[Q] Xperia play buttons seems to be lower than others? - Xperia Play General

Hey guys,
Have anybody found that the button of square and cross to be lower than others?
I think for me it's because I use those button the most compared to others while playing games and it seems to sit lower than the other buttons now.
Anybody found their xperia play to be like that?
Cheers,
Aaron

I think you need to clarify what you mean.
The square and the cross are both lower than the triangle, which is lower than the L and R buttons.
They are meant to be that way
Seriously though, i don't understand what you are trying to say.

I think he means the square and cross buttons are at a lower depth then the other buttons. like they dont pop out of the casing as much as the others

did you ever do a comprehension test in school? how did that turn out for you?

Ah.
I get it now.
I have moderate use out of my xperia play, i have not yet experienced buttons feeling constantly depressed lower than others.
Maybe they will with long term useage, but i hope not.

Yeah, i did pretty awesome at school thanks.
Probably why i didn't understand the op, because he used the wrong words for what he meant

his wording was fine, you just need to read more carefully

Sorry for the misunderstanding guys,
But yeh I meant they feel more depressed in their normal position.
So I guess no one had that issue yet? Cause I've been playing games like megaman x and stuff and constantly holding in to the square and pressing the cross button. Lol but so far they are still very responsive, just hope it doesn't get worse.
Cheers,
Aaron

where is the LED notification ?

hi everyone,
I was wondering where is the LED notification that shows the alerts ?
its just like old ones or it has some innovation-things like diamond/pro ?
it would be nice if they could do some dance light through those 4 keys under the screen ...
Thats my question, but nobody could answer me.. There should be a light in the powerbutton, but I've never seen a proof of that and on the pics it doesn't seem to me as a "light-button"... I'm still sad about this greez, cad^^

it's not at the power button, it's at the front near the top (ie. where the ear piece is). it's under the screen/plastic, amber, green, blue and red. hope that helps.
UPDATE: i made a mistake see posts below.
Oh really? That would be really great!! I don't need a discolight like on the x1 (although I find it cool), but only a practical light that informs me without looking on the screen. If this would be true, also on the front of the phone, then its absolutely perfect!! I'm happy now, thank you greez, cad^^

oops, my bad. sorry i was talking about the russian version (the one with WiMax Touch 8900 or something?). as for blackstone, it is above the power button AND at the corners (above as in if you lay the phone on it's back on the table). the color is still the same, ie. blue for BT, green for signal and wifi, , etc etc
sorry about the mix up again
oh and you probably want proof or something, here it is,

tnx man,
but it was unclear , it was like its a reflex or something ?
I´m mad about the position of the Notification LED´s. Why are they at the top? When i´m looking at my device i see the front not the top.....

well not really, although htc are quite stupid sometimes, on the top is ideal when you consider it's multimedia/video watching device. you dont want a flashing led annoying every 3 seconds by flashing in your eyeline!
Excactly!
And no flashing LED's when driving in the dark with the PDA in your carholder...
The flashing LED´s havent bother me anyway. I dont think that the HD would be a cinematic-Machine or something else. Its not only the Position of the LED´s its also the weakness of the LED´s that makes me angry. Until now with a quick look i knew if there is any notification.
but it's never a 'qwik' look though, 9/10 times you always miss it 1st time and have to wait lol!

If it makes you feel any better, the Samsung Omnia has exact same position of the notification led (on the top power button) and maybe even less distinguishable. So I'm guessing there's must be some reason that they put it there. Don't rush to blame HTC

Isn't the LED you are talking about, which is at the top. just at the WIMAX version? If i remember correctly, the HD has got the LED beside the speaker

No, it's not
It can be a right bastard sometimes, you just have to yank the fecker off!
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Yeah, when I first pulled it out of the box, it took a bit of force to get the cover off the first time. After that, it pops off easily though. Just pull from the notch at the top.
I had this issue yesterday - trying to use the notch at teh top - it works better if you pull from where the volume jogger is.
(At least in my opinion....)
Thanks for the answers!!
I will try to open this Hero again after dinner tonight
Ok, i've managed to open it!! LOL
press ur finger at the top notch and the cover near the volume button will be released
!!!
Thanks
there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
haha, just messing with you.
what i do to open it every single time is to use the tip of my index finger and place it in the gap on the top and do and inward clenching motion. always works.
Glad you succeeded. I am having a lot of problems trying to get the cover off my iPhone. Can anyone help?

I'd use corosive acid, not too strong and then it should be rather fragile.
On the topic: yea, in the beginning it takes rather some force..
Later when you're flashing/pulling battery a lot it'll pop off TOO easy
the finger on top and pull away from screen works best in my opinion, cracks do sound scary.
When in doubt: use more force(let's not use fire just yet).

[Q] Typing on the keyboard while laying on my bed with the DZ in front/above my head?

Hey
Im wondering if, because of the hinge, can I put the HTC Desire Z in front of me, while I look upwards at the ceiling with me seeing what on the screen...
A (bad ) drawing example is included.
Some sites say that it cant be done but they havent tried it as I havent read anything with personal expirence with this issue and this is pretty important to me. Thanks.
I guess i don't understand. Are you saying that some are saying you shouldn't do this for some reason?
I am able to, but I know others who aren't.
it helps that when I hold my phone to type on the physical keyboard, my index fingers naturally wrap around the screen, which holds it in place... but even if I intentionally move my index fingers so that there is nothing hindering the screen from moving by itself, it does stay up. if I give the phone a slight wiggle, it will pop down though.
again, I believe with these phones it just varies from device to device... the hinge threads I've read have been all over the place.

