[Q] Is there an updater for apps installed from SD? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Well, the problem is that i've flashed and installed a new ROM to my phone, which it means I had to erase every single app on my device. I did backed my apps and I already have installed them, but and as many should know, they won't update because they weren't downloaded originaly and directly from the market. That's all I want, find a way to update the apps installed from my SD. Any help would really be apreciated and by the way, this is my first post.

help cant install apk files anymore

plz help
I have an rooted x10a(r23) and Iv been installing apk files by transferring them to my sd card.
Iv been using Astor to install them. Also i have non market apps checked in my settings.
Today i tried to install an apk file using Astro, but it wouldn't let me. it just goes back to an blank screen and then back to the install screen.
Does any one know how to fix this?
Happened to me after I rooted my phone. But not immediately after rooting.I removed all the unnecessary apps and stopped all the third party services using startup cleaner, dunno if that did it, but I am able to install apks again.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
also the same problem x10i R23, rooted one week ago. Till yesterday it was no problem to install apk files. Since today it is not possible!
interesting. this same thing happened to me before i rooted. after i rooted i was able to install any app.
Try checking the install from unknown sources option in the settings.

This point is selected but since today it is not more possible to install apk files.
Installation only direct from the market is possible.
Maybe a bug in the root???
I replaced the rooted R23 through R2BA0024 (not rooted) and have now no problem to install apk files.

any body know how to fix this cause i dont want to ROOT again! :"(
Same problem
After rooting last night I can not install apk files from sdcard. The installer starts but after choosing install the installer just starts againg in an endlesss loop. Works fine using adb install and also from Market.

Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general

Look up apps2sd its custom for 2.2 froyo but there is a work around for earlier versions, research lots before you do anything coz you can mess your phone settings if you don't know what your doing.

[Q] Some Apps not installing

I am having issues with downloading some apps 57mb internal storage .
Some apps successfully install others don't they say downloaded but installation failed .
Where do these downloads go to on my phone ?
EG : if i could find them would i be able to install through astro with .apks.
unrooted FRG33
I run into this with apps I have moved to SD and a couple other apps in the market like Google Sky Map. Also had this problem with WiFi File Explorer Pro but the dev made a change to his code and it updated fine after that, he said there is some issue with rooted phones. For apps that are already installed and won't update you need to move them back to phone storage and then update again. Not sure if this applies to you as you are unrooted but maybe you did the adb setinstalllocation?
Also, this should be in the Q&A section.

[Q] Android market keeps reverting to phone version

I recently updated my Iconia a500 to the lastest update(unrooted). Since then the honeycomb market first appears when i open it, however if I try to install an app it stays at waiting to install...if I go to my apps from the app it opens it in the pre honeycomb version which is presumably the phone version. After that the honeycomb version is nowhere to be found untill I reinstall it. What might be the solution to this?
Thanks in advance for your help guys.
Has your tablet always been stock and unrooted..
Did you install the new market on the tablet before acer updated your tablet to the new market.if So where did you d/load it from.. There is a market .apk on the internet that has something wrong with it that causes this.. It installs on your tablet. Not replacing the original Market app. This was asked alot back when the new market first came out.
you can go to where the aps are system/apps and see if there is more then one market app. delete them both .
i went into settings then privacy .untick the backup account and automatic restore data this stops google from restoring data files for both market apps .then find a Legit verson of the android market apk..
Do a search on google for this issue to get step by step instructions. I am writing this out of my memory and it could be a bit off.

Thanks for your reply, my tablet has always been stock and unrooted, and for as long as I can remember has had the honeycomb market interface. Under manage applications there are two instances of the android market, the honeycomb one which can be uninstalled (uninstalls itself when I open the older version also) and the older version which doesn't have the option to be removed only remove updates.
im guessing the one that you can remove is a app that you installed..
I suggest you backup your files. to sd card..
Go to
settings
Privacy ..
and at the bottom you will see factory reset.. this will reset the tablet to total stock and remove the apps that did not come factory installed..
this should fix this issue.. for some reason a update did not remove the old market app or you installed it not knowing or forgot you did so...
Thanks for your help was hoping there was some other solution....I'm considering rooting it and installing a custom rom like what i did with my HTC sensation... once again thanks!!!
unfortunatley this need ROOT privilages.
Download "Market 3.4.4.apk" install with any File explorer app.
It's tuff to make the Market find outdated apps sometimes!
Doubtful : maybe there is a way to have a "market 3.4.4" made into a .zip file, rename to "update.zip" and boot into your stock recovery and it will add in ROM.

Nandroid backup is done inside of clockwork recovery which you can use rom manager to boot into.
Custom roms will usually come with busybox, but if you want to update your version you can download busybox installer from market
Not sure what you are doing with google maps, but if you uninstall maps it shouldnt give you a problem reinstalling another google maps apk manually or from market.
If it says read only on system folder then you have not changed to write access. What file browser are you using?
You can absolutely unstall any of the tmobile bloatware including tmobile tv. If you want a precooked rom that has all of this stuff removed and is stock in every other way then check the link in my sig for my mysense rom. It may be exactly what you are looking for.

[Q] insufficient storage available CM11

hello,
I am having this problem since a week now on my Galaxy S4 I9505 with CM11 rom. When I try to install a new app from the playstore or when I try to update an app, I get this insufficient storage available error. but when I go and look how much space there is available. I see there is more then 5GB+ available in the internal storage. I read a lot about it in several topics and forums and I tried all solutions and nothing worked. I tried emptying my cache, updated the rom to the latest nightly build, emptying dalvik-cache. can somebody help with this problem. its driving me crazy
any help would be appreciated

Hi mate
Is a playstore error
1 Delete the app that is giving you problems at /data/app-lib
2 If the problem continues delete the app at /data/data
3 If problem continues delete also the app at /data/app
You may lose the settings of the app , backup app before you do anything
hello,
thank you for your very fast reply. but the problem does not only persist on apps that need updates but also on new apps I never installed before. so the app doenst have any folder in one of the locations you mentioned. and let me give you another example. I downloaded xbmc apk manually en tried to install it manually and it gave me a similar error like in the play store.

Hi
But what about the ones that need update , did you delete the folders of those to see if it helps?
Also clear data and cache from google play framework
Do you use ROM Manager to create Nandroid backups? Or ClockworkMod Recovery in general?
If so you may very well have your nandroid backup tacking up all that space.
ROM Manager defaults to save your backups in the internal storage and then hides the files so they can't be accidentally deleted.
This results in the file manager showing available space that really isn't available.
Delete the old nandroids or move them to the external SD card to make room.
