im typically just trolling around lol. however today i need to post. so heres my deal. i have my gt540 upgraded to the stock 2.1 but its rooted. well kinda???
i did the super one click and rooted the phone but im stuck. if i igo into rom manager and try to load one of the dev apps for the gt540 its prompts me to install from boot. when it reboots i get a black screen and about a minute later the original os is loaded. im sorry i know im a noob any help would be super.
also a side note. whenever i try and get into fastboot or anything it just loads the regular rom.
so i really am lost and would love any feedback.

I finnaly found someone who has the same problem.
I do the flashing on a friends phone same as i did on my multiple times SUCCSESFULLY
and KDZ flashes it Ok, but it just loads up same rom. The background is not changed, apps are here but arent working.
i do a hard reset, see that i've lost some languages, means it's flashed but it's not!
I tried even cs-recovery flash and it just wont.
I repeat, i did the processs multiple times on my phone alwyes succsesfully
--->I also updated that very same phome to 2.1 with KDZ when he got it<---
It flashes the phone but its not flashed. No fastboot. it looks like i'ts partially flashed.
how's that even possible?

You still have a hope! Me (Hopefully)
Your problem is you probably wont have Fastboot installed. You need to flash a .KDZ file to activate fastboot and here is how:
(I took this from MoDaCo)
The guide
To install this ROM you need to have fastboot enabled on your phone. If you have Android 1.6/2.1 installed from LG, then fastboot is not enabled. I will explain how to enable fastboot on your phone (this involves re-flashing/replacing your currently installed firmware):
KDZ Updater CarphoneWarehouse Unlocked.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash to Android version 2.1 with fastboot (Carphone Warehouse Unlocked)
KDZ Updater Europe Open.zip - A link to a zip archive with all the files needed to flash toAndroid version 2.1 with fastboot (Europe Open)
Download the version that best applies to you, if you live in the UK, I'd recommend you download the Carphone Warehouse Unlocked version, whereas if you live in Europe, I'd recommend the Europe Open version (simple right? )
I live in the UK and used the open rom from Europe as the Carphone Warehouse rom would not install
Now, how to flash these versions; I'll explain in detail how to flash the ROM's from starting with backing up.
Instructions to install ROM with Fastboot:
2. Extract the .zip file you downloaded to your computer (e.g. your desktop). Open the folder and install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi).
4. Next, open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
(i) Change 'Type' to '3GQCT' *THIS IS A MUST, THE UPDATE WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE AND YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE*
(ii) Make sure 'PhoneMode' is set to 'DIAG'
(iii) Browse for the 'V20B_00+Fastboot.kdz' file.
5. Prepare the phone by enabling USB Debugging by going to Settings>Applications>Development>Enable USB Debugging and connect the phone to the computer via USB cable and wait for the drivers to install for the phone.
6. Click 'Launch software update' and do not use your computer until the update is complete. The update will take roughly 10-20 mins to complete.
If you have a problem with this try a different rom, this guide offers two to choose from.

How to install Clockwork:
Download Clockwork from here
Download Fastboot.exe from here
Extract Fastboot to your desktop and copy clockwork to the desktop too.
Put your phone in fastboot (camera+power)
Open a command prompt and type

i do manage to get into some type of fastboot but after i run "fastboot flash recovery recovery_clockwork_2.5.1.8_swift.im" then "reboot fastboot" cdm says "rebooting..." then nothing happens.
tried to do home and power at the same time with the phone powered on and powered off. nothing...
still kinda lost. i do feel that i made some progress with your help but i have a ways to go. more suggestions?

Go back into fastboot mode and open a cmd and do "fastboot -w" that should wipe the phone's data.

ok so after i kept getting the errors on eveyrthing i touched. i decided to do a hard reset. did that re-ran the kdz file. did the clockwork and fastboot. seems like im at the last stage and cant get recovery up.
also i did do the erase.
more suggestions jack?

Try erasing then re-flashing the recovery partition with a different version. Get 3.0.0.5 here.
Put recovery in the same place as fastboot is and do this in command prompt.

So guys I've managed to brick my optimus (tried to flash 2.1 via kdz over 2.2)

Hi All,
I was updating my LG 540GT toswift droid 2.3 from 2.1.While using kdz_fw_upd.exe ,some error occured in between and the process was some what like stuck and not responding.So i exit the program,(meanwhile phone was showing downloading mode).So i unplugged the usb cable and removed the battery to restart it.But after that it is not even switching ON.i tried to go to recovery mode by pressing volume down+camera+power keys,button nothing happened.i tried home+volume up key,the same result.
i tried using Kdz_fw_upd.exe again,its showing "PHONE WAS NOT FOUND" error.I tried all the ways i could.Please help me if i can do anything with it?

do anything about it..
can the service center rectify it??my warranty expired lst month.i am ready to pay charge. they wiil not replace as the warranty expired.or the phone is unusable permenantly?

