Is anybody else using the LEAKED GINGERBREAD ROM on their EVO? Thoughts? Opinions??? - EVO 4G General

I've been using it for 2 days and so far I have nothing but good things to say about it. The battery life so far has been top notch. My phone has currently been off the charger for 15 hours and 2 minutes, and I still have 41% battery left. It's very responsive. Everything works on my HW003 Evo. The one problem I have discovered so far is that when I record a video, once I'm done it force closes the video app. But the good thing is that the recorded video is saved intact and I can re-open my camcorder app immediately if I want to record another video. So it's really not a big issue. Other than that everything else sems to be working very smoothly. I have Go Launcher EX running on top of it and everything is super-fast. So far I'm really loving this leaked ROM. What about you guys(and girls)???

Well, I took it off the charger just after midnight last night, and I woke up at 7am. So 7 of those hours it was resting. But since then I've been to the gym and listened to music the whole time, sent a few texts, received about 30-40 texts from twitter, browsed the web for some of the links, viewed some android central youtube videos, updated some apps in the Market, made 2 phone calls, etc.. The point is with my last ROM and kernel, normally I'd be at about 15% battery by now.. There seems to be a noticeable improvement. But I posted this thread because I'm wondering if it's my imagination or if anyone else is having similar experiences.

Asop ROMs do typically use less battery than sense ROMs

Pretty decent
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.

Where's a link for it? I wanna try this out and put in my .02!

Fyi my g1 only lasted 4-6 hours on a charge using stock battery, I turned off the radio and let it sit in my sock drawer it stayed on in stand by for nearly a week on that same battery.
These threads bragging about battery life are just BS, im sure if I want all day not using my evo I'd also get 16+ hours on a stock. I typically get a good 14-16 hours using my 3000 mAh battery and being constantly on my phone.
I noticed a lump in my battery last night (SBC maybe?) And now im back on the stock battery, this is my 3rd time today its back on the charger, my point? None but these threads don't mean a thing unless there's any really useful information to significantly extend the battery, especially to us users who do use our phones and not just let them sit idol all day.

If anyone says a phone can last more than 4-5 hours, then using a phone to them is turning the screen on to check the time, then quickly turning it off.
Anyways link? I wanna use Sense with Gingerbread.

He is obviously using his phone because 40 percent of it is the display

Last I checked there's a few in the development forum, but they are ports and a work in progress and have a lot of things broken. As son as there is a stable gingersense im all over that.

I loaded the leaked 2.3.3/sense 1.0 that tmartin put together. It is 100% functional for me. Some people were having issues with the screen staying at 100% brightness, and the camera acting strange. I think that may have been a variety of factors, wipe quality, hardware number, and screen type.
The rom was flawless for me. I have a 3500 battery and used my phone like a crackhead for 15.5 hours before the battery died. I was web surfing most of the time, and reading the leak thread that hit over a 1000 posts in a day before the op locked it up.
I am now using the misfit gingersense rom, and it is working 100% for me, apart from some very minor black on black text when word suggestions pop up using swype.

I flashed the tmartin 2.3.3 sense leak as well. I liked it for the most part...but it wasn't anything really special...some menu changes and it did have the nice fast boot feature. Sense was still a little sluggish when scrolling through home screens. I flashed back to cm7....what I do miss is the stable 4g that I do not get with cm7 final.

Wtf are you talking about!?
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.

This post was not just about battery life. That was just one aspect of it. I posted it to get feedback from others who are also running the ROM put together by TMartin from the leak. I still don't get why people get so funny acting when it comes to others talking about how long their battery lasts. If you don't like it or don't care to hear about it then move on, as it may not be for you. But others may be interested to see if it improves their battery life. Remember, every post here isn't catered just for you. The world is bigger than just you. Anyway, I use my phone quite regularly, whether it be browsing the web, viewing video, texting, listening to music, etc.
I also forgot to mention that I'm using the stock battery.
For those who asked where they can find the download, here ya go. It's linked in the first post:

Dude, your battery might have cancer. You should do a battery self-exam at least once every month. It's best that you do it in the shower so that the battery can hang low. Make sure you roll your battery through your fingers to check for any abnormal growth or lump.
If you feel a lump or that the shape of your battery has changed at all, don't hesitate to see your doctor. Remember, catching battery cancer in the earliest stages gives you a much better chance at survival!