LOL, man! One of the funniest posts I have ever seen. Even with that drawing.
To answer, though, I hardly manage to type like this, because the device tends to close. You can hold it with your thumbs, though.
I love your drawing, buddy

the accepted fix involves modifying the spring that opens/closes the hinge. there are several threads floating around with the process... note that it does void your warranty, however (you have to partially disassemble the phone). for me, the hinge hasn't been a huge nuisance anyway. yeah, it's loose... so what? you learn and adapt your "methods" to work around it as you use the phone. it has never caused a serious problem for me.
I would like to add that over time I have noticed it does loosen (noticably, but not so much that it has been a problem for me) more and more.. which makes sense because the spring is being compressed and relieved repeatedly.

Obviously, your needs arent the same as mine. You say "so what?" if the screen closes and Id like it to stay open.
Could you please post some links to those threads? Id like to see if the process is difficult.
Thanks
I rarely use the phone laying on my back, but when I do I move my hands a little bit higher on the keyboard and push my index fingers inwards toward each other slightly so that they are touching the device where the screen meets the keyboard. Holds it in place just fine, no need to modify the springs.

I think you misunderstood (I didn't word that very well - apologies). I'm not saying it's not an issue, it is an issue.
but, as I and a couple others have posted here, there is a remedy: positioning your index fingers such that they hold the screen if you are one of the unlucky ones who gets a hinge that is so sloppy that it falls at whim. on my G2, I don't even have to do this, but I do it naturally so it's added security that the screen isn't going to slam shut.
there's no such thing as a perfect phone. but as far as android phones with keyboards go, you're not going to do much better than the DZ/G2 at this point.. that is a fact.
here's a link to the best hinge fix thread I've gone through:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863919
if you search "hinge" in the main G2/DZ subforum, you'll get a plethora of thread matches.

Cant "Thanks" you as it says more than 5 per day arent allowed so....
Intresting. Looks a bit complicated though but I guess Ill have to do it if I want to use the phone correctly the way I wanted.
Thank you
Just as a update: I can use my phone perfectly without applying any fix about using it for about 3-4 months. There is no issue at all.

Very weird problem with keyboards

is anyone else having this problem:
I am currently using smart keyboard pro but this is happening with all the keyboards ive tried.. but SOMETIMES when i hit keys with my right thumb they wont register nothing happens i touch the same letter with my left thumb they work... i know this sounds rediculous but it is a consistant problem i am not sure what would cause this if it is a defect with my device(if so that sux) very confused has any one else experienced this with the atrix or even possibly any other device..
You have connection with one thumb but not the other? Weell since these screens aren't self aware or can't discern between anything that carries charge.... I think your thumbs are the problem.

Have you tried looking into the way you are holding it? Sometimes the base of your thumb, or palm, might make contact with the area around the capacitive buttons which renders your thumb input unresponsive.
"You're holding it wrong" ...... sound familiar?

Well, in Apple's case it's a hardware issue, whereas in your case it might be user error.

It's a double-edged sword with the Atrix. It has a really responsive screen but that also translates into really sensitive. I actually changed the case I was using to accommodate this problem because I have big hands. I was using the Incipio Feather case but kept hitting the bottom of the screen with my hand so I switched to an Otterbox which keeps the base of my thumbs from touching.

On a more serious note I actually think this might be the case, although I doubt you could use your thumbs any differently when typing or whatever than any of us could.
When I have my nexus one on a table, I can't hit any capacitive buttons to save my life with my index finger. Because the glass is somewhat thick and the button press registers to the top (near the black line where the screen starts) I have to hold the phone to get it to work.

The issue you're having with the N1 has been ongoing for about a year now. I had the same problem with both N1s that I had and was supposed to be remedied through a "software fix". I think it was finally blamed on hardware/manufacturing, but don't hold my word to it.
Plus, I was being serious. You don't have to hold it upside down or anything. I just used a little more "arc" with my thumbs but I decided to go with a different case to make it easier.

how can i keep the home, menu and back buttons always stay lit?

i'm on streakdroid 1.9.0 and i love it, but would love to have the three touch capacative buttons to be always lit up while the screen is awake. can anyone help?
several people have asked this question, myself included, and the answer seems to be...nothing. I was told that it was that way to conserve battery, and "you'll get used to it"...and in some small way I've learned to tolerate it this long, but I still don't like it. I'm planning on flashing to a different rom because I believe that's the only solution.
Someone did suggest an app called AdjBrightness or something like that, but it did not work for me, or the fellow it was suggested to.
aw man thats too bad, those buttons NEED to be lit up. its helpful to be able to see where they are and looks much cooler

I disagree - I never notice that they're turned off anymore. And I think the screen is prettier without the lighted buttons drawing attention to themselves.

It was annoying for me at first as well, but after using the device for a while I'm used to it. I hit the appropriate button on the first try nearly every time. Since there are only three buttons you can generously put a lot of your thumb/finger onto one of three large areas.
