New Facebook version (1.5.3) force close? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Running CM7 nightly 41 with dalingrin's 418c kernel. Every time I attempt to view a profile, the Facebook app will crash. I've tried to reinstall and fix permissions / reboot, but to no avail. Anyone else having this problem?

Happened on my Galaxy S too, so I think the release is bad. A clear of Facebook cache and reboot seems to have fixed it.

Gave it a shot, and no luck. I still FC every time I try and view a profile.

i have cyanogen 7 final release and facebook 1.5.3 keeps crashing when i click on a profile.

yes i've got the same problem on my wildfire (cm7 #41) -.-

Same here on HTC Desire GSM (Bravo) with CM7 installed

Same problem. On CM6 and Froyo tho...

works fine BN 1.1
With autonooter 3.0

My Nexus One and Nook Color, both with CM7, experience this crash every time. I had to roll back to 1.5.2. So it seems to happen in general with CM7. If anyone has a non-CM7 Gingerbread ROM on their phone maybe they can try it too?
So yeah it's Facebook's fault

Definitely leading towards a bad release by FB.

Indeed. Is happening to me to. I also did downgrade of kernel to LorDmod V4.1 2.6.32.28 and still doing it. This is a FB issue and not the CM rom or kernel.
I get a:
process com.facebook.katana error

Same thing happening for me. I sideloaded 1.5.2 and the crashes have gone
found it at http://software2tech.com/tag/facebook-for-android-1-5-2-apk-download/ if anyone else needs it

Yeah I was lucky enough to have 1.5.2 in a Titanium Backup so I restored it from there; then copied the apk to my phone and placed it there too. I also used TB to remove the Market link so that it won't auto-update for now.

Happens on both my HTC Hero and my Nook.

same here with CM7 #50... tried everything till I realised it was really the app that cause the problem... hope they will fix this soon

A copy of the prior stable version is posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13135172&postcount=27

Finally a solution!
Thanks guys!
going back to the previous version fixed the problem
Nexus One running CM7

I'm just using the new browser FB for now.

I have the same issue on CM7 but I think going back to the previous version is not the best solution...it is a solution thou. Makes me think Facebook doesn't have much about testing their apps before releasing...like they don't have enough money to hire some QA people

Switch to 1.52 and it's running flawlessly!!!

jefit/jefit pro + cm7

Ever since I upgraded to cm7 jefit pro will not work. I thought it might have been an error on their side, but i went back down to cm6 and it worked flawlessly as always. I am a huge fan of the cm7 build, but has anyone gotten the jefit apps to work with it? if anyone knows what i can do to get it to stop force closing on the main page, i would be very appreciative.
thanks for any help.

Cm7 is ginger sooo new api's which mean its a developer issue not cm7

Wrong forum. Try q&a. And flash back to froyo or contact your app developer to request a fix.

ThunderV2 theme question

I recently installed the thunderbolt ThunderV2 theme on my X. I'm running Liberty 1.5. Never had any reboot issues with liberty. Ever since this install it's rebooted probably 10 or more times the last 24 hours. Any ideas why this is happening? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Blandroid on N1

I just noticed, blandroid rom on the rom manager menu, has anyone tried it on N1? I'm using cm7 Rc4 and I know you'll all say stick with it, but I'm still curious.

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. It says it's a stable 2.3.3 with no bloatware. Sounds very intriguing...in fact so much so that I downloaded it, but have yet to flash it...lol.
Certainly tempting isn't it, is this a case of who goes first lmao, out of interest how big is it? I notice the cm7s are just over 80 mb.

Seems like a plain stock ROM, nice to see to be honest.
Noticed the same thing, but was wondering what all it supports, site doesn't say much. I.E. what kernel it has/supports, TB alert stuff like that.
Hopefully the dev comes and explains what all he's done.
Well, I flashed it, for like an hour then when back to cm7 using the recovery I made.
First thing, market didn't work.
Secondly it didn't have the extra apps cm7 has, which I expected, but I instantly missed theme chooser.
Thirdly it wiped my contacts list.

First. The market issue is probably a wipe issue as I had the same problem with two different MIUI GB ROMs.
Secondly. That would be the lack of bloatware mentioned above. It's like stock android, so not sure why you even flashed it if you wanted bloatware.
Thirdly. It didn't wipe your contact list you didn't sync with google, becaue all of your contacts are backed up there.
You know what, I knew that'd be the replies I got, to be honest I'm curious of any rom that 1might increase battery life, currently using 85% over 10hours!! And of course the dreaded wonk which is seemingly inherent with cm7.
I couldn't force Google to sync with my phone, all my contacts are stored with Google you're right there.
Btw how would I get the market back?

I think it is another keyboard app. When you go to change the keyboard, it lists something in all Asian symbols.
I just deleted it and I have not noticed any difference with how blandroid runs.
The wonk was almost fixed on latest release of cm7. If you don't have the latest version, try it.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Nearly fixed isn't fixed. The problem is really dragging out and these stock ROMs are showing that its fixed with them. Wonking isn't the only issue at the moment either. There is still problems with the sound levels after docking the phone sometimes where its maximum level is halved etc.
CM is an ace project and I truly respect the guys and their efforts behind it, but CM7 is very buggy, and when it starts to affect the ability to take calls its hard to use it.
Oh! Thx for the reply. I got scared and ran back to cm7

What sort of battery life do you get and is there good support from the Dev?
I could go for no wonk
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I like!
Went for this until the CM stable kills the wonk; now I may not go back. I haven't used it for long enough to know about stability. I think of it as pure AOSP, but already rooted (and a just a few essential CM goodies).