I layed on a flat surface and noticed it rocked a little bit, so yea it has a slight deformity. Dr. Abu ghraib can have a look at it tomorrow.

I flashed it and been running it for a few hours now. Its alright, nothing ground breaking or impressive. Im kinda disappointed about no vertical battery or the on/tv off effect like the asop roms have. I thought I was gonna see that in gingersense. No big deal though, its same ol sense on gingerbread. I did notice some improvements in the browser. Fair enough, its cool, but still a little buggy.
Screen dimming works for me BTW, on my 0003.
Tomorrow will be the real test as far as the battery goes.

What bugs have you noticed?

~15hrs life with display on 3 hours. Lots of text. Mostly using wifi ..3g for 2 hours. Lots of texts and ebuddy and some facebooking

Depending on the battery size assuming you have the standard: Yes, mostly due to the WiFi.
I don't know why the CDMA cell radio eats soo much of it up.
I'm currently at 62 hours of up time (came off the charger at the same time) with about 3.25 hours of actual screen on time. Mostly on wifi just as you. Ive had 6 phone calls, many text messages, and some basic screwing around on the phone and I'm only down to 36% battery so far. Stock red battery (1500 or 1600mah, whichever it is)

Yup. I kind of want to plug back in so I can transfer some stuff on and off the sd card, but I'm holding off because I want to see how far I can drag this out. Midnight tonight will be the 3 day mark.

my own, Jiminy V, but you probably won't be really interested in it unless you're on Cricket as it has all Sprint stuff yanked out. However, the Reengineered 3.70 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878670) I would imagine would give you the same results as it was I used as my base rom.
I should try that out.. I always use cm6 and Zendroid bfs avs 844 245 smartass

I unplugged Sunday morning at 4:30 am. Monday at noon I was at 50%.
Now I really only used the phone to check facebook a few times, some emails, and what time the game started. Light texting and a few short calls.
The battery maintains very very well when you don't use it.
I am on latest fresh.
The sleep time on that kernel is great

about 4 hours. a little over an hour a day. I'm not glued to my phone like some of you guys are. It stays in my pocket and I pull it out to check the time or send a text message. It gets hundreds of 10-15 second bursts each day.
I'll admit that for the sake of seeing how far I could get the battery to stretch I haven't been sitting around watching youtube and playing angry birds all day....

Hah indeed, I lasted through a 3 day weekend drinking binge on one charge and it was amazing. Probably not half of that for screen on time. Its been said and I find it to be true, when not in use it does hold its own in terms of a charge.
I can't even imagine what my battery stats would be if I played games or watched videos, tbh. 24 hours with 3 or more hours of screen on time is good enough for me.
Had to ask, was only curious

Its all based on usage. I tend to get 5-10 hours of usage (depending on what I am doing) That can be over a 12, 24, 48 hour period.
From what I see, its really based on how much you use it, and what you are doing.
On a full charge of the 1500 stock battery, I get 5.25 hours of video playback watching movies on a plane.

