[INFO] Come to #asus-transformer on freenode IRC - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hey everyone, I posted this in general but figured I would post it here as well. I have set-up a irc channel for the Transformer. I set it up for a number of reasons. It allows users with issues to stop by the channel and get "instant" help from a dev or more experienced user. For Devs it gives them a place to go to get testers immediately for roms/apps they are working on. We have one for the moto xoom and all the devs come in there when they have things that need to be tested. I know it has made the dev's life easier for the xoom because whenever he needs someone to test there is usually someone available. My goal is to make this channel a great resource for devs, testers and power users to come together and share ideas etc... I'm also looking for a few trustworthy people to become mods in the channel. (Established devs always get mod access)
The channel is on freenode irc. #asus-transformer

Hey there.
Heads up, this is not a ROM, nor development. I would normally put this in general (Again?) but i'll chuck it in the announcments for a while
Trying to keep all forums clean and on-topic.
Thanks
Your mate

Done it. Thread locked as to avoid clutter

To Haykuro, Jesusfreke, DudeOfLife & other rom developers

I have a few ideas for the troubles developers are having here
1. Each rom developer should work together and have one area that only developers can give ideas and input, only select people would be allowed to post to the area but we could all view what is in the works, a semi private forum or community, this would cut down on spam and allow for uninterupted development
2. Developers shouldn't have to handle being customer care/support, they shouldn't have to deal with idiots that cannot rtfm or search, this takes time from their own ideas and development process as well as their own lives having to keep up with thousands of people.
3. In organized places like the linux kernel project developers are seperated from the community to a point to avoid such issues that turn away good developers. Basically the developers know what need to be done, its a passion of theirs and we are all lucky to take part in the experience
4. There is already communication between developers and maybe the mods could create a read only area for non-developers, and read/write for rom developers and trusted helpers
So if xda cannot create a seperate forum just for the developers to use and for people to view but not spam/other things I say the devs should just create another rom mod community
Thanks,
defcon

The xda forum has been here for very long time. And that proves there's nothing wrong with the working model we're having here right now. Otherwise you wouldn't see an active forum like this, amirite?
Part of the problem here is that evryone in the community who has an interest in modding KNOWS that this is the place all the modders go. I agree if we created a tech support forum (or a sepperate website) with threads that can only be started by privilaged users then the madness would be contained within a logical structure.
I agree with this completely! This will force those that don't research (search and read appropriate topic) into doing some studying! We need to resolve this issue ASAP before we lose more of our top devs! I appreciate their hard work and the countless hours of effort they put in! I've read some of these long threads and they just keep getting longer by posters that ask a question that was answered at or near the beginning of the topics! Pretty ridiculous? I call it laziness!
I think this is a great idea. And also maybe an irc for devs and trusted helpers.

Vibrant Bible Announcement: Help wanted!

I normally would post this in the bible its self but i need more eyes to see this!
It is getting tough to keep the bible updated regularly. I was wondering if i could get a few people to consistently report when a thread has been updated, or when a new thread that should be added pops up? I have been busy and will continue to be busy with other projects, Rom Reviews, and some other ones that i have yet to revile. If a team was assembled to help it would make the bible stronger and the Vibrant community stronger. If you feel you would be able to help, please volunteer i will be glad to accept your aid! Feel free to PM me or post on this thread, Thanks much.
P.S. if you don't want to be a consistent contributer, but still want to help. You can still report threads as some of you have in the past. The more the community gets involved with a project like this the better!
To the MOD, i am going to post this in the Development section too, this post should be deleted once i find a sufficient team, please hold off on deleting it until then.

[DEVELOPER HELP] IRC Channels

Hey guys, I use IRC a TON, and find that it is the most helpful form of communication, aside from the forum. But if you want something instant, then you should def check out IRC.
I have talked to Freenode, and they agreed to give me control of the ##windowsphone (for the non-dev) and ##windowsphone-dev (for the developers among us, or just plain hackers ) channels after two weeks. But in the meantime, we can use the channels ourselves without registering. So join, talk, have fun, help each other!
The channels are located on the Freenode IRC network, and again the channels are ##windowsphone and ##windowsphone-dev
Once I register the channels, I will be looking for some people to help me run the channels. The best way to get that position is to join, talk, and be helpful. Once I get the channel registered, I will begin the process of finding out who will help me maintain the channel.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or hit me up on Google+, as well as join our community on G+!
(Reposting in the development forum for developers, as I know when I do development for Android I don't always check the other sub-forums, normally just the development forum. Mod: if this violates any posting rules, please advise me and take this thread down.)
~Thanks!~
Great Idea

I was wondering do you suggest any irc apps for wp8 reason I ask is that I just purchased a house and won't have internet for a while probably unless I want dial up.
I haven't looked into any EP apps het, but I'll be doing that soon as I'm going on vacation and will need easy access.

IRC channel for Oneplus One developers

We made an IRC channel on freenode.net for Oneplus One developers, but obviously anyone who has a question regarding development (not help for installing roms, kernels, etc) can join. The channel is #oneplusonedevs
theres already a channel on freenode thats been there since like february. its ##oneplusone. it has actual cyanogenmod people in there already.

I've been in there and there is always a lot of spam. We had talks easily in #oneplusonedevs
its not full of spam. it gets a lot of chat, and not always about the oneplus, but you cant always just talk about only that. if you start talking about it in there, you kind of have permission to take over the topic.