So far, I haven't found anything missing I need.
And if you want a bit more eye candy and customization, just install launcher pro or adw.launcher from the market.
I give it thumbs-up!

[Q] 2.3.4 Restarting Issue [ RESOLVED ]

Hi,
first time caller, long time listener..
I have a question relating to a this post - [KERNEL] Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread Kernel in Ext4 - JVB, JVH - GT-I9000
however as I am not a regular poster I have to post here.. I hope this ends up where it's meant to!!
I have flashed JVP from Samfirmware and then applied kernel Stock+Ext4 Kernel JVP - Gingerbread 2.3.4 from post supplied above.
I am getting some random restarts of phone, has anyone else experienced this?!
thnx and great work!
Try a factory reset from recovery.
Sent from my GT-I9000T using XDA Premium App
I have tried this and am still experiencing random restarts, seems to be just after I swype to unlock screen
if very intermittent though so cannot be 100% that is the case.
I am using Launcher Pro Plus could this be related in anyway?!
same here. using 2.3.4 Cyanogenmod (#CM30)
this night my phone restarted on its own.
@ xda013: i do not use launcher pro (using adwlauncher).
i want to know why this restart happened. are there any logs on the phone? anyone knows?
I had the same problem using JVP 2.3.4, it got so bad that my phone was pretty much unusable. It would be fine for a few hours them BAM, every 30 seconds it would reboot when using it. Had to go back to Froyo....
Hopefully we get a more stable release of 2.3.4 soon!
I have removed a battery widget I had been using and the restarts have now stopped.
For others having issues like this I would recommend investigating what
3rd party apps you have installed to see if they may be causing the restarts!
What widget?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Sorry should have aded that!
The widget is Bonjour battery lite
I dont have enough posts to post a "real" link but you can cut and paste this
market.android.com/details?id=vader.batterydroid
I still like this widget and would recommend it to anyone using Froyo
but unfortunately is incompatible

I downloaded my apps. Tapatalk etc.
No problems.
will probs wait for a more stable release, I agree though, this is taking far too long, my phone will be on ebay before this is stable, if it every is. MIUI have lost the plot, although i was glad to see them move from CM to sammy but it hasnt been well implemented. CM is great for older phones but I dont see the point of using it on a new phone when nothing works properly.

Hmmm I've only encountered a couple of minor what you would term "instabilities"...
The Root permissions freeze up when you open an app requiring root, however you can work around this by going back to home opening the permissions app and then manually give the app root privelages.
Only other thing was I needed to download play store via the MIUI store.
MIUI V4 is awesome.

Lets hope miui jumps straight to 4.1.2 on the next beta test so we can have all the new features too.
This rom seems quite useable indeed, it is very smooth, very good for a beta, if this is the shape of things to come we could have a winner here. Pretty much everything seems to work one you get around the small permissions bug. Video player and cam performance all ok too. Let hope someone builds a decent ROM with this with all the usual mods + the latest 4.1.2 stuff.
I used Google translate to convert the Chinese beta testing page to English and i see there have been updates already. Unfortunately the beta is closed.... We need someone to give us a sneaky link to the newer versions.. Im too impatient hehe.

bring on the links people, i cant find any myself. Anyone else found any more bugs?
ROM does seem to have one of the usual problems I always find with MIUI, downloads hang on play, intermittent and seeming random with non wifi downloads.
FOR THOSE WISHING TO TRY THIS ROM.
bugs / isues so far:
- permissions crash, you have to set app manually.
- stock browser seems to be locked to chineese search.
- Heavilly stripped down, all samsung stuff removed.
- Had several phone freezes where rotation is enabled.
- No english play store installed, can be downloaded.
- No gapps.
- doesnt seem to play youtube videos from youtube app, probablly some region issues (plays them ok in browser)
General Useage:
- Video and camera work well.
- Phone / wifi / 3g GPS all working
- Supports latest Note 2 cam and gallery
- Themes seem to work fine.
- UI seems very smooth
- Seems generally very stable if rotation is disabled.

Thanks for your feedback.
Please also confirm if S-Beam/Nfc works well... this is a feature which I never got to work on MIUI Roms... when trying to transfer from my GS3 with MIUI rom to a GS3 with stock rom and vice versa...
First Public Release:

Please can you OP update the thread title to "first public release of MIUI Jellybeen 4.1.1", or something like that.
FOR THOSE WISHING TO TRY THIS ROM.
bugs / isues so far:
- No english play store installed, can be downloaded and works fine
- No gapps.
- no sapps
- banding more obvious than usual on lockscreen wallpaper.
- Fc's when coming from beta ROM.
General Useage:
All working that I can tell so far, camera and video fine, web also fine. UI is smooth, recommend full wipe for those coming from other miui versions including the beta release from the other day.
