, something like that.
I prefer to to beautiful widgets.

fancy widget is really nice too.

Froyo Bugs
Has anyone else encountered the problem of not being able to install custom icons? It fc's
Also, LauncherPro on Froyo has an app2sd problem that sd apps do not load until LauncherPro is restarted.
I was thinking about using the Script Scheduler I found on this site to kill then restart LauncherPro at every boot, but my bash skills are woefully inadequate. Anyone think they can give me a hand?

Go to appilcations. It takes a while to load, but you can place any app there.

best Launcher! fast and lots of customization. even though i've been experiencing a few FC's now and then. :|

Launcher 2 is the default android homescreen that debuted with 2.0.
This launcher 2 has 7 homescreens instead of froyos 5.

this is because this rom is stock froyo based rom , not sense rom if any one can extract the stock froyo dialer , it will fix this issue

You cant just add the stock froyo dialer to a sense build because its embedded in sense frameworks

How is the voice mail volume with this google voice version? The current market version is horrible on my samsung captivate.

working great on my Nexus One with MCR r21.

Will this work on non froyo roms ? tried to install on my captivate but it didnt show up in the widgets.

I would also like to know if these widgets work in non froyo roms

Formatting on the inbox widget is a little off on my LauncherPro Cyanogen 6 myTouch. Other than that, it works great! Thanks!

Just downloaded it and sideloaded it on my Captivate, and it works good. Got the widgets and all. I wonder why they aren't showing up on yours.

[Q] MIUI icon background

Launchers of like Touchwiz, iPhone, MIUI and DELL android tablet use those squared backgrounds for the icons on their home screen.
I've searched XDA for a themer/dev who has done this but no luck.
People seem to rather remove the iPhone's icon style but I think it looks nice.
Now I want to achieve this effect on a Sense or non-Sense based ROM without photo shopping every icon.
So is there a way to mod a Standalone Launcher like LauncherPro or ADW to have this icon style?
I'd love to help if any dev wants to give this a shot.

Also the mytouch slide has bubbles behind each icon,
Also if you install touchwiz3.0 launcher (ripped from a galaxy s phone) it puts a random coloured sqaure behind each icon, im sure you can edit those square to have what you want

Thanks for the replies, the thing is I want this effect on the HTC Desire which I have installed a Sense ROM (Froyo) on.
I would rather not which to another ROM just to have squared backgrounds.
This is why a Launcher would be the perfect solution.
I think the touchwiz3.0 launcher wouldn't work on my ROM but I'll try!
EDIT: I tried the touchwiz and it works! But the "bubbles" only show in the app drawer.

That would leave me making icons for apps who don't have an iPhone icon.
I'm not looking for that kind of solution.
I want it to have a square behind every icon automatically so to speak.
The DELL tablet ROM and the MIUI ROM does exactly what I want but.
I looked to port it over but that wouldn't work as the whole thing is different.

I've been searching for the same thing, with no luck. The Touchwiz launcher only puts the icon backgrounds on the dock, like you said, and I can't find the modified launcher that the MyTouch 4G uses to put on my EVO.
I'm currently running MIUI, which is awesome, except my battery life is pretty terrible compared with the stock (or modified stock) Sense ROM.
I guess I'll keep searching, and if anyone has any more suggestions, please post them here.

ADWLauncher EX can do this. It's not free though. I am sure it is possible to code it into any Launcher, but how you do that is beyond my capabilities.

Awesome! Just bought it, now I'm downloading the latest EViO ROM and dumping MIUI- the random restarts (although seldom), the wifi drops, and the terrible battery life unfortunately outweigh the really nice UI.

One other thing, when i press the phone icon in the launcher bar it says that the needed application isn't installed. Can i clear these settings to use stock Desire dialer? Or can i download the Dell dialer somewhere?

It looks really nic, but I'm having the same issues (facebook problem+phone icon) + when I try to set up an email account it says "com.dell.launcher has stopped unexpectedly"..
would be great to be able to scroll upd and down in the music widget instead of showing 12 random albums..

It wont recognise the phone app because the froyo launcher only recognises the stock Android dialer, which can't be installed on HTC phones. Made a thread on this, Google search stock froyo launcher HTC desire and its the first one. Haven't tried it with this dell skin yet, just got everything sorted on my on phone so not gonna mess with it for a good while!

This works fine. Except for the Facebook and email widget.

Well, if 2 out of 5 widgets don't work you can't really say that it "works fine", right?

Wow, i love the launcher and the gallery and music widget. Is it somehow possible to use the widgets with the sense launcher or the sense widgets with the sense launcher?

no forget it email dosent work either, i thought it did, i think the launcher is missing an email app and social networking app off the dell i think, there just widgets no applications to go with them
