[ruu + update.zip][MR1 aka First OTA] May 12th OTA - 1.13.605.7 - Thunderbolt Android Development

(DO NOT FLASH THE OTA or the SIGNED RUU ON A ROOTED (even if it is just ENG s-off) DEVICE)
This is the same as the OTA released on May 12th 2011 and is the MR1. Confirmed by me this morning. This file will wipe /data.
Not responsible for damage or losses caused by this firmware. Use at your own risk. Flash it was an RUU (like in the root guides), not using recovery. This will wipe your data.
This should not be flashed to a rooted device, as it will likely brick. Fair warning.
OTA update (only will apply to 1.12.605.6 stock) (NOT FOR ROOTED PHONES)

Nice...great job!

Edit: Dumb post, this is the untouched version. Sorry.

Just asking this for info, but will one be able to root/reroot after flashing this RUU?

Thanks for this jcase-

Nope, you have to name it PG05IMG.zip regardless, if not it won't work.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I just want to be clear on my options. I haven't rooted yet because i haven't really found a reason to. But if i absolutely have to in order to get this update i will, because i truthfully don't want to have to wait on VZW, because i have a feeling we'll still be waiting for a while. I'm not totally new to the rooting world, i've done it before on my G2.
So for this particular file, i need root correct?
Also if i try to install this is it gonna wipe all the data from my phone? Because honestly i rather if/when it was possible just upgrade the phone instead of having to start from scratch all over again.

non rooted wipe?
Will non rooted users' devices wipe after renaming and installing the .zip?

Nope. Just drag it to your SD and rename it to what is said above. Boot into the bootloader mode, hit the power button and it should do it automatically.

You have two options for a non-rooted phone:
Either download this file, rename it to PG05IMG.zip and copy to the root of your sdcard, use ADB to reboot to the bootloader and flash it. It's signed and untouched so you'll be upgraded to the latest version without having to root. However this will wipe your data.
Second option is to root, flash the radio only RUU, and use clockworkmod recovery to flash the stock, deodexed version of this rom, which will not wipe data. Details are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042004

No, you don't need to be rooted for this specific RUU file.
Use Astro to back up all your apps then drop this file to the SDcard, reboot to Hboot and let it do the magic.
Then go to market download Astro and install all the apps you backed up.

sorry if this has been asked but im new to a lot of this stuff and i wanted to put the vibrant6 rom that just came out on my vibrant and i was wandering that if i dont like it are just want to take it off i can do a restore from rom manager. I would of course use rom manager to backup my rom first. Also if i do this and keep it will i still get the OTA updates. It looks like this rom is keeping the stock kernal and that im sure if i changed that then i would not get the updates. I just a little nervouse about this. Thank you

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing!
I downloaded the vibrant6 zip from the 4shared that I was directed to and it took all of a second to download which I know was way to fast. I went to unzip it and it was unsuccessful I don't know why. So even if I wanted to do this I can't.

Obviously to install Vibrant 6 you need to flash stock rom, then flash vibrant6 with odin.
When I decided to go back to stock rom I flashed stock rom with odin then ran nandroid restore of a point I had made right before trying Vibrant6.
I flashed vibrant6 via clockwork and it worked just fine, you just have to have a stock rom with root for it to work properly
But does it need to be unzip first.

No it doesn't, its an update.zip.
OP just download the file and place it on the root of your internal SDcard. Reboot into recovery and flash it from there.
If you uninstall clockworkmod recovery you might get OTA updates but it depends on the rom you are using. With any alternative recovery you may be able to download the OTA, but it will not flash because of the recovery. I dont know why people worry about OTA updates! If its being sent OTA, I guarantee it will be on XDA months before! If you want OTAs, leave your phone stock.

Bloatware

Sorry if this has been discussed. I used unrevoked to get super user access to my incredible and now want to delete that stupid slacker radio, vcast, and VZW navigator crap. Do I have to install a rom? I like sense and don't like messing too much with the phone. I have been running stock software on it for almost a year and only just now rooted using unervoked to install a screenshot app. I hate those bloatware apps with a passion but have put up with them ... now that I have root access I can't uninstall using the normal means. Is there a workaround to get rid of them without installing a rom?

You can install custom ROMs that basically mirror the stock ROM but it has bloatware removed. Just look carefully.
The sticky at the top of the forum links to a lot of FAQ's like this one
In particular:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Incredible/Guides&Tutorials#Removing_Bloat
Even easier, you can use Titanium Backup to do it. Or Root Explorer. Or pretty much any app that can write to the system partition with SU access.
Oh and sorry I am using tapatalk and couldn't find the search feature to reply in thread about bloatware. Accept my apology.
Or, if you don't mind wiping. You can install Nothing Special.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976933
It's a stock rom with bloat already removed.

It's almost impossible to brick, it's become so easy to flash roms, root, etc.
Just factory reset if you want to go back. Kinda the point of flashing is to get the latest greatest before it is released. Oh, all all those goodies I am sure they will omit.

Yes, you can but it's a pain in the butt. Go to this thread and then download the original stock firmware. Make sure USB debugging is turned on also.
To install the file you need to have HTC Sync installed and running. Double-click the file and it should recognize the phone and start installing after some input from you.
If you get a USB error, try booting into the bootloader and installing the exe in the same manner.
I just did this last night because I was in the same situation. It works.
Now you can re-root.

It's still the same update. Whether I installed it through an OTA update or from the bootloader doesn't matter.
You guys can get into the bootloader right? Take one of those modified "official" updates, rename it to PG06IMG.zip and flash it from the bootloader. Then do my first post and flash to Froyo so you can root again. May be worth a shot.

