[Q] Surround driving me crazy! - Surround General

Hi guys,
I did the stupid mistake of pressing Flahs instead DIAG when I was unlocking a surround with XTC Clip. Now it's stucked on HBOOT mode, I have read yesterday all day long how to solve this issue flashing it from the sd card. I downloaded this rom : "RUU_Surround_Cingular_US_1.03.502.07_Radio_5.51.0 9.06_22.30.50.09U_by_ansar"
I extracted and copied the nhb file to the sd card along with a Mondriand Gold Card that its the one I use always to unlock that phone, but don't know how to rename that .nhb file, I mean, what name put on that file, I have only seeing examples with the desire HD and other ones but not with the surround. And whenever I try to flash it it says No Image foud...
Can any body help me with this?
Ill appreciate.
Regards

Nobody can help me?

And nobody can give a damn suggestion???
Great community!

Thanks everybody for the huge non help to me. I found out how to bring it back o live
Hope no one of this forum have to pass by this bad experience I had...
Regards

Since nobody knew how to help, why don't you post up what the solution is so you can benefit others that may have the same problem?
Edit: I take it you were trying to sim unlock it using the goldcard/flashfrom SD method I read about?

I dont understand when you said "you take it to me"
Method is simple, just use the Y cable and it will said, no image file... the plug in to the PC and the PC will recognize it (in USB HOST MODE it wont recognize it) And then just flash it with @ansar Surround flash file and thats it.
And yeap, the issue began when I try to unlock it using goldcard method with XTC clip and selected Flash instead DIAG.
Regards

try rename the file to MONDIMG.nbh

Seek advice on NO BOOTLOAD Screen

My MDA was unable to get back to bootload after a unsuccessful ROM upgrading. Is it possible to replace the ROM (hardware) so that I can save my MDA?
I tried the Power on key and softreset to reset it but only return to a messive screen.
Pls help. Thanks
cris...
you dont need to replace the hardware rom!!
try runing the upgrade program again, it sometimes picks up where it left off. if that dont work, try the SD card method.
i'd go into more details, but all that info is here in these forums already.
if u still need help though, contact me, and i'll try to help you.
good luck
Dear Ntabikha,
Thanks v much!
However, I tried the upgrade program many times and the decktop just said the computer cannot recognise the device.
So, I think method 1 is not possible.
For method two, I will try to put the nk.nbf file into my SD card and put it in the device and see whether the MDA can pick up the ROM. Will let you know whether it is successful.
BTW, when the screen is on, it only appears some fuzzy horizontal lines and two small empty boxes, have you seen this before?
Chris
yes, i had the same fuzzy lines. i fixed That problem via the SD card method.
just remember that, you have to write the nbf file to SD card, not just copy it to SD card
dont laugh, i did that mistake at first
good luck
How can I "write" it to the card?
I thought I only copy the file to the card through a SD reader.
Well, I know now, use rom kitchen to cook the rom and use osimagetool to copy the nb1 file into a sd card.
All i need to do next is to insert into the MDA and press power button together with softreset key for several times until successful....
Dear ntabikha,
I am still unable to obtain the bootloading screen of my MDA after inserting the SD with nb1 file written by xdatool. I tried many times power button and soft reset simultaneously (more than 20times) and the screen are still full of messy lines and 2 big empty boxes.
Can you help please? What is the fix broken bootloader in the xdatool?
I really did search around the forum but still can't be able to get back the bootloader screen. Pls help.
Chris

I'm wondering if you could not see bootloading screen , how could you use SD card to restore OS and bootloader ?
No, there is no bootloading screen at all.
I took the MDA out to a repair shop and they said that is a hardware failure. And they don't have the stock to replace it.
But I don't believe that cause I was just downloading the OS. It shouldn't hurt the hardware that much.....

I fixed couple such phones "horizontal lines and two small empty boxes" due to failure upgrading (all flash ROM messed up).
You have to use hardware flash ROM writer to wire the flash ROM pin to write bootloader and CE directly to chip.
I can help you to fix the problem (I'm in Canada, my email is [email protected])
Hi, I have similar trouble. My boss upgrade his MDA TMO (Austria) to official TMO version of OS and now it coming only to splash screen. MDA doesn't sync through cradle, doesn't seems to be charged, and I cannot enter BOOT mode for flashing ROM from SD card.
Is there any chance to fix it by myself?
Thanx, Ivan
TO CGIGATE: If you have any solution, can you post it here? Or it is so dangerous for nonexpert people?

