[Q] Wi fi - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Can someone tell me how to get the Wi fi working in windows 7 on hd2 ??

assuming you have actually tried turning it on there couple of a couple of possible reasons its not working.
firstly WP7 wont connect to hidden networks
secondly, wifi not working is a very common sign of a incompatible SD card,

Thanks for the reply
a "compatible SD card" well what are most people using?
I am using a SanDisk 4G is that good or bad?
I also have a 16G but that’s for android

I'm using my stock tmous 16gb sandisk. From what I've read, & including the three HD2's I've installed WP7 on, it's very compatible.

yes i have the same problem, i know my sd card works with it because, i went through like 4 roms, and it worked perfect. I have installed HD2O_1.04_DFT_LEO70_RELEASE, and everything is perfect BUT wifi

ok let me be clear on this one, dispite what some folk on here believe there is no compatible list, any thread suggesting otherwise is just a waste of bytes.
however, in saying that, statistically, you have a better chance with a class 2 or 4 8gb or 16gb, thats not to say others wont work because they might, in short its luck!
sandisk, an all the other brands all suffer the same issue, im not going in to details on that issue but bassically even the same make and model of a card may or may not work, this is down to the manufacturing process and what components are used.
The only way you can take anyones "advice" on a specific card working is if they have tried it and physically gave it to you.
yes its a common error, you SD card might work but if its not completely compatible it may have issues, wifi, lagging, random reboots etc.

then, it's not your sd card that is the problem! simple logic here mynamemonte.
can you new folks please be more specific when asking questions? a generic question like "how do i get wi-fi to work in wp7 on a hd2" leaves open all sorts of interpretations.
a better question would have been..."i've tried such and such to get wi-fi working and not having any luck". also, if you include the rom and specific technical information about your set up increases the likelihood of a direct answer.

Yes i was going to put more effete into it but I assumed that know one would replay and it was late at night
So for the SD it's trial and error then ??

That is what I've gathered from all the readings on the SD card issue in the various forums. I'm using Kingston 16GB SD, class 6 that I bought to speed things up a bit when I was still using WM6.5. Works fine for me, but I'm on Frantic's 7008 ROM.
I think SD issues are a combination of both the card itself and the tweaks of the various ROM cooks put into their individual versions other than the basic DFT port.

Thanks for the info. I was getting tired of having to switch my broadcast option at home to use wi-fi. I've installed it and we'll see if it works at home tonight considering I may need the NoDo update which isn't out for the HD2 yet.
Will report later.
Btw...HTC sent out an update for the Connection Setup tool on Marketplace this morning. Just in case this update fixes any issues I may run into with HTC Wi-Fi I would recommend people install the update.

htc hd2 telstra australia

I purchased this phone on Ebay and didnt realise at the time that it came pre loaded with Telstra software which prevents me form accessing the net etc. I am with "3" and would prefer to keep the phone - can anyone help solve this issue?
your quick fix would be to Flash a new Rom
Thanks for that. Next question - is how do I do that, where do I go, do I need to do via computer/net or phone/net - never done anything like it. Cheers
Oh dear
ok well you will have some fun then, most important is take your time dont rush

It looks very complicated at first glanse but it is pretty simple

Wow. Could probably do this.
This is all about getting a phone for my sister who has vey poor reception at her farm in the country but where my HD2 works great. None of her three children who all have different types of phones gets as good as reception has the HD2. She wants to buy a phone doesn't want to get it home and find the reception is poor and having wasted her money. I could sell her mine (as I quite like the look of the Desire) and try to tweek it - or she could get one of her own from ebay (item 300447152858) which has already been done. Question then is, will it have the same reception - what part of the phone tells me that sort of info.

the very first thing that you're gonna have to do is flash an older Telstra ROM after you HSPL it. then you can flash whatever ROM you want. i speak from experience. good luck!
no no no... The Telstra phone doesn't prevent you from connecting to the net, it simply doesn't have the settings to connect to 3...
Ring 3 and get all the settings and create a new connection on your HD2...

Actually, whilst you'll get your 3 sim working, you'll have problems getting any desent net connection
Advise, actually flashing HSPL & then custom rom. It all takes a bit of time reading & understanding how it all works but trust me its the best thing to do.
I had probs getting my 3 sim working properly but eversince I started using custom roms, on 1st boot the device picks up the 3 settings automatically & runs perfect

As far as reception goes, your best bet is to stick to telstra. Or 3 as a second option, which runs on the telstra network when roaming.

that's actually more because the cooked roms generally contain the.global connectionsetup program that includes settings for most carriers than the rom itself. you can find it as a cab, which should work on the stock Telstra rom.

