Yes I have the same issues, but he is working on another build right now. I am sure they are working hard.

You do not need a app for this. Go to Settings<Wireless & Networks<Tethering &portable hotspot<and then select USB tethering or Portable WI-FI hotspot.
I use this ROM and I use the Portable WI-Fi hotspot like all the time.

In that case then I think you either don't have the correct drivers for your HD2 to connect in this way which is a easy fix. Just go to control panel while you have your HD2 connected via USB and with the Tethering on. Then go to device manager and find your HD2 there, you will know it when you see it, then click on it. This will make it drop down then right click on the dropped down device icon and select update drivers and then get from internet.
If this is not the problem open ActiveSynce or WMDC on your computer and uncheck allow USB connections and see if that helps.

For me, it works with my iphone but not working with my Mac Book.

I had the same issue, just yesterday I found a fix the WiFi tether app(wifi tether 3.0-pre11.apk) the older WiFi tether apk files did not work correctly. The on-board WiFi works great. You will know when you get the right file, the icon color changed from green to yellow. I have been testing this out for about an hour now and all is good...

Also I can receive e-mails when I am tethering via the on-board WiFi or tethering app, but I can not send them. Does anybody know why this is. This is the same with all ROMS, so nothing to with the ROM (which is great) ...Any ideas on how to fix this settings issue...Thanks

Wifi Internet Sharing

Hi Guys, My laptop wifi is broken so i'm wondering if it is possible to share my Wing's Wifi to my laptop via USB.
It is. I don't know about a default rom, but you can internet share off your phone's 3g on the rom i use, juststable. I've only figured it out for 3g though, not on a wifi network.
i''m using FingerMe currently but I used JustHome 19 before and I can't figure out how to make it work

You just run the Internet Sharing program included in the ROM, connect via USB, follow the program's directions, and you're off!
(Unless apreincher removed internet sharing...)
It should work with your WiFi connection on your phone, too.
Oh, and, on a WM6.5 ROM, it's called Modem Link.
hmmm.. i still can't make it to work. here's what I want to accomplish
- Connect my Wing to WIFI
- connect wing to laptop via USB
- share the Wing's Wifi connection with laptop
my laptop's wifi is broken so i'm currently looking for alternatives..

Hmm, well you said you are using the Modem Link program from WM6.5, correct???
You can install the original Internet Sharing program, here: http://thewingster.com/internetsharing.aspx
(direct download: http://thewingster.com/Documents/Internet Sharing.CAB)
Maybe that'll work for you, if you aren't using the Internet Sharing version already. And also, I think you're supposed to start the internet sharing, and then connect your USB. Otherwise ActiveSync might interferre.
ace, have you actually done this?
As far as I know, the default Internet Sharing program wont actually share the phone's wifi connection with the host computer.
The solution is to use Internet Connection Sharing Control v0.21, which is a third party application that was created specifically for arranging the data stream however you want. The author touts it as being capable of "Wifi to USB - basically the pda acts as a wireless network card for the PC (neat, eh?)." Looks like it might be a somewhat complicated program to figure out, but it should accomplish whatever he's asking.

The default Internet Sharing program has a connection called WModemLink, which might be WiFi.
I never tried it though, so it's true that the third-party app is probably better.

CynanoGenMod 4.1.9999 Rooted
you need to go into tether settings access control enable it then in your wirless on the pc find your phone connection and connect the go back to access control and youll see your pc then put a check mark there
Yes I'm able to just fine. I am using the "Nothing but Netfilter 1.6" ROM After rooting the phone there was no issue. Didnt even need to add anything else to make it work.. But I did notice it doesnt work if you dont switch Wifi on manually.
Did you ever get your tethering to work?

Tethering with TMO US?

I have read a few threads regarding tethering, but its not clear. Is tethering available out of the box? And if so, which kind, Wifi or USB?
If not, how would you enable USB tethering?
It seems like Wifi tethering is available via CAB.
Thanks.
usb tether is available out of the box and wifi is easily installes with a cab. Most cooked roms have wifi tether preinstalled.
Anyone having a problem with the HD2 losing access to data after receiving a call while tethered? It may be losing data after call even when NOT tethered...have not checked yet but it's annoying and breaking connection and reconnected doesn't fix it...a soft reset is required.....seems to only occur on LONG calls as short ones continue fine.

Just google "HTC wifi router" and you will find it.
kumars ROM ..wifi router.. tether awesome with my Ipad....... no usb or bluetooth..
Legally does Tmobile allows Tethering???
I tried USB mode tehtering and worked fine only problem was as i was talking with a tmo agent one day i just happen to ask them about tethering and they told me it is against their policy to tether. any thought on that??