A different kind of SBC kernel thread

I've seen lots of threads about what SBC does, why it's bad, yadda yadda... but the point of this one isn't about that. I understand what it is and I understand the risks, and I'd like some input from people that have still been using them.
The first time I used a nightly of CM7 I flashed a SZ kernel not knowing it was SBC. I was blown away at the battery life I was getting. Some fellow Android enthusiast coworkers were convinced that something was 'wrong' with my phone when it took about an hour to drop from 100% to 99% -- and after about 16 hours I was over 60% still. It wasn't until later on that I stumbled upon some "SBC is bad, mmkay" posts/threads and horror stories of melting batteries and ruined phones. I immediately stopped using the SBC kernel.
The only issue that I ran into was that apps would occasionally seem to "time out" -- including system stuff. For example I'd try going to "Settings" and the screen would just dim like it was about to load or change over, and nothing would happen. Or I'd open Wordfeud and it would just be a black screen, like it didn't want to load. Typically I had to force stop it and reload it, then it'd work. That drove me insane. I don't know if it was related to the SBC, might have just been the kernel vs the ROM. Any input about that is appreciated.
Anyway... who has been using SBC kernels without any issues? It seems to me like if you're just smart about it (i.e. not leaving the phone charging all day long) then you shouldn't have issues (even though of course the risk is still there). I'd imagine there's quite a few XDA'ers that use SBC kernels because of the incredible battery life. You're the ones that I want to hear from.
Ill throw my opinion on this one...
Ive been using them since day one...never once had an issue. I beat the hell out of my phone and get great battery life with the stock battery. Ive tested different setups & combos of background data syncing...to this day I have not found any negative effects on my phone/battery. I leave it on the charger for about 8 hours per night when I sleep...if I dont stream music for 8 hours straight, I get about 8-11 hours of life out of my phone before needing to charge.
Here is my current battery usage on a SBC kernel. Currently at 82%

I'm using savaged Zen on CM7 SBC and charge for 8 or so hours while I sleep. It reaches a full charge after 2 of those hours so the rest of the time it is just trickling. That is the only time I charge it and have never had an issue with SBC.
I've been using sbc kernels since the beginning. Never had an issue. I have the Sprint extended battery and get 2 days battery life with moderate usage. I play games, text, phone, internet and surf the market quite a bit. Right now my phone has been off the charger for 16 hours and I still have 60% battery left. It was sitting idle in my locker at work for 8 hours but other than that it has been pretty steady usage.

First of all I'll say that I was a part of the people that believed that the SBC kernels should have a warning disclaimer back when that was going on.
Now that is out of the way...
I had received an extra brand new battery with my replaced Evo.
So I decided to start using the SBC kernel's because I figured that if the battery went...who cares... I have a brand new replacement.
I will stop now and say that I've done the HTC calibration talked about here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712990
I was using the SBC kernel for a good few months and although the battery life was better it started declining.
I, of course, re-calibrated the battery but that seems to not help either.
So, did the battery's life fail due to the SBC kernel?
Don't know.
Not going to make that claim.
Just chiming in.
Using a 3000 mAh I get a good 16 Hrs using the SBC more aggressive blah blah blah, and I am always on my phone streaming radio, web and texting.

hes saying anyones phone can last a long time while not being used, this thread needs to go away
I think what he means is, what kind of battery life do you get when using your phone hard? I have tried SBC and Non-sbc, but have not really noticed any difference. I am either surfing the web or playing games CONSTANTLY on my phone during the day, due to the nature of my job. I literally log 6+ continuous hours of surfing per day and, for me, the sbc kernels do not make an appreciable difference. This is not meant as a criticism, it is simply an observation of real-world results on my phone. I get up at 4:30 every morning. Phone comes off charger at 4:50 every morning. By 10am, I am plugging my phone in, cause I am down to 15%...maybe 15 minutes earlier, maybe 15 minutes later, but right around 10am. The kernel I use makes no difference with this. With that said, the kernel I use makes a BIG difference in my ENJOYMENT of that time. My phone has been really happy with anything other than stock. SZ is a close second, but none are as good as htc 15 for me (specifically at issue are screen-tearing in webpages, and smoothness of scrolling. When I was trying out netarchy, I had constant fc's of the browser and had to stop. I am sure the problem is in my phone, but that doesn't make it any more usable. None of the king kernels work well for me, causing tones of fc's and random reboots). I am currently living with stock cm cause it is stable, and I am feeling too lazy to flash a kernel just for some screen-tearing. I know. Pathetically lazy.

