[INFO] Transformer Expansys price - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hello fellow xda-ers,
I'm interested in the Asus transformer, and since I live in Canada, I decided to do a Google search for "Asus Transformer Canada" to see if anything would come up on availability.
The first result returned a link to Expansys' Canadian site, which listed the Transformer at:
$829.99 without keyboard [tablet only]
$929.99 with keyboard
"Unreal!", I thought. I then decided to check out Expansys' US site to see if the prices would be listed way lower. [Electronics are often overpriced in Canada]
US prices listed there are as follows:
$824.99 without keyboard [tablet only]
$919.99 with keyboard
expansys-usa.com/s.aspx?search=asus%20transformer
Thought I'd humor you guys with that info.
Cheers.

Playing with prices is kind of normal with expansys. They usually play with novel products that still have not arrived to markets.
If you buy, i wont, enjoy the double price jejeje

This might be a weird question to you, but do you have both qwerty and azerty keyboards in Canada ?
If only qwerty, how do you make accents and special french caracters like ùàçèé ?
All these questions because i would be interested in buying one from the US, but I wouldn't a qwerty keyboard.
At first I had planned on getting the slate only in the US and the dock back in France, but it sounds like the dock is going to cost 150€ if we do not take the bundle ...
ive bought a lot of stuff from pccyber, they are a local here in ottawa with 4 stores and 2 in montreal. i've never order anything from their website though. i wouldnt put too much on their release date on their website, i've bought my last two asus eee pc from them and they are horrible for stock and never know when they are suppost to get new shipments of stock. i had to check all 4 locations to find the one i wanted even though their website said it was suppost to be in stock so i don;t have much confidence in their site. i only bought the eee pc from them because they are the only local store that carried them and had a decent price. Also seems fishy that they are the only retailer in canada taking preorders...
anyone know if futureshop will be carrying this? i assume so since best buy is suppost to be carrying it and they own futureshop.
edit: i just noticed they changed the release date again to april 25, thats 3 times now.

French Canadians (i'm one of them) uses Qwerty keyboards. The same layout, with minor differences. And you can often buy "bilingual" keyboards: french and English characters are printed on the keys.
Hope this helps!
Actually, i haven't checked if the transformer keyboard can be ordered in Canadian Bilingual (refered as fr_ca)
I called both the local PCCyber stores here in Montreal. One guy had no idea when is this coming ("It might come tomorrow and I would not know today") and the other one said it'll come end of next month! When I said but your website says coming April 25, he boldly said "it's wrong".
*Sigh*
I'm travelling internationally on the 29th and this would have been the perfect travel companion but I have little to no hope of getting my hands on Asus Transformer
Edit: Although I should mention, 2-3 days ago when I talked one of the Ottawa store reps, he was confident he'll get it on 18th. He even said he knows I'm in Montreal but instead of reserving one for shipping online, if I can come to Ottawa and put my money down, he can give me one on the 18th in store. Good luck fellow Ottawa residents!
Amazon.ca orders are suppose to ship 5/9.
Amazon.ca is not listing the EEE Pad Transformer at the moment, though I understand it did at one point (and was quickly taken down). So I doubt any release date from their page is reliable.
I'm holding on for the Asus, as the Xoom is (now) overpriced and I don't want to wait anxiously for a software update to unlock the SD Card slot. And I love the keyboard dock too, hopefully it will come out soon after (it's a big part of their marketing after all).
LOL,
Available in Canada before it's available in the US.
Interesting marketing our friends at ASUS are employing....

If this ends up happening, I think it is because they do not have enough supply for the US and don't want bad press for not being able to keep up with demand.

While I would love for this to be true, I wouldn't place to much hope on PcCybers preorder page and wait for official news from Asus. It seems to me like they are just fishing for early preorders even though they have no idea when its coming out.
It certainly does seem like even Asus is not sure of when they can launch. It's getting frustrating..

5/9 is the ship date for those that got an order in with amazon.ca
I'm sure Bestbuy will have them in store first like the ep121.
Not interested in the keyboard for $150,
but at $75 maybe, just really dont see much of a need for it.
It's gone from PCCyber's site.

There's a pre-order with no pricing and no release date on expansys.ca. Sounds more like a "we'll notify you once we know something".

That is sort of reassuring. As much as I'd like to pre-order it online, I'd rather do it in-store (same as what I did for the Xoom) so I can be there as soon as they open

Asus Australia Hi Hugo, please kindly noted that the ones selling in USA are slightly different from what we are going to sell here. The ones in USA haven't got back camera and GPS, hence the price gap.

I have never seen a reference that the devices in the US are different to the anywhere else. Looks like we have to look very closely what we buy.
EDIT:
Not according to the US press release - the Transformer in that press release does have a back camera and a GPS:
http://usa.asus.com/news.aspx?N_ID=NrkcfmDMc162TlqA
Hugo: Can you please ask Asus Australia where they get that information from??
Yes, we should rip them a new one for this as I am sure that our friends from the US are not aware of this.
I have never seen any reference about hardware differences for different regions...

International warranty FTW!
The biggest problem is that no one seems to have any stock...
It was supposed to have launched today in AU...
ASUS Australia is a FAIL!!!
No store has stock, and most of them don't even have it listed on their system.
What I think it's even worse is that salespersons from big retailers like Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi never even heard of it before.
Everybody knows I hate Apple with a passion, but at least they know how to launch a product.
ASUS FAIL!!!
Weren't you going to get yours overseas?

Yes, I am waiting for it.
But I would have liked to see one in person, maybe even be able to play with one for a minute.
I'll probably have mine before any retailer has it in stock in AU...
And I don't like liars, that's why me and others are "spamming" ASUS AU Facebook page, not just for the outrageous price difference, but for this fake launch.
Lol. I don't know if they were lying per se. I'd attribute it to misinformation and a poorly managed division.