If you don't have a working OS and a working bootloader, the only solution is hardware solution. You have to wire the flash chip directly to the flash ROM writer ...
yes, it is dangerous for nonexpert people
Thank you CGIGATE for quick answer. Anyway I wrote you an email, could you be so kind and send me informations how I can do that, or where I can find these steps?[/quote]

My XDA stopped responding HELP PLZ!!!!!

I tried to upgrade my XDA from version 3.something to 4..05 burned at http--kitchen.romanweb.com-kitchen-index.php
I followed the steps on the install shield until i got the message on my display:
_____________________
Upgrading...
It will take about 5 minutes.
Warning: Do not remove USB/Serial connection or power adapter from the Pocket PC.
After that the connection was terminated by itself and the message above remained on the display. I tried soft reseting and the other reset too, but i still get the same message and i cannot do anything from now on.
Can somebody please HELP me to fix it.
Special Thanks in advance!
method ?
can you tell us which upgrade method you used ?
usb or bootloader ?
if you used usb try using the bootloader method ... you'll porbably succeed !
good luck
Decebal
i used the usb method.
can you explain me please what is the bootleader method and how to do it. i have done the hard reset a several times and the screen gets worse and worse and now it is only shoeing black lines
step by step:
1. first you need a SD reader/writer
2. using OSImageTool.exe write the nbf to your SD
3. reboot pressing the power button
4. it will automatically rewrite your flash
After this ... hopefully ... you're done !
is this SD reader/writer a memory card and if it is, how am i going to copy this file on it if the xda is not responding.
Or should i buy another device with which i should copy it.
thanks in advance!
you need a SD card for your XDA and a writer for it (you can borrow from someone with an appropiate digital photo camera)
then with the programs and ROMs available here you create something like a rom floppy and start your XDA keeping the power button down
then it will automatically reflash your ROM
It all worked great!
Thank you very much for the help!!!
I have the same issue here with My TMO xda and i tried the suggested steps but I am not able to get this working. I am not getting any power or response from my unit so its not getting to any stage where I can load a bootimage from the SD card. PLease help. Any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks a lot to everyone how helped me!!
it really worked that way with the SD card.
To anyone having this problem, search the forum for the correct steps you should do to boot from the SD card and you will be fine!

Help with PW10B1

Hello all,
Yes I’m sure your sick of hearing this: I'm new to all this. I picked up a T-Mobile PW10B1. It has Wallaby bootloader V.15
Rom V3.14.40
Radio V 6.18
Not sure what other info would be of help.
I have downloaded a lot of the tools,(maybe to much). Cant seem to make it all work. When i try to use the XDA2 after following the
instrucks i cant get XPiss to see the USB device. Don’t know if I’m even in the right place. Any advise would be appreciated.
read this?

Thanks for the quick responce. I'm trying it now and unsure of the destanation. If i go to the folder i created on my HD dosnt seem to work. Do i need to create an empty .nb1 ?
PS: another question when i install a cin/att sim in it it asks for sim lock/ sid: dos it mean it unlocked??
source is the nbf file distination is the sd card...
You lost me Dude. This dosnt have an SD slot only SIM, and it wont let me copy to my HD.
sim is in the side sd is in the buttom

Thank you, I'll install one and try again.

I think i have finally made a brick

I did something really silly 2 days ago.
Playing with the HD, i was looking at the sd card and saw old 1.14 spl as an nbh file, and thought, i think i might go back o scratch and start fresh. So i knew running 1.56 roms, that i would get the green screen and thought, well i know how to fix that, and proceeded to update the spl first--- what a mistake that turned out to be.
Now i hear u say just hook it up to activesync-- well there is my second problem- activesync wont see the phone in any of 3 usb 2.0 ports on my laptop.
Put it into bootloader when hooked up, and i get the tri color screen and it says
Blac120 32M RUUNBH
SPL-1.14.0000
MicroP-Blackstone(LED) V6
Upgrade Rom Code error
Please try again
USB doesnt show at the bottom where it usually says Serial.
When i remove the usb cable, it says serial, and when i plug it back in, it wont disappear.
The phone will not do anything except go into bootloader screen everytime i turn it on.Even just by pressing on button, with sd dard removed. Once on, i have to remove the battery to turn it off.
My only option is if there is a stock rom with signed RUU nbh file that might trick it when i try uploading vioa sd card.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Very appreciating Frank in Australia
"My only option is if there is a stock rom with signed RUU nbh file that might trick it when i try uploading vioa sd card."
You answered your own question. If you've got the bootloader, you don't have a brick. Do that, and you should be fine.