Do you want to use your phone's internet for your pc? Then yes- it's possible with apps. (called tethering. search for wifi tether or usb tether in market or on xda...)
if you want to use your pc's connection - then probably not.

no i mean i donot have a wifi modem and i have adsl net modem and also with respect to battry problem in hd2 i prefer to use net with prob connection but many of builds did not have the internet pass through option
for this aim i like to know that is it posible to add this option to that kind of build as a for example apk software
I have the same issue, having the Internet Pass-Through function (which uses PC's connection on the phone) of Desire HD builds on the Desire builld would be great.
yap
its easy you can use your pc's wifi and turn it into a access point
and then using it trough the wifi
can't be easier than this
see,you left out the most important part: problem is that not all of the pc's have wifi!!!
There is also USB tethering, although you'll have to check if there's any builds with it working.
I don't bother with it as I use wifi tethering instead.
The program Connectify is working pretty good, to use my netbooks LAN connection as access point. Always use it abroad when in hotels without wifi and only wired internet. Works only with windows7 though.

I really feel the need to help the OP here. I don't have an answer to his question, but I do understand what he's asking for, and other people seem to be answering different things!!!
He want's to use a USB cable (not wifi) to allow his phone to use his PC's internet connection.
Tethering is irrelevant (that's using the phone's internet connection on the PC) and he does not have a wireless router so cannot use wifi on his phone.
In response to the OP, the only thing I've ever seen as a conclusive answer is that this cannot be done (there is no software that currently does it). That was an answer on a website from about 7 months ago though, and I am aware of the option on the Desire HD, so there is obviously a way to do it now.
I hope you find what you're looking for

IN the revolution HD 2.2 mdeejay NAND version - you have this option built in in this rom !!!
i used it - its working.
USB tethering is part of the Froyo OS. The problems you may have are that it does not work correctly with a lot of builds. Most of the HTC builds tend to work though.
Hmmm.... I also have the same problem.
I don't want to use the 3G Data connection for internet because it's expensive so it would be really useful to get internet through usb from a computer.
So far I only saw this option on M-Deejay's Revolution HD rom and for me it was kind of a heavy build. Worked kinda slow so I flashed a different rom which doesn't have the usb internet pass through.
I also tried Connectify. My phone connected to the computer's wireless but the internet didn't work. I tried disabling my firewall, opening ports, and other things but it just doesn't work. I think it has to do with the software not supporting all WiFi cards.
So now I'm having trouble getting on the internet with my phone to download apps. I have to go outside and look for some WiFi networks to do it and that kinda sucks
I think it finally works! I installed the latest Connectify beta version from here:
http://connectify.blogspot.com/2010/11/connectify-211-beta-up-for-testing.html
And it kinda works now! I think it's just a bit slow.

Tethering PC to Android to Laptop -- HOW?

I would like to share internet from my PC (which is connected to the internet through LAN) to my Smartphone (Samsung Ace 2 - GT-I8160). I would like to do that using USB cable since my PC doesn't have WIFI or Bluetooth. I know you can buy devices to enable WIFI and Bluetooth but i don't want to buy them. And then i want to share the internet from my smartphone to my laptop.
I download a program called Android Reverse Tethering on my computer to tether from my PC to my Android phone. That is working fine. But then when i try to tether from the Android (which is now connected to the internet via the PC) to the laptop via WIFI tethering, it connects but it says there is no internet access (you know, the exclamation mark on the signal strength sign at the bottom left corner of screen - Windows 7).
So yeah...how can i successfully tether from PC (LAN)--->Android (USB cable)--->Laptop (WIFI)?

hey did you ever get an answer? I would like to know that too.

Guys... seriously... The first thread in this forum, says to SEARCH. There are MULTIPLE tutorials in this very forum outlining this process. Please search for stuff before you post anything. The second thread in line, right under the ONLY stickied thread in this forum, is a reverse tethering tutorial. At one point, your thread was probably listed right next to it.

Hey buddy! So nice of you to reply! I did search before asking on here. Actually, that's how i got here...one of my fruitless searches led me here. You see....if you'd "thoroughly" or at least carefully read my query.. . you would realize that what i am asking is quite different from what you"think" i am asking. I know how to reverse tether...that is, share internet from PC to Android. That is not what i would like to know. What i would like to know is how to tether from PC to Android TO LAPTOP. You see, you missed to last to words. But that's OK, it happens. Thanks for your reply again.

Why in the world would you tether from PC, to Android, to the laptop? What would the point be? Just tether the laptop to the PC. What is the need to put the Android device in the middle of that equation? That's probably why you hadn't received any responses, because it doesn't make any sense. You can edit the process of the tethering tutorial to make it work on a laptop, regardless of OS, as well.
"I would like to share internet from my PC (which is connected to the internet through LAN) to my Smartphone (Samsung Ace 2 - GT-I8160). " that is the first line of your post.
You probably will not be able to achieve what you are asking, because the Android OS doesn't recognize the tethered connection on your phone as an actual connection (that's why a bunch of apps can't use the signal). Have you tried to use a wi-fi tethering app (Barnacle Wi-Fi Tether is the best option)? You also will need to be rooted for all this to work (especially since your carrier probably blocks Wi-Fi tethering altogether if your data plan doesn't allow it, regardless of whether that connection is a data connection or a Wi-Fi connection).

And how would i be able to tether from PC to laptop directly without disconnecting the LAN cable from the PC and connecting it to my laptop...hence, making the PC "internet-less".?