[Q] Transformers at Best Buy

Has anyone's Best Buy had the Transformer on display? I've been to two of mine and have not seen any.
I'm trying to decide between this and the Galaxy 10.1 but I can't find any Transformers to help me make my decision.
Has anyone had any luck with other retailers having these on display?
I don't know where you live but in Virginia the HH Gregg stores have them on display and functional.
I was at the Honolulu best buy yesterday and they had one on display. I had been waiting to try one in person before making a decision, and although their in store wifi was super spotty, I was very impressed. Although when I checked the settings menus, the demo TF was running 3.0.1 and the demo galaxy tab 10.1 was running 3.1.

MicroCenter If u have any near u.
I was at Best Buy yesterday near Nashville, TN and asked about one. The salesman said they didn't have any and as I was leaving he caught me and found 1, (16gb) in the box. I don't know why they didn't have it on display. He did open it up, turn it on and let me look at it but would not pull the plastic off. Said they would not carry the 32 gb. I just bought one of the 32 gb at Amazon for $479.00
I'm heading over to the US in a few days, and was thinking I might use the opportunity to pick up either an Asus EEE / Samsung GT 10.1, or possibly an iPad2. Even once you add in sales tax (Mass.) and credit card exchange rates, they still look to be about ~£100 less than the equivalent in the UK.
Hopefully best buy will have some stock when I visit, but I hear that the service you get there is not too great generally?
or try COMPUSA they seem to have it in stock in S Florida
If you have frys by you they have em on display
None at best buy in york Pa. In fact every time i ask about them they point me to the acer tablet. Stupid non informed best buy employees.

Asus Transformer Pad in India!

Hi all, I am looking for Asus Transformer Pad in India. I am not sure if this was available yet, but I saw some Indian users in the section. So, I think it was available and can any one post some details here?
Thank you!
EDIT:
I bought the new iPad 16gb+3g and I think it was worth for 36k and I already have One X, so I think it was a better tablet for me with a different OS.
Hi ...remember you from wp7 section of hd2 forums
Tf 300 Not launched in India..no estimated date too....got mine with a cousin from the US...bought at best buy..399 $ for tab and 149 $ for keyboard dock plus taxes...depending on the state in US..expect 8-9% tax...
You can save 50 $ if bought at microcenter store.
Great tab..it is not difficult to find a friend or relative who lives in US and is coming home next week
Well if you need tf201 (prime), it is available in India but is exorbitantly priced...rs 49,950 for tab plus dock ... if you get it from US, it will still be a 10k cheaper

I don't have that choice, I don't have friends in US, but I have in Canada. But it wasn't yet released in Canada, even if it was released I have to pay some 20% extra in terms of tax. Checking with some dealers in Hyd and heard they have it, but need to confirm it.

Sure bro! I am going to get it tonight, need to see it directly whether it was from US or India. Price was 27k for 32gb only wifi. The dealer is saying that there is another 32gb version with 3g aswell. I am unaware of that.
Yes..it seems the tf300 TG (3G) model seems to have been released in some parts...well seems like 3000 rupees more for the tab, but then if you can't get it from US...that is OK.

Today, I missed the chance to get one. Dealer said the stock isn't received, I don't have much details about that. I have to wait until morning. But, I am thinking about 16gb only wifi, cause it will cost me less. Any way it got a micro sd slot right? So I don't need to go for 32gb.

I think it was worth, cause it was cheap and best in hardware. How do u plan to import?
^^ My sister is coming home from USA in the second week of July. She will be getting it for me.
In any case, I am still not entirely decided which tablet to get. I have a budget of $800 and was planning on the Transformer Prime, but decided against it due the WiFi/GPS issues that it is plagued with. So considering the other Tegra 3 tablets namely the Transformer TF300 32GB + Dock, Acer Iconia A510 32GB and the Toshiba Excite 32GB
I think, among all the tablets TF300 is the best and cheapest. But I am not sure about build quality cause it was plasticy. Some one already using this one has to confirm

May be you can wait for infinity...but then with dock...it will cost a little more

Plastic is good...it helps in better wifi and GPS signals...textured back helps in good grip and no fingerprints ...some stupid fellows feel that the plastic flexes when you press hard...of course, else it would be brittle and break easily...the Tf 300 is amazing piece of hardware..
Also suggest to get the 32gb..costs only 20 $ more...the more memory the better especially when you want to play tetra 3 games ..good games take up around 500mb or more...still suggest getting also the dock...it is totally worth it for the extra battery, extra SD card, and full USB port..you can connect Ethernet adapter, mouse,Xbox or PS controllers, hard drives for your movies...and routine pen drives

update to latest firmware .29 if you haven't and then try these:
1. if you use chrome browser, uninstall it...use opera mobile or ics+ browser from market
if no use, then
2. try cold boot
still not happy?
3. last ...try hard reset

I think, I have to stop posting this kind of posts in the thread, cause some moderator will lock the thread otherwise.

Searching the cheapest euro price.

Hi
I thought that we could make one thread to post where to buy in europe with CHEAP prices and post links.
For example 650 it is not a cheap price. 570 like this shop looks fine instead.
http://notebooksektor.de/shop/produ...rble-white.html&trackref=1000&trackpid=109288
But who knows if will have a lot of stock or the first week, so if you know other stores who sell the phone cheap, please share for all of us, the faster adoption, the faster we will have kernels, roms, accesories, and so.
I will try to update here with a list.
No need to link to individual stores, they're all listed here and updated regularly :
http://geizhals.at/eu/?in=&fs=n7100
And yes notebooksektor.de is still the cheapest.
It's funny how you manage to mix the word cheap with the best phone in the world sentence lol