The purpose of this thread was to talk to people that have been using SBC kernals and haven't had issues.
I guess I'm not surprised at some of the dumbass comments that have been made. I don't even know why I wasted my time trying to start a discussion.
ive been using sbc kernels since the beginning too, other than the major glitch with them (fix is to not have plugged in while rebooting, or unplug then replug to reset charging) I am very satisfied and thank FSM that ms79723 made sbc for us
my stock battery still feels like its new, I don't notice any inconsistant drain patterns
I use my phone heavy, i can drain my stock battery in 4hrs and my chinese fake 3500 in 7hrs. constant surfing, downloading, texting, talking and tethering. I do it daily not rarely, my nand memory should be failing by now and I'm surprised my batteries have survived this long due to abuse nonsbc related.
the longest my phone went without a sbc kernel was an hour while testing cm stock kernel and I refuse to flash a non sbc kernel.
I will make it known when my battery dies from sbc, so far so good, knocks on wood

I've been using them for a few months and didn't realize I used them incorrectly until a week ago. I normally got great battery life but I found out that I had to let it charge overnight. I never left my phone overnight while charging so I guess I didn't push the kernels to the max. What I would do is just let it charge past 100% for like an hour and then take it off. I only thought people with 3500 batteries should leave it overnight and boy was I wrong. Other day I left my phone overnight for the FIRST time and I really saw the difference; it's funny because the way I know it was working is the battery monitor widget was showing 12-14mA's all night(finally witnessed trickle charging). Man was I amazed lol. Sorry for the long cluttered rant I'm on my phone so I'm trying to keep this short.

Battery life is EPIC....UPDATED 5/16/11

Hey Everyone, Updating this post to reflect some new news about my battery life. On day 2 here. It's 2:25 PM in the afternoon and the Green bar has not even dropped from being full.
Now- It's important to note also. I received my phone on Sat at 10:10am. Let my phone go, NEVER charged it all day sat and used it. Let it SIT OVER NIGHT and never charged it.
Used it sunday as well and by the time I plugged it in it was not even yellow it was low, but not yellow and the Battery time said 1 Day and 6 hours and some change.
I think for tonight I'm not going to charge it either because most likely I will be at 80% or something the battery is so insane.. ill go into the next day.. I will post SCREENSHOTS for you guys later if you want.. but this battery life is SUPER amazing...

That's what i thought about the battery life but there seem to be quite a few folks here with not so great battery life.

Maybe it's their Carriers and location?
I know the farther away from a tower you are the more "juice" the radio uses for the signal right? most people on here are over seas right? I live in the US and i'm on ATT living in a major city area.
+1 for great battery life. I'm a heavy user and came home after work and I'm at 40% (7-8pm). My vibrant would usually die by 5.

I got some pretty bad battery life when i had it on the older firmware (would run out after 12 hours)
but now it easily does 12 hours and is at 50%! thats after i updated to the latest fw
Battery life on SGS 2 is the worst i ever seen on any android... or any other phone either..

+1000 when the signal is weak the phone is constantly searching and is trying to "hang on" to the signal harder. I notice this all the time when I am at work in a crappy AT&T reception area in New York City.
I am more and more suspecting my old Captivate had better reception - I never was without signal at work. With SGS2, I sometimes pick the phone up from my desk only to find that there is no signal on it.

What the heck were you doing with it? Admit it, you turned it on and just put it in your curio cabinet behind a glass door, pulled up a chair and stared at it all day with a goofy happy smile on your face.

You may have a dodgy unit...I'm finding the battery life to be significantly better on my SGS2 than my original SGS (running your rom )
I recieved my S2 last weekend from Clove. Initially I thought it wasn't displaying the correct percentage. Turns out, for me, that it was as good as it seemed.
I've never seen such good battery life on a phone.
Currently on AT&T in MA USA, if it helps anyone.

So what did you get in its place?
When it's good, it is REALLY good...
But then suddenly, out of the blue, the battery graph will turn bezerk, and will try to plunge itself to death on the 0% line within about 12 hours...
But as long as the bug hasn't shown up yet: enjoy!
(probably fixable though in the near future, seeing how fast Samsung is already throwing out new firmwares for it...)

