[Q] Uninstall Clockwork Recovery - 2.5.1.3 - Blade General

Hello!
I' m new on android and I want to Know how can I uninstall the Clockwork Recovery - 2.5.1.3 cause I need to go my ZTE Blade back to the store for service about hardware problems. I send it once but they gave it to me back cause of that!

Flashing an operator update from your operator will usually remove clockwork.
Be aware though that if its newer it could block the ability to root and reflash clockwork in future.
I'm not sure this will help you though.. if they sent it back once surely they will have kept a record of this and will just return it again as you've probably voided any warranty (although id argue this of course)

Root questions

I know if you root you lose your warrenty, but my question is will you still be able to get an insurance replacement? Or is that also void? If you still can get an insurance replacement I don't see a reason not to root. I know for the Fuze I would just have to reinstall the factory rom, does this work the same way on android?
Also if I root and flash a new rom onto my nexus one, will I lose all the apps i bought? I really don't want to have to buy them all again.
Moved as not Android Development.
No, the apps you buy are synced with your google account so when you sign back in then you can redownload them.
About insurance, just give it some water damage or something and claim that. Root status or not shouldn't void it.
First off, thank you for your reply.
So my purchased downloads should appear under the downloads tab in the market after I finish flashing a new rom?
Also, just to make sure I have this process down right (trying hard not to brick my phone so please forgive my noobness to andriod, I got so used to WM phones)
First I need to make sure i have all the proper USB drivers.
Next I have to root my phone found in the following link which will wipe my phone also? http://theunlockr.com/2010/01/02/how-to-root-the-nexus-one/
Then I can flash CM 5.0.2 following his first time flash instructions found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623496
I assume this has the recent OTA update already built with in the rom.
Finally I can then install the black bar (reason for doing any of this) found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=617336
It says it just has the framework so I really don't know what to do yet, but I'm figuring after I go through this process it will make more sense by then?
I see on some places that it would be a good idea to use nandriod before I root, but when I read the nandroid description it says the phone has to be alreayd rooted. So I'm assuming this would be a waste of time for now?
Is there any way to back up my messages, bookmarks, etc. before I root? If I just have to kiss them good bye I'd understand, but just trying to make sure before I do it.
on most of the things you are correct, the black bar mod, you just flash in recovery after you flash the rom.
technically you can nandroid before you root, unlocking your bootloader and rooting are two separate things. After you unlock your bootloader and flash the recovery image to it, you are not technically rooted and can use the recovery image to make a nandroid of your unrooted phone.
there are a few backup apps in the market for various things. I know there are a few sms backup apps, but am not so sure about bookmarks.
you have the idea of what to do down though

Revert it back to stock for a start means using Odin to flash the stock rom. Do you know what rom it was on when it was stock? Or did it have Bell Branding on it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Good Luck
I would remove root, but as long as you didnt flash the phone you should be fine.
I say flash because the system has an internal flash counter, samsung can tell if you've been flashing your phone
what do u guys mean flash? and it did not have a bell branding
Flash means install a firmware or part of a firmware.
Rooting voids warranty so you need to remove root by flashing a stock rom .
Reset the custom rom counter with USB jig .

I had a similar problem, I'd rooted the phone and had the yellow warning triangle when turning the phone on.
So I flashed a stock rom (the original one that was installed when I bought the phone) using odin and this solved the problem, the warning triangle had gone, the phone was like new.
I too had to send one back for Warranty repair, it had been rooted and custom roms installed a number of times. I reset the counter using a USB jig (Download mode jig which resets the rom counter), and reinstalled the Stock Vodafone ROM. They did what they did and sent the phone back to me, no questions asked. If you have had custom roms on there rather than stock ones with non-stock kernels I would advise getting the jig.

I removed the Yellow triangle, is it still recommended for me to use the jig

I bought one off Ebay
Don't bother resetting Custom Binary counter!
I have done warranty replacement and was never asked a question why I had flashed custom ROM 7 times!
You just flash official ROM back and you should be good to go folks. Infact NOWHERE in Samsung's documentation it says you can't root or install custom ROM on the phone or it would void the warranty! Even when we get the warning while entering download mode, it never tells you that it will void the warranty!
So essentially there should be no worry for warranty claims even when you accidentally left custom ROM with root on the phone while doing warranty claims. Let me know if ANYONE out here had a different experience and I have NEVER seen claims getting rejected for these reasons!!!

Agreed! I got my screen replaced even i was on custom rom. They flashed the stock rom back thou
But i quess you can't do warranty claims if you take your bootlooping phone to repair centre caused by flashing custom roms.

Bravo going back for warranty repair-unroot? UPDATE.