Follow this, this might unbrick ur phone if u
are lucky!
[HOW-TO] Repair your device if it feels like dead | When you click power button nothing happens (Note that this may or may not work)
Make sure you use USB ports that are in back of youre PC, dont use front ones.
Disable LGE Virtual Modem. In your Windows operating system, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Modems > Right click on LGE Virtual Modem and click Disable.
Try to boot your phone into Emergency/Download mode (VOL DOWN + POWER).
If the phone booted into Emergency/Download mode, launch KDZ Updater.
In TYPE dropdown menu, choose EMERGENCY.
Load KDZ(ROM) and flash your phone.
If the phone failed to boot into Emergency/Download mode (VOL DOWN + POWER), launch KDZ Updater.
In TYPE dropdown menu, choose CS_EMERGENCY.
Load KDZ(ROM) and flash your phone.

trust me i know how it feels...
the first week i got my phone i stuffed it up by trying
fastboot... then i managed to fix it myself. from then on
i stuffed my phone nearly every single time i tried something...
But i always managed to fix it!
But i guess bad luck 4 u..

yeah they can be changing the motherboard!
But i think that will cost more than the phone itself..
If u have warranty just say ur phone doesn't turn on and
they will give u a new one!
Actually the 1 warranty expired by last month(oct). When i purchased it,it came with 1.6,later i upgraded to 2.1 successfully.With this confidence only i planned to upgraded to swift droid 2.3.Do u know what had went wrong??

the program showed up a windows-message that it does not work anymore ?
or was it just doing nothing ?
1st the program showed windows error(im using vista) asking the close down the program.So i closed and restarted the program and loaded the kdz file and it again started to do the work.but after few seconds it displayed some upgrade error like "WPARAM_UPGRADE_ERROR Error Code = 1002"

1: Tried to install a rom that requires bigger partition size [Enigma rom, mikegapinksi's ICS rom etc]
2: found out how to change partition size [Mur4ik's tool] does so.
3: Engima rom fails to install from clockwork mod, tries fastboot but gets the infamous Too Many Links error, still able to write the boot image and recovery image though...
4: Tries to boot device, White LG Logo normally appears, swiftdroid logo briefly appears and then the normal LG flashy bootanimation, but after that, nothing.
5: Trying to write a system image to the phone using the Fastboot commandline reports "flash_write_image: image undersized (128 < 2112) on the device itself, and remote write failure on the PC
KDZ seems to throw various errors, WParam: 100 and Lpara,:1002 etc., sees the device in "scan for phone" though
Fastboot mode and Recovery still work, but booting normally throws normal LG Logo, then swiftdroid briefly, then Flashy LG bootanimation but NO FURTHER
Any help [Reccomended ROMs, procedures etc.] would be VERY much appreciated thanks ^^

Although it is a bit stuffed up, If u can flash fastboot
again using KDZ and everything will be solved!

Its not an img its a rom..
I can't use bootloop nor download anymore after leaving the battery out, And Hard reset does nothing in either modes. ClockworkMod still boots fine and i've had KDZ pick up the phone form that before...

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to update my LG GT 540 to Gingerbread following this great tutorial. As my machine runs Debian Testing, I am using a virtual machine (in VirtualBox) with Windows XP (32 bits) for KDZ in order to install a fastboot ROM. USB forwarding is enabled in VirtualBox, all devices should be forwarded, and when I connect the phone to the computer, adb and KDZ recognize it. So far, so good.
When I try to update the ROM with KDZ, it switches the phone to download mode, does nothing for ~5 mins, and crashes with the error "wParam 100, lParam 6". The phone stays in download mode, but removing and reattaching the battery makes it boot as usual.
The LG modem is disabled in the Windows device manager. No application that might try to access the phone is running at any time. Drivers are installed as described in the instructions. I have tried all USB ports. I have also tried to remove the battery, connect the phone to the computer using USB, and then using KDZ in CS_EMERGENCY mode. Same result. Later, I manually entered download mode (removed battery, pressed volume down button and plugged the USB cable in) and tried to run KDZ, but in that case it didn't find the phone at all.
So apparently KDZ (or the virtual machine in general) are unable to find and access the phone as soon as it is in download mode. Does anybody have an idea how I could fix this?

1. Plug USB cable to PC
2. Take battery out of phone
3. Press and hold VOL- button
4. Plug USB cable to phone
5. Wait few seconds ... (it should display "Download Mode" on black screen)
6. Put battery back in phone
7. UPDATE YOUR KDZ NOW
8. navigate to phone settings and security and preform wipe/master reset (not obligatory but ensures "clean rom" )