Well I took it with me to run errands all day for one thing, configuring more options while standing in line, sending off texts,. etc,.
Also went out to eat dinner and played with it some more.
Installed all my apps off Wifi, etc.
Battery Thoughts
Guys,
I have had mine now for a week and have noticed that unless I am in a relatively stable signal area I am only getting about 8-10 hours of reasonable use , which i have to say is absolutely rubbish, however I am swithching to GSM only, a lot more in areas where it would constantly be looking for stronger signals and hey presto 1-2 % per hour ish.
I have tried many combinations of apps removal and the above seems to be the only thing that appears to help.
Anyone have any or similar?

I'm not at all, and i'm here in the US on ATT. I do have that "bug" where it will say 3G then Switch back to H+ a lot back and forth, but even with that the battery life is AMAZING. So i'm thinking that bug isn't effecting things much.
I have NOT rooted my phone yet, and I have not "removed" any of the stocks apps yet.
I do PLAN on doing that, but i have not done so yet, and it's great.
Battery thoughts
I really am thinking that there is no uniform issue that fixes this and some people its great other s rubbish....may there is a dodgy batch of batteries that went out.....
Battery Life- Downs and Ups!
My first thoughts on the battery life were very positive. Almost 10 jours of constant playing and still some juice in the tank.
Then it all went a bit downhill, with it needing charging after just 4hrs. I found that was down to "Tektrak" app, therefore that was uninstalled never to return.
Even running AVG my phone was giving pretty good battery life, certainly a day of fairly heavy use.
I upgraded to the latest official Samsung firmware last week and since then the battery life has been incredible, despite the fact I live & work in dodgy reception areas.
I'm getting over 24hrs even running virus, Lifestyle's Bedside Night Clock overnight and using it quite extensively. It's still at the stage where all the iPhone users want to play with it to see what they're missing too so its on most of the day.
Frankly I can't believe how well it is performing. Don't know what Samsung have done but it seems to work.
Everyone seems to be having mixed reactions to the beattery life. Could possible be the way we use it or maybe faulty devices. But the reactions are almost 50-50 so it would be a disaster if half the number of devices turn out to be faulty.

consistent problem with high "DISPLAY" % on sense roms

hi guys i've been having a problem that i cant get fixed. ive asked some people and they are not sure what the problem, and also looked in threads and the fixes dont seem to work either.
i flashed the chadogr rom a while ago from cyanogen mod 7 becuz there were certain issues i was having with it.
when i had the chadogr sense rom, the battery would continuously die in barely no time at all, and when i looked at what was consuming my battery, "display" was always using at least 80-90%, and the phone would be dead in about 3 hrs or so.
got sick of it, and went to an aosp based rom called gingerbread evo deck 1.2w. it was very good and light on resources and battery life was good WHEN I DIDNT USE THE PHONE. but as soon as i started using it battery would drop so fast, but that didnt bother me, cuz sometimes i didnt need to use it. but there were somethings that i just couldnt stand with asop.
1. GPS never worked, EVER!! (i tried all the fixes to no avail) it was always searching for satellite everytime i wanted to use navigation.
2. it had awful signal strength (even wifi), constant disconnects, and always giving me this info that im internationally roaming (wtf)
3. a couple of other things not really worth mentioning.
i said eff it and decided to go back to sense, and decided on the synergy rom after reading the thread to great reviews.
i like the rom but im back again with those "high display" use problems again.
what is causing this and how do i fix it. there was a "fix" in the synergy rom thread but it didnt work for me. it said to go to the spare parts app and uncheck the compatibility mode, i did that and im still having those display issues.
here are some pics for illustration purposes:
this is the chadogr rom (sense), and after only about an hr, its down to 65% and look at what the biggest user is