[Q] (Question) No WIFI on HTC HD2 with WP7

Hi everybody,
I installed the WP7, everything seem to work, but no WIFI. Bluetooth works, voice works, camera and video..Everything but WIFI. It just says "searching.." but nothing happens.
DO I need to unlock the phone and use Cheveron to get WIFI? Can anybody help? I'm using Sandisk SD 2GB card.
**BTW
I'm from Israel, we don't have the WP7 here yet, so Microsoft IL don't even know what I'm talking about regarding the activation code. Sent mail to the US office, hope it'll go through.

this has been reported to be caused by an incomatible sd card. read HERE through the posts and you will find out more.
I think I read almost every thread possible regarding WP7 wifi. Looked there, will look again. Thanks.
Are you sure IT didnt work and your sdcard is compatible?
If yes try a low WLAN channel instead of a high one, i cant connect to my own WLAN if i use WLAN channel 11-13...dont know why
You could try removing your sd card and rebooting. Bear in mind it will essentially reset to default (new) install. And will format your sd card when inserted again. So be prepared to start from scratch.
Same with me, it found every other wifi except my own one. My solution was to switch off my phone, switch off my wifi. Then switch on my phone. Then switched on my wifi, and it found it.
Worked for me, with out taking out SD Card.

Had the same problem, phone could find other wifi but not my own. This solved it though.
I had a similar problem too.
Wifi was working on the most WiFi networks, except for mine.
It was necessary to enable Reverse Access to router. . .

[Q] How to move WP7 to a new sd card?

I tried searching the forum and I couldn't find anything that really answered my question. I currently have a 2gb Nokia sd card in my HD2. I need more memory, so I got a 8gb Sandisk card. I realize that once I switch out the cards, I will essentially be running a "fresh-from-the-box" version of WP7. My question is: Is there a way for me to move all my existing data (apps, messages, settings, etc.) to the new sd card? I also want to make sure my activation stays intact through this move. Basically I want my phone working exactly as it is now, but with more memory.
Hey xRedRiot!
Did you find a solution for your problem? I´m in the same situation right now, just want to switch from a 4GB to a 8GB card...
it will not work, you will lose everything
as of now there is no backup software to do this, i know, it sucks

If some kind developer could figure out something and make a backup software to accomplish this, I would greatly appreciate that.
I have used this method several times using Easeaus worked fine for me...

So basically you're stopping after step 8 and putting the larger SD card into your HD2, thus having it run exactly the same but with more memory? Just to be clear, when I put in my 8gb SD card, I will end up with about 6gb dedicated to the OS? That's what I'm getting out of the directions in the link and I wanted to make sure I'm understanding that correctly.

Low/Weak WiFi on Android on SD

So I've picked up a HD2 and set it up to dual boot on WP7 and Android MIUI on the sd card, problem I'm having is that the wifi on both are super weak and mostly don't connect. I've tried different sd cards, different builds of WP7 and still nothing changes.
If I were to put Android on NAND would it fix my wifi issues? Or anyone have any suggestions on getting better WiFi signal on my HD2? I would like to keep this over my myTouch 4G just for the ability to flash different things but the WiFi is kinda deal breaker..
Any help would be appreciated
Should I look at the radio that I have installed? I'm not even sure which one is installed on my phone. How would I go about finding that out first I guess?

I had to open it up and make sure the antenna was plugged in all the way, I think it wasn't clipped in all the way from it being shipped to me

Serious problem with Wifi Calling

Hi Guys,
Today I installed the following ROM along with the Wifi calling app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060
I have increased the partition size to 175MB since this guide recommend it. Well, that's not exactly what it's says, it recommend 145MB but I guess adding another 30MB won't hurt.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038784
Everything installed and worked fine. The problem started when I use the wifi app.
The app version I installed: wifi-calling-htcleo-gb-20110628.zip.
Here are the problems. Once in a while it works fine.
1. Phone calls started to freeze.
2. Can't use the bluetooth
3. App freezes
4. Need to wait couple minuted before the next call (not a big deal)
I did some research this morning and found out that I need to upgrade to newer SIM card because some people had success after they changed to newer one. The guide recommend that too.
So I went to T-Mobile store and got changed the SIM card.
But that didn't solve the problem.
Please help
Thank you

hes saying skype on wifi does the same, it could very well be an issue with the drivers for wifi
wifi calling isnt native to the devic e so i would expect there to be bugs/issues with it

This is a known issue thats why no replies...considering HD2 is not an android phone to begin with and wifi calling is a feature ported from "true android devices" there have been alot of problems getting it to work with our phone. I personally had the same issues as you did and force closes on phone.android after installing wifi. I ended up giving up on it for now until more development is done for the wifi...overall it is pretty good considering we arent even supposed to have it for this phone.