Hey all-
My Bravo's USB port is borked, won't hold a connection any longer, so I've got an RMA for repair. My understanding is that if the phone is rooted, the warranty is void. So, I'm assuming I have to unroot (used SuperOneClick to root, and will use it to unroot) it before shipping it back to Motorola. My questions are:
Do I need to uninstall any apps I installed while the phone was rooted?
Is there anything else I need to do to the phone before returning it?
Many thanks for any and all advice.

Took me a while to find it, but I finally figured out how to get into recovery. Thanks.
FWIW, I did the stock ROM recovery wipe, but superuser was still in my app drawer on reboot, so apparently this doesn't unroot the phone. Sent it out anyway, with a security lock. If they can get past this (and I bet they can, but hopefully won't bother) and decide I've voided the warranty, guess I'll just live with crappy USB port.

Well, since the USB port was non-functional, flashing with anything was out. I'm hoping they just see the port is useless and send me a new one or refurb. I really like the phone and, if Motorola discovers it's rooted and voids my warranty, I'll have to start over with a new model. Just got off chat with an AT&T sales rep and there was nothing they were willing to do for me, except steer me to a local store.
I was using my wife's Captivate last night. Not bad, but more of a handful than the Bravo.
So, for those of you sitting on the edge of your seats wondering how this warranty return went, I got the phone back the other day, no problemo. Same phone, so somehow the repair wizards were able to put a new USB port in. Groovy.
I am still wondering why, when I did a factory restore, Superuser remained installed. My being able to root the device and use ADB to install .apk packages from the command line is the limit of my knowledge (now using Side Load Wonder Machine instead). My attempts at getting SuperOneCLick to unroot the phone all met with failure, so I sent the phone in with fingers crossed; now I would very much like to use BandroidX's BravoX ROM, but am not sure how to proceed at this point. Any help is much appreciated.
First off... Motorola has released an official app that allows installing of apks from unknown sources so you don't have to use SLWM. The exact name slips my mind, bravo non market enabler maybe? Do a little searching in the market and you'll find it.
As for flashing bandroidx's rom... he has instructions in his release thread. If you need more detailed instructions, post back and i can help you out more.
Remember to be cautious and be prepared to flash the 2.2.1 sbf if something goes wrong.
Ah, yes, thanks. Bravo Sideload Enabler. Who knew? I'll read up on the BravoX ROM again, but that thread does go on.
Hey can somebody upload the apk file of motorola sideloader enabler for bravo?
I cant download it here in my country, I live outside US.
Please!!!

[Q] Can LG tell if my phone has been rooted and the bootloader unlocked?

i have to send my phone back to LG (or Google? not sure which one its actually going to end up at) because of overheating issues. they're sending me a replacement tomorrow with a shipping label for my old one to send back. they're holding funds for my new one until they've checked over the old one an verified that i do need a replacement, then if its all good they release the funds back into my account, but if its not all hunky dory they take the money, and i really can't afford that. i had it rooted and the bootloader unlocked and a custom kernel. i've flashed the stock kernel, unrooted and checked with Root Checker Basic, which tells me "Sorry! This device does not have proper root access". I've re-locked the bootloader, and checked that as well. I've flashed a few different things, including mod that makes the screen more sensitive, i've reverted that now though as it was to sensitive. i've also flashed lots of different ROMs including CyanogenMod, AOKP, Paranoid Android (i think thats the name) and more, a few weeks ago i flashed back to the stock rom, because i found problems with all the other ones. please ask if you need more information. back to the original question: will LG, or Google, whoever it goes to, be able to know that any of that has been done?
Thanks, Raf

No, if you flashed a factory image and the bootloader is locked they can`t tell what you flashed in the past .

Nope, not afaik. Samsung has binary flash counters (which can be reset though). Nexus devices don`t have that. So they look at the device as it comes in, not rooted and a locked bootloader.

Did you make a backup of the stock system image before flashing a custom rom? I haven't tried going back to stock any other way, but I'm fairly certain that the only way to RUU back to stock is if you have a completely stock copy of your system image to restore in TWRP.
Out of curiosity, what issue are you having that require warranty service?
I'm also having trouble finding a guide to this; I've bricked phones in the past, or had issues with reverting to sell that ended up costing me 3 hours of troubleshooting.
Basically I've now found that Android Pay is something that I wish to use again; and with the N update for VZW coming out very soon I might as well go back to full stock with my bootloader locked again now that the main reason I went to s-off/unlocked was for N.
Anyone know where the guide is? If there isn't one, I will outline the steps that I think I need to take, but could use some help to make sure I don't jank it up.
1. Get the RUU from the stock ruu thread.
2. Flash said RUU
3. Factory Reset
4. ???
5. Profit?
As you can see, I'm missing the parts where I re-lock the bootloader, change the tamper flag, fix potential LTE problems (I've read that might be an issue), and whatever else might need to be done to full revert it to legit VZW.
If it matters; I have a (rooted) stock backup from 1.85.605.8 I can flash to make this easier, as I recall having to do that for prior HTC phones (I think).