here is the aosp rom (gingerbread evo deck) and look how much display is using, so little
and now here is the sense rom i flashed yesterday (7/17/11) (synergy), BACK TO THOSE DISPLAY ISSUES AGAIN
sorry this is so long, pls dont bite my head off or yell at me , i dont know what else to do,
i dont have automatic brightness, screen timeout is set at 30s
im lost
pls help, and thanks alot guys
It's more probably a difference of the battery stats plotting rather than the drainage of the display. Display drains the battery most out of all the components in the phone, so that reading must be pretty accurate. If you're battery is draining ridiculously more over AOSP, which Sense ROMs usually do, than you might have a problem with the ROM or kernel themselves and not necessarily Sense, or it could be a more accurate reading for the Displays battery use. I am running Synergy Nightly 7/16 and my battery life is relatively good to CM7.1 RC1. And yes display is at the top at 66% at about 1/4 the time on(Ex. 2 hrs run time since charge, 30 mins display on). Turn of auto brightness too.
Also remember that it is displaying percentage, so the display being higher is actually a good thing. Your display uses the most power of everything on the phone, or it should be, when it is using a higher percentage of the total power available, it means that everything else is using less. The only way to get the percentage of display use down is to either turn the brightness down, or leave the display off as much as possible.
Click on display and you'll get an accurate reading of how much you actually used the display.
Synergy is awesome though, I went from 86% down to 85% when I woke up this morning. 10 hours off the charger and I wasn't even fully charged when I took it off. This thing is amazing with battery.
I have the exact same issue as the OP. I'm posting from my phone right now so when I get home I'll post a more detailed reply with pics but this is NOT NORMAL display usage. I'm getting sick of people telling me and others with this issue that its "just a percentage of what's using the battery and its normal ". Its not normal because this never used to happen to me and the display never used that much battery before. My battery life is horrible compared to a rom that doesn't do it. At most I'll get ten hours from a full charge and I can visibly watch the percentage drop as I'm using the phone. Even when I haven't touched the phone and the screen being off, the display usage will still be at like 90%.
It didn't use to happen, it seemed to just appear out of no where, the first time being with mikfroyo 4.62. I tried downgrading but no luck. I can only comment on roms that I have tried but it also happens with mikg and synergy and a few other sense roms. Aosp does NOT have this issue as I've tried a few differently ones. Currently using CM 7.1 and I'm getting at least 20 hours with heavy use.
I have been trying to get to the bottom of this for a few weeks but it seems that I just keep getting run around in circles. Now that I've seen other people are having this issue too hopefully we can get this worked out with some help. Its keeping me from using my favorite rom, synergy. I like aosp but it just can't match the performance and functionality of sense, oh and looks hehe. Like I said I will post up some pics when I get home to provide more evidence

Have you checked your wake time on the ROM? Wake lock issues are a more likely culprit than the screen when it comes to bad battery life like you described. Go to menu/settings/about/battery and look at your Up Time and your Awake Time. If they seem close to identical (even though you know you've walked away from your phone for a while and had the screen off, etc.) then you have a problem.
The most likely solution is a PRI downgrade to 1.77. Check your ROM's forum to see whether or not a particular PRI is suggested or not.

Its not a simple wake lock issue. My up and awake time are very different, just like they should be. Its not pri either cause I've changed it multiple times with the same issue. How would that even affect display usage? Every pri problem had caused high cell standby or android system but not display. I just bought system panel and I am going to let it run a monitor for a while and see if it brings up any red flags (using synergy). This is something a little deeper than a simple wake lock or radio issue.

Yep, sounds like it. All I know is that many, many phones (including mine) on gingerbread roms show very high display percentages. However, the phone lasts just as long as normal. The going notion is that gingerbread handles app and service power so much better than Froyo did that the display percentage simply has to be higher. That's how percentages work, of course. However, if your phone is dying at a much faster rate than normal, then yes, something is wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has nothing to do with your display. Not that I have any clue what it might be, just sayin'.
It does it regardless if its a froyo or gingerbread rom. First rom it popped up in was mikfroyo which is 2.2. But weirdly it didn't use to do it on that rom. I achieved my best battery life (30 hours moderate usage) on mikfroyo 4.62.