Best thing to do --- currently 1.8.3

Okay I want to update to gingerbread from what I have currently 1.8.3. Should I just do the OTA update and then root and unlock the bootloader? As I understand it, this will disallow me to ever revert back to 1.8.3 and below. Smart or not smart?
Do you actually want to unlock your bootloader?
Yes ... I think I am just asking the downside, besides the obvious, to using the OTA update instead of another version.
Do you have any P-Roms installed, like GladiAtrix, or GingerBlur?
What about any hacks, do you have the Webtop hack, or anything like that?
Doing the OTA if you already know that you want to unlock your bootloader is putting yourself at unnecessary risk of hard bricking by flashing an SBF lower than 2.3.4
Go ahead and unlock now and then install recovery and flash one of the gingerbread ROMs in the dev thread. I don't think it's a good idea to OTA update if you plan on unlocking because of the risk of hard-bricking your device.
don't bother with the OTA.
unlock your bootloader, install CWM, and install the CWM gingerbread file by kennethpenn. it's the official version with certain tweaks and mods. that's all you need to do.

It depends on the version of cwm you have installed, the one from romracer is ideal as the backup and restore functions work correctly.
If you have cwm installed then there is no reason to do anything with an sbf really, all of the released versions are available as flashable zip files, just like the roms that are out
Upgrade Question
Hi,
I also have 4.1.8.3
2.2.2
Baseband N_01.77.15P
Kernal 2.6.32.9
Gladiatrix 3 b0.2
Initially used Tenfar's CWM. However, I did click to install the CWM from Rom Manager when it became available. I'm not sure if this would have messed anything up.
I'm trying to upgrade to one of the newer ROMS, such as Cherry3.14, what is the best way to upgrade?
I use Titanium Backup. Can I simply download Cherry3.14 from Rom Manager and do that install? Are there kernel issues I need to address first? I have read through all the noob stuff, but am slightly confused as to where exactly in the process I need to continue.
Ideally, I would like to be able to restore all my apps, contacts, settings, etc.
Thanks,
Chris
dont use rom managers cwm, it does not function correctly last I knew. romracers version is the go-to version for the atrix right now.
other than that, follow the instructions for the respective rom and you should be fine
as far as transfering info from one rom to the next I believe the best option for that is titanium backup (correct me if I am wrong on that someone)
Thank you diedemus.
So I should download romracer's version and install that on top prior to following the instructions in the Cherry3.14 post?
I won't have any issues relating to wrong kernal, baseband, etc?

I hold out hope that someone can unpack and build a rooted flash out of this. Otherwise, it's going to be just like the leak in that once you flash it you're left sitting around waiting for someone to do something...anything with it.
Mad props to the OP for putting this up. This should definitely get a ball rolling since we now have the FULL PC10IMG ROM flash version of the newest build/GB available for the G2.
Interesting too - the newest stuff (tp's) in that archive are 7/29/2011 - soooo fresh
Thanks for uploading this file. I updated my G2 last week. Kinda odd the update zip I used was only 73.1 MB and this one is 131.MB almost doubled. What is the differance between the two files. It seemed to update just fine from 2.2 to 2.3.4. Everything is running just smooth. Unless there are files and apps that I might be missing. I might give this a try again. Currently running 2.3.4 unrooted with S-ON. Still waiting for someone who can fully root the OTA 2.3.4 with S-OFF. Anyone know about the update zip that was leaked last week? Should I flash this one instead or keep what I have?

We already got a rooted flash of this we need it tweaked up with someone who knows what there doing. Seems we have little development for our phones anymore so I'm not holding out that it will be soon.

The update.zip is an update from 2.2 to 2.3.4. This PC10IMG.zip is the whole operating system. You can be on the first OS that shipped with the phone (2.2 but before wifi calling) and still use this file. To use the update.zip, you must be running the update that included wifi calling.
PC10IMG.zip will factory reset your phone.
Just like blink said, this is the full system image, the update essentially just includes the updated code not the entire image.
My hope is that this will help the developers intigrate this into their roms.

lulwot? This is THE first I've seen of the PC10IMG - full ROM from the T-Mobile store sdcard update. If there is a rooted flash of this please provide the link. Like yesterday! ROFL
Otherwise, all we have or have had is a rooted franken-build flashable mashup of the OTA and whatever other stuff.
Like I said, if you got a link to the full rooted flash of THIS rom, I'm all ears
Again - huge props to @atlp99 who made good saying he would bring the in-store copy ASAP. Well done!
PS - @atlp99 I saw your thread and it looks like they deleted it. Regrettably unless your posting CM7 crap or some variation of that or some Sense rom, they seem to delete new threads.
@RM, question, why not just delete the Vision stuff off xda? Or, alternatively quit deleting **** you pinhead.
Mirror!
Does anybody have a mirror download for this? I cant seem to download it from radidshare

Cool can't wait. What rooted version of what stock rom are you talking about? The PC10img.zip that we are talking about here ( I hope so) or the stock 2.2?

Sorry im a newbie..do i just rename the file PC10IMG.ZIP and put it on my sd card, boot up into the bootloader and go from there? I did that with the earlier PC10IMG.ZIP 2.3.4 that was posted on this thread..can it override that??

No no, what this is is a stock 2.3.4 image created from the PC10IMG that will not overwrite hboot, will not kick you back to stock recovery, will not update your radio and is rooted.
Just flash it with CWM.
just wanted to say this worked to upgrade the leaked 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 . you lose your apps but that's not a big deal
thanks!!! i had the leaked 2.3.3 and was gonna go through the painful process of downgrading then upgrading to 2.3.4
but this file saved all that work! wuhu!
What is the diff between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4?