Yeah i understand this, but what i really need to know is the stock rom- is it possible to download it as a Signed Ruu-NBH file so i can upload via sd card?
Thanks for your response
Still looking and trying to find it
Frank
I am not sure but i think you can extract the nbh file from the original htc stock rom.exe file.i do not want to say anything stupid but maybe after that you can update from the card.Someone correct me if i am wrong.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes you can extract the nbh file from the shipped rom. On your pc, right click on the shipped rom.exe and select "Extract Files.....". Then rename the extracted RUU_signed.nbh file to BLACIMG.nbh, copy to your sd card and flash. Good luck.
disable <allow usb connections> in the connection settings of active sync.. this might be the reason..of thd not being detected on usb connection in bootloader mode!
use MTTY .. erases almost everything on ram except bootloader..
or u can flash a stock rom
Thank you everyone for your advice. I have now managed to extract nbh from stock 1.14 rom, wwe as i need, and it goes 1 step further by saying loading, checking and then an error or 020002 appears and says not allow
. So i wonder if this means hspl needs to be re-installed???

[Q] How to use a Goldcard

Oke guys here's my queston.
First look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939763&page=3
My radio is probably bricked, so now i'm trying to use a goldcard:
I managed to get the CID of my SD card.
Reversed the CID of the 2 Gb is: 009b000a6daf00804732305553445303
With a little help of this forum i now have a goldcard and put an original LEOIMG on the goldcard.
Still no solution, the bootscreen flashes off/on 1 time and then returned into bootscreen. No attempt of flashing seen. What went wrong??
Thanks in advance!
first the obvious questions, (quite often its somethign dead simple) ,
you extracted ruu_signed.nbh and didnt just rename the whole .exe to .nbh?
How did you write the .img to the card? ? you
How did you get the CID?
let me have the two CIDS (dont reverse them or anything, just as you got them) and an email address and ill make you an image for each disk, that way you have three to try.

on a normal sd card, this usually indicates either wrong stock rom being used (sure the rom you are using is for your region AND carrier?((if locked)), or an sd card that isn't set up right (freshly format it, FAT32 )
It might point to the goldcard image being wrong, or incorrectly written to the card.
I extracted the original HTC HD2 dutch rom, took of the ruu_signed.nbh, copied it to the goldcard en renamed it to LEOIMG.nbh
I got the CID by using a working adroid phone together with the tutorial from "theunlocker.com" (sdk/adb-app en hex-app)
The 2 onreversed CID's are:
1gb
035344535530314780606ca6f10079a6
2gb
03534453553032478000af6d0a009b8e
emailaddress: [email protected]
thanks!
Hey Magazijn if your problem is not a hardware issue then you have the right guy working with you now. Samsamuel will have you up and running again I am sure of it. Just remember though if you are using USB to flash and not SD card then always put your HD2 into bootloader and wait for the USB tben flash this is a trusted method. And don't forget to click Samsamuel's thanks button when he gets you going. Peace.
heh, cheerleader fees in the post.
@OP sorry for the delay, theres a step by step to double check you are writing teh image correctly HERE
Thanks for the quick solution samsamuel, but still the same problem.
After Boot the screen builds up again in boot and that's it.
So i think it's an hardware radioproblem with can't be fixed.
Should a hardware repair help me out?
Last question i used original dutch LEOIMG (winmo 6.5), can i use another (android of winmo) rom?
If yes, which would you prefer.
Again thank for your help, i appreciate it.
hmm, not sure what to suggest. As i said b4, a brief 'loading' then back to bootloader usually indicates the wrong rom. Are you sure your phone is an unbranded dutch phone? did you download that rom with your serial number from the htc website? (it will only let you download correct roms if you use serial)
This shouldnt matter if the goldcard is working, but if you KNOW its the correct rom, it can be discounted as the cause.