I have three different phones.
Hero (rooted with CM7) - high display usage
Epic (Unrooted stock 2.2) - high display usage
Evo (rooted various 2.3 rom) - high display usage
All have high display except when I run Deck 1.2.1.
On my Evo some rom such as Sprint lovers (stock after auto root v2.5) 3.70 gave me high Android system, but most if not all gingerbread rom with the exception of deck all show high display usage including miui.
This lead me to think that high display usage is quite normal IMHO, just thought I'd share.

How high though? Mine and the OP display usage stays from like 80-90%. I can understand if its a little higher than everything else but this is extremely high. And why would extremely huh display usage be normal even if i haven't touched the phone and the screen is off? Its not normal because it didn't used to happen on the SAME rom. Like i said i used to be able to get 30 hours with mikfroyo 4.62, then this display issue came up and i cant hardly get 10 hours from a charge.

when i 1st got my evo, display was never the biggest power consumer, it was either android system, phone idle or something else.
its hard to believe the reading is accurate, when i know i havent even woken up the phone that much, currently the biggest user of my phone at home is wifi, yet that shows only like 4% or so.
oh and yes auto brightness is off too as stated on the bottom of my original post

I feel your pain bro. What got rid of my issue was i downloaded battery callibration app from the market. Charged to 100% and then used the app. My battery usage went from 5hrs to 16hrs yesterday. I'm loving it. Everyone give that try and trust me it works. Currently running synergy rc2.

One thing I noticed, in your pics your signal is very low, if your signal is low your phones gonna use alot of juice trying to maintain and/or look for a better signal.
Try checking in an area with a decent signal.
@OP...as long as your up time and awake times are diffrent Your phone is completly normal...1) when your using sense roms your continuously using your phone,so your display screen is on all the time. Hence the display so high. 2) when your using aosp roms..your taking long breaks from your phone..the flat lines on your graphs...your phone is sleeping, allowing more batt life..your in 20+ hrs of use..when your on sense your in 3-4 hrs of non stop use..it looks to me u enjoy sense more and can't put your phone down LOL..so the more u use your phone the higher your display % is going to be.

I am getting incredible battery life!

I have to say that after some experimintation I am getting consistantly incredible batter life. For instance, I took off charger at 6:00 am at 100% fully charged this am. It is now 6:00 PM (12 hrs) constant MS Exchange updating, internet browsing, and about 2.5 hrs on phone calls, I now have 81%.
Some facts:
I am on stock KG5
the following definatly made the batter life wose:
Beautiful Widgets
Widget Locker Lockscreen
I have NO battery monitor programs like Juice Defender. In fact I have purchased Juice Defender Ultimate and I saw a slight decrease in perforance.
I have to following apps installed:
Sirius XM Premium online
App2SD Pro
Google Maps update
MLB At Bat 2011
Scanner Radio Pro
You Tube update
OI File Manager
Only downfalls of KG 5 is no video with the Google talk and Flash crashes with the browser. Tried KH1 and KH3, not ready for prime time.
Thoughts and comments welcome.

I think the problem is not the battery mate. You have the same problem than me. Talking two hours and a half by phone every day is nasty, I am sure you have about 80 mails every day like me. This is the real problem to solve, we have to work less so the battery will last more , and kick someone asses who are always calling us and giving problems
100 battery threads but i didnt yet find a clear answer if 2.3.4 improves battery life or not..i wait for the official release so i didnt use any 2.3.4 rom yet...
i too have awesome battery life! my phone was unplugged 13hrs 17m 15s ago and now has 88% remaining..... stock bvkg3 orange rom...
I'm tired of these threads. It's not like samsung sold some phones with good battery life and some without. They are ALL the EXACT SAME.
You can't have a 'better' battery life than another SGS2 user. You can't have a 'worse' battery life either. What matters is usage.
Anyone can get 'incredible' battery life - simply install any ROM such as cog or vr, and do a full wipe. Install only 10 apps, and use the phone sporadically, dare I say, use the phone 'as a phone'.
What I'm trying to say is that the people reporting 52 hours of battery life or what not simply do not use the phone as much as others do. If it sounds logical, that's because it is.
There is no 'magic pill'. I get 54h on standby because despite having 205 apps, I used betterbatterystats to uninstall the worst offenders. But today for example I got 6h out of my battery because I spent 3h hours with the screen on, 1 hour on GPS navigation in my car, 1 hours taking pictures with the flash on, 1 hour playing angry birds. 205 apps, endless memory resident programs, custom-everything, even my wallpaper is 3d with 16x MSAA through CF3d, what did I expect?
The whole Iphone comparison is also whack. I own an iphone 4. Sure when stock the thing flies and stays on battery like you wouldn't believe. But try to customize it and you'll find the same problems that you find on android. Plus, it's twice as heavy as my sgs2
I prefer using my sgs2 as a laptop, the battery life is still better than my acer.
I call bs. But while Im at it i get over 100 hours on my battery. On standby. Omg. I can't believe how long my phone lasts when I don't use it.
Or.
I used my phone 15 hours today. 5 hours screen time. Heavy wifi and cell data. .and snes emulator 2 hours. And I still had 30%. Omfg incredible. I can't believe it not butter. And these are my usual stats or the like. And I don't have a sgs2. I don't get to jizz my pants every day like you guys. Omg. This must be the most incredibly dumb post I've ever posted.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
Wow... so much anger in this forum.
There is a simple solution to all of u angry birds, when u see a thread with the word "battery" in it, run away as fast as u can, and dont look back, ur wasting ur time and others by posting useless angry replies, so cut the crap and grow up...
to the op, thanks for ur post it was helpful at least to me if that counts.

And these are my usual stats or the like. And I don't have a sgs2. I don't get to jizz my pants every day like you guys. Omg. This must be the most incredibly dumb post I've ever posted.
I voided my warranty and your mum.

That's not unbelievable at all.. I can easily get 4 hours screen on time and around 24 in total. Clearly your not a super user..

Wow. 4 hours. On a charge. Omfg. Incredible. I get about 7 hours. On a charge. I guess all that wifi/cell data, email sync, emulators and text make me a light user. Tucks tail between legs.
Weren't you just trolling in the atrix forums letting us know exynos > tegra2? How's that being tethered to a wall working out for you?

@cc999 Thanks for posting your experiance about battery life, don't bother about angry birds. They can't get laid than express anger on your thread .

I'm tired of these threads. It's not like samsung sold some phones with good battery life and some without. They are ALL the EXACT SAME

@cigaro78 You are sooo wrong! The batteries are not all the same. It depends on many factors (how they are stored before shipping, and lotof thing).
Last year i did some test on 5 exact same new mobile phones (samsung omnia i900) and 2 of them have battery wear of 24%.
So the point is that you coud buy a new phone with some percentage of damaged battery.
Thats a first thing, the second thisng is that firmware (battery optimisation) could extremely reduce or extend battery life, depanding on optimisation.
I tried 5 firmwares, 3 of them 2.3.3 and 2 - 2.3.4. (all stock roms)
Best battery experience I had with 2.3.3 XWKF3 (2.3.3), and the worst on XXKH3 (2.3.4), but for some users 2.3.4 is way better for battery.
I can't get over 16h of normal usage at all. (1h phone talk, 50-80 messages, 25 emails, 30 mins on internet (3G) and about 20 mins of playing amtale). DIsplay usage is 44% (auto), 25% Voice calls, 10% android OS, Internet 9% Android system 8% etc...
I was quite chuffed with mine, 2d 12 hours! admittedly not heavy usage but moderate!

Lol sounds exactly like my usage.. I don't follow? Tethered to a wall? If you're referring to webtop I don't miss it one bit... And yes I troll the atrix forums frequently... I sold mine to my friend so sometimes I check on progress. And am I wrong about the tegra 2 vs exynos thing? Honestly i've heard arguments for both sides but wouldn't mind another opinion. Sorry to hijack.
